This brand-new devotional guide features 180 readings and prayers designed to help alleviate your stresses as you learn to live in the freedom of Almighty God, who offers tranquility for your stressed-out soul. Inspired by this promise from God's "Make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. . . . Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed.” (Romans 13:11-12 MSG), Stress Less, Pray Mor e reinforces the truth that with God, you can live stress-free every single day—whether you stress over piles of laundry, troubles at work, difficult relationships, finances, or something more.
Life is so stressful, especially for women, because we take on more than we should and feel responsible for everyone's happiness! I was a caregiver to my Mother for over four years, 24x7 care, and during that time she was my most important thing in life, but what I realized during that time, is that I completely lost myself because the caregiving was so all-consuming. I didn't take a break for four years, nor did I pay attention to myself or God,. My Mom passed away three years ago and I have been trying to find myself every since. So this book was much needed and appreciated at this time. What I found is that I can find myself, if I just spend more time with God. I now spend time each morning with God and he provides me guidance. I enjoyed each scripture reading and devotion and will continue to reread each in this book as I find it brings me comfort and peace.
“Each reading is designed to teach a woman how to live in God’s freedom and reinforces the truth that with her focus on Him, she can reconnect with the power and peace to live a more wonder-filled life every day.” ~Introduction
Everyone of these devotionals comes down to this. Is it going to help you? Is the author who wrote it talking in your language? Does she get you? Sometimes I don’t connect with a devo but it’s usually because it’s not user friendly “to me”. And I’m going to say AGAIN, if you aren’t doing something daily then this will be a good start. And I promise that you don’t want to miss the blessing this will bring to your life. The reminder that you need Him and to refocus. About the book: Each day is one verse of scripture. Next, an insightful and helpful look at the stressors and then a simple unstated pray “statement” at the bottom. This wasn’t hard or burdensome. It wasn’t boring. It really worked for me. Encouraged me. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a solid devotional. I hope this was helpful. Thanks Barbour Publishing via NetGalley.
No one will ever know how much comfort this book has brought me.
I needed this book. These days are definitely difficult and trying for me. I was really stressed and feeling down for the past few weeks.
I find the compilation of these prayers really thoughtful and beautifully done.
The pages are so beautiful with minimal illustrations.
The best part is of course the affirmations written on each page. Definitely will need a copy of my own. This is the book that will stay next to me everyday.
Thank you, Barbour Publishing, for the advance review copy.
"The more we worry, the less we pray. And the more we pray, the less we worry."
It sounds so simple. Yet, when it comes to stress, it's so hard. As women, we tend to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders and with that weight comes extreme stress. We juggle fifty million balls in the air, and at least with me I often forget that I can hand over those juggling balls to God, instead I stress out over them - how to keep them all in the air, what will happen if one of them falls. This devotional planted the seeds to help change my focus on stress. It had inspirational and motivational insights. But what was even more important to me, this devotional is peaceful. Every time I started reading it, there was a calming effect on my mind and my heart. The author guides your heart in a way to want to pray to God, she helps lay out how to have a better prayer life so you can pray more and stress less.
"You gift a lot of people with your time, sometimes more than you have to spare. But how much of your time are you gifting to God?"
For me, I don't gift nearly enough time to God. I looked forward to having some quiet time with this devotional and with God in prayer. And I know this is one I will continue to go back to over and over again. There is great truth, encouragement and strong application in this devotional. I would recommend it for anyone who struggles with stress in their lives.
Thank you to Barbour Publishing and Donna K. Maltese for providing me with a copy of this devotional in exchange for an honest review.
This is a very nice selection of devotions. Each has a scripture reading, a nice devotion that is not too long, but long enough to ponder on and be helpful in the life of a believer. Then a short prayer. I enjoyed it very much and intend to use it throughout the year and beyond.
*My thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book via Net Galley. My opinion is my own and honest.

I am relieving a copy of Stress Less, Pray More through Barbour Books and Netgalley:
This book reminds us that we all deal with stress and that it is nothing to be ashamed of. The issue comes when we let Stress completely take over or ignore it all together. We are reminded too that we need to stop trying to figure things out on our own and let the Lord help us figure them out.
The author points out too that stress is like a storm raging both within and without us drawing our attention away from God little by little.
We are reminded too that when things get difficult the Lord is there for us. We are encouraged to grow in prayer Lord.
We are encouraged to say a heartfelt prayer then dive into God's word when we are feeling stressed or distressed.
This was a very encouraging and uplifting devotional. I appreciated the ability to keep my focus on God and His plan for my life. This was a daily reminder to focus on the good, keep my eyes on the Lord, and hand my problems to Him. The scripture went along with the daily wisdom and the devotional was laid out nicely.
What a great way to start a busy day by reading a devotional in the morning and through the day. It gets my focus off work and back on God especially when I am overwhelmed.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book for my honest opinion and review.
Stress Less, Pray More - the Devotional is like others. It has a Subject - then a paragraph on the Subject - followed by a Prayer. This takes you about 1 to 2 minutes. It is to help you worry less through prayer. I received a copy of this book from the Publisher and Netgalley; All the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I received an ARC of, Stress Less, Pray More, by Donna K. Mattese. I really enjoyed meditating on this book. It helps to calm anxiety and be in the moment.
I choose to read Stress Less Pray More by Donna K.Maltese A Woman's Devotional Guide to Tranquil Living by Barbour Publishing because I live in a rural countryside where where prayers have been an important role for the community and where the contact with God is still important. Sure: we live in a material world, pretty busy, where distractions are many, a different life-style in comparison to the one lived decades ago by our ancestors keep us distant from God and prayers most of the time. There is no time for God it seems; not as in the remote past where there were precise moments, in particular after dinner, all dedicated to God, and where, in the families it was impossible to...escape away from prayers, rosary and so on. Our life is made by a different society, our roles with the time changed, and responsibilities increased; a family counts a lot of stress and work for a woman and at the end of the day leave exhausted, too stressed for saying a prayer, for thanking Lord for this life. This book contains 180 readings and prayers for every woman. Praying is not just an obligation, it's also an occasion for saying to God thanks for this life, for being alive, for support us and for being close to us. These readings want to reduce the stress of our dail- life and are made for spending some moments with God; precious readings for reflecting about life and for restoring our contact with God. Every reading starts with a verse from the Scripture, a reflection and a a final prayer.
It's a beautiful, inspiring and at the same time profound, meditative book.
