Charley had escaped Silas’s sad excuse for a prison cell with no more than a broken nail. She knows that she is in some deep shit with her employer for not only disappearing for a few days but also for not killing Silas as promised. There was something infuriating and sexy about the man that made it hard for her not to go rubbing her sass in his face. With his sardonic smile and chiseled cheekbones, Silas was quickly becoming her hardest job yet.
Silas found the little red head’s antics cute. Someone wants him dead, but that’s nothing new. He is one of the most hated of his kind. He can’t help it everyone else is too scared to take what they really want, no matter the consequences. So they hired the half-breed to send him to an early grave, but something is getting in the way of her pulling the trigger. Silas knows he pisses her off just as much as he heats her up. Next time he gets her alone, he plans to investigate both.
Charley wants this job to be over. The target is a smug, arrogant dragon with a great butt. Silas has leverage over the red-headed halfling who is trying to kill him. He’ll give her what she wants but only after he has her for a night, or three.
K.C. Stewart is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Hailey Holloway series and most recently, the Adirondack Pack series. All her life she had fantasized and day-dreamed on a regular basis but it wasn’t until she began writing short stories that she made those fantasies a reality. She has graduated to novels but still dabbles in the occasional flash fiction and short story. Because of her love for reading and the written word, K.C. is currently continuing her education at Clarion University for Library Science. When she isn’t taking photographs, studying or writing, she is supporting a very real gummy bear habit. Currently, she lives with her boyfriend, german shepherds and cats in central Pennsylvania.
I still didn't find out how Charlie got out of Silis's jail lol.
This was a short story about what we have seen kinda budding into something on Silis's end with Charlie, in the last couple books in the series.
This was short sexy, and to the point for the most part. It's Silis, and Charlie's journey, or angry dance to LOVE? Maybe, read and find out. It's definitely worth the read.
I’ve just finished the series! It was really fun. I liked the story, although it could have been more detailed. Hailey annoyed me a little bit sometimes because I thought she was a bit childish in some moments but it passed. She grew and was a strong character in general. Silas was by far my favorite character. I wish there was a series all about him. Dacea, Alex, Lia and Darby were pretty good also. The downside of the books was that there were a lot of editing errors and a few minor problems such as getting Silas’ eye color wrong in one of the books. Having said all that, I do recommend them and will be keeping them in my kindle.
Swelter was an enjoyable short story. It is the story of a young half-breed (half dragon) woman called Charley and a dragon/man called Silas. Charley has been hired to kill Silas. Under normal circumstances this isn't a problem, she'll kill anyone for the right price, the issue is the fact that they are attracted to one another. Each time she tries to go through with the hit something goes wrong. I liked Charley. She has a smart mouth and an attitude and Silas can't help but like her too. The story moved along quite rapidly. There is some sex, though I would not call it graphic or overdone. Silas is quite surprising. He is very important in the dragon community and seems to know what he wants and how to get it. Right now .... He wants Charley. He knows his way around the kitchen too, which is a plus for me :D If you are looking for a quick read with, what I found to be a happy ending ... You will enjoy Swelter :) This was my first book by K.C. Stewart. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I was given an ARC copy 'Swelter'for an honest review.
Charlotte who likes to be called Charley by everyone except she lets Silas her nemesis get away with it but no one else.she has been hired to kill a Silas the Dragon Leader she wanted to hate him but she could no more hate him than she could go without food and when he finally got her in his bed they both realized that it was a lot more fun to spend time together than to fight each other but she likes the fighting she refuses to give in and she would leave right after sex every time and the one time that she spent the night she got mad at herself but that is when she realized that Silas meant more to her than she wanted him too but her employer was quite put out with her taking her time to do Silas in he wanted him dead yesterday and so he told her that he was going to call Silas to his office and she better be there to kill him. This was a very well written and page turning suspenseful romance worth reading even though it is a short story. I received a copy for an honest review.
I loved it! I loved the interactions between Silas and Charley - his heat filled and confident talk worked well with her constant sniping and snarky comments. I loved the twist at the end.
