(Snowbound introduces Adrian, a powerful alpha werewolf who is ruthless in claiming what he wants, and he wants Darcy. Their adventures take them from sunny Florida to frozen Colorado to the Mitchell pack in Montana. If you loved Aiden and Nia's story from The Mating Challenge, you'll want to read this book. Aiden and Nia have their baby!)
Ten years ago on a snowy night, alpha werewolf Adrian Williams was left stranded on a frozen mountain and knew he would die. Until he was rescued by a mysterious, lovely woman came along who shifted into a wolf and fed him her body heat. She gave him new life, and new hope, and led him to a ragged pack of Lupines needing a leader. At that moment, Adrian knew he would survive and form his own pack. He vowed she would become his mate. Nothing would stop him.
Darcy Chambers is no ordinary woman. She’s a powerful Changeling Shifter, who can shapeshift into any animal form. Drawn to Adrian that snowy night, she has resisted the potent sexual chemistry bringing them together. Caught “borrowing” a rare gem from him without permission, she is forced to spend two weeks with Adrian. He desires her as his mate, but also needs her powers to help him retrieve an important crystal that could save a pack member’s life. The crystal is hidden in an abandoned silver mine where dark magick still lingers. But what awaits them in frozen Colorado is not only deadly, it could also expose the dark secret Darcy hides, the secret that could turn this powerful alpha wolf against her…
Bonnie Vanak fell in love with romance novels during childhood. While cleaning a hall closet, she discovered her mother’s cache of paperbacks and started reading. Thus began a passion for romance and a lifelong dislike for housework.
After years of newspaper reporting, Bonnie became a writer for a major international charity. She travels to destitute countries such as Haiti to write about famine, disease and other issues affecting the poor. When the emotional strains of her job demanded a diversion, she turned to her childhood dream of writing romance novels.
She lives in Florida with her husband Frank and two dogs, where she happily writes books amid an ever-growing collection of dust bunnies.
I’ve read the entire series and can say that this story was a bit…more than we have read in the others. No issues with the first ten books, as I LOVE the Wizards and Goddess, however Adrian’s story will touch your heart. He certainly has a backstory that will break that heart. For me, it endeared me to him all the more. And to read how much it affects him today, well, it certainly makes for a great read. Darcy Chambers plays a huge part in Adrian’s story in the past, as well as his present and future. She, too, needs to deal with her own history and her feelings for Adrian (Williams) in order to actually survive. I don’t want to go into details because I cannot do the story justice but I did love their story, even when both Darcy and Adrian needed a push in the right direction. And I would NOT want to meet up with their families as both sets sounded like familial nightmares! There were some short visits with past characters but nothing to confuse the current story. Loved it, as I have all the others.
Gawd I loved this story. I am not a dog, yes, I can fly. Those two words for both Adrian, and Darcey puts them on a tail spin. I laughed and cried. Adrian is out to prove they are meant for each other, and Darcey is out to prove they are not.
Two hardheaded individuals who want family, and love. One is willing to go the extra mile while the other is scared to really dream of the wanting. Darcey has secrets and she is afraid if Adrian finds out what they are he will hate her, loathe her. Adrian has only one goal make her his, period.
Do you like a good mystery, with action, and hotness??? lol Well then you will love this story.
I have been reading Bonnie Vanak's books for a few years now, and I am so glad I found her stories. They will entice you and and you find you yourself in a different world, where not all appears what it seems. Thank you Bonnie for your awesome story. This was gifted to me by the author and I have chosen to give it a review, a honest review. I hope Bonnie keeps writing her wonderful stories where dreams do come true, and werewolves abound.
this series gets better with each new book. Adrian is booted out of his shifter pack..Left to die in blizzard like conditions..Freezing, wet and cold..He is rescued by a mysterious shifter..Warmed and taken to a safe shelter..And given a new purpose in his life. They meet again many years later when Darcy borrows a crystal...She is caught by Adrian and must serve 2 weeks "punishment".. Adrian knows she is his mate..But he doesn't know exactly what she is... Will he be able to over look her origins to be what they need to be for each other? Can they work together to save a life? Great read..Looking forward to many more of the Werewolves of Montana
Darcy, Ella's shifter cat from the last book and Adrian, the Alpha of the Florida werewolf pack get their own story. Ever since she saved his life in a blizzard 10 years ago, Adrian has known that Darcy was his mate, the only woman for him. Unfortunately there's a lot about Darcy he doesn't know - secrets and old prejudices that could keep them apart forever. Anyone who has followed Bonnie Vanak's long running series will have come to expect sexy sweet love stories with strong, alpha males and spunky, no nonsense women who challenge them at every turn and give as good as they get. Snowbound is another of "those" stories; well written, sweet, steamy and oh so much fun. I thoroughly enjoyed Snowbound and look forward to the next installment in the series.
Snowbound, Werewolves of Montana Book 11 by Bonnie Vanak is about the alpha of a pack that started in Colorado then wound up in Florida. The two main characters go to Montana before the story is over. It was wonderful to visit with Aiden’s pack again, but that is not what I liked best about this book. It is the characters that I loved. Adrian and Darcy are loyal, strong, honorable even with a few secrets. This book remined me of all that I enjoyed in the first Werewolves of Montana books. It has danger, intrigue, romance and love between endearing characters. Just a marvelous book. Also, it is a very timely book with the wolves commenting on the ever-growing darkness that seems to be influencing the skins (humans). As we read the paper or watch the news of shooting and attacks, is this not the same genuine reaction we have too?
4.5 Stars The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book.
Adrian is hip-checking alpha. He wants Darla and he's going to get her. It was fun and fascinating to watch both of them circle around each other in an effort not to lose. There was so much more to both of them than either expected. I really enjoyed the story. While this is part of a series, you don't really need to have read the previous ones. You might enjoy the book right before this, Mating Frenzy, in order to get more detail on Darla.
We finally get the hear Adrian and Darcy's story. When Darcy saved Adrian's life, he vowed he would have her for his mate. But, Adrian doesn't know everything about Darcy and she is keeping a big secret. Darcy has spent years trying to do good things for Others and to make up for her terrible family. Her family disowned her when she decided to help Others. Now when Adrian finds out the truth, he isn't willing to accept her. Will he get past her beginnings? Will she forgive him if he can?
Darcy, the changeling shapeshifter who is friends with Ella, gets her story. She saved the life of an alpha wolf years ago and ever since, he's decided that they're going to be mates and has been trying to pin her down. Only she's not ready or willing to be chained to being mated. But as punishment for thievery, Darcy has to spend some time with him, retrieving a powerful crystal from an old cave in snowy Colorado. Aiden knows that Darcy is the woman for him and will do anything to keep her. When they go to Colorado together, she starts to fall for him, as planned, but the power of the crystal and the undead guardian of it reveal information that has Aiden questioning his decision to mate with her. Darcy has guarded her heart all these years for fear of rejection, while secretly wanting to have a home and family, but when Aiden changes his mind, it brings back all her reasons for avoiding relationships.
Meh. I'm still disappointed that we've got filler stories rather than the big ones about Cadeyrn or Drust, but this one wasn't half bad. I liked the characters and their situation, with the fact that the two were attracted but wanted different things. It seemed it would be interesting as they tried to reconcile this. But about part way through, the focus of the book seemed to change unexpectedly. Instead of it being about Darcy being independent and wanting freedom, but secretly also wanting a home and family, it became about Darcy being from the dark kingdom and Aiden's hitherto unknown prejudice against shifters from there. And meanwhile, Darcy is acting all kinds of out of character - she's mopey and no longer independent or longing for freedom and she doesn't in the least mourn the loss of her changeling shifter powers. So I think if this book had held on to a consistent premise or maybe weaved them together nicely, this could have worked better for me. As it was, it was still a pretty enjoyable little escape from the real world, but I didn't quite love it. Also wondering how this ties in to the Wyld werewolves storyline...if at all.

Snowbound with the Alpha Wolf by Bonnie Vanak is Book 11 of the Werewolves of Montana Series. Adrian and Darcy finally get their story. Darcy is a strong female changeling who, despite being born in the Dark Kingdom, always gives of herself. She constantly feels judged and alone so she tends to keep people at arms length. Except for one alpha wolf who wants her for his mate, until he learns the truth of her existence. This was a great addition to the series with a nice bit of suspense mixed into the story. I gave a three star rating on this one because I feel the story didn't seem to flow as well. After reading the excerpt in the back of The Mating Frenzy, I thought the story would be more intense throughout the entirety of the book. There were also a few times I had to stop and reread passages where we encountered two alpha male werewolves (Adrian and Aiden). Their names were similar enough that I needed to stop and think about who said what. Also, Adrian's speech tended to volley from historical in context to more modern phrasing. Aside from that, this is a great addition that fits nicely into the theme of the series and can be read as a stand alone.
