Jenna Ryan was born in Victoria, British Columbia. After long stints in different cities across Canada, she returned home to Vancouver Island where she has lived ever since. She has had thirty-one books published in the Harlequin Intrigue series. Her ideas come from real life, and she is helped in her writing by her sister Kathy.

She enjoys reading and is a big fan of women's fiction, psychological suspense and mystery novels. She also enjoys watching classic suspense movies. She loves strong heroines, heroes with character, romance stories and a good whodunit by the fire on a rainy night.

Her heritage is a blend of English and Irish — which is probably where the gift of blarney comes from. She is unmarried, but involved with a wonderful man. She also has a little white cat named Sheena.

Whenever she is not writing, she travels as much as time and finances will allow. After North America, Europe is her favorite continent to explore, because it was in those countries that many of the myths and legends she drew upon in her early years of writing were born.

Growing up, she considered various careers and dabbled in several of them, including, after university, the travel industry, tourism, sales and modeling. Work in the fashion industry in Toronto and Montreal gave her an interesting peek into various aspects of that world. She learned that where money, power and people come together, there will always be unpredictability — an element she feels is essential to a strong mystery. Add a healthy measure of personal conflict, an intriguing setting and a spicy romance into the mix, and you have the ingredients for what she believes to be the best of all possible stories — a great romantic suspense.

Alexa/Amber and her sister Georgia/Rachel are on the run after Alexa dug up some incriminating evidence for the FBI on Georgia's husband. Their names are changed, they are put into the witness protection program and sent to a backwater Tennessee town but not long after settling in her sister was taken and Amber is forced to run.

Gage Morgan is an Elvis loving ex cop who does contract work for the WPP, he is hot and a little messed up just the way I like them. He is given the task to go help Amber get to safety. I really enjoyed the banter and sarcasm between these two while on their journey.
"Do I look like a princess to you?""No, you're a siren. Beautiful, dangerous, and scary as hell to any man with functioning genitalia."

So Amber and Gage are on the run, they face all sorts of adversaries on their mission and a whole cast of funny odd characters. I liked Bear, I mean massive ex CIA agent covered in tatts YUM!

Dark Justice is written in the third person and although Amber and Gage are the main characters, we are also treated to snippets of the side characters POV which I liked.

This book is non-stop action, suspense and mystery. There is a little chemistry between the main characters but this is in no way a romance in my opinion and that was fine for me, I can see why some other readers had a problem if that is what they were expecting. There was never a dull moment that's for sure, don't blink though or you'll miss something. There was a lot of information to take in, it did get a little tricky to follow all the names and places thrown around at times.

Like a few of the others reviewers commented I struggled with the main characters in this book. While the scenes were HOT, it seemed they only connected on a physical level. I struggled to feel a connection beyond that especially because of how closed off Gage was about his own life. Don't get me wrong...I liked Gage, a lot. He was completely selfless in his effort to protect Amber and find out who was really after her and how deep it went. Amber was...tough. She protected herself when others would have deferred to Gage. She loves her sister and will do anything for her even risk her own life.

The characters themselves were well developed as was the plot. The disconnect I felt was between the two characters. It was a relationship built on sex but out of no where they're professing their love for one another.

The ending...okay this just pissed me off. It's not necessarily a cliff hanger but there's really no closure. Nothing in the description of this book or on the author's page indicates that this is the first book in a series (although I think we need one about Bear), yet key parts of this book are left unfinished.

Overall, this book is just okay. It had so much potential but ultimately fell short.

I DNF this book at 45%.

This book was one of the most confusing i've ever read.
It was just so... bad but it held so much potential.
It had A LOT of potential. It had all the right things but I don't know if it was the writing or what, the execution of it just wasn't for me.

What’s it About? After Amber Kelly’s attempt to help the FBI expose dangerous weapons and drug dealer Owen Fixx fails, she and her sister Rachel have to enter the Witness Protection Program. Rachel isn’t happy with the situation but since she was once married to the man they’re trying to hide from, she doesn’t have much of a choice, but she gets tired of their new life and ends up running away with a local man, leaving Amber in a mess of trouble. The only person who can help Amber find her sister is former police officer Gage Morgan. Amber knows that finding her sister will be difficult while avoiding detection from gunmen looking to silence her forever, but what she didn’t count on was her intense attraction to Gage.

Overall reaction to the story? I loved the set up to this book, I really did. A WITSEC heroine and a closed off former law enforcement officer? Pretty neat. However the execution of the plot and the romance between the two lead characters was off the mark.

For starters, the author indicates that Amber is in a life or death situation every minute of every day and that she and Gage must be careful to cover their trail while they search for Amber’s sister. Well they have as much subtlety as an elephant in a trailer park! Gage is supposed to be the ONLY one who can help her and protect her yet I found some of his decisions and actions to be questionable and beyond risky. It didn’t make sense to me and really, Amber should have been dead twice over with how reckless they were being. And with how desperate the villains were to kill Amber, I didn’t buy that the FBI or any law enforcement agency would be okay with her going out with ONE man to find her sister. And why do so many people know where Amber and her sister are anyway? Isn’t the point of WITSEC to keep them hidden? That was way outside of what I could find believable. Also, I don’t know about you but I don’t think I’d risk my life to save a TSTL sister who isn’t taking the threats to her life seriously. Just sayin’.

Then there was the relationship. There was a lot of heat between Gage and Amber which made Dark Justice: Morgan very sexy. But that’s all there was between them, or at least that’s all that the author built between them. I love hot sex scenes in romances but I’m also expecting a romance! I need to see that emotional connection building between two characters, the walls coming down, the trust forming, the love growing! That didn’t happen here. For awhile these two are going at it like bunnies then all of a sudden they’re declaring their love for one another at the end. Huh? There’s like a whole chunk of courtship missing there and they lost me on that. I didn’t buy their love; it felt more like lust induced happy hormones that would eventually wear off. And you know what? Amber is gorgeous. Like super human gorgeous. And that gets beat into your brain constantly by like, everyone that comes across her. I could have done without all that prose about her beauty. It’s so superficial it’s boring. So she’s a good looking lady, so what? That tells me NOTHING about her personality.

And then there’s also the feeling that Gage and Amber’s story isn’t finished. It’s not a cliffhanger per say but it does leave you feeling like there’s something missing and that frustrates me like you wouldn’t believe! Be upfront about an unfinished ending/cliffhanger and don’t let readers find that out on their own because a lot of us do NOT like that!

But the book wasn’t all bad though! I enjoyed the action sequences and some of the uncommon places the author takes the reader to. Gage and Amber seem to work well together, and Gage doesn’t patronize Amber’s readiness to help when things get tough. The author has a real flair for setting up scenes and the ideas are there, they just need some work.

Click It or Skip It? Click it out of curiosity but Skip It if you don’t have the patience for the things I found to be unbelievable. The author has talent that’s for sure but needs to focus it more on building a real, believable relationship between her characters that isn’t focused so much on looks.

Amber tried to do the right thing by helping the FBI take down a drug dealer, Owen. Unfortunately, that drug dealer was also married to her sister, Rachel, and now they're both in Witness Protection. However, Rachel didn't want to go and as her new life doesn't suit her, and she doesn't believe what others are saying about Owen, she leaves with a local man. Amber needs to get her sister back, and ensure neither of their new identities are blown, but it's too late. She needs help, not only to find her sister again, but also to stay alive.

Gage, a former cop, is somewhat of a loner, and his earlier years shaped the man he became. But, when it comes to protecting Amber, he's all in. He also knows, as does Amber, that they're limited in who they can trust as the promise of the money offered by Owen is a powerful lure, and those that should've been trustworthy aren't.

While literally running for their lives, the chemistry between Gage and Amber is intense and pretty soon, irresistible. As they try to stay ahead of those after Amber, and find Rachel, and navigate the new direction their relationship is headed, they must also learn to find peace with the issues of both their pasts, otherwise neither may be able to embrace the future they could have together.

Can Gage keep Amber safe? Is Rachel okay? Is anyone they come across immune to being bought off? What happens when the threat to Amber is dealt with? Or is someone still after her? Is a HEA possible?

One-click now and follow along two people, brought together by dangerous circumstances, find a love they realize they can't live without.

This is the story of Amber Kelly, who helped the FBI by collecting evidence to show her boss and brother-in-law, Owen Fixx, is really an arms and drugs dealer. She was so successful that she’s now in the Witness Protection Program (WPP). However, her sister was married to the man Amber investigated and he is now out to make both Amber and his now ex-wife, Rachel, pay for this with their lives.

Rachel was reluctant to believe Owen had already murdered his previous three wives or is a mobster. She definitely doesn’t like small town life or being in the WPP. When she runs off with a local man, this triggers Amber having an ever escalating price on her head and having an ex-police officer to help her survive. As the mobster, his men and his boss all search for Amber, the heat is certainly on. Get ready to meet some well developed characters - including my favourite, Bear! There are some strange allies, fierce gun fights, murder, betrayal and a side serving of romance in this action packed suspense. I found it to be a genuine page-turner that I didn’t want to put down. I look forward to reading more from in this series in future!

I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

My Review:  This book keeps you on your toes, their are a lot of things going on and yes there are stuff that are really out there and you know that there is just no way in hell, however you really do not care because you are still into the story. We meet Alexa who had just uncovered information on her brother in-laws criminal doings and hands it to the FBI, however things do not go as planned and now she is running for her life and trying to save her sisters life. Now let me tell you, you will hate her sister, she is a spoiled, selfish brat, who is constantly getting them in further trouble. Then we meet Gabe who is an ex-cop living with demons, he is hired to protect Alexa and even though he does not want to he is intrigued by her and he hates that, but their attraction can not be fought. And that is all I am going to tell you folks,  you need to read this, however know this, the story continues.

I really wasn't a fan of this one. I thought the story had real potential but it never seemed to come together. The writing was a bit scattered and lacked a cohesive thread. On top of that I just couldn't seem to connect with these characters.

While this book was a romance, it leaned heavily on the intrigue side and it was way too hard to put down as it is filled with non-stop action! Amber (previously Alexa) is in Witness protection when her sister runs off, leaving Amber’s location known. Fortunately, there is one decent person left that sends Amber help – Gage Morgan.

Throughout the book, you see that Owen Fixx and his boss, James Mockerie, have used their drug money to buy off a few individuals at the FBI, Witness Protection, and local police stations. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but Amber knows that she really can only trust herself – even her sister is not immune to the lure of money.

Fortunately, you know this is a romance and while Gage does a few things that Amber gets upset about, he is the only one that she really should trust. They are constantly on the run and cannot figure out how the criminals are tracking them. Amber even went so far as to strip so that Gage could go over all her clothing and her bag, but there was one little item that they overlooked that contained a tracker!

The places that Gage brought them to hide gives the reader insight into the people that shaped Gage into the man that he became. You also learn that both Gage and Amber had problems in their past, and how they dealt with those issues.

Parts of the book were sad when you realize who was willing to betray them for 3 million dollars. Parts were full of violence with all the shooting and deaths throughout the chase, but through it all, you just kept rooting for Amber and Gage to make it to safety! Not a nice thought but I really didn’t care if Amber’s sister, Rachel, made it – she was just too annoying and was really her fault that they were found out in their witness protection location, but she also kept you wondering if she was helping the criminals or not.

Most of the criminals are dealt with but James Mockerie was not caught and the epilogue makes you wonder if the next book will be the next step in bringing him to justice. I was so glad that a few issues that happened were later explained, it really is important to me that I understand the process and motivations and the “why” of things!

This was just okay for me, I had hoped for more after reading the blurb about it. I definitely had a hard time with some aspects of the story and there seemed to be things missing for me as well. This was my first Jenna Ryan read and I would probably give the next book a shot because this storyline had so much potential.
One of the things I personally didn't like is that I am not a fan of characters falling into love right away or the insta-love trope. There has to be more build up and more getting to know each other for me as a reader in order for it to make sense for more than attraction/lust to develop. Amber (Alexa) and Gage have serious sexual attraction but we don't really see the why of them falling in love.
I like Amber but she seemed like she was going to be such a strong and badass heroine throughout but she falls flat a couple of times in my opinion. She was very brave to get information for the FBI on her sister's husband, Owen Fixx, who unknown to her sister Rachel (Georgia) happens to be a serious criminal. However this puts her and her sister in serious danger so they are put into witness protection. Not a fan of Rachel at all by the way.
There is a lot of action and suspense which is great for a romantic suspense book of course.
Once Gage gets involved and finds Amber, we see how awesome and protective he is. I like Gage's character a lot. Again, I saw more lust than love between them though so I was disappointed.

A woman on the run after she and her sister's new identities are no longer a secret. A man tasked with keeping her safe from the mob. While stuck together trying to survive, a romance blooms between the two of them.

The premise of the plot is simple but the execution is far from it. The plot is a like a merry-go-round, escape, evade, take shelter over and over again. I get that it takes awhile for the main characters to figure how their escapes get thwarted but the cycle of what they go through gets repeated so many times that it just annoys you.

The H/h aren't any better. Their characters were portrayed in respect with their interactions with other people. With the hero having so many connections while the heroine obsessed with trying to save her TSTL sister. Their romance seemed to be only physical.

I can't deny the author had a sophisticated way of writing but with the tedious plot and dull characters, there is no point.

Plot: 3.5/5
Characterisation: 3/5
Prose: 4/5
How much I enjoyed it: 3/5

Gage Morgan is an ex cop who has got the job of protecting a woman who was in the witness protection program, until her sister blew it for them. Now they have to rescue the sister without getting killed.
Alexa Chase found information on her boss for the FBI. It seems that has gone missing and she is the only one who can put him away. She never realized just how far the corruption reached. With a huge price now on her head is it possible they can survive and rescue her troublesome sister.
The bullets fly and the body count is high in this very fast paced romantic suspense. Our hero has a strange set of friends to call on for help. Some are not as helpful as he hoped they would be.
A very exciting story with a strange ending that leaves us wanting more.

Adrenaline rush like never before! The story starts off quick and never stops. Crime lords, ex cops, ex feds, witness protection, who can you trust? If you think this is the typical military guy saves the girl and while on the run they have hot sex all the time, you'd be wrong. There are moments of intimacy, though short and sweet, but the suspense of the chase is far more thrilling. I'm really hoping this is the beginning to a new series, a couple of characters are definitely contenders and the author left an open ending. I was pleased to get an early copy and voluntarily wrote my unbiased review.

Dark Justice: Morgan is an action packed romantic suspense that more heavily draws on action and less on romance. Alexa/Amber and her sister Georgia/Rachel are on the run from a deadly mobster. They've been placed into Witness Protection and they're just trying to get through life now. But, Rachel is a stupid, selfish, spoiled brat, and quickly gets herself and her sister into more trouble and more danger. When Gage is sent into protect them, neither he nor Alexa knew that they'd meet the person they'd eventually fall for.

I liked the mystery/action part of Dark Justice: Morgan. The pace is non-stop and entertaining. However, I prefer my romantic suspense to be balanced well between the suspense and the romance, and Dark Justice: Morgan gears much more toward suspense (action) and much less toward romance and heat. It doesn't mean I wasn't entertained or that I didn't like Gage and Alexa, because I was very entertained and found both Gage and Alexa to be interesting, likable characters, especially Alexa. Alexa is a tough heroine. She never flinched from danger or the circumstances she found herself in. Yes, she relied on Gage, but she also was her own kind of tough woman. Her sister, however, was a complete dud of a character. She was obnoxious, whiny and spoiled and quite frankly, I was upset that Alexa and Gage even bothered to rescue her. She was that bad that I wished she weren't even around to put her sister and Gage into more danger.

Aside from Georgia's character, and the lack of emphasis on the heat and the romance, I enjoyed Dark Justice: Morgan and can't wait for more from this series.

At times I thought I was reading a cowboy story line, especially when Amber first met Gabe. Gabe certainly came over as mysterious, a deep soul who had many lifes experiences from a very early age, which in turn, set him up to cope with whatever life threw at him in adulthood. The romance between Gabe and Alexa (Amber) smoldered - slow burn. This novel has lots of fights, dirty cops and FBI agents SO who can they trust? By the end of the book and by what McCabe said/thought/actions, the story line will go on and theres much more to come. Dark Justice - HUNT.

An enjoyable read.

Morgan (Dark Justice) by Jenna Ryan is the first book in her series.

Ms. Ryan is a new author to me but there was so much going on that I felt like I spent more time going back to see what I missed so I could understand what was going on with that being said I give the book 4 stars.

Amber/Alexa saw something that her boss would kill for so when the FBI asks her for information she and her sister end up in WPP. But the bad guys find them and Gage Morgan is sent in to find her as well as try to find her kidnapped sister (Who's a spoiled brat really). Some of the people that Gage goes to for cars/RV's/trucks are absolutely hilarious which give the story a funny edge. But will they be successful in not only finding her sister, Rachel, but also the mole within the WPP/FBI all while trying to take down Mockerie the drug kingpin who would scare even me.

Fast pace and sexy

I haven’t read anything by this author and was pleasantly surprised. It had plenty of action and the main characters grow on you with ease. There are some nasty types in this so it will be interesting to see where the next book goes with capturing and dealing with one in particular.

I kept putting this book down. Gabe and Alexa do not have a relationship but they do have sex. Then at the end they are in love? This is actually a cliffhanger. Rachel is despicable. Alexa should have dumped her sister in the end. This story had a lot of problems with character development (lack there of).
