Bad Idea #2

Lost Ones

Rate this book
Six months ago, I gave my heart to a girl.

Beautiful, kind, and sexy as sin, she’s the only person who saw past my record or the color of my skin. Who ever saw me for me.

She loved me enough to let me go, let me leave this city to find my own path.
But without her, I drift, lost without direction.
Without me, she spirals, desperate for connection.

I gave my heart to a girl, and she gave hers to me.

But love shouldn’t hurt this much.

4.5 STARS!
I may be young, but I know that's not what love should do. It shouldn't make you feel abandoned. Like you're nothing.
Oh, you guys! This one was a real heartbreaker...

Layla and Nico's story continues with them on opposite sides of the country in their quest to do what's best for each other and themselves.
I'm not letting you get lost in my life when I don't even know what the fuck my life is supposed to be yet.
Unfortunately for Layla, Nico's departure coincides with the slow unraveling of her entire support system. Her parents are divorcing, leaving her without a 'home', and her friends are getting tired of her depressed mindset. This leaves her vulnerable to Giancarlo, who worms his way into her life when she's at her lowest.

All the while, Nico comes and goes in her life over her junior year at NYU.
Here with him, in this safe cocoon of love and sex and warmth, one thing is certain: that when we're together, things are better. I'd give up everything I had if it meant we could stay this way for good.
There were some really poignant moments between them...
I'll long for this girl for the rest of my life, whether I'm with her or not.
...and mostly the story was really well done.
I don't want to cut him out of my life, even though having him in it hurts.
Even though they weren't 'together' in this installment, the majority of the scenes involved the two of them. [Trigger warning: ] And all those scenes were full of emotion and really tugged at my heartstrings.
"You feel like home to me," he says very, very softly. "You always do."
Their reconciliation, when it finally came, was hard won and set my heart at ease. How I've come to care for these two characters - flaws and all!!

Where I thought the story lost a bit of its finesse was in the last 20% or so. In an effort to continue to advance Layla's toxic relationship with Giancarlo, the author pushed Nico too far into asshole territory, and the logic behind his decision-making verged on unbelievable.

But having said that, the writing was smoother than in book 1 and this author's social conscience continues to shine through.

Overall, Lost Ones was fabulous and I'll absolutely be reading more from this author.

On to book 3!!

5+ STARS!!!! I'm struggling for words here to adequately describe this novel. Amazing, heart wrenching, raw. Never before have I cried/been on the edge of tears for an entire story. I am so incredibly entrenched and invested in Nico and Layla's story, thanks to Nicole French's masterful storytelling. Nicole has moved to the top of my list as favorite author. I am blown away by Nicole French's talent to elicit such strong emotion from me through her novels. I feel pain when Layla feels pain, I feel saudade when Layla feels saudade (hopefully I used that right :) ) I will be anxiously awaiting the next novel in the series, as well as anything and everything Nicole French writes!

*** ARC received in exchange for an honest review***

The mix of emotions the rollercoaster ride that Lost Ones, book two in the Bad Idea series by Nicole French takes you on is one you will not forget. There is just so much to this book I am afraid of giving anything away!! But I will say a few things.

One this is not a book for the lighthearted. There are difficult situations that take place.

Ever watch a movie and start yelling at them to don't go..don't do that? Well that is how I felt during this book. I became annoyed with both Nico and Layla wanting to yell, don't you see what is right in front of you, what is wrong with you!!!

Another aspect of Nicole French's writing is that its just not about the main characters, you see a bit more of the secondary characters that leaves you questioning and hoping that there will be more. That this is not the end of Nico and Layla's story or that there will be of one of their sibling and/or friends to come. Ok, I just want more!!!

So well written, better than the first, and I consider both books must reads.

5 Brilliant stars

I wish I could convey every feeling and emotion that this book evokes but that would just create another book to read!

The story of Layla and Nico is one that is full of lessons! In Bad Idea they discovered a love like no other but time was not on their side! In lost ones we start with quite the shocker in Layla’s life and one that will dictate decisions made in her journey! We also see that Nico is experiencing that life isn’t going as he had hoped! Both are lost in their worlds and trying to find a way to make it back to who they were instead of realizing they need to see who they want to be!

Their story of far from over and I can’t wait to see what is in store for this couple! This is a second book in a series and is not standalone so if interested (and by all means you should be because Nico and Layla are amazing) grab book 1 Bad Idea!

Lost Ones is the second book in Nicole French’s Bad Idea series, and it worked perfectly fine as a standalone novel. Despite references to events that clearly took place in the first book, I was not lost when reading this. That being said, based upon review I have read, this one would have packed a stronger punch if I had read the prior book first. Therefore, while you can read this without having read the first, the consensus seems to be not to do so.

All in all, this was an enjoyable enough read. There was plenty of drama and angst throughout this one, a story that leaves you curious as to how it will play out, and yet I wasn’t crazy about this. In theory it should have ticked all of my boxes, but I never really felt the connection to the story that I had been hoping for. It was interesting, but it was not sucked in as deeply as I would have liked to be.

I think one of the reasons for my inability to become as attached as I could have been was the length of this one. It wasn’t an overly long story, but at times it felt as though it was. Things seemed to go in circles somewhat, they did not feel as though they were moving forward. I wanted to know what was going to happen, yet there were points when I did not feel as though we were moving towards answers. Due to this, there were times when I found my attention slipping slightly.

Although enjoyable, this wasn’t quite what I had expected. I may go and read the prior book, and then come back to this one, to see if my view changes with more knowledge – however, it is not something that is very high up my list of things to do.

"I have a feeling that no matter how long it's been, whether we're twenty or eighty, Layla's always going to be my girl."

I'd like to tell you that Lost Ones picks up right where Bad Idea left us hanging, but that's not what we get. We get so much more....

"Do you ever feel this way?" ... "What way?" ... "Like we can't get close enough?"

The cliffhanger Bad Idea left us with was pretty hard and I'm just glad I was lucky enough to read both books right after another. Lost Ones actually picks up where Bad Idea ended - and I'm not talking about the cliffhanger epilogue. It tells us the story how two lost souls try to find their own ways and at the same time the ways back to each other.

"They tell you how good it feels when you find love for the first time. But no one ever tells you how much love hurts when you have to let it go."

The road we are following Nico and Layla is pretty rocky with lots of cross roads. Each decision they make leads them further apart and brings them closer together at the same time. As a reader you live right in the world of loss and heartbreak all over again.

"We've been lost, floundering around apart, finding only after the damage has been done that it's together that we're found."

My heart aches for both of their lost souls and with each heartbreak my heart got heavier and heavier. The story we follow in Lost Ones is spiked with very heavy topics only to peak in breaking Layla in thousand pieces and more.

"We aren't lost anymore, baby, because we found each other again."

The growth Nico and Layla go through in Lost Ones is pretty impressive. Even though they tend to break each others hearts again and again like they did in Bad Idea. But Lost Ones shows us, that true love exists and it'll always find a way to exist no matter how often you need to pick up the pieces of your heart. True love will always mend what was broken.

"Saudade. ... it's like when you yearn for something or someone. Like your heart speaks to their heart, and when they're gone, it's that emptiness that remains. It's a longing, maybe for something that never even happened." - I saved this quote for the end of my review because it perfectly describes the feeling accompanying you while reading Lost Ones.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

As I was reading this I was also thinking of ways on how I’d write a review and wondering have I ever read a book by this author and also if I’ll be honest, my feelings kept changing about how I felt with Nico and Layla.

This story is about love between a young naive 19yo and an older guy 26yo, but like the saying sometimes go ‘age doesn’t matter’ or ‘you can’t help who you fall in love with’ but for these two it was instantaneous and I knew I was going to write a review.

In Book 1 that’s where every thing started and ended on a cliffhanger for these two and I couldn’t wait to delve into Book 2 and lets just say that everything good and bad happened and takes us through the hardships of Layla and Nico’s feelings for one another. Now, all I can say is that not all seems what happens ends in fairytales but I felt like Layla was a tad too naive as expected from someone so young but she does have some strong traits (which I liked) and she was too caught up in her ways and too proud to admit that she’s wrong or even taking heed of her friends. Now, please don’t hate me but it’s what I felt at times with Layla and yes I got annoyed at Nico too. Now, nothing could have gone wrong if both just admitted and not be so stubborn with how they really felt but as I said before this book “Lost Ones” is basically about letting go, making wrong choices, abuse, family breakups, second chances, opportunities and also it’s about culture that you’ll learn of the secondary characters and finding their own paths and I really was rooting for Nico to do it and find his path but he’s such a sweetheart that I teared up and knowing he was going through the struggles of the heart and especially life but also the fear of failing but never in a doubt did he ever give up for he always thought of Layla.

So, I think I’m not going to give more away but it’s a story worth reading and I’m kind of am looking forward to more of Nico and Layla.

Wow is all I can say right now about this book. Nicole French has done it again with book two of the Bad Idea series. She has once again taken us on an emotional journey with Layla and Nico. The variations of emotions she makes you feel as you read is outstanding. The heart wrenching pain that makes us want to cry because our hearts are breaking for these characters. The joy we feel at moments make us want to cheer. As I read through the painful parts that Nicole makes us feel I couldn't help but wish for a HEA for these characters that we've become invested in while reading this series. I've finished reading and yet my heart is still broken, yet filled with so much joy for Layla and Nico. If I could rate this as more than a 5 star I would and I highly recommend that everyone reads the Bad Idea series.

I finished this book awhile ago but due to my personal life and being frustrated as hell with this book, I never got around to updating it. This book sucked for me. I guess it was suppose to suck. Not the writing or the story or the continuation of plot but just the whole damn aggravating idea of what these two people were doing, even with the best of intentions. If there's one thing that's true about life, it's you can travel anywhere in this world but you'll still find yourself, your problems and your heart wherever you end up. They don't get left behind. That majority of this book was Layla and Nico coast to coast away from each other, Nico - finding himself and Layla - slowly losing herself.

I am so rooting for these two but I really want to abduct them at this point and sit them down with Dr Phil for some no-nonsense wake up calls. Urghhh, the angst!

Omg I want to give this book more then 5 stars. I absolutely love Nico and of course Layla too. I am not even sure I could do justice writing this review of how much I loved this book. When I read Bad Idea, I wasn't expecting to be so hooked. But dang it if that Bad Idea wasn't the best Idea ever. This book takes you places you don't even see coming. Every time I read about them I feel like I'm right there. It's like I just don't ever want to see them end and darn if I'm not excited to want to read more...This is one series I've talked alot about lately and I will continue to do so. I'm looking forward to more. So yes I would give this so many more stars then it allows. Highly recommend but I would start at the beginning. Since this is actually the 3rd book. 😉💗. I LOVED IT! You will not be disappointed in Nico or Layla. Both trying to figure out what they want in life. Will they be able to figure it out and be together or will life find them going separate ways. Will their love stay strong enough to survive it all. Must read..
Love! Love! Love! So many emotions, so many feelings. All the characters were just amazing. I never want to stop. So yes Bad Idea series is getting so much more then I ever expected...sorry I had to add more. Their story will stay with you long after reading. I'm still enthralled by this series and this book. "Saudade" is my favorite and once you read this you'll understand and love it too.

GAH! No words! I have no words to describe how truly fantastic this book was! I love love LOVE Nico and Layla! This book, just SO MUCH angst! My heart feels like it was wrenched out, but in a good way! I love how this author tells a story, its so all encompassing, I felt like when I closed my eyes I was there in NY with them. I'm recommending this story to everyone I know, if you are a fan of love in general, you will love this series. I just loved how perfectly imperfect these characters were. The way this writer weaves the whole tapestry with her words, its a whole world she writes, each character is so fully developed and multidimensional which makes you feel like you know more about the hero and heroine, its a more fully formed picture and I appreciate the opportunity to learn everything there is to know about them, it adds to the appeal. This was just an all around great read!

A City of Stars!!!!

This book gutted me and, let me tell you, there aren't many authors whom I let myself be tortured by like that. If the style hadn’t been flawless and if I hadn't know things would be okay in the end, I would have jumped ship. Because this book hurt. It hurts because it’s real. Because even when you want to throttle the characters for their choices, you realize that you would have done made the same ones, had you been in their shoes.

Layla’s character goes through a deep transformation in this second instalment and the portrayal of such metamorphosis was exceptionally well done. It was gradual and it happened to a molecular level, small and big traumas accumulating and changing her, until she was almost unrecognizable.

On the other hand we have Nico, this man who makes me so proud I feel like I’m his momma or something… although I’d tap that fine ass ten ways from Sunday, so maybe momma is not exactly the best relationships example. Aaaanyway, I’m digressing. Nico is such a mature character and in this book we see him fight for his dream, but also for his girl. What I love the most about him is how, even in his time apart from Layla, he always thinks of her as his one and only. Being in his head, I had no doubts they would end up together. The separation seemed almost non-consequential because the feelings they have for each other are so strong, they literally cannot stay away from each other.

My girl. It's a little crazy how fast I slide into thinking that way again, but I can't help it. I have a feeling that no matter how long it's been, whether we're twenty or eighty, Layla's always going to be my girl.

Saudade, the Portuguese word that means, in a very simplistic translation, nostalgia, is the perfect representation of what they are feeling. With how things are currently in my own personal life, having left family, friends and a life behind me to start fresh, it’s a theme that resonated quite loudly. I could relate to Nico because of this. You are never completely whole again, and you know you are the only one responsible for the separation. You are doing what is best for you, for your future, but it’s mostly selfish and the sacrifices aren’t just the ones you make, but also the ones those who love you are forced to make. I could understand his action and agreed with them, but nonetheless his pain reverberated through me.

When I first realized that this book was going to be mostly about their time apart, I could sense a lot of heartache. I usually do not appreciate it when there are not many scenes with the two characters together, but in this case the author found clever ways to still have them around each other so that it wasn't an issue.

If you have a woman like Layla, you don't work on the one fuckin' night of the year you're supposed to show her you love her. You buy her every fuckin' rose in Manhattan. You take her out for a night on the town. You never stop kissing her because her mouth tastes better than water. It feels better than air.

My favorite scene of all was undoubtedly Thanksgiving. I loved the whole atmosphere, the carefree spirits, and how Nico and Layla basically outed themselves as a couple in front of his whole family. Right there and then, I felt like I could see their future, wrapped in the golden halo of unconditional love, family, warmth.

I don’t want to spoil the twists and turns of the plot. I’ll only say that this book touches a very important issue that today is more current than ever and will find many readers able to relate to it, unfortunately.

I now look forward to the last book in this series. The ending made my heart soar and I could not contain my happiness because I have a hunch book three will be the perfect conclusion.

I was extremely excited to read this book since I loved book #1 in this series so much. Bad Idea was so good, I absolutely adored it. I am often nervous about sequels though when I loved the first book so much. It causes high expectations and are often not met. SO, while I say I was excited, I was also kind of scared to read this! There was no reason to be though. Nicole French wrote a follow-up that was just as good as the first book.
Right from the start I was absorbed into the book, loving Layla and Nico just as much as before. I loved the characters, the setting, and the little glimpses into the Puerto Rican and Brazilian cultures. I felt like I was there with them in NYC surrounded by the vivid characters that the author was able to create.
I don't want to say too much about the actual storyline and give anything away, but I think anyone who read Bad Idea would know that this book would contain some struggles and emotional stuff. My heart broke right along with the characters during the difficult times. There were a few times I was on the verge of tears feeling all of their emotions. I love a book that makes me emotional!
Lost Ones is an amazing book that lives up to the expectations of Bad Idea. Nicole French did such a great job of continuing Nico and Layla's story.
*I received a free ARC but that in no way influenced my review. My review would have been written the exact same whether I got it free now or purchased it on 3/14 when it's released!*

10 stars is not even close enough- I sit here before you still crying and trying to decide what I need to write so you understand just how amazingly beyond brilliant Nicole French is as an author. I fell in love with Nico in book one, but in this book I feel in love with his strength, his heart, and his character. What an amazing heart wrenching, heart warming, shockingly emotional, and uplifting book all at the same time. The story of Layla and Nico is one that had to be told, and one that ever reader has to read. I cannot say enough words to fully describe the amazement I felt as I read this book from page one until I reached the end. Thank you Nicole French for putting your words on paper and allowing us to read and fall in love with them.

5 Stars are not enough - I cannot even explain how good this story was. From the opening pages to the last one this book was an emotional journey filled with love, hate, sacrifice, honesty and redemption. Then you also have to throw in conflicts with divorce, abuse, drugs, long distance love and last but not least letting go of the one you love only to hope you get her back in the end. This book will stay with me long after release day and will be one I will reread over and over.

This book is it the reason that I read. I have loved Nico and Layla from the start but this book made me love them more. Well rounded and excellently written these characters are some of the realist characters I have ever read. Lost Ones has it all I cried, laughed, and had all the feels from this book. Nicole you are the master (which I already told you) I can't wait to see where you take it from here. I loved this book for so many reasons.

Wow. I hate that my rating went from 4.5 ( Bad Idea ) to "dnf" in book 2. I went further than I would have if I were reading it without obligation, but I decided to pack it in at about 50%.

Read why between the spoiler tags if you want more info. I don't want to give people too much of a look inside if they don't want to know ahead of time.

I wanted to like it as much as the first book, and I may revisit to give it another chance. If it weren't for Bad Idea that wouldn't be a factor in the least, so props to Nicole French for that.

I can't give any stars - I dnf'd at 50%.

The second installment of the series is quite depressing. Our two main characters, Nico & Layla find themselves a little lost, hence the title. Nico, in need of a change & space from his family moves to California, still working security at bars, only in a different state across the country. It killed him to move away from Layla but he felt that living apart for awhile would help with their personal growth & rid themselves of their demons & insecurities. Nico, a smart & wise man of 26, felt unworthy, looked upon as a low-life since dropping out of college to work to support his family & his ethnic features might have played a role. He hoped his move to sunny climes would give him more focus, make more money & finally resolve any self-doubts hindering his need to better himself.
Layla, feeling lost herself, saddened by the demise of her parents marriage, their lack of interest in her life & of course the heartache from missing Nico. She decides to move on as he has not established a date to return to NYC. Feeling sad & alone Layla starts dating a student from Argentina. Giancarlo is a nasty piece of work; controlling, abusive, bad tempered & later found to be involved in criminal activity. Why would Layla put up with his crap? Fear, loneliness, fragile...she is falling apart.
That cliffhanger at the end of the first book? Be prepared to read 50% or more before finding any answers. The first half of this story went very slowly, spanning six months to a year. This author likes to describe the day to day activities of her characters, their feelings, the scenery. Not necessarily a negative to some but others may tire of her writing style. The last quarter of the book brought sadness, hope & yay...finally happiness. For me the slow spots were worth it. Nico & Layla are better people in the end, not only together but as individuals. Looking forward to the third & last book of the series.

Lost Ones by Nicole French was exceptional in every way. I usually write a review in just 30 minutes or less. It’s not hard to find words usually to express my feelings about a book. I mean, sometimes I struggle with the actual rating of a book – meaning whether it falls between a 1 to 5 scale - but not finding actual words to tell you what I thought of a book? Yah, that’s not a challenge for me! Yet, I am legitimately struggling with telling readers just own amazing, phenomenal, utterly captivated I was after reading Lost Ones, book two in the Bad Idea Trilogy by Nicole French. Make no mistake, this author will knock you on your butt with her talents! Do not underestimate her. Because I assure you, as a newer indie author, she has moved to the very top of my list of favorites. After reading Bad Idea, I was completely floored by her talent. Bad Idea was my first book by Nicole so when I started reading her work, I really had no idea what she was capable of. The complete opposite was true this time.

description

Going into Lost Ones, I knew that Nicole French was exceedingly talented. Her books are very character driven, and multilayered. They are exceedingly well written. Since Lost Ones is the second book in a trilogy, I knew that I loved the characters and I was excited to resume the tale of love between Nico and Layla. Having said all this, I cannot adequately express the emotions that Nicole summoned in me between the pages of this book. I read it and immediately wanted to start it over from the beginning. I saw so much character progression between Bad Idea and Lost Ones. More then I was prepared for. By the end of Bad Idea, Nico and Layla have discovered a love that is life altering. But they also discovered that to love that completely, one must be willing to let the other person go. Lost Ones continues with hardships and obstacles that exist aren’t limited to distance. Nico must learn what it is to live away from the only city he has ever known, and Layla’s world completely collapses. Those issues are really just the tip of the iceberg. Lost Ones contains elements which were hard to read due to the subject matter. The angst in this book is jacked up about a trillion percent… and while romance readers take for granted that ever present HEA, they shouldn’t discount the journey their hero and heroine must undertake to reach that HEA.

description

I am not ashamed of my social media stocking of all things Nicole French [ 😉 ] or my endless requests for book three – when book two isn’t even released to the public yet. (Thank the lord I am a blogger and got this before that because I was having Nico withdrawls…) In discussing Lost Ones, it was suggested that I was completely in denial and potentially too close to certain characters of this story, BUT that’s just rubbish! Ha-Ha. I thoroughly LOVED this book and wouldn’t hesitate to offer it as a ten star read. Clearly with the early reviews I am seeing I am not the only one who feels strongly about this book. Also, I have no doubt that one day Nicole French will someday have a traditional publishing deal like many A-list authors as opposed to being an indie author. Her storytelling abilities exceed many of these so-called A-list authors that I have read. But don’t take my word for it. You should absolutely buy the book and read it for yourself. I am sure you will agree with my critique of both the author and the books she has released to date.

I loved, loved, loved this book. It was worth the wait. I love Nico ❤❤❤ He's just gorgeous 😍 inside and out!

Lost Ones continues Layla and Nico's story right after Bad Idea ends, they take separate paths in life but always end up back pulling towards each other. In this book they are discovering themselves and we get bunch of great news for Nico. Even though all his choices were not good at the end he gets his dream.

Layla, she gets the hard hand dealt in this book, she goes thru soooo much and I'm sorry that happened to her. I really hope things get better for her in the next part of their story.

Once again I'll say this: Nicole you did an awesome job!!!. Nicole does her homework, she doesn't guess how things would be. At the thanksgiving party I felt like I was back at my grandma's for christmas, the way you touch the delicate subject of Nico's mom and the spanish words in between just a great job. I love Nico and Layla story and I'm really looking forward to read the next one and anything else you write.

How do you say what you feel when you can't put into words. This is a emotional book with ups and down, heartache ,heartbreak, love and loneliness from both Nico and Layla it makes you wonder how they can come back from what they go thur. These two will put thur the ringer with emotions that will rip your heart out and as you try to piece it back together they break again and again.
Nico is living his dream in LA and missing Layla back home. Layla is home for the summer and gets som news that breaks her world. It's a rollet coaster for after they meet in LA. Nico is also on the same roller coaster and doesn't know what to do till a opportunity falls in his lap. Will these two be able to find their selfs with each other or will other people try and keep them apart? Amazing read that will javing you laughing one minute and crying the next.

This book was fantastic. Coming back into Layla and Nicos world, things are worse for both of them. Nico got away from NYC, but he still deals with the same stuff he hated in NY, and isn’t finding his place like he wanted to. Layla begins another year at school, but she starts dating a new guy, and things start spiraling downward with her family, friends, and new boyfriend.

This book breaks your heart, and then slowly glued it back together, before breaking it all over again. It proves that Love isn’t always easy, isn’t always just what you need in a relationship. That sometimes you and the person you loves pieces don’t quite fit together, but then sometimes they do. One click this book, you won’t be sorry.

Have you ever read a book that makes you FEEL??? Well that's exactly what happened when I read this, I cried, loved and laughed. I fell in love with Nico in Bad Idea, and then after reading this,,,, I fell more in love with him, who he is as a person, a MAN, a friend, and lover.
And Layla,, oh my poor girl, my heart broke for her so many times. I don't want to give any spoilers away, so I'll just say she goes through some very hard stuff, but like always, Nico is there to help her. These two go through so much together and apart, I can't wait to see what's next!!
OH YEAH, I almost forgot,,, I HATE QUINN!! LOL

This one wasn't my favorite. I definitely enjoyed the first book much more. And while I have never and (hopefully) will never put myself in a position like Layla did, I don't want to pretend that I know what it's like to be in an abusive relationship. I do understand that this is a story and without her having made the choices she made there wouldn't be a story, but I just couldn't get behind the idiotic decisions she was making. I seriously found myself skimming paragraphs or even whole pages because I thought my eyes were going to fall out of my head with all the eye rolling I was doing. Both of these two, Layla and Nico, were complete fucking idiots in this book.

I can’t even express through words just how amazing of an author Nicole is. She weaves a story of love and anguish, smiles and tears.

Lost Ones continues the story of Nico and Layla from Bad Idea. Where Bad Idea is lighthearted and the beginning of their love story, Lost Ones is a bit darker. Time wasn’t on their side. Nico is now in California, and after spending one last summer together with her parents, Layla is back in New York City. While Nico and Layla share some sweet moments, they also have some heartbreaking ones. This story is really about how lost they are without the other and the journey to them finding their way back.

I can’t wait to read the finale in their story, for both of them to find their true north.

I keep writing and rewriting because I cannot come up with the words to express how amazing this book was. Nicole hits every emotion with her writing . The relationship between Nico and Lalya is unbreakable. They are sole mates that cannot be together because of family obligations, societal views, toxic relationships etc. Some of these are in their own mind and some very true. It is heart breaking to watch them go through these situations and work through their life problems. This is a MUST read!!!! Nicole French is an amazing writer that really tugs at the heart strings, she makes you feel so much for these characters. Keep writing Nicole, I love Nico and Lalya....

I’m speechless!! I’ve read a lot of books and this one is now at the top of my favorites. I felt every emotion with Nico and Layla’s story. I laughed (a lot), I cried and I yelled!!

Even though Nico and Layla lived 3,000 apart you could feel the love they have for each other. There connection is undeniable, real. When tragedy hits they are brought back to each to help each other heal. This is a true love story that proves love conquers all.

I can’t wait to read the next book!!

Holy Frigging Feels!!!!!!
I've read a lot of books this year while waiting for Lost Ones to come out. I must say it did not disappoint in the slightest. Ever since reading Nicoles first book till now she always manages to bring out the feeling that the characters in the books feel. It takes a lot for someone like me to feel whats happened but time and again she does it. This book is a pure work of art. Something that should be shouted from the roof tops of the tallest buildings so that everyone gets to experience what a masterpiece this book is. the story line, characters, high, and lows are amazing. The way this book was written firmly cements for me that Nicole is a creative genius and wordsmith extraordinair!
I cant wait to read book 3, and anything else that Nicole writes!
