Falling Into Trust

Rate this book
For the past two years, Spence has hated no one more than James; now he’s forced to spend a week with him.

Spence was excited to go up to the lake resort for his sister’s wedding, but that was until she tells him about the wedding games she planned and that she has paired him with a partner, James Vander, the boy he almost kissed. Also, the very boy that ruined his life senior year of high school. For the love of his sister, he says he’ll play along, but when he sees James for the first time in a couple of years, much to his chagrin, he can’t take his eyes off of him. James is no longer that skinny boy with braces. He’s a scruffy, self-made millionaire at the age of twenty, and they can’t deny the attraction they feel toward each other.

If Spence can get over his trust issues, he might be able to let James into his life, but James might prove that he’s not worthy of his trust.

DNF.

Just... James threw Spence under the bus and joined in on the namecalling when they were caught almost kissing.
And the whole:

That didn’t seem right, but then I think I knew I never really hated him. I was mad at him and just needed to place the blame of what happened somewhere, on someone, and he was that one. What we felt for each other stayed alive for the past two years, I just had it locked away.

Made me grit my teeth! FFS, stand tall dude! And if you didn't 'really' hate James then what the hell was this story about?

Yeah, I am STILL searching for a proper second-chance-story WITH real fucking grovelling for being a douchebag!

Second chance love story. Spence's sister is getting married and it taking place at a resort near a lake. Before they're suppose to make the journey to the resort Spence's sister drops the bomb that Spence will be partnered with James, his ex-friend/crush and now nemesis for special game events. Of course, Spence's sister has no idea of why Spence doesn't like James and how he's made Spence life hell. But Spence loves his sister and is willing to do whatever she wants to make her wedding special. James has changed though and he's no longer the boy Spence knew him as. But Spence has trusted him once before and it didn't end so well for him then, he's not so sure he can trust him again. But the attraction is strong and if James has his way he may just prove Spence he's trustworthy again.

I liked the story well enough. It was written and flowed very well. It was easy to read in one sitting. My major complaint is that I don't feel as though James proved he was a better person and that Spence should trust and take a chance on him.I really disliked James, I thought he was too smug and I didn't feel as he was sincere in his apology to Spence and all the heartache he put them both through. I felt sad Spence chose to saddle himself with such a jerk. James behavior was horrible especially with the issue with his wedding date and his sister was no better for not being up front with Spence. It felt like James made promises he didn't mean to keep just to get into Spence's pants.

Hot sexual awakening for Spence with a man he thought he hated. James had not only publicly embarrassed and hurt Spence, he'd triggered horrific bullying of the younger guy, while he went on to college to develop a killer bod and become an amazing lover and tech multi-millionaire.
But James says he's always loved Spence and begs him to trust him. Since Spencer's family seems Hell-bent on putting the couple together, he gives in to his strong attraction to James and loves the time they spend together. Trust though is a harder peak to reach. The author's setting of a resort for a long wedding is perfect for romance and the main characters and supporting characters are all entertaining. Havan's attention to detail is obvious and appreciated. In this case M/M can stand for Mature and Meaningful

A nicely paced m/m romance that swept me right into summer and gave me all the feels. I loved the voice of the main character and the supporting cast was a fun mix. Would recommend!!!

This is a touching book about being able to trust someone who once broke your heart. Are there second chances in life and love? Spence and James are lovable and believable characters and their path back to each other will grab you from the beginning and not let you go. Sex scenes are definitely adult only and tastefully done.

Cute.

This is a cute and sweet romance. Spencer is so strong but a bit too sweet. Love his sister. I ha e to say James did not impress me. I'm fact, I think Cole would have been a better but for Spencer. Also, I found James's character to be a little off. He starts off as this cocky but who's a bit insensitive then turns into this scared but who won't stand up for Spencer. I just couldn't connect with him at all.

Good, quick read

I thought that Spence forgave too easily and too quickly for as hurtful as James had been. And I was a bit confused in the end about where Cole disappeared to.

Other than that, this book was a sweet second chances romance. Spence and James were a bit young, and yet the ending definitely felt more HEA than HFN (which I prefer).
