I have read almost all of the My Heart Belongs series and while I enjoyed all of them this one has been my favorite one so far. I really love the fact that each one features a different city and we learn about the beauty of it and what it's unique for. Glenwood Springs has beautiful healing springs. When she was little more than a young woman Millie Cooper was set to marry Stephen Drexel but his brother put a stop to it. Feeling wronged this fisherman's daughter who grew up dirt poor and has now become a nurse is summoned by this brother to care for his elderly mother and Stephen's expectant wife. Can she do this, after all this is the woman who made her feel as if she was never good enough for her family and also the woman who is now Stephan's wife. When you're a nurse, professionalism must win out over any petty thoughts. Millie works hard to guard her heart but she's not perfect and I love seeing her real life struggles and how she calls on God in her times of need. The character's are very well developed. This is the author's debut book and it's on my keeper shelf as the story is worth reading again.

"It was his voice. . . . . . How could a voice be so familiar, yet so forgotten?"

Millie Cooper traveled all the way to Glenwood Springs, Colorado, away from her childhood home in Nantucket, after her future took a drastic turn for the worse over a broken engagement. Now six years later, while serving the local community as an apprenticed nurse, she has come face to face with a desperate man; the older brother who, on that fateful night, informed Millie that she would never become Mrs. Stephen Drexel.

John Drexler's first words upon seeing Millie Cooper again were far from eloquent. "Millie Cooper. You've grown." How could he possibly expect "the fisherman's daughter" to serve as his mother's private nurse and oversee the final months of his sister-in-law's pregnancy? "Even if I persuade her, our troubles will be far from over", he muses. However, as the ever faithful head of his family, he had done what had to be done, he had asked. Now it was up to Miss Cooper to decide if she could put the past behind her, while John has to decide just what he really thinks about Millie Cooper.

This book far exceeded simple expectations, for the roads traveled by its characters are steep and treacherous; switchbacks appear without warning and storms unleash their fury with nary a breeze. But just as the warm healing waters of the Colorado springs bring relief to so many, this lovely, romantic story demonstrates how God beautifully "sanctifies our deepest distresses".

This is the first book I've read by Rebecca Jepson, but it won't be the last. I loved her strong but broken characters, and the fantastic plot that could have so easily been misplayed into something soap-opera-ish, but wasn't. Instead, she's woven an interesting tale of faith and redemption and romance. Millie has had so many losses in her life - the untimely death of her mother, a broken engagement with the man of her dreams, her father's drowning - what would it mean to be married and surrounded by family once again? An unexpected assignment as a private duty nurse eventually leads her to consider that question. But how can she be sure of God's will for her life after so many disappointments? In the beauty of the Colorado mountains, Millie wrestles to understand God's promises and to lay hold of all He has planned for her. I finished this book in one day, because I couldn't wait to see the path she chose!

I really enjoyed this read, and the pages flew as I was reading, a poor girl, rich boy, back in the late 1880’s, and in beautiful Colorado.
You might want to have the tissues handy for this one, there are some very sad parts, as we meet reality head on, and our girl is there for everyone, including those who seem to really dislike her.
We walk in Millie Cooper’s shoes, and as her we are a strong, smart young woman, and full of compassion for her fellow man. She doesn’t seem to be very lucky in love, but we see where God is leading her, and how he is there for her.
I actually wanted more once the last page was turned, but the story did wrap up like I would have wanted it to.

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Barbour, and was not required to give a positive review.

Part of the reason I chose MY HEART BELONGS IN GLENWOOD SPRINGS, COLORADO was the setting, as I lived in the Centennial State for six years. I know how gorgeous the area is and credit the author, Rebecca Jepson, with gracefully using location to encircle the story’s heart.

This lovely historical romance, set in 1888, is part of the popular My Heart Belongs Series. Protagonist Millie Cooper was once engaged to the Drexel family’s wealthy scion, whose older brother intervened to kept them apart. She’s forced to move away and does so to peaceful Colorado. But to her dismay, the family relocates there six years later. That’s bad enough, but this time she’s asked to provide nursing care for the pregnant wife and the snooty mother of the man she’d once loved—by the brother who broke them apart. Themes of faith, forgiveness and reconciliation leavened with romance create a deeply satisfying read. 5/5

Grateful to Barbour Publishing, Inc. and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are fully mine.

I will be with you, your troubles to bless.

I’m still befuddled, my heart still racing and my emotions still raw from this story so forgive me if my review makes little sense! It packs a punch that leaves you wanting more of these characters even though it has a very satisfying, if not nail biting ending. Seriously, you’ll be on the edge of your seat like I was in more than a few scenes. Without giving much of anything away, it’s so hard to form a coherent review that still makes the reader long for it; as if they simply can’t live without reading this for themselves!

Millie, what can I say but I love her! Coming into her own after a heartbreak six years ago; from a lowly fisherman’s daughter to respected nurse. Fleeing her past life to start over must have taken great bravery & determination. She’s caring and has a natural knack for making her patients feel at ease, even in the midst of their suffering. I don’t think there’s a stranger she’s met yet, or they wouldn’t be for long after meeting her. But as it happens in some stories, the past catches up to her in human form and she either meets it head-on or shrinks back to the mousy young woman she was.

Ah yes, the older brother John! The one that stole what could have been her happily-ever-after with younger brother Stephen. He feels the weight of responsibility on his shoulders after their father died years ago. Making decisions that best suited the family in spite of great pain he inflicted on the young lovers. If it weren’t for his mother’s failing health and the concern for Stephens’s pregnant wife, he would have never sought out or asked for Millie’s help. As for Stephen, well, he has his hands full with his young family and many regrets about the past. Since I don’t wish to spoil it for other readers, that’s all I will say about the story.

Past meets present; cue the tension, conflict and drama as these three lives collide under vastly different circumstances! This has a depth that I didn’t see coming and stole my breath at times. I was so invested that the world around me disappeared. Did someone say romance…oh my…I needed my fainting couch & smelling salts or at the very least a fan blasting ice cold in my face! I was a puddle melted on the floor. What clinched this for me was the strong faith thread. It comes naturally and in all the right places without being overbearing or as some would say, preachy. The characters struggled with their faith in very real ways that we might find our own selves doing. I can’t recommend this enough; I didn’t want it to end! I felt like the author could have made it longer if she wanted to and it still would have not been long enough for me. That’s how good this is!

Glenwood Springs, Colorado, 1888. The peaceful surroundings belie the burgeoning turmoil that enters Millie Cooper’s life once again. As a poor fisherman’s daughter from Nantucket, she has ventured west and established herself as a nurse, working under a kindly doctor. The heartbreak of her past seemingly behind her, she has settled into the routine of her new life. However, when she reluctantly agrees to accept a position as personal attendant to a condescending, asthmatic woman, her past returns with a vengeance. Forced to confront what she had hoped was behind her—and the fact of her lingering hurt—she strives to find peace in the midst of life’s storms.

From the start, “My Heart Belongs in Glenwood Springs” captured and held my interest. Millie makes a dynamic character, with an independence that is unique for the time period and that serves as both a blessing and a hindrance given the constraints of nineteenth-century society. There are many twists and turns in the plot as characters emerge and interact with one another, and as a result, the novel’s conclusion is not clear-cut, with the suspense lasting until the end. This is difficult to accomplish in works of this nature, with a strong thread of romance and redemption and what can easily become a cookie-cutter narrative. As Millie’s story illustrates, healing sometimes comes long after the initial hurt, but God’s grace and mercy can always be found in all of life’s circumstances, guiding us toward His good purposes.

My Heart Belongs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado : Millie’s Resolve by Rebecca Jepson is part of a historical series by Barbour.

I am really enjoying these diverse novels about eras past.

It is 1888 and Millie Cooper has made her way out west to Colorado after a romantic disappointment in Nantucket. She is now a respected nurse working for Dr. Murphy in Glenwood Springs. Much to her amazement, John Drexel, older brother of the man she had come to love, is seeking a nurse for his ailing mother. To make matters worse, his brother’s wife is in need of a midwife. She is certain to encounter Stephen. Should she take the position?

The story unfolds against the glorious backdrop of the rivers and mountains of Colorado. The characters are haunted by their own memories and find it difficult to avoid the history they share. Can they move past the old hurts and forge ahead with compassion and forgiveness? What does the future hold when complications arise?

Millie is resourceful in her nursing duties and loyal to a fault. John is now the patriarch of the family and takes his many responsibilities seriously. Stephen seems to go through life with a more carefree attitude. Their mother, Katherine, is struggling with asthma and a prickly disposition.

Rebecca Jepson has captured the flavor of Colorado in 1888. She has penned a romantic tale sure to keep your interest. I am a fan of historical fiction. I enjoyed this tale of an early western spa town with the scenic vistas and customs of a bygone era.

A historical romance in the lovely setting of Glenwood Springs, Colorado! A town surrounded by beautiful mountains, and rushing rivers, Millie had a perfect place to run away from her troubles in Nantucket. Now years later in 1888, her painful past has caught up with her, as she is called upon to help out as a nurse to the very people who caused her pain.

There was a lot to like and admire about Millie. She is knowledgeable, hardworking, courageous and determined to do her job well. She serves the family who are still unkind to her in many ways, but she selflessly sticks it out to the best of her abilities as a nurse and companion. She has a lot to overcome in her matters of the heart too. I like how she clings to the lines of the hymn for encouragement when times are difficult, and when she feels tired and discouraged. That God could somehow bless our trials, to turn them into something good if we trust Him, is an inspiring rope to cling to in times of trouble.

The main romance here had a lot of ups and downs, complicated with side characters and miscommunication. For a strong woman, Millie struggled a lot with decisions of the heart. I felt badly for her in her loneliness and wanted to climb into the book to encourage her at times! The dialogue was often awkward, but the author uses it well to create romantic tension. When the couples finally sort themselves out, it made for a nice resolution. A satisfying story overall.

Recommend to readers who enjoy clean historical romances with faith.

Millie left her Nantucket home and traveled to Glenwood Springs to be nurse to Dr. Murphy after a high class gentleman broke their engagement and left. Now Stephen, her ex-fiancee, along with his pregnant wife and children, his brother John, and his mother have all come to Glenwood Springs in hopes that his mother will be cured of asthma. John comes to Dr. Murphy to find a nurse for his mother; and, of course, the only nurse available with knowledge of asthma is Millie. Thus begins a tangled web that leads Millie finally to her true love.

This was definitely one of the deeper plots I have read so far in the My Heart Belongs series. Jepson presents an anguished love triangle involving Millie with the snobbish Drexel family. Mrs. Drexel was such a snob and her behavior and comments to Millie were deplorable. Stephen still was self-absorbed and hadn't matured much in the eight years since he was involved with Millie. John lacked self-confidence and needed better communication skills with women. But in the end, all of them grew and changed and became better people. I would have liked to see a bit deeper spiritual content included.

These books can be read as stand-alones as each is written by a different Christian author.

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH NET GALLEY. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

I've had my ups and downs with the My Heart Belongs... series, and I am happy to say that this book makes it into the "Up" category! This was also my first exposure to this author, and I hope it won't be the last!

I was actually surprised by this book! I thought I wouldn't like it, but I really did! I loved how flawed the characters were, they were so much more realistic to me because of that! I related the most with Millie, who was hard-working and dedicated, as well as loving. I loved watching her heart soften toward the family that stood in the way of her happiness. The faith aspect in this story was actually really well done, woven in with a subtle, and yet realistic touch. This is a story that would go far to help the uncertain among the faith with their struggles!

On the whole, I really enjoyed this story and would definitely read more by this author!

I have read all of the My Heart Belongs series, all written by different authors, so I was very interested in Millie’s Resolve, written by Rebecca Jepson- a new to me author. I was pleasantly surprised by this author’s ability to tell a rather riveting tale of lost love, new love, past and present colliding. I enjoyed it immensely. All the other stories were good, but something about this one made it my favorite. It may have simply been the storyline: affluent family does not want second son to marry poor girl. Big brother breaks them up. And now six years later everything comes to a head when the world becomes a bit smaller and everybody is reunited again. I will simply say that I really enjoyed the romance in this one; it carried me away from my everyday routine. I look forward to more of this new favorite author’s work.

Loved this story! The title says "Millie's Resolve" but I think it is just as much John's story too.
The responsibility of being in charge of his family, (mother, brother his brother's wife and children) always putting their needs above his own.
"Where the past and present collide and a woman is on the precipice of unexpected love."
I love that line from the description! Such a precipice Millie finds herself on too. Millie is faced with difficult situations as a nurse for Dr. Murphy but they do not compare with the things she must deal with in her new position as the private nurse to Katherine Drexel (a horrible, snooty woman who thinks Millie not good enough for her family).
Millie leans on her faith during her many trials, occasionally needing reminders she is not alone.

There is more than one heart that belongs in Glenwood Springs. I recommend reading this book to find out who those hearts belong to.

I think this has been my favorite in the My Heart Belongs series. I have not read this author before, but enjoyed her sense of time and place and her characterization. The characters are flawed people, each dealing with emotional hurts and loss that influence how they think and act. It is a story of redemption and how if we wait on the Lord, He will meet our needs and bless us beyond measure. Caution....you may need tissues and may not be able to put down. I really enjoyed this and recommend.

this is Millie Cooper and John Drexel's story.
She peered around the corner of the stairwell at the man, who was talking to Dr. Murphy in the office across the entrance hall. He stood against a backdrop of towering golden cliffs and forested green mountains, visible through the office window.
the equal of any doctor, even if she’s never been to medical school. I’ve taught her all I could these past five years. The only procedure she hasn’t undertaken is performing surgery.”
“No doubt we’ll require the services of a midwife before long as well,”John said.
The sight of John Drexel took Millie on a slippery journey, a downward spiral she had no control over. In a matter of seconds, she went from a confident nurse in the Rocky Mountains to a trembling girl on the Nantucket shoreline. The one who was deemed unworthy of a man’s love and devotion. How can I look at him and not be angry? Worse, how could she look at him and not think of Stephen?

I could feel the emotion in this book and the turmoil of their miscommunications and assumptions pull at my heart. It made me cry, This book is the next in the My Heart Belongs series and it takes us to 1888 mining country in Colorado. Rebecca Jepson gives her character depth and feeling that I enjoyed. Millie is a fisherman's daughter who has changed her life and moved west to Glenwood Springs, Colorado and is working with her mentor Dr. Murphy when a stranger comes into the office she can't shake the feeling of knowing him. She has no idea way his voice and look is so familiar until he comes to ask her to be his mother's nurse. Millie is taken back 6 years to the worst day of her life because he caused it. John is surprised to see Millie because he's never forgotten her and is not good with dealing with women. Millie must decide if she is going to work for him and take care of his mother and sister-in-law. Who happens to be married to the man Millie was to marry all those years ago. When Mrs. Drexler has an asthma attack Millie is called to help and decides to take care of her. As time goes by and Millie puts in place things to help her patient she deals with her prejudice against Millie. Meanwhile Millie start a tentative relationship with her other patient. Trying with God's help to move on with her life and get over her heartache. When a few cases of typhoid come to light Millie must try to save her ex-finance's wife and the child she carries, but when she can't the husband lashes out at her and leaves. John has gone back to Philadelphia and can't forget Millie. When she sends him word of what happened he immediately leaves for Colorado. The crisis brings Mille and John closer together until John finds the locket that his brother gave to Millie all those years ago. Millie can't figure out why he's pulled away and Mrs. Drexel reveals the family secrets to Millie, Just about the time the work out their misunderstanding his brother returns and proposes to Millie, Millie takes time to consider and gives John a chance to give her a reason not to say yes to the proposal but when he doesn't because he thinks Millie still loves his brother. John can't stand being in the same house with the woman he loves so he moves to the hotel he's built. Meanwhile Mille is going ahead with wedding plans but not really excited about it. The day of the wedding arrives and John is devastated when he sees Millie in her wedding dress and can't let her marry his brother. When Millie's locket is left behind that gives John the opportunity to declare his love for Millie and stop the wedding which he does by going to his brother. Just as the ceremony starts John stops it and Millie thinks its the past repeating itself in a more horrific way but just outside the church John gets the chance to explain and they declare their love for each other. Six months later they are celebrating the up coming wedding of Millie's best friend and John's brother. Millie and John are already married and he's just returned from back east from selling the estate back there and moving permanently to Colorado. While Millie went back to working with her mentor.

“My Heart Belongs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado...Millie’s Resolve” is a 256 page Historical Christian Romance written by Author Rebecca Jepson. Published by Barbour it was the first book I have read by that author, but it definitely will not be the last.

Glenwood Springs, Colorado is a town with a healing spa. The story is set there in 1888 and is the tale of Millie Cooper. She is a caring young woman running from her past. Millie grew up in Nantucket as the daughter of a poor fisherman. One summer she fell in love with the son of a wealthy family on vacation. The results were heartbreaking for Millie and the book opens with her now in Glenwood Springs working beside dear Dr. Murphy. Everything is going wonderfully until the brother of the man she fell in love with came into town and turned Millie’s world upside down.
He needs a nurse for his family and Millie seems to be the one. This man prevented her from marrying his brother and now wants her to care for his mother and brother’s pregnant wife. Oh my!

Author Jepson presents a fresh new story that I have not ever read. It deals with forgiveness, regret, mercy, love, grudges, social classes, faith, illness, and trust. The author tackles issues in 1888 that we can relate to now. Her writing style is lovely. The words just lowly effortlessly making the story easy to read and book hard to put down. Twist and turns are added to keep readers on our toes. I was emotionally invested within a few pages. The descriptions were so good felt like a fly on the wall watching things happen.

The characters are so well rounded and defined that I felt like I knew them. Not only did I become friends with the main characters but secondary ones, too. I loved Dr. Murphy! Some characters I scolded, others I emphasized with, and the majority I wanted to stay my friends.

“Millie’s Resolve” is a touching historical, Christian romance. The lesson to trust God is prevalent throughout it. I loved on page 192 the lines “The Master of the crashing sea was with her. He was Lord...even of this storm.” This beautiful message of faith is woven in the story so well. Anyone will benefit from reading it and feel inspired. Nonbelievers shouldn’t find it off putting or preachy. This is just a great story.

I highly recommend this. It is one of those books I wanted to finish reading, couldn’t put down, but did not ever want to be over. What a dilemma! It is a complete story, no cliffhanger. I just loved it. Any reading group would love discussing this delightful tale. There are no discussion questions but just asking “what did you think” will start words flowing. This gets a big 5 out of 5 star rating from me. Loved it!

I have a new favorite in the My Heart Belongs Series. I adored this book and the characters within. This one was a little bit heavier with the Christian elements than some of the others but it didn't bother me. I enjoyed it. I did want to let people know that because not every reader likes that in their books. This book was definitely a story of sorrow, healing, putting aside hurt and angry and seeking for God's love and forgiveness to heal hearts. Very well written and I loved the characters.

Millie has found peace and purpose in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. She has no family left and moved West with a doctor and his daughter, who is Millie's age. He has been a great tutor in helping her learn medicine and becoming a very competent nurse. Millie loves her life, there is lingering heartache from her past, but she feels she has found peace. That is until the day she hears HIS voice. What are the chances? The man who ruined her life. The man who came between her and marrying the man she loved, Stephen Drexel. Who is this man? John Drexel, Stephen's brother.

Millie finds herself immersed once again in the Drexel family's lives. This time, not as the fisherman's daughter but as their nurse. Can she put aside the pain of the past, the pain of the present and the belittling to provide the best care that she prides herself on giving?

Millie is a saint. I loved her character. I loved watching her inner struggles and dilemmas. She wanted to move past her past pain, especially since she was caring for the matriarch, Mrs. Drexel, and the pregnant wife of Stephen Drexel. Talk about having pain flaunted in your face, all that could have been yours. I enjoyed reading about her nursing the patients, but also her gentleness and kindness when she could have chosen to be bitter and unkind in return. Or flat out refuse to offer any help at all.

There is a sweet love story written in and I must say that I loved the moments of realization and watching Millie when information came to light. Her perceptions and misperceptions all becoming clear. Allowing for more healing. The Drexel family has much pain and sorrow awaiting them and the question is, will they also do what is right for the sake of doing what is right? Or will they try to right past wrongs for the sake of righting a wrong that may not be a wrong? I'll let you ponder on that spun around question. I had a very happy and contented smile on my face when I finished the book. I didn't want it to end. Yet, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I wanted more when it did end.

I loved the healing and redemption written into this story. I loved how the author showed struggle and desire to do good, even at the cost of pain for different characters. This is one book that I highly recommend in this series to be read. If you were going to pick just one, this would be the one I would urge you to read. Now, that being said, I have enjoyed this series and the individual books. I've got the next one waiting for me to be read and I'm counting down the days for release.

Content: Clean. Christian aspects, not preachy but a few more moments of the author having the characters turn to God and allow for His guidance and love to help them in their lives than previous books in the series (if you've read the books). I didn't feel it was over the top, I felt it showed the characters very well and would be how the characters are in this time period.

I received a copy from the publisher, Barbour Publishing, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

I've heard authors say that some books write themselves. As a reader, I have said that some books read themselves. That's the case with this book. I started reading this book with the intention of just reading a chapter or so to "get into" the story and soon found I was halfway through the book in just one sitting! Warm, realistic characters in a story that was both heartwrenching and heart-stopping made this book easy to read.

While some aspects of the story sounded familiar to other romances I've read the author totally made this story her own. I loved her writing and the way that the shift in the relationship between Millie and Katherine happened in a way that was so subtle that I can't pinpoint the exact spot it took place. It's just so natural and suddenly you realize that things have changed between the two. I also liked the way she kept me wondering exactly what was going to happen. I knew the ending I wanted to the story but she kept me guessing as to whether I was going to get it or not. I loved the complexity of the relationships between the characters. It made the story seem so real. The pace of the story is great and kept me turning pages as quickly as I could.

The author has created some really well-developed characters in this book. Some I liked more than others. Millie, I liked instantly while it took some time to warm up to John and Katherine Drexel. I'm still not sure if I really liked Stephen or not but that's ok. He's not a bad character, just not my favorite.

This is a book that will definitely be added to my keeper shelf. I can easily see myself rereading this book because the story is just so good and the writing is excellent. This is Rebecca Jepson's debut novel so I can't go looking for more to read from her but I will be adding her to my "must-read author" list. I'm hoping there will soon be more to read from her!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

Journey now to healing spa town of Glenwood Springs, Colorado in 1888

Where the past and present collide and a woman is on the precipice of unexpected love.

Millie Cooper, fisherman’s-daughter-turned-nurse, flees a painful entanglement with the wealthy Drexel family who summered near her childhood home in Nantucket, only to encounter them again six years later in Glenwood Springs. The serenity of her mountain hideaway in a town with healing springs is disrupted when she faces caring for the elderly mother and the expectant wife of Stephen Drexel, the man she’d once loved—at the request of his brother John, the man who’d kept them apart. Will Millie forgive the wrongs she feels were done to her, or will she come to see them as a blessing in disguise that leads her to greater joys?

My Heart Belongs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado: Millie's Resolve by [Jepson, Rebecca]my thoughts....

Millie Cooper, the heroine in this book was the beautiful young woman who raised herself up from poor circumstances to become a gifted nurse in Colorado. Her dedication to duty was to a fault and made it difficult to turn her back on the Drexel family in their time of need. She put aside decades old hurt to give the best possible care to Mrs. Drexel who often took the opportunity to remind Millie of her lowly upbringing. She took such care for the wife of the man who left her behind and took the brunt of all in the household when her methods didn't' seem to suit them. Still, she persisted and practiced her nursing skills while burying her feelings inside a heart she longed to quiet forever.

It is through time and duty that she discovered her true purpose in life. As with many of us, she learned over years of experience how what we think we wanted in our youth may not have been the best path to follow. God has a way of showing us, whether through a perilous illness to, seeing, finally, what lays before us and giving us a chance to make the best choice. His choices are our best choices and while we don't always see that, things often present themselves to us as though we should have known all along.

I enjoyed reading about Millie Cooper and her courageous way of facing such a challenging path. She is a champion for those who dream of a better life even when there are those who would keep you down on your luck. This book is for those who seek encouragement to keep their faith for the good things to come.

The My Heart Belongs series is unique because each book is written by a different author. This is my third venture into the series and the books are not written in cookie cutter fashion. Rebecca Jepson developed believable characters set in the backdrop of the beautiful red rocks of Colorado.

I am loving this “My Heart Belongs” series by Barbour Books. This well written Christian historical romance by Rebecca Jepson did not disappoint. The story takes place in the late 1800's, in a small town of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Our leading lady, Millie Cooper has gone from being the poor fisherman's daughter to a well respected nurse. Millie has had to recover from having her heart broken at the age of 18. That night she went to the prearranged spot to meet her intended Steve. His older brother John Drexel was there instead. The Drexel family was a wealthy family she had played with every summer. They had a vacation home near her and her father's in Nantucket. As children growing up together the differences didn't matter. But as young adults falling in love and marrying the wrong kind of people, just was not done. John was there to explain this to her and to break off the engagement for his brother.

Millie thought she had moved on from this horrible nightmare experience, never expecting to see the Drexels again. Six years later at the doctors office where she works, she hears a familiar voice talking to the doctor in the next room. John Drexel is there to acquire a nurse for his elderly ailing mother and his sister-in-law, who is expecting. Which would be Steven her betroths wife. Has Millie gotten past the heartache this family has caused her? And can she find healing, hope and a new beginning?

Rebecca Jepson has a way of taking you on an unforgettable journey back to a picturesque town of healing springs in a mountain hideaway. I loved the way this author was able to draw hope out of the darkness. I enjoyed this novel by Rebecca Jepson and would recommend it. I received a copy of this book from Barbour Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Millie is a poor fisherman's daughter grown up to be a nurse. She bears a broken heart caused by Stephen Drexler when he bowed to his brother John's command not to marry her because of her low position, a double hurt for Millie. When Millie meets up with John again many miles away from her Nantucket home, this time in Colorado, the hurt returns with a vengeance.
John's intention was never to hurt Millie, or his brother for that matter. He simply had responsibilities to fulfill for his family. Now, his mother's health in a grave state, he must beg Millie to put aside her differences with his family and serve as her nurse. It will also mean once again introducing Millie into the life of his brother Stephan, now married and a father of two.
With reluctance, Millie accepts the position, only to find herself attracted not to her love from the past, but to the older Drexler brother John. Complicated family relationships, secrets from the past, and a misunderstanding about the sentimentality of a locket lead to difficulties Millie and John must navigate to find the road to love between the unlikely pair. Will an unforeseen tragedy open doors for Millie to be reunited with her first love? What happens if Millie pledges her life to another before John can declare his heart? And what of the family matriarch who still despises Millie and will go to great lengths to keep her apart from both her sons?
This novel by Rebecca Jepson is a must read for anyone enjoying historical romance amid beautiful scenery and the unspoken status war between the rich and the poor. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

From the first page to the last, I absolutely loved Millie Cooper, who had endured so much as a young girl in Nantucket and accomplished so much as a young woman in Colorado. Now, in 1888, Millie is both loved and admired as a nurse in the community of Glenwood Springs, Colorado and she is finally happy. Suddenly her contented life is shattered by a family from her past and her old insecurities once again threaten her peace of mind. Millie is asked to become a private nurse for the woman who deemed her unworthy of her son's attention and to also help deliver the baby of this man that she once loved. She doesn't believe that she should be expected to do this but Millie soon realizes that God is urging her to set her feelings aside and to answer these calls for help.

Author Rebecca Jepson has written a story of young love lost and an everlasting love found. She reminds us that what seems so perfect at the time is often the worst thing that can happen and that God's Plan for our lives is always the best. This is a Christian romance so the romantic scenes are wholesome but the chemistry between Millie and John Drexel is amazing and the increasing awareness of their feelings for each other literally took my breath away! My Heart Belongs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado: Millie's Resolve is the perfect book for those who enjoy historical fiction with multi-faceted characters and Christian romance.

There were several things I liked about this book, but I think the thing I liked the most was the ultimate decision that Millie had to make towards the end of the book. Without giving too much away, she really had to sort out her feelings for these brothers. One she had a past with and one a present with. How do you ignore a man you thought you were destined to be with? Or how to you ignore a man that give you goosebumps and makes you feel flustered? It was such an interesting love triangle and I enjoyed every part of it.
There were tons of twists and turns in this fabulous, historical tale. Millie was such a strong character, having to overcome several internal struggles as she agreed to go to the Drexel family's property and serve as their nurse. Perhaps what surprised me the most was the relationship between her and Mama Drexel. Mama Drexel was certainly rough around the edges, very set in her ways and thoughts. It was clear from the beginning that they were not going to get along. But I have to give Millie credit, she certainly didn't back down. But throughout the book you see subtle changes, and this became my favorite relationship of the story.
My interest was held from start to finish and I must admit this was another successful edition to the My Heart Belongs series. I cannot wait to read more of them! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed My Heart Belongs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The characters really made the story and it was so well written. I had a hard time putting it down.

Millie Cooper is a nurse in Glenwood Springs. She is happy there and loves working for Dr. Murphy. When she hears a familiar voice, all the pain of a past break up returns. She was supposed to elope with Stephen Drexel, but on the night she was supposed to meet him, his brother, John Drexel, shows up instead. He has stopped the marriage from occurring. Millie believes it occurred because she was a poor fisherman's daughter and the Drexels are a wealthy family. John asks Millie to put all of the past hurts behind her and act as the nurse for his ailing mother and Stephen's pregnant wife.

When God directs Millie to put the past behind her and take the job, Millie is met by a woman who is very sick but who remembers the past and is intent on putting Millie in her place. But with God's help, Millie sees things she never saw before and she looks at John with fresh eyes. She finds herself drawn to him. What happens in the book is completely unexpected but paves the way for Millie to see people for who they are and to realize that what kept her from marrying Stephen, is not at all as it appeared.

All of the My Heart Belongs books are so good and so well written. You cannot go wrong with them. I have not read one that I ranked below four stars. This one is one of my favorites.

This book is a Christian historical romance set in 1888 in Colorado. It reminded me of the movie "Sabrina," where the older, responsible brother tries to separate his younger, charming brother and the heroine but falls in love with the heroine himself. In this book, you have the two brothers, but the story occurs after the heroine accepted money to leave the younger brother behind. She's become a nurse out in Colorado, but the rich family end up in the same small town. She's the only nurse available who can help the mother, who suffers from bad asthma. The younger brother has married and has children. The mother doesn't approve of the heroine. The heroine doesn't want to go, but she feels God is leading her to do so.

The Christian theme is about forgiveness and about God bringing good out of bad circumstances. The heroine is likeable, and I cared what happened to her. Unfortunately, the two brothers spent a lot of time avoiding her. In a romance, I prefer more scenes where the hero and heroine interact and fall in love. The author pushed the suspense to the very end, waiting until the very last minute to get the correct pair together. The setting and cultural historical details were woven into the story. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I would recommend this enjoyable romance.

I truly enjoyed this novel from a new-to-me author. Rebecca Jepson was able to portray such wonderful characters and promote such lovely scenery. I experienced many emotions from angst to love and more. The characters are well developed and the writing is extremely well done. I would read another book by this author.

Millie Cooper's character is strong and warm, but she can be easily upset at times, which shows how human she really is. After being jilted by her fiance, Stephen Drexel, or rather his brother John, Millie moves from Nantucket to Glenwood Springs, Colorado, to be a nurse. There she comes across John Drexel, whom she hasn't seen since that fateful night he told her Stephen wasn't going to be marrying her. He is there to give her a job as his ailing mother's nurse, since they have all moved there for her health. Millie reluctantly agrees to be Mrs. Drexel's nurse, much as she dislikes the woman.

What takes place is a coming of age and learning that there is more to a person than their standing in society. Who learns this valuable lesson? What happens between Millie and Stephen when they meet again after seven years apart? What of John? Check out this amazing book and you will find the answers to these questions. Enjoy!

I was loaned this book from NetGalley for an honest review. These are my thoughts and opinions on this book and no one else's.

I have really loved this series and always find a new to me author. I had not read anything by Ms. Jepson before and wasn't sure what to expect. When I first started reading this book, I have to admit that I didn't really care for it, but after a few chapters, I enjoyed this book as much as the others I've read.

Millie Cooper is a wonderful protagonist and so easy to love. Stephen Drexel a man she loved in the past and is in need of someone to care for his sickly mother and his expectant wife. Of course, Millie gets hired by his brother, John. She never allowed the past hurts and disappointments to interfere with giving the best care and treatment to either of the ladies she took care of.

There were some characters that I didn't like at first but they had redeeming qualities and one of them turned out to be a favorite of mine. I liked that this wasn't a typical romance and that the author added some pretty tough topics to the storyline. It's also a story about family, friendship and forgiveness .

There were times that I felt the pace moved a bit slow, but once it started to pick up, I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it to readers of Historical and Christian fiction. I am looking forward to reading more of the authors work.

This is written by a new to me author but I'll be looking for other writings by her in the future. I'm really enjoying getting to "visit" all these different locations in the "My Heart Belongs" series. Glen wood Springs Colorado sounds like a lovely place in the late 1800s, one that Millie found herself in after a broken engagement. She found her calling as a nurse after being trained by a local doctor. The one family she hoped to never see again, however, made their way to Colorado because of the health of their mother. The oldest son sought the services of Millie for his mother and her asthma attacks. She reluctantly took the position even though she had been jilted by the younger brother. A number of mishaps, misunderstandings and crisis situations make this a page turner in hopes for a little romance along the way.
I enjoyed getting to know the characters especially Millie. She had been made to look at herself as a lowly fishermans daughter by the asthmatic Mrs. Drexel. The family's aristocratic status and wealth seemed to put Millie in her place. But she occasionally had a little spunk and a take charge attitude that served her well from time to time. A very readable and entertaining novel.
