Binny Carnegie doesn't want her notorious night club shut down. Lawyer Sam Williams wouldn't normally care, but it's his job to fix Binny Carnegie's problems. Fixing this particular problem might be more trouble than it's worth.
Caged is another snapshot of Sam Williams, hero of international bestseller The Art of Staying Dead and the upcoming thriller Dead North, back in his formative legal years at Mauriers.
Please note that Caged is a short story, not a full length novel.
Praise for The Art of Staying Dead, the first full-length Sam Williams novel
"A great thriller with a strong plot, original and intelligent, with great characters, flawed, likeable, detestable, human, with some nice chewy thematic elements...taut, lean and witty prose... The Art of Staying Dead is a 5 star treat." - John Bowen, International Bestselling Author of "Where the Dead Walk", "Vessel" and "Death Stalks Kettle Street"
"Fans of fast-paced thrillers will love this book. There is certainly one twist towards the end which literally made my jaw drop open" - Sarah Hardy, By The Letter Book Reviews
"A well-planned thriller full of conspiracy, politics, murder and violence. The highly descriptive plot sucks you right into the action from the first page" - Victoria Goldman, Amazon Top 1000 reviewer, Off-the-shelf book reviews
"It was thrilling, suspenseful, and I found myself holding my breath" - Noelle Holten, CrimeBookJunkie
A short story telling us about 'Caged', a nightclub where, rather than women highlighted, it is men in cages suspended above! After trying to renew it's license, and being denied, the owner,Binny, comes to the high-powered attorney firm in which Sam Williams works. She hires them to fix the problem and Sam is given the case. A very interesting case in which every move has consequences, some you do Not see coming...
Despite me constantly saying that short stories and novellas are 'not my thing' I've absolutely loved the ones written by this author (Victims and Brexecution).
The Art of Staying Dead is the full length novel featuring Sam Williams and was one of my top reads of 2016 and I'm waiting impatiently for the next in the series so i leaped at the chance for another fix with this short story which gives us a glimpse into his early career at Mauriers. As I've come to expect from this author there is the usual fabulous writing, touches of humour, realistic and complex characters and a story line that makes you think a little deeper.
Highly recommended for an hour of escapism 4.5 stars :)
‘Caged’ is a club with an unusual selling point. Instead of scantily clad ladies, it has well-built young men suspended in cages. It’s working within the law but has failed to get its licence renewed. Lawyer Sam Williams is tasked with sorting it out. An unforeseen tragedy follows. Is it Sam’s fault?
This is another short story which gives a snapshot of the life of the main character in one of the author’s full length novels. I enjoy his writing style and the depth and complexity of the characters and I’m pleased to discover that there’ll be another full length Sam Williams novel in 2018. Bring it on!
