The Conclave calls to Endric and threatens to pull him from the Denraen again.
While the merahl are restored, the price was high. The Conclave asks Endric to bring Tresten to his final resting place, leading him to the island of Salvat and the headquarters of the Conclave, but forcing him to bring an old enemy with him.
When the mission takes a dramatic turn, Endric wants only to save Senda, but doing so brings him into a conflict that his Denraen training has not prepared him for. Can he trust Urik while saving Senda and still discover the secrets of the Conclave, or will he be the reason that Salvat falls?
Now Endric will be taking on more responsibilities and leadership roles will he be up to the challenges for which this will require only time will tell. But now he must do what he failed to do once already to obtain leadership of the Denraen. Is he ready for that as of yet. I that we will soon find out. The more I read of Holmberg's work the more i find that I like him.
I held off on giving a review until I finished this series. I started with The Lost Prophecy and wanted the back ground on Endric, now that I have it, I am a bit disappointed that it did not include the challenge of his father and how his father ended up living with the concave. What ever happened to Senda? The lack of this information does not take away from the book. I have enjoyed the series last two books I’ve read in a 24 hour period. I’ve still have the same issue I’ve always had to much detail in the minor stuff just doesn’t hold my interest, great for the people who do. I like the meat lol I have very much enjoyed!
Holmbergs writing ability is growing, I'm happy to say. His characters are trying to do the same. I believe the mc is changing nicely but the majority of the side characters either need to grow up or allow Endric to find some new friends. There are still a few gaps in reasoning and the stories always have slow, useless points but overall holmberg is advancing quite nicely. Always clean. Interested to see what he comes out with next!
I have read 4 or 5 of D. K. Holmberg's fantasy series and each one is a fresh and exciting as the last!
I must admit that it took me a bit longer to get lost in this series than it has for the others, but once I was hooked, I was was in for a wild ride to the end.
Do yourself a favor: do a search for D. K. Holmberg, start any one of his many epic series, and you'll never be the same again.
In this penultimate volume of the series it is Endric's mission to return Tresten's body to the Conclave accompanied by the traitor Urik and Senda. They take a ship to the island of Salvat and get separated almost immediately. There are mysteries within mysteries in this book, of which I only figured out a couple on my own. Once again there is much personal growth for Endric and I look forward to the finale
Have really enjoyed the series but this book unfortunately is filled with boring minutiae that adds no drama or meaningful plot. Added I suspect to pad out the book. Found myself constantly flicking pages, skimming for any plot development A shame as the others were great.
Another good book in this series. Wrapped up the old storyline and let us know what is to come. Looking forward to more story from Endric. Please ensure that there is more from Senda in future books.
This storyline kept changing there was lots of character mysteries and changes in their development. Endric starts to believe in himself more and trusting his instincts.
I really like the characters in this series. Endric is amazing. I am rarely able to guess what is going to happen and I like that I cant. I don't understand why more people haven't read DO Holmberg's books because they are a lot of fun. Hopefully they will catch on!
Endric has proven to be a intricately developed character that offers the reader a glimpse into a well-crafted world. Is Endric ready to accept what has been asked of him?
A great ending to the series. Couldn't put it down. The characters a great and well written story to go with them make an awesome combo. Great Reading Everyone!
Part of me expected that Urik would not cause trouble before they get to lay Tresten to rest, considering it was Tresten who had shown some degree of hope for his redemption. Endric, after learning more from him and his background in the previous book, is now a bit more lenient to him, which now surprises Senda. Strange how one who wanted to have him dead now acts as the one to keep him alive. To keep this spoiler-free, I can only say that there will be more twists as things start happening. ------------------------- When I started reading this series, I believed it would be three or four books. Maybe it was hinted somewhere. Now, after fifth, I still feel it's not the end. I hope it's not the end. And I'd really want to know more about Urik's background. There's a hint of tragedy that sent him on his downward spiral, but nothing much about it was revealed.
