I love the Love Inspired Suspense line – quick, fast-paced reads packed with lots of breath-holding suspense & action plus a sweet romance as well. In Primary Suspect, we get all of this plus a great group of supporting characters who have been featured in the previous books of this series. (Don’t worry, though. I haven’t read the other 4 books and I didn’t feel lost at all. I do however want to go back and play catch up because I really liked the Callahans.)

The book starts out with a bang (over the head. Poor Mitch) and keeps the tension high until the very end. Just when you think it’s safe to relax a little, don’t. Dead bodies keep piling up, as well as some startling evidence, and the author has crafted a great atmosphere of suspense that holds your attention all the way through the story. On the run. Trying to avoid being caught by the police or by the people who are trying to kill them. Never sure who will show up next, or what danger they will have to dodge. In fact, you may find yourself holding your breath more than once – and not just from the great kisses.

Speaking of those kisses, though… I loved the layers to Mitch and Dana’s relationship; yes, they had just reconnected after three years, but the fact that they had such an emotional past connection adds to the chemistry between them now. The emotionally-taut, high-intensity situation in which they currently find themselves fuels the intensity of their feelings for each other too, making their quasi-‘insta-love’ more believable for me than it might in other circumstances.

Bottom Line: Primary Suspect by Laura Scott is truly enjoyable from start to finish. The characters, the plot, the action, and the sweet faith thread that weaves through the story – all of it delivers a great story that will keep you glued to the page. An excellent choice for fans of law enforcement heroes, medical drama, and run-for-your-life romantic suspense!

Primary Suspect was another hit in the Callahan Confidential series. I've read all the previous four books, so I was very excited to pick up this book and continue reading about this family.

The story starts off intense. The main character realizes he is being framed for murder and then has attempts on his life. He and Dana end up on the run to save their lives. The story has some twists which kept it interesting and I enjoyed the ending quite a bit.

All in all, Primary Suspect was really good and I am eager to read the next book as soon as I can.

My thoughts: PRIMARY SUSPECT is the third book I chose to read. And it was soooo good. Mitch is a fire inspector and when he started inspecting fires from his deceased co-worker, he suddenly finds himself framed for murder. Grabbing an ER nurse as he makes his escape after a madman tries to kill him at the hospital, he ends up putting her in danger too.

Mitch is the only non-police officer in his family (except for his sister) but he knows the law and as a fire inspector he has the right to make arrests. He is not used to running from the law, or putting his police officer brothers in the position of aiding a "criminal" even though he didn't do it. Trouble is trying to put all the pieces together to figure out who is framing him and why while he and Dana are on the run for their lives--and to escape arrest.

I love the cover for this book too. So peaceful, even if the story is everything but.

If you like romantic suspense, you will love Laura Scott's PRIMARY SUSPECT.

I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

Pages crackle with tension from the very first paragraph as Mitch cautiously approaches a burnt-out warehouse. Argh! I told him to go back, that this was a set up but did he listen? Nope. Didn't even acknowledge my concern and once he entered that warehouse...well the race was on.

This taut romantic suspense has a Fugitive edge to it as Mitch dodges a killer. A case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time drags Dana into the danger. A fast-paced page-turner with a fine balance between suspense and romance. And fans of this Callahan Confidential series will be thrilled to meet up with some familiar faces here. It pays to be part of a law enforcement family when you're running for your life without a clue as to why! No worries if you haven't read the other books though because this one reads fine as a standalone. I've just read Shattered Lullaby so far but I intend to check out the first three books soon!

This was my first experience with reading a Love Inspired Book. I’ve heard great things about them so I was very excited to pick one up. I received 4 books to review and chose the suspense title as suspense is one of my favorite genres.

The story focuses on Mitch, who is being framed for murder and struggles to clear his name and solve the crime before he’s caught. I found this story to be very fast paced and action packed. I was able to read it in 2 days that were full of other activities. The author was good at hooking the reader at the end of the chapters in a way that makes them keep reading (with cliffhangers).

The story-line was interesting but felt a bit familiar. I also felt like the characters lacked depth and substance.

Overall, this was a fast, fun mystery that was enjoyable to read. I would definitely pick up more Love Inspired books in the future.

I received Primary Suspect (Callahan Confidential #5) free from Barnes and Noble because I purchased a romance novel. I said, “Thank you.”

As I started reading, I became engrossed immediately! This was a very good suspense -really pulled me in. Twists and turns made me hold my breath. I like this kind of read!

Also, something in here that was refreshing- the subject of prayer is brought out beautifully. I enjoyed this part of the book. Thank you for this, Ms. Scott! After reading a few books lately that bashed religion nonstop - this is refreshing.

The love story in here is sweet- a little corny-but enjoyable. A couple of spots brought
a tear to my eye.

This being a free book, I thought might be a let down - but it surprised me! I really enjoyed it - a quick easy read.

Now I want to read the first in this series- Shielding His Christmas Witness (Callahan Confidential #1)

Primary Suspect is my first introduction to Laura Scott's work and the fifth installment to her Callahan Confidential series. I thought it was a pretty good read. Mitch and Danna were great characters and I thought they had wonderful chemistry that helped me want to keep turning the pages. With the addition of the action, mystery and suspense.

I give Primary Suspect four stars and I look forward to reading the prior books from the Callahan Confidential series soon.

Recommended.

I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Primary Suspect was a heart pounding and emotionally charged story as fire investigator Mitch Callahan along with ER nurse Dana Petrie is being chased after Mitch was injured at a burned out warehouse. Dana and Mitch seemed to not catch a break from whoever wanted Mitch framed for murder after assuming his deceased co-worker’s files. The Callahan’s brothers join forces to see why Mitch’s life is being targeted. Who’s behind all the recent warehouse fires and why? Readers of Love Inspired Suspense will not want to miss this book.

Primary Suspect was a rapid read with all the action and emotions on alert. It’s the first book I’ve read in this series, but it definitely was a standalone story.

This book is action packed with intense drama and edge of your seat action. Mitch is the kind of character that oozes with confidence as he investigates a crime scene that will have him scrambling for his life. The opening pages draw readers in with a tense scene as Mitch has been called back to a crime scene . I could smell the smoke as he walked in the building that once stood so proud and tall. Why would he need to have a meeting here late at night? Oh my was I shaking as Mitch is soon in danger and lands in the ER.

The author is right on target with intrigue and action that had me drawn to the story. I'm sure Mitch didn't expect to find himself face to face with the widow of one of his co workers. It must be hard for Mitch to see her standing there as he remembers his buddy Kent who he tried to save in a fire. I liked how the author allowed Dana to thank Mitch for trying to save her husband. How long has Mitch carried the guilt of that fateful night when all efforts to save Kent were not enough?

I thought hospitals were safe and quiet places to heal. I was very wrong as bursting into the room comes a flash of danger wielding a knife. Holy smokes batman. Mitch and Dana barely escape and this is where the real action picks up. Someone is definitely trying to kill Mitch and he better be on his toes or he will find himself breathing his last breath. I loved how the author brought Mitch and Dana together , even though at first Dana is not quite cooperative. I wouldn't want to be on the run with someone who has danger written all over them.

What did Mitch see in the warehouse earlier that has put him on a hit list? He smells setup and must prove his innocence before he is caught. As Mitch and Dana start to draw close to each other, more danger comes their way. I rooted for this couple throughout the story because their chemistry was hot and subtle. Sometimes I thought Dana wasn't sure if she could trust Mitch, but as bodies start piling up she has no choice.

I love reading books that grab my attention right away and this book not only did that, but kept my attention till the very end. The intense and dangerous story is filled with great characters that jump off the pages. It's a race to the finish as Mitch and Dana must prove Mitch's innocence and stay alive. I absolutely loved the ending and thought the author did a great job of keeping readers in suspense till the end.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. The review is my own opinion.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Primary Suspect. This is the fifth book in the Callahan Confidential Series. I have really enjoyed this series. You just have to love the Callahan family. This book is well written, action packed and full of drama. Laura has woven her faith throughout the story. I know you are going to love this book!

Fire Investigator Mitch Callahan is called to meet his chief at a burned out warehouse. What he find there when he arrives is a dead body. Not understanding how a body could be there when it wasn't there a few hours ago, he turned to leave and is knocked out. When he comes to, he finds the dead body is a woman he once dated, is he being set up? Did his boss set him up? He hears sirens and knows the person who attacked him called the police. He does the only thing he can he runs.

ER Nurse Dana Petrie is getting ready to leave work when she sees Mitch's name on the cenus board. He was the man that carried her husband out of a burning building. Her husband had still died but Mitch had tried to save him. She needs to thank him. She had been to traumatized by the death of her husband and her unborn child to thank him when it happened. While she is talking to him a man rushed into the room and and attacked them with a knife. Dana leads him out of the hospital. The man iss following them.

A great journey of two broken souls. They make a good team and suddenly Dana realized she feel alive again. Can they find out what is going on before someone kills them? God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. You may not have a killer chasing you but you do have an enemy that is out to steal, kill, and destroy. Give God your heart and watch Him make a way where there is no way. God is good!

I am a big fan of Love Inspired Suspense books. One reason is I find authors that are new to me and that I quickly fall in love with their work. That is the case with Laura Scott's work. I just finished Primary Suspect and oh what a ride.

The main characters in this book are ER nurse Dana Petrie and fire investigator Mitch Callahan. These two characters find themselves in a predicament from the very start and oh how their characters sizzled together. The chemistry that bubbled up between these two was wonderfully done.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a quick, clean and suspenseful read.

On a 5-Star scale - 5 Stars!!!!!

I would like to thank the publisher for my copy of Primary Suspect. I received my copy for free with no expectation for a review.

Feel comforted and at peace when you read these uplifting romances of faith, forgiveness and hope from Love Inspired. There are 12 new books each month! 6 from Love Inspired for those who love contemporary romance and 6 from Love Inspired Suspense who like some danger with their romance stories.

“Primary Suspect” is fast-paced suspense at its best. It quickly becomes obvious that someone wants Mitch Callahan dead and will stop at nothing to achieve that purpose. ER nurse Dana Petrie is drawn into the danger when she attempts to help after an attempt on his life at the hospital where she works.

This well-written novel is a page-turner with plenty of action, danger, suspense, and even romance which should keep most readers on the edge of their chairs. I read it in one sitting and plan to locate the other Callahan Confidential books in this series.

I am consistently amazed at the quality of most books in the Love Inspired Suspense line and will recommend them to anyone who loves this genre.

This was suspenseful right from the start. I liked that. The romance was good at the start but it felt rushed by the end. I was just getting to know them and then they were in love. I really liked both Mitch and Dana, particularly Dana’s back story making her the woman she was currently. I wish that could have been developed more but I realize that is asking a lot for a short book. 2 1/2 stars. Full review at my website.

I received this book complimentary as a participant of the Love Inspired Blog Tour. I was not required to give a positive review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are my own.

Predictably but Good

Love the Callahan series. All of the books have been similar but you cannot help but love them. Dana a ER nurse, sees Mitch Callahan's name on a ER slip, she wanted to thank him for what he did when her husband died. As she is leaving his room some attempts to kill him, and before she know it they are on the run. The book has attempted murder, murder, drugs, arson, through all the running and hiding from the bad guys, Dana finds her way back to God. Awesome story

Getting to know Mitch Callahan in his book Primary Suspect was a great adventure. Laura Scott didn't hold anything back as Mitch and Dana had to continuously remain on the run--not only from the people framing Mitch for murder, but from the authorities as well. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book and the ending almost brought me to tears of happiness--which isn't unusual in the Callahan Confidential series.
