School's out! So go on a picnic in the woods, visit the seaside or take a trip on a magic aeroplane in this enchanting collection of stories perfect for summer holidays.
Enid Blyton has been delighting readers for more than seventy years with her endless summers of magic, fun and adventure. Enid's best-loved characters include Noddy the wooden boy, Timmy the dog from The Famous Five and the mischievous twins Pat and Isabel O'Sullivan from the much-loved boarding school series St Clare's.
This collection contains a selection of 22 original stories dating back to the 1930s.
Its always a pleasure reading Blyton, i have been reading her since i was 7 and no matter at what age or point in life i am, i always return to her once or twice a year in need of a warm hug and she always delivers 🤗❤️
This was another delightful set of tales from Enid Blyton. The description on GR mentioned stories about Timmy the dog and St Clare's but my copy did not have them.
Stories in this collection included the children who wanted to know the meaning of once in a blue moon, the boy who wanted a bicycle for his birthday and the forgetful man who tied a knot in his handkerchief to remember.
Like all Enid Blyton books these stories had a strong moral within the tale teaching children that rewards can be had from being helpful and kind.
Although Enid Blyton died in 1968 her books are still enjoyed by readers young and old. I recommend this book for bedtime so parents can read their children a couple of stories or three before bed.
Cute, "very Enid Blyton" and you can hearher voice and the time in the writing which is absolutely charming but may feel old-fashioned for some readers. The pictures are also lovely.
Some of the stories have strong ideas but given they are a bit short feel under-developed and a bit too predictable, lacking the creativity Blyton shows in her longer works. However they are generally very sunny and have a sweet moral.
Some feel a bit repetitive in the idea they are trying to convey. As with almost all collections, it's a bit up and down but all of them are easy reads - you can race through them - and they are positively dripping with sunniness and honey.
I really loved this book! In fact, It was my first Enid Blyton Short story book, and from then to now, I've read loads of these. It is definitely recommended for people who like light, funny and interesting stories😄😄.
Enjoyed these more than I thought I would. Collection of stories, set in holidays. Students like this collection too, a good way to start reading Enid Blyton, as not too demanding.
