It seems bizarre in some ways that this is based on what was actually happening in L.A. at the time. The comic captures the violent, noir feeling of something like the Black Dahlia or L.A. Confidential really well, and while the first four issues are clearly only one arc within a longer story, I think I'm going to have to pick up the next couple of mini-series.
