I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book. This is the start of a new series Alpha Phoenix by the author.
This book has been lengthened and is a 2nd edition
This was a super short read. I have never read this author before so I didn't know what her writing style would be. One of the issues that I had with this is, even though this is a super short story, is that the transitions were off. In one instant Lincoln told Beverly that she would become a phoenix and then the next it was implied that she was a phoenix but at the end of the story she wasn't a phoenix? I don't know when she transformed into a phoenix and I don't know what the process was but I would have liked to know more about it.
I did like the villains within the story and the fact that the two got together was interesting to me.
I also enjoyed the little look that we had into Beverly's family. I would love to know more about Lincoln's family but since they are not in Michigan but in Texas I can understand why. Hopefully the next story gives more of an insight into the D'Angelo family because since the series is based around them it would make sense to get more information about them versus their significant others.
Oh I am loving this new series, not only is he a Phoenix, but he can shift into a hawk sized bird so that his large phoenix doesn't stand out.. Not only does he shift, he is magical and he only has a deep burning fire for his mate BBW latina Beverly Hernandez.
He has to get her back on his side after a huge mistake and he will woo her back the only way he knows showering her with all his love, in the meantime he will watch out for her and sing his love song to her from a tree across from her home.
Bev is really in love with Lincoln D'Angelo, but she cannot hold back the jealousy that invades her, how can such a hot, rich hunk be in love with her an ordinary big latina. Maybe she should give him a chance, but now he is asking her to spend eternity with him. Is she ready to make that type of committment, especially with all it entails?
I really cannot wait to read more about these magical shifters.
Contains sexual content. A short easy read. Although this book is short, it has all the components of a good story, the characters emotions were revealed immediately, there was conflict (a little surprise in that), then a resolution. I enjoyed this book because, wouldn't it be wonderful to be a Phoenix? Also because the mate to Lincoln was still insecure even though they were together, makes it seem more realistic.Well written, great characters, great story.
This shifter romance features a phoenix. I considered him to be a possessive control freak, but having read another of this author's books, about a more humble bear shifter, I gather she is just thinking her way into the persona of a predatory bird which mates for life. So if an ex-boyfriend pushes his way into your house, gives out to you for opening the door in a bathrobe and starts ordering you around and telling you to clear up, he'd better be a phoenix or he's out on his ear.
Nicely described and containing mature romance scenes. I downloaded an ARC from Instafreebie. This is an unbiased review.
She put paranormal first in book 0, and when it's primarily a romance with some 'character' in it such as a phoenix that does NOT make it paranormal. Soft and/or 'more' porn is not a romance, either, btw, it's wannabe 50 Shades.
I want to gouge my eyes out or wash them with bleach...the end, it couldn't have come soon enough thank gawd for speed reading, I've seen soap operas with less b.s. going on, stalkers, a not exe that is stalkerish anyway, half nude and possible more scenes that were in there WHY, yeah he happens to be a phoenix big whoop, didn't really have anything to do with the story, and btw the end said and quoting: I hope you enjoyed this short taste of my new Alpha Phoenix series and would like to read more about Phoenix shifters and their curvy fated mates. Phoenix Aglow is only the first in what I intend to be many romances in the Alpha Phoenix series.
Times like these wish I could actually throw up, should be able to, close to the same thing as having food poisoning, book poisoning. If wanted to read pornographic shape shifting bbw 2 somes or threesomes or whatever, no big deal, but the book should describe what it is, she's supposed to be a freaking writer, what she can't figure out how to write a true description? Want to be able to rate 0 stars and Read but Wished I hadn't. Got the book for free, and it was still too much, considering the huge waste of time. I write better, descriptive reviews than the 'writer' does books.
Title: Phoenix Aglow Series: An Alpha Phoenix Book 1 Release Date: #AlreadyReleased Author: Isadora Montrose Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Serial: Standalone, No Cliffhanger Genre:#PRN #HEA #PhoenixShifter My Rating: #4Stars☆☆☆☆ •••••••••••••• This is definitely a short story, Consequently a short review (that way I will not give anything away). Ms. Isadora writes a thrilling peace of the PhoenixShifter. Beverly Hernandez is a human living in Michigan she's a Latino who owns her own business, she was robbed so she called a security company to beef up her security that's when she met him Lincoln D’Angelo aka: Linc who is a Phoenix Shifter who knew the minute he met his mate. Just when things were going really good for them things happened she never wanted to see him again. Somewhere somehow he had to make her understand plus he had to eat a lot of crow. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
I'm an independent reviewer for Romance Authors That Rock. Where is the rest of the story. Calling this book a short story. Would take longer to tell you than the actual book itself. The reason I still gave it five stars, is easy to explain.. what the author wrote was worth 5 stars. It only took me 20 minutes to read so if you're wanting a nice short story to read in the bath or during lunch this is the book your looking for. Lincoln is a phoenix he has already found and told, Beverly, his mate about himself when the book stars. The book only about one night. Basically Lincoln and Beverly got in an argument and this is them "making up". This doesn't have a lot of character development, decides that you will still come to like them. There is NO other characters included in the book than the H and h, but Lincoln talks about his siblings so I think they are the main focus of this series. Don't pass this short story up just because of the low page count it is worth it.
One very short read that I cannot believe the author says has been extended. It must have been ridiculously short at one point. A writing style that felt stilted at times. Even though this story was fun, it didn’t flow and felt rushed. It just needed more. I felt little connection to Lincoln or Beverly. Other woman drama which was unexplained. How did Amanda and Perkins know each other and come up with what they did? I found the ending strange in that these two had months to talk everything out about his being a Phoenix shifter BEFORE getting married and how this would affect Beverly. But she seems shocked and ignorant about the benefits and effects and whether to be a Phoenix or not. I probably won’t read the next book straight away but will at some point.
Phoenix Aglow by Isadore Montrose is a very short read. It's perfect for a quick read by the pool or just before bed. Her story is about a paranormal flaming Phoenix bird named Lincoln and his human mate Beverley. This is Isadora's introduction to her new PNR series featuring the beautiful flaming Phoenix birds of the D'Angelo family. It is a standalone with a HEA. I'm giving it four stars because there was unfinished business with Beverley's stalker. The story was rushed a bit. I'm hoping that these two have another book or that their story continues in her other books so that this issue is resolved. If not it doesn't make sense sense why it was included in this story, thus the four stars.
Linc knows two things, Bev is in danger, and if she would just let him explain, she would realize they weren't talking because of a misunderstanding. Brb on the other hand thinks Linc is over-reacting on the safety front, and as for misunderstanding? She knows what she saw with her own 2 eyes, add to that a conversation she was a part of, and just where do you get misunderstanding?
This quick read is a nice story about the importance of trust, honesty, and communication in relationships. I really enjoyed the Phoenix shifter aspects, and am curious to read more in this series.
This is a short, entertaining phoenix shifter romance and an excellent start to the series. What you will find in this shifter romance is: a ex-air force officer & phoenix shifter (Linc), a feisty woman (Beverly aka Bev), a greedy manipulative woman (Amanda), a dangerous con artist (Dylan), law enforcement, some drama, intrigue, some twists & turns, disagreements, misunderstandings, determination, threats, danger, verbal banter, acceptance, surprises, happiness, love and a little steam. Although this is a short story, it is well-written with interesting characters. “I received a complimentary copy, and this is my honest opinion”
I read these stories out of order and I finally got around to reading the first one after I finished the last one, lol. The one is about Lincoln D'Angelo who has found his mate in Beverly, a human woman. He has messed up and she is not talking to him, or seeing him, or acknowledging his existence for that matter. He spends his nights in the cold in his lesser form (cos what tree would hold his greater form?) and standing guard outside of Beverly's house. He serenades her every morning, even though she doesn't realize that is what she is hearing. He just has to figure out how to get her to listen to him when he talks. Can he win his mate back before she writes him off for good?
Lincoln is a phoenix shifter who needs to convince his mate Be that he is loyal and true. Bev believes her old nemesis Amanda when she walks in on her and Lincoln.
Life gets complicated when things get misinterpreted or from deceit by others. This opening into a brand new series by Ms. Montrose shows that very well.
If you love sexy times, studly shifters and strong women then you are going to love any of Ms. Montrose's stories and I highly recommend them. I voluntarily read an advance copy and have not been compensated in any way for this opinion.
Linc can't believe he had searched so long for his mate and when he finally finds her some horrible woman had to spoil it. Now his mate wasn't talking to him because she thought him a cheat. Beverly had a hard time believing Linc when he said he didn't give Amanda the key to his apartment because Amanda said he had. Though because she missed him and he had a good argument as to how she got the key she was willing to try again. Good short story to start a series that i'm looking forwards to reading.
a nice opening to an intriguing series. Have to admit I'm a bit of a push over for a shifter story and there aren't that many Phoenix stories out there (I think they have become a bit more prevalent in the past few years.)
This was a really short story it was sweet starts with Lincoln doing a really good job of groveling due to a misunderstanding that caused Bev to temporarily break it off with him.
I think the ending was really sweet in regards to sharing his phoenix with her.
Lincoln watches his mate Beverly's house from the tree. He feels she is still in danger. Beverly still isn't talking to Lincoln because another woman walked into his apartment with a key. This is a short story but well worth reading I enjoyed it very much and recommend it. It is book 0 to the Alpha Phoenix's books by Isadora Montrose. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy.
I enjoyed the read. I didn't give a star because I don't care for shorts. They are too abbreviated for enjoyment. This story need to be a full fledged fleshed out story to breath history and more life into the characters. This was a tantalizing back cover outline. I was disappointed and felt cheated that the first story was not fleshed out. Worth a read just to say you did but no satisfaction. Took another star off for the disappointed feeling.
Very short story but a goody. Beverly had thrown Lincoln out because of a misunderstanding on his part. And not realizing he was being stalked himself. But for six weeks he has been waiting for her and watching over her too. Can he make his mate forgive him for what has happened and assure her once and for all that it won't happen again.
I really enjoyed reading about Linc and Bev - and look forward to reading Phoenix Ablaze to see more about where their story goes. This was a short story, but I feel like a little bit more background would have been nice.
I received an advanced reader copy of this story and voluntarily left this honest review.
Our hero has been trying to woo his mate back after an employee walked in on them. This is a short spicy & sweet bit of groveling to get your mate back. Beverly has ignored the attempts to reconcile but Lincoln won't give up. When he shows up on her doorstep one morning she gets more than she hoped for.
I enjoyed what was written but it started in the middle. The first part is told to the reader from the characters but it would have been nicer to actually expierence it. Plus, there is a suppossed bad guy but other than a few brief comments about him, he disappears. A bit disappointing.
I read all 5 in this series - not in the order they were written but it only messes with your mind A LITTLE. ACTUALLY, it made me curious about those characters' stories. Loved every story, three characters and the paranormal dynamic! Thanks for sharing - your time, talent and the story! 😊
I really enjoyed the story and I'm looking forward to reading more about the D'Angelo Family and their mates. This is a great beginning for the stories that are to come. I would highly recommend this first book of the series. You will not be disappointed!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I freely leave this honest review. Loved Beverly's spunk and backbone. This is a short hot start to a series. It left me wanting more.
Lincoln and Beverly make a good couple! Good storyline although I wish there was a little more story...but what there was I enjoyed. This author does great work with dragon's so her Phoenix's are just as good.
Once you trust what's in your heart fully what follows is beautiful! These two made such a beautiful couple and counter balance to each other. I am very happy that I found miss Montrose! I can't wait to read the rest of the collection of her works!
This is a great beginning to a new series with Phoenix shifters and their soul mates. It is a fast read and is very romantic. Highly suggest for any paranormal romance readers.
