An alien threat. A desperate populace. One hope to avert a future no one wants.
Forced into a life she hates by the government of Lebabolis, the last human nation on Earth, Ana must comply with her pre-ordained future or undergo Realignment.
But when her brother falls ill, Ana joins up with the resistance in an attempt to flee Lebabolis—only to learn that the true threat lies an alien race known as the Omegans.
All of this was foreseen. A thousand years ago a man living in New Orleans had imagined the future Ana now lives in. He wrote about the resistance, the alien menace, everything.
Desperate to save themselves and the remnants of the human race, the resistance formulates a plan to do the only thing they can think of.
Travel back in time to save the future.
With her enemies closing in, Ana knows this is her one chance to save herself, her brother, and the resistance. Failure is death and the neverending enslavement of humanity.
Buy Cataclysm Epoch today and find out why so many have fallen in love with Ana and her mission.
Paul Heingarten mainly writes science fiction and fantasy, with the occasional detour into general fiction. What a ride! Ana is a warrior -even tho sometimes she feels inferior to those around her. And for a time she did defer to others she thought were stronger. But it wasn't the brawn that is always the winner. It's the one that stops, reflects, thinks things out before a move or decision is made and moved upon. To me, that's the strength. At first, following just who was who, where each one was and why. Well, it was a bit disjointed. But when it all came together and story clicked, THAT was the moment for me and it all made this an enjoyable read. Even if it did take me some time..I read 3 other books in between the start n finish of this....so go grab a copy, and enjoy!--P/
Wow what a read that couldn’t be put down. Just loved it and appreciated receiving an ARC. So fast paced and intriguing, that I finished reading before I knew it. Superb author.
I could hardly put the book down!! Earth has been ravaged and Ana is trying to leave Lebabolis with her brother and the Action. Along the way, they get home from a time traveler author that wrote their story. Looking forward to the next installment....
"It's one or none, right?" A thousand years into the future and the world is still beset with war, oppression and limited resources. A group called the Action is trying to free subjects of Lababolis from the servitude of the state, where people are grouped into different 'product' groups and given orders through an implant. All are expensive. Only the leaders and the Warrior products are intended to survive. Lababolis has the power. The Action send one person back in time to retrieve the author of a book, Xander Lee, who predicted it all in his Cataclysm Epoch, for reasons best known only to their leader. Trouble is, he hadn't written the book yet - and definitely didn't want to be in this new environment.
Some clever ideas and action with the first person present text alternating between Xander and the person who retrieves him, Ana. But it failed to convince this reader, both with the ongoing battle and the reasoning behind it, and I found it increasingly difficult to continue with the story with any sense of belief.
I found Cataclysm Epoch a pretty entertaining read. It took me a bit to get into it, but once I did, I flew through the story pretty quickly. The story starts off with the main character (Ana Crucinal) in a futuristic war zone. To try and win the war against the Lebabolis, Ana joins a mission to travel back in time to retrieve an author named Xander Lee whom they believe created their world. Xander Lee, they hope, will have the answers and the power to bring an end to the war and bring peace. Interestingly, when Ana finds Xander Lee, he has not even finished the book Cataclysm Epoch and has no idea who Ana is or about the events he supposedly created. I liked the story enough that I will look for the rest of the books in this trilogy.

Paul Heingarten brings forth another epic page turner.
All of the elements are here, reluctant time travelers, a dystopic future, warring factions, epic battles, a mind controlled populace, freedom fighters, futuristic weapons. It is all brought together in this one book for your reading pleasure. Be sure to have time set aside for this as you will not want to set it down once you start!
Disclaimer: I worked as a proof reader on this novel, and for giving an honest review (good or bad) I received a free copy of the finished book. On the plus side I truly enjoyed the story.
Good read. Lots of great characters.and an incredible world. This is sort of a military sci fi and a time travel novel rolled into one. Not a hard core military book but takes place in a military type encampment. Love the way the author created this world. All in all a good read. Very enjoyable and a moderate paced. You will be hooked. The author of this book provided me with a copy for an honest review. I don't think this is relavent because this is something that I would have read otherwise. But I have included it. Enjoy good start to the series 3 books.
Excellent story that I read over the course of 2 days because every time I put it drown, I kept wondering what would happen next. It was an original story melding the present and future in a clever way, and the characters were believable and likable. Thee book came to a natural conclusion but I'm guessing that this is the first in a series, and I hope it is! I'd love to delve further into the world of Ana and Nelson.
A forlorn, post apocalyptic world. The story is okay, but I didn't develop empathy for any of the characters by the mid-point. From that point forward, the story continues to improve all the way to the end.
I was provided this book as an ARC by the author; however, the review is my honest opinion.
Others will retell the story. This is a very human tail, it’s about a cataclysm and how good people work to make the best of it. While forming alliances and building toward a showdown with a powerful foe. For anyone who enjoys a action yarn, with intelligent actors and split second decisions this is for you.
This was a book that I couldn’t put down. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the characters. The fact that I finished it in a day says a lot. I constantly wanted to know what came next. Excellent book!
So many timelines and perspectives to sort details of. Many very intense action moments. Original twist on Author perspective. Depth of story unclear until late in book. Very full of unexpected suprises.
i really enjoyed this story. thank you for the free read, i got it off a promo. i have the paperback for book 2, so that will next on my night time reads list.
