Wow!! ...... This was a dark, dark Wonderland ..... and I freakin' LOVED it! White Rabbit is like a pulp noir Alice in Wonderland mixed with the darkness of Coraline and a solid snort of the epically gritty, druggish Requiem For A Dream.
My only complaint - why end it there? ..... I want MORE ..... NOW!!

This is an extremely engrossing book which will grab your attention and won't let it go again!
The Red Queen's goofy juice, White Rabbit is more potent than normal drugs. One dose gives you a perfect high, however, if you buy the wrong stuff - a cheap knock off of White Rabbit from a competitor - then you die.

There are also other ways to feel happy, to escape the dull life that people in this world have. They can get cheap or expensive body modifications which are all the rage. This gives them the ability to turn into a hog for example, at the cheap end of the market, or into a fully furry white rabbit at the top end of it. Complete with perfect fur.

One narcotic cop, Alice Liddel, is working undercover. She is trying to break an underground drugs ring. But the trap which has been set up to capture the gang, is flipped prematurely by her works colleague, Dormouse, and Alice ends up chasing a White Rabbit (a drugs runner in a modified body) till she nearly catches him, but as she turns a corner, she gets a bottle of Wonderland - a new strain of White Rabbit drug - smashed in her face. Needless to say, it almost kills her.

She wakes up weeks later, after almost dying a 6 times. At which point she is told by Dormouse, that she had accidently shot and killed a child of 10 years old and had not shot the White Rabbit perp that she had been aiming for during her pursuit.

A month after leaving hospital Alice is taken to a Police Tribunal. She has a lot to answer for and feels terrible remorse for the death of the child.
So she tries to find a way back from disgrace. A way to find the White Rabbit and exoneration.

What follows is a truly engrossing read about a woman aiming for redemption and the actions she takes to get it.

This is a very interesting and gripping book. I found myself glued to the pages. Needless to say I was saddened when I reached the end of it and I am avidly awaiting the second book in the series.

White Rabbit - a review by Rosemary Kenny

'Fings ain't wot they used ter be...', says the song and that's certainly true of Wonderland nowadays!
The place's rep has gone right down the pan, with everyone hooked like a fish on White Rabbit -a drug so powerful and popular, the Red Queen had it developed and put in the water supply!
People waste what money they can get on transforming themselves into a rainbow variety of animals from Caterpillars to Dormice, Flamingoes to Walruses - even Rabbits, like the White one they worship.
Meanwhile Alice is a Narco agent - having caught and jailed the Red Queen, she's now on the Rabbit's tail with her trusty sidekick Dormouse. Whether on the run in back alleys or at the seedy Looking Glass Lounge, Alice's always on his case - determined to get the #1 on her Most Wanted list, whatever it takes!

Creative genius Russell Nohelty has certainly put a twist in the traditional tale with this version, which is strictly for adults only. Small but beautifully formed it's a work of literary artistry - I loved it!

Dark, dirty, grimy. That's the Wonderland Nohelty shows, a place skidding donhill after the fall of the Red Queen. Alice, working as a detective in Wonderland's Nacro Squad gives the reader a guided tour of Wonderland and its dark alleys and history. Then she loses her footing and falls from grace by accidentally shooting a kid while pursuing a drug dealer.
The books is wonderfully twisted, delivering all the darkness, corruption, and sleaze of noir detective films and pulp novels, mashed up with the craziness of Wonderland. A delightful and engaging read.

Not kindle unlimited, not sure any of his are, but I have gotten quite a few freebies so trying to clear them off my computer, kindle, whatever, after reading of course. List at end of what the writer listed in email for his books, not sure if have all of them but will read and review any do. Do NOT see this one on amazon.

okay definitely different take on things a bit, and I've read alternate universe sherlock holmes with Good Queen Mary of Scots..and Houdini...and Doyle...and Challenger...and....

This is what happens when gritty American crime drama meets Alice in Wonderland. I'd say it veers more toward the former than the latter, but there's something about the mix up that is almost... Batman-like. You know, the dirty city riddled with crime and crazy criminal types while the law struggles to deal with them (assuming it actually wants to).

It's a sweary and angry Narco cop Alice in this world. Once upon a time, the Red Queen ruled Wonderland and enforced happiness (and madness) by way of the drug known as White Rabbit. That is until the coup that brought *cough* law and *cough* order. Detective Alice is on the hunt for a dealer dishing out the banned happy juice, but events are about to take a nasty turn.

While I'll admit I was a little disappointed by the total angry Americanisation of Wonderland and somewhat taken aback by just how adult it could be, I can appreciate the twisted re-imagining of the setting. As I say, very Gotham-like full of larger than life characters who reference the source material. It's well written, but could be a bit repetitive at times. The ending however felt like a major let down after so much stalling, circular thinking and build up. I wish it had a little more resolution to it, hence knocking it down a star.

-I received a free copy of this ebook in a giveaway, my thoughts are my own-

This was a very short "grown up" version of Alice in Wonderland. I tend to like reimaginings of old fairy tales, so I was looking forward to reading this. It was my second recent excursion into an updated Alice. It certainly kept my interest, but it was quite a bit darker than what I normally like to read.

It is definitely adult reading material, only. I would not want my kids anywhere around this. It is apparently going to be part of a series of books in the Alice world.

This was not long enough to do much more than introduce the characters, briefly, and relate a couple of brief episodes. As such, any rating at all is necessarily incomplete.

If you want to read a fairytale or a re-telling classic children's story – don't read this book. If you want to read a weird twisted adult story with characters resembling Alice in Wonderland - this is for you.
It's dark, there are drugs, underdog characters, a detective going rogue, a bit like Dark Knight/Batman. Unfortunately, it is quite short and doesn't start off enough to make me want to read more of the Alice series (is there even more?). It was interesting to imaging what has become of the Alice in Wonderland characters but I think this is not really my genre.

White Rabbit by Russell Nohelty

When I picked Up White Rabbit (as a gift from the author for joining his mailing list) I thought it was a short story. Spoiler, it isn't. It is longer than I expected and ends in a cliff hanger. I did enjoy where Nohelty seems to be going with this, so I will probably read more episodes. Basically he twists Through the Looking Glass into something really sinister. Alice is a narcotics police officer, white rabbit is a drug, and The Looking Glass is a place. All of the remaining symbols are also represented. It's a terrific jumping off point.

Well that was BEYOND weird and dark. I love how the characters and even titles made their way into the story. Is it bad that I`m thoroughly intrigued by the Caterpillar?

Way too short. I so hope we get more to this universe, and soon!

Ok.....
That was weird. And not in a good 'Alice in Wonderland' way. I dont know what to make of it. I didnt understand half of it but the other half that I did get, was good. If this was longer, as an actual novel and not just a novella, It may have been better. Still, I did like the real Wonderland references.

One of the strangest books I have read in a long time. Who knew that Alice in Wonderland could be a mean ass narco cop that just wants justice. But after chasing the bunny is kills a kid not that she can remember as she was as high as a kite not her fault though. Will she find the bunny and get the answers that she is looking for? A good read.

This short story is very dark, weaving the Alice in Wonderland story elements into an underworld of drugs and violence. An interesting read, and I'm intrigued to see where the author takes it next.
NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions

Ooooo.... I hate this. It's a teaser short story. And like Rabbit, one taste of the addictive elixir, all you want, all you need is more.

I hope RN doesn't disappoint with the series because this promises a twisted tale of noirish grit with the madness of Wonderland.

An interesting take on the setting and characters of Alice and Wonderland. I'm somewhat inclined to read more.

I thought some of the swearing and language was excessive or unnecessary, but it could have been worse.

I love twisted slants on Alice and nursery rhymes - this is right up my alley. I was getting into it only to have it abruptly finish (hence a star deduction.)

Short. Drugs and Violence in a dystopian future world. Profanity. If there is a demand for hallucinogenic drugs, someone is bound to fill it if the market is profitable whether or not it’s legal.

Great short/teaser story with some interesting world-building. The writing convincingly builds the characters and atmosphere. This sounds like a series I definitely want to read more of.

This was a cool twist on Alice in Wonderland. I liked the portrayal of the main characters from the original story. Can’t wait to read the next book!
