Having read the first 4 books in the Solvik Series, I was eagerly awaiting the 5th. Happy to say I was not disappointed! I keep getting more and more impressed by this author. Not only has she created the beautiful town of Solvik for us to enjoy, but she has managed to create unique characters in every book. The main characters are very much unlike each other, and the story reflects their personality exceptionally well.
I find "Kun det beste" a bit different from the others - but not to worry! I can still tell it is one of Mette Barfelt's, and you meet the by now dear and familiar faces and places. However, there is even more to this book; the mystery part is on a much deeper level - I could literally feel the emotions as if they were my own. I enjoyed getting to know Isabella - a strong and passionate woman struggling to heal the scars from her past, and Remy - a tough-looking man with a kind and gentle soul underneath the hard exterior.
The author has yet again written a genuinely believable and heartwarming story of love and hatred, of how to turn the negative into something positive and give love a second chance. It is easy to relate to the characters and the story, and there is a lesson to be learned as well.
Although they are all stand-alone, as always with series, I recommend starting with book 1. Happy reading!
