A Season to Sow, a Season to Reap, a Season to Love
Love is in season as you journey into rural America’s history and witness the harvest of romance through six delightful stories. From Minnesota to Florida, New York to Kansas, and Ohio to Louisiana, heroic men and women make sacrifices in order to create a home, nurture the crops, and secure a future for the next generation, but sometimes romance is almost an afterthought. Can love also grow down on the farm?
One Little Prayer by Kimberley Comeaux--Louanne Wise,a precocious nine-year-old girl, yearns for someone to call “Dad” since her own died in the War Between the States. Her mother has been running their Louisiana farm alone for too long. So when Louanne finds a man wounded in her woods, she feels her dreams could come true. But her mother may not be as easy to convince.
The Tie That Binds by Susan K. Downs--A band of fifteen orphans have arrived in Kansas on a train from New York City, including Anna and Andrew Clymer who are determined to stay together. Luck has it that each child is adopted by a single parent, but it will take a miracle to get the stubborn widowed seamstress and the arrogant wheat farmer together to form a family.
A Homesteader, a Bride, and a Baby by JoAnn A. Grote--Diphtheria has robbed Lorette Taber of her only sister and left her to care for her infant nephew. The Minnesota homestead the child inherited isn’t profitable, even if Lorette could manage to run it alone. How can a single woman earn a living and raise a child? And, how can she avoid ugly rumors that plague her friendship with a helpful homesteader?
The Applesauce War by Ellen Edwards Kennedy--In a mischievous attempt to match their children together, Verity McCracken’s and Pete Delorme’s fathers have created a real rift between the families. The McCrackens need help to harvest their bountiful apple crop, but the Delormes won’t lend one hand this year. Verity and Pete work together to try and decipher how the problem ever started between Christians, but that only makes the fathers madder. How can this rotten feud be mended?
Sunshine Harvest by Debby Mayne--What is a young woman to do when her father suddenly dies, her mother goes into depression, and a large crew of citrus harvesters are depending on her for their livelihood? Anna Drake is not a quitter and she won’t accept charity. But Daniel Hopkins is not deterred from showing Christian kindness, and soon Anna is surrendering segments of her stubborn heart.
New Beginnings by DiAnn Mills--Betsy Malone is living a lie. Married to her childhood sweetheart, Nicholas, and moving to an Ohio farm, Betsy tries desperately to hide her horrible secret: She no longer loves him, if she ever did. Always perceptive, Nicholas can’t be fooled for long, and Betsy fears what will happen when he discovers the truth.

One Little Prayer--Louanne thinks that her prayers for a father have been answered when she finds a strange man shot in the woods. Louanne is a bright girl, and she loves to read. Louanne's mother, Tessa, has a strong faith, and while she appreciates Louanne's efforts she knows that she can't marry someone who doesn't share her faith. A fun story with great elements of faith, and touches of humor. I really liked how Tessa is a strong woman of faith who raises her daughter in faith, and how James comes to enjoy spending time with Tessa and Louanne.
The Tie that Binds--When the Orphan Train comes through town, Frank and Emma both want to adopt a child, even though they are single. Emma is hesitant to go along with Frank's plan, as she doesn't even know him. But will God bring them together into the family of their dreams?
A Homesteader, Bride, and a Baby--Lorette is coming to visit her sister, but before she gets there her sister and her family die, except for the baby. The family that Lorette is working for doesn't want the baby around, so she moves out to the ranch. Chase is their nearest neighbor and he comes to check on them, and teaches her how to keep up the farm. But when the rumors begin to fly, Chase offers a solution.
The Applesauce War--Two scheming father's try to set up their children in the spirit of Shakespeare. Verity and Pete grew up on neighboring farms, but they have been away at school, they meet in town, and pray about their father's feud. Can love heal the rift between families?
Sunshine Harvest--Daniel comes to the Drake Citrus Farm to deliver the bad news of Mr. Drake's passing. Josephine and her mother are devastated by the news, Daniel does everything he can to help lighten the load, and friends from church come to help too.
New Beginnings--Betsy and Nicholas have known each other their whole lives, they marry and leave everything behind to have a farm of their own in Ohio. They work hard to make the farm a success befriending their neighbors, who encourage them in their faith and their marriage. A realistic look at a couple who doesn't marry for love, who fight to make a life farming in Ohio. One of my favorites.
This 6 novella collection is full of great faith--filled stories of farming couples, who face the challenges of marriage and love working the land. Previously released in 2013.

Thanks to Barbour Books and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are fully mine.
3 stars: The Ties That Bind - Kansas A Homesteader, a Bride, and a Baby - Minnesota
2 stars: The Applesauce War - New York New Beginnings - Ohio
Each story takes place on a farm and has a happy ending. The stories I liked were sweet and one was also funny. I liked the characters and cared about their stories. The ones that I didn't like had a character or characters that I didn't like. The stories were fine, though.
The Farmer's Bride Collection is a collection of six stories. These stories include: One Little Prayer by Kimberly Comeaux The Tie That Binds by Susan K Davis A Homesteader, a Bride, and a Baby by JoAnn A Grote The Applesauce War by Ellen Edwards Kennedy Sunshine Harvest by Debby Mayne New Beginnings by DiAnn Mills I enjoyed these sweet, clean and short stories. I was introduced to several new to me authors. I give this collection four stars.
A surprisingly good collection! I was expecting not to like this series as I thought that I had read too many farmer stories and they all seem the same. Well, not this group! These 6 stories were all very different! Some the farming part of the story was a minor aspect like in the first story, 2 others it was fruit trees instead of regular farming, one about the orphan train and it took place all over the place, not just the midwest! Really enjoyed these. Thanks for a delightful read!
BACK OF THE BOOK BLURB A Season to Sow, A Season to Reap, a Season to Love
Homesteads fueled the expansion of America, and these farms depended on families to run them. In this collection of six down-on-the-farm stories, marriages are formed often with the future of the land in mind before romance.
One Little Prayer by Kimberley Comeaux The Tie That Binds by Susan K Downs A Homesteader, a Bride, and a Baby by JoAnn A Grote The Applesauce War by Ellen Edwards Kennedy Sunshine Harvest by Debby Mayne New Beginnings by DiAnn Mills
From Minnesota to Florida, New York to Kansas, and Ohio to Louisiana, heroic men and women make sacrifices in order to create a home, bring in the harvest, and secure a future for the next generation. But will love, friendship, and faith also flourish out of the land God entrusts to them?
MY REVIEW I enjoy these collections of short stories, such a variety and usually very good stories. It's amazing that in the 'old' days people would meet, get married within days or weeks and they were good marriages that lasted. Today if someone gets married after a year people will tell you to wait until you know your 'intended' better. Also if more people would work at their marriages, be willing to forgive each other, discuss things instead of giving up there wouldn't be so many divorces. I liked each of these stories and would recommend this book to others. Wonderful stories of couples working together.
These bride book series are great reads, because they have multiple stories so it's easy to start and stop.( especially if you have children or a busy life) I love the fact that they are Christian romance novel's because they good clean wholesome reads!

I give The Farmers Bride Collection five out of five stars!
I received a copy from NetGalley; this is my honest review #TheFarmer'sBrideCollection #NetGalley 1. One Little Prayer ****: Tessa is a nagger, a shrew and a pusher and thinks she has a better link to God than James. So the 4 stars are because of James and Louanne, Tessa’s daughter; I thought they had a better relationship than James and Tessa. It was funny because of how the seven brothers kept interfering and the way Louanne kept coming back with fairytales. Short and sweet prayers, not aggravating. 2. The Tie That Binds *****: Beautiful story of two stubborn singles and two orphan siblings who are finally together because of a fire. Life is too short to waste it away apart from each other. One verse continuously repeated, albeit a short one and in context. Nicely done. 3. A Homesteader, a Bride, and a Baby *****: Hopeful romance about two strangers coming together to save a baby’s inheritance. Not too much drama about the grief they both felt. Not enough details about Chase’s farm (what does he grow, what happened to it, etc.). 4. The Applesauce War ***: Didn’t really see the romance between Pete and Verity, just friendship and a common goal. Typical case of joke turned bad between neighbors. Very short story and at least a dozen verses/prayers written down – waste of page count. The one who shouldn’t want to have help should be Gerard not Jacob. Verity cries for any reason; it gets old. 5. Sunshine Harvest **: The plan of salvation is explained in details many, many times. There are also large verses from the Bible. There are lots of drama, crying and problems. There isn’t enough time building the romance and love between Daniel & Anna so I didn’t see the proposal coming. I was left with unanswered questions such as what happened with the supplies, wagon and horse after the father died. I didn’t understand the anger when someone brought food and/or help; we all do that after a funeral. 6. New Beginnings *: Too many verses, prayers and sermons for such a short story. The whole wedding ceremony was there too. Betsy cries all the time and Nicholas is angry, not that I blame him. Most of the time I was like “Really?”, then at the end I thought “Yea, right.”.
Interesting mix of stories as varied as areas and types of farming. Strong people trying to make it on their own, learning how much Christian faith means in their lives. A man who is wounded and found, single parents hoping to adopt from an Orphan train, a relocating sister who learns from a neighbor that she has a nephew to raise, a Romeo and Juliet situation devised by caring fathers, a woman who loses her father unexpectedly and has to learn how to run a business, and a young woman who marries her best friend but doesn’t love him. Excellent reinforcement of Christian values. I just wished that each story had been longer!

This was given to me my Netgalley. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Each love story has a different plot and deals with everyday challenges and how God and their love for one another brought the characters together and formed their future. I enjoyed these collections of short stories very much.
Easy breezy rom com, albeit more romance than comedie. SO unrealistic in the fact that all the couples get married within 2 weeks of knowing each other and it's a match made in heaven. I couldn't stand teh 4th book with her speaking about God and how he will provide and everything happened just like they prayed about it. Can God do it? YES, but BUT he can also say no. What would've josphine done if pedro wouldn't walk again, if david didn't want to marry her, if they lost the farm. The last book was the most realistic in the fact that she was marrying b/c she felt obligated too and knew that Henry loved her. BUT yet they still married, still slept with each other and OH look at they, got pregnant all without loving each other.
I very much enjoyed this collection of short stories. Every story in this collection was well-written and interesting. All of them were heartwarming. (I especially loved the storyline of “The Appleauce War”. It’s guaranteed to make you smile.) Each story had interesting characters and settings.
This collection of clean, sweet stories is just the book for when you want something shorter and lighter to read. I generally don’t give collections like this a five-star rating, but this one earned it.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
A beautiful collection of Christian short stories of romance, love and farmers! The collection is five different stories from five different authors. I especially liked the story written by DiAnn Mills, entitled “New Beginnings”, but all of the stories are sweet and full of emotion and of course, a testament to God’s love for us. Highly recommended.
The Farmer's Bride Collection by DiAnn Mills will be available July 1, 2018 from Barbour Books. An egalley of this book was made available by the publisher in exchange for a honest review.
What a nice collection of novellas! Each story was different which I liked. While I thought some of the romances were rushed, they were still enjoyable to read. My favorite story is the 1st one, One Little Prayer, it had the best and sweetest story. I liked that the heroine daughter played a role in her mother and the wounded soldier she found in the woods romance. Nonetheless, all of the stories were nice.
I received this complimentary copy of this book from Barbour books via NetGalley. This review is my own opinion.

Farming life was hard work. Having a partner to share the load made things easier. But Love didn't always figure into the occasion, at least at first. These 6 stories give you a chance to look back in history, to a time when America was growing as her farmers spread out and grew crops for a growing nation! Clean romances that will touch your heart, well worth the read!
I enjoy historical fiction romance novella collections when I need a simple read in the middle of the more weightier materials I am reading. The first three stories I enjoyed more than the last three. All stories talk of faith and God and being Christian, but some were a bit more prolific about it than others.
There were 6 stories, and all were well written. Five of them would make excellent full length novels. I didn't like one so much, but it still had a good ending. It was just a bit too stressful for this time in my life. I need light stories with happy endings when I feel stressed. ~smile~
I REALLY enjoyed this book of short stories! I love historical romances and anything historical period! They were all AMAZING!!!! But....I wish they were longer! This book was nothing short of spectacular!!! LOVED it!!!!
The Farmer’s Bride Collection consist of six wonderful stories by six awesome authors. Each story is its own unique story, and they are fairly short so it takes only hours to read each. You will find the following six stories by the following six authors in this book:
One Little Prayer by Kimberley Comeaux In One Little Prayers, I fell in love with nine year-old Louanne and was wishing for a new dad for her as much as she was! A very special little girl and a very special story I really enjoyed reading.
The Tie that Binds by Susan K. Downs In The Tie That Binds, the orphans grabbed my heart! I love orphans stories, my heart just breaks for children with no home, so I really enjoyed this one. And I love Frank and Emma’s romance and enjoyed this one very much.
A Homemaker, A Bride, and A Baby by JoAnn A. Grote In A Homemaker, A Bride, and A Baby, my heart hurt for Lorette because life was so difficult for her after she lost her sister to illness and was now raising the niece her sister left behind. This is a very heartwarming story that will stay with you a while.
The Applesauce War by Ellen Edwards Kennedy The Applesauce War, can also be called “The War Between the Fathers!” It is an interesting title none the less, so I was anxious to see what it was about. A fake feud between two dads turns real, making this story comical as well as very interesting. Can Verity and Pete mend fences between two families who have been friends for a long time?
Sunshine Harvest by Debby Mayne In Sunshine Harvest, Anna Drake finds herself in a very difficult situation after a family tragedy and is too surbborn to ask for help. But can she deny Daniel’s help when he feels God’s wants him to help out Anna and her mom? Some very interesting tension here as Anna and Daniel work together to save the harvest of citrus.
New Beginnings by DiAnn Mills In New Beginnings, Betsy no longer wants a new beginning with Nicholas, but is it too late? Will their life be a living lie? Tensions flare in this story are Betsy tries to figure out what she needs to do about not loving Nicholas. Will her decision be the right one?
!I really didn’t have a favorite, I enjoyed all of these stories. I love having the short stories to read when I don’t have time for a full book. And I love the enjoyable stories in The Farmer’s Bride Collection. Each story is very well written and Barbour Books does an amazing job of packaging these stories into a Beautiful, Beautiful book that you can proudly display in your home. I want to encourage you to pick up a copy of this collection of stories for many hours of joyful entertainment.

The Farmer's Brides Collection These lovely 6 stories will take you on a Journey around America's farmlands hundreds of years back...from cracking up with laughter to crying for character's trials this collection is like a perfect salad that excites all your taste buds.. One Little Prayer Is about a girl full of romantic notion who wanted to have a daddy for herself and was inventing ways (inspired from novels..lol) to convince her mother, Tessa, and a perfect, albite injured, stranger,James, to court.. Ohh but I laughed so hard at her adorable antics. The Tie That Binds Is about a young widow Emma and a lonely bachelor Frank that both wanted the same thing but were both stubborn as bulls. Again God turned to children to bind them together and what a beautiful family they made. Its was funny worrisome and very heartwarming story. A Homesteader, A Bride, and A Baby Only God could bring such a sweet ending to the 3 strangers who have only one thing in common and its a tragic loss of beloved young family. Chase's and Loretta's love was very tender and with many hardships.. The Applesauce War Ohhh man this is a story of two best friends who arranged for their children to be married but decided it wasn't romantic to just break the news to them so they came to a conclusion that playing a little charade of feud and letting the (rebellious) nature take its course will work best to make their children fall for each other...poor Varity and Pete, Ohh my but it was fun... Sunshine Harvest is another dear story about a girl Anna that lost her daddy and was left to take care of plantation and helpless indecisive mother, but God with all his love for his children sent help from all directions and for all needs...even a life partner-Pastor Hopkins. New Beginnings There is one thing that fascinates me about life long best friends between boy and a girl relationship... The girl is blind to her love for the man until he is ready to give up and throw her out of his life.. I have great respect for guys like Nicolas whose love is so deep and whose sacrifice is so great that it reminds me of Jesus and all He sacrificed out of love for us - to make us happy..
Enjoy this Collection, its an easy read that will sail you through waves of emotions and while you laugh or cry or both they will teach You some unique ways in which God works.
Disclaimer: I got a free copy of this book from Barbour Publishing, through BetGalley, in exchange for my honest opinion.
Another really nice collection from Barbour Publishing. These stories varied wildly, and were only very loosely related to farming - maybe even a bit of a stretch to be included here.
I particularly enjoyed the second story, The Tie That Binds by Susan K. Downs, which revolves around adoption and the orphan train. But I found Debby Mayne’s Sunshine Harvest so over-the-top preachy that it was difficult to enjoy.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
