Back in high school, Ann and Jack were inseparable. You know, one of those couples that’s so cute everyone loves to hate them. You can imagine Ann’s surprise when Jack chooses a public forum to break up with her in the most humiliating way possible.
Fast forward 12ish years and Jack’s back in town and first on his list is getting reacquainted with Ann, who also happens to be his nephew’s elementary school teacher.
Ann’s first thought?
As she contemplates spending time with Jack again, a plan begins to form with the help of Ann’s two BFFs. Make Jack fall for her all over again and then dump his ass, just like he did to her all of those years ago.
This is the first book in a trilogy where Ann and her besties try and get revenge on the men they feel wronged them in high school and it was originally released a few years ago. When I noticed the Entangled rereleases on NetGalley, I figured I’d give them a shot.
Ann’s story served as a jumping off point for the rest of the series and while I enjoyed her and Jack together, I think the other two stories are going to do a better job of floating my boat. Ann had a little less backbone than I care for in a heroine who feels she’s been wronged and I would’ve enjoyed a wee bit more confrontation on her part. Jack was serviceable as far as heroes go, but nothing out of the ordinary. All in all, a pleasant little story and a great in between read.

Served Cold is the start of a fun little revenge series by Marie Harte. We got 6 people that went to high school together. Ann, Riley and Maya stayed friends and continued to live in town. 12 years later and the three men who wronged them move back.
In this first book, we get Ann and Jacks story. These two were the high school sweethearts that everyone thought would be together forever, until Jack dumps Ann in a very public and embarrassing way. What she doesn’t know is that others conspired to break these two up. When Jack moves back, he realizes he will never get over Ann and he’s willing to put the past behind him to get her back. Ann isn’t so forgiving and decides to get back at him.
For a revenge story this actually was more light and fun. Ann is just too nice to seek revenge and she realizes she never got over Jack either. I enjoyed reading about Jack wining and dining her. For him thinking she cheated on him in high school, he isn’t holding back on her. It’s actually very sweet.

I'm probably going to be one of those who didn't really enjoy the book and give lots of stars to it.
I didn't really like it. The story, imho, is a balance of meh and wtf. The characters are interesting enough but the whole story about exacting revenge on an ex-boyfriend who dumped you and left you in a situation? That will only work if the revenge plan is awesomely badass! Unfortunately, the girls' plan is as hairbrained as it gets and the heroine, Ann, just do not have the balls to carry it out and make it a decent one. I am disappointed.
The revenge is to make Jack the ex fall in love with Ann all over again and then she's supposed to dump him - a plan concocted by 3 besties fueled by alcohol, misguided girl power and the desperate need for closure. The plan is as brilliant as a bunch of guys daring each other to light their farts.
As expected, the plan backfires because the new Jack is hotter, better and hell-bent in getting his Ann back. Goody-goody Ann just didn't stand a chance. She needs closure, she needs to know what happened back in high-school when he dumped her unceremoniously, but she's not getting it as long as she's sexing it up with him everytime, all the time. So she's confused. Pfft...go figure.
I found myself plodding along the story and going "oh no...not again" everytime these two end up f*cking instead of addressing the issue that's bugging them. It is a classic case of "if we have enough sex, we might fry the bad history out of our brains and move on blissfully". Come one....what really happened to Ann's actually a big deal but these two made it like nothing at all. I would have appreciated a story where the woman kicks the guy in the nuts in the very beginning, get all past issues sorted out, tell him he was an ass, get him to grovel and then have lots of awesome make up sex. But that's just me and my version of girl power and revenge. So that's probably why i got more and more irritated as i struggled to reach the ending (that OCD-ish part of me still wants to get to the bottom of the story). The ending, to me, was anticlimactic.
However, i am going to read the second book and hope it'll be a better one than this.

Cute, sassy and fun! I’m gonna like this series!
Ann and Jack were an item in high school until he tossed her over very publicly and in a most humiliating way. Now he’s back and after one too many glasses of wine and with the type of advice only good friends who are willing to sit next to you in jail can give, she’s going to find some closure by getting her revenge on him.
Jack has attempted to move on in life. He’s had relationships and he’s honestly tried to make them work, but no one could ever measure up to the girl he first fell in love with. Returning home, he’s determined to spend a little time with Ann and get her out of his system. If only it was that easy.
The hero felt a little stilted in the beginning. His actions seemed out of character for what he had experienced a decade ago. However, once these two get together he is all for winning the woman of his dreams and his characterization smoothed out.
This is a fast paced read with great secondary characters that will each be having their own books. I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to the next one as well!

This was entertaining. A second chance at love where the first had been totally derailed by petty high school lies.
Ann and Jack were a solid couple in high school. Right when Ann really needed him, he dropped her in a very public, humiliating manner. Now twelve years later, Ann is still in their hometown and is now Jack's nephew's teacher. Jack's work brings him back to town, and he and Ann reconnect. They both still harbored a little bit of anger about what happened in high school, but Ann decided maybe this was her chance to love him and leave him and hopefully leave him reeling. But Jack won't let that happen, and not quite on purpose. He's just basically the same guy he was back in high school, only improved in a lot of ways. And their chemistry picked up right where it left off. And while Ann tries really hard to keep her distance, Jack reels her back in every time, just by being himself. But things get mucky when he finds out why she started seeing him again, as well as why she needed him back in high school.
It was a really sweet story, and parts were funny, too. (The Grand Canyon/Eiffel Tower was hilarious.) And it was kinda fun to see Maya get blackmailed into dating Dex, which is probably the next book. I'll have to come back to this series, because I want to see how her friends fall for Jack's friends. :-)

I received Served Cold as an ARC from netgalley and publisher to give an honest review.
This is the first book in a series of three but all could be read as a standalone.
Out of the blue when at high school Ann was cruelly and publicly ditched by Jack her boyfriend whom she was totally in love with. Now a teacher she meets Jack when he returns to his hometown, his nephew being in Ann's class.
Jack makes no bones about wanting to reconnect with Ann in every sense seemingly oblivious to how badly he treated her. When having a night in with her two best friends they decide they should get their revenge on the boys that hurt them so much ( so setting the scene for the next two books)
Unfortunately for Ann revenge is difficult to serve when she knows she is completely falling for Jack all over again. He too seems smitten talking about a full and proper relationship, it doesn't harm that the sex is off the charts for both of them.
An extremely enjoyable book, with some sparkling dialogue and funny scenes.

Ann and Jack used to date in Highschool. Even though they were in love, people are known to make mistakes, so they split up. Ten years later, Ann still holds a grudge against him. So, she and her two best friends decide to have their revenge.
That is like the worst idea they could have come up with. Seriously. And it will obviously end badly.
Because of revenge, she and Jack start to spend time together. And quite predictably, they fall in love.
This is the second book that I read of this author. I hated "a sure thing", but this was ok. I didn't like Ann that much, but she is not so bad.
Finally, I just have to say that the girl in the cover looks crazy and maybe even scary.

I wanted to like this book much more than I did. Mainly because of Jack and I knocked off a star because of him. His attitude and behavior was... immature and ridiculous for a 30 yr old man. He acted like he was still in high school.
The girls aren't much better with the exception of Ann who seemed to be level headed and didn't want to get revenge on Jack despite what she and her two best friends cooked up the night they sat, drunk plotting revenge at the 3 men who upended their lives and all 3 had just returned to town.
Maya was so badly behaved. I liked Riley. She and Anson I'm sure will have a story. Anson is a total problem child. Dex I liked very much. He and Maya butt heads in the best book.
This book had potential, Ann was the backbone of the book. I cringe saying this but there can be such a thing as too much sex in a book especially when the male feels like he's out to prove himself. Not my thing. And much to my disappointment, Jack has a hissy fit and goes silent for a week after Ann tells him the truth about something that happened that he didn't know about because he had just publicly dumped her... for the school whore.... in front of the whole cafeteria.... and now at 30 when again she needs him, he takes off. What a freaking wuss. Yup, did not like Jack. Too bad he didn't listen to his brother a little more.

4 Vengeful Stars!

I love a book with a jilted ex. I also love it even more when the girl wants revenge. MUAH MUAH, I’m evil I know, nothing you can say can change my mind. And ladies, lets face it, if you mess with us and jilt us we have already planned out your demise. Which is always very painful and very slow, oh and it almost always involves your penis, because lets face it, that's what always gets you in trouble in the first place!!!

So Ann is now a elementary teacher in the town’s school. A small town since she teaches her ex’s nephew. And I have to say she is a better person than some because I think most would not be mature enough to do that and not feel a little bitter towards the child.
She smiled and waved back. Next to him she saw Laura Bloom, his grandmother, driving. Nice Family…if one could forget about Jack Bloom. Even after all this time she hated to think of him, but having his nephew in class made it difficult to pretend he didn’t exist.
On weekly wine night with her friends, Maya and Riley, they confirm something that makes Ann drink a lot more wine that she should!
Maya tugged Ann to face her. “So, my day might have been bad, but yours is gonna get a whole lot worse. Get some wine in you.”
Dreading the bad news Maya looked all too gleeful to share, Ann fetched herself a glass and sat back down. “Go ahead. Shoot”
“Drink First,” Riley ordered from the kitchen. “You’ll thank me later.”

He still towered over her at more than six feet to her five-four. Short brown hair frames a handsome face, from which his bright blue eyes blazed. Had luck been on her side, he would have gotten slovenly and out of shape. Instead, he looked muscular even under jeans and a blue sweater.

Served Cold is the first of the Best Revenge series, but I ended up reading it after I read Served Hot, which is actually the second entry. Served Cold suffered from the same problems as Served Hot - too much sex, not a strong enough emotional connection, and most importantly, the revenge plot is weak to the point of invisibility. When I think of revenge plots, I want something really intense, with some serious anger driving the vengeance. Here in Served Cold, the vengeance is practically nonexistent and Ann is too much of a boring doormat to serve up any kind of vengeance, anger, what have you.
Ann and Jack were high school sweethearts until Jack dissed her coldly by dumping her out of the blue and taking up with the school mean girl. 12 years later, Ann has gotten on with her life. She's an elementary school teacher, she's happy, and she's got 2 good friends in her life. It was all just sex and nothing much happening until the very end. If the whole story had been as interesting as the end, this review would have been much different. But, as it's written, Served Cold is pretty lifeless and boring.

Ann, Maya & Riley were the not-so-popular in high school, worse, they were wronged by boys who are recently back to their small town of Bend in Oregon. Past not easily forgotten, these girls have plans to get them back for the pain they’ve caused them.
Harte starts with Ann’s story that absolutely captured my heart. The plot was a bit predictable, but the story was excellent. Ann’s plans obviously would backfire on her, but it was fun to see. Jack is one not to reckon with. He may have wronged her, but he’s also back to apologize and more than willing to earn a second chance. Ah hell, he knew what he wanted, and he was going for it. Ann was totally screwed from the get go.
Served Cold was beautifully executed. I love Ann and Jack’s story. It was sweet, funny a quiet a fast read. The steam factor was hot, kinky and included lots of dirty talking. I will never look at lettuce the same way again. With that said, I can’t wait to read Maya and Riley’s stories. I’m hoping it’ll be just as fun and steamy.

When three women hatch a plot of revenge against unsuspecting men, the result is an explosive conflagration of hot sex, laugh-out-loud dialogue lines and many classic rom-com moments. I found myself grinning at a school teacher's antics behind closed doors but I was especially taken with Maya, the loud and take-no-prisoners woman, whose story with Dex is already making me moist with anticipation.
As much as I loved Ann Weaver (wasn't too sold on Jack and the typical playboy past that many readers seem to like), the last part of Served Cold left me breathless - and was perhaps the book's biggest draw for me.
Damn you, Marie Harte, for making me wait for Maya and Dex.

Every book I've read by Marie Harte I've enjoyed. This was no exception! It was a sweet and steamy reunited lovers story about Jack and Ann who were high school sweethearts torn apart by misunderstandings and lies. When Jack moves back to town, Ann decides to get revenge for how he broke her heart, only once they start spending time together, things don't go as planned. The sparks that were so hot back then are even hotter now. Once they finally clear the air about what happened in high school, they are able to finally put the past where it belongs and get their hea. A few things were a little predictable but overall I enjoyed this one! I'm interested to see what happens between the friends who will get the next two books!

Marie Harte is phenomenal at dreaming up strong minded and over the top female characters and this time around she brings along the laughter to tempt her way into the heart.

Oh my fucking god what a goddamn waste of my fucking time.
Literally the plot ended before it even started. She gave in to him even before she ever tried to go through with her plan. This girl literally has no freaking backbone. She can’t even say no to him like omfg I hate weak ass females like this. The miscarriage she had to deal with was a huge thing yet the author made it seem like a passing thing like what in the actual fuck? I want to erase this book from my memory because that’s how stupid it was. I literally want to punch the heroine in the face. Like get a fucking grip. Can you even make your mind up about anything? Nope! why not just fuck his brains out? Oh sounds like a great idea! 🙄 rolling my eyes so hard right now.

We have two old Hugh school sweethearts, that due to misconceptions and miscommunication broke each others hearts.. years later Anna along with her friend plot for revenge, but since Anna is the sweet one she really can't go thru with iy, since she is still in love with Jack..but can they move on? In HS Jack and Ann were always together. But then Jack chose to break up with Ann in the cafeteria in front of everyone to break up with Ann for the class floozie. Ann was devastated. What Jack and Ann didn’t know others worked together to break Jack and Ann up and making Jack believe Ann had cheated on him. Around twelve years later Jack moved back to town and was staying. Jack had never got over Ann.Jack wants to get reacquainted with Ann. Ann and Jack had no contact since he broke up with her. Ann just happens to be Jack’s nephews elementary school teacher. One night as Ann and her three best friends Maya and Riley were having someone they talked about Ann seeing Jack again, get him to fall for her and then dump him. Ann thought revenge would be good. Ann feels she needs closure and to know what had happened to make Jack dump her and the way he did it. Jack and Ann’s chemistry started right back up when they got together. Jack also knew he wanted Ann back. Ann really tries for revenge but she is really too nice of a person. Also Ann finds she isn’t over Jack. But then Jack finds out the real reason Ann had started seeing him again but also why she had needed him so much before he had dumped her.
I really enjoyed reading this book . I loved the plot and pace. I really liked Jack and Ann together. I liked how Jack wined and dined Ann to try to get her back. I didn’t like how Jack and Ann made it seem what happened back in HS wasn’t really that bad. I really liked how Maya is blackmailed again to date Dex. There was a little too much sex in this for me. I did laugh while reading this. I also loved the twists and turns and the characters and I recommend. I wish I could have rated this 4.5

Served Cold is the first book in a standalone three-book series about revenge by Marie Harte. Ann Weaver and Jack Bloom were a couple back in high school when a series of unfortunate events caused a break-up. Having both gone their separate ways, Ann stayed in Bend while Jack left. Now Jack's back though and Ann is still hurt by the events in their past. After a night with Maya and Riley, the trio decide it's time to exact revenge on Jack.
Jack's PhD is allowing him to be choosier about where he teaches and does research, so he has decided to move back to Bend. When he picks up his nephew from school, he's surprised to learn his teach is Ann Weaver, the one who got away. He remembers the incident in high school differently than Ann does and he's still trying to figure out why he wasn't good enough for her.
What ensues is a truly combustible reunion between Ann and Jack that has the reader rooting for them. At the same time, though, also wondering, if the pasts they each remember have scarred them so badly, why it took so long for them to talk about the truth. I know, I know - as my husband would tell me when I ask a question like that about something we are watching - if Ann and Jack discussed this earlier there would be no book (or movie or tv episode).
The story was cute and I enjoyed Ann and Jack together. Maya and Riley are awesome best friends, and Ann is lucky to have them. Served Cold is the starting point for the trilogy and I love how the author weaved the stars of the other two books through this one. Not much, but enough to know who the couples will be and what happened in the past causing them to butt heads.

Served Cold is the first book in the exciting new Best Revenge series by bestselling author Marie Harte. This story had a great plot, terrific characters, lots of humor, definitely some emotional moments, and some surprise twists. As much as I liked the overall story, there were still a few things that kept me from loving it. It's a great start to this new series, and I would like to read the rest of it.
Although Jack and Ann are good characters, I didn't really like how easily they fell into bed together, especially when they both had been heartbroken (for different reasons) by the other when they were together in high school, and didn't bother to get the closure they both wanted and needed prior to being together again. I honestly didn't understand how if they were such a strong couple back then, why Jack would believe people who he didn't like or trust instead of just asking Ann for the truth. Yeah, I know that he had his reasons, weak as they were, but if he truly loved her like he claimed, his issues wouldn't have won over common sense. JMO.
Overall, this was a great story, had really good characters, and the main characters get their long awaited HEA. I think that the next book will be possibly the best one in the series judging by the characters, and how they respond to one another. Lol! Definitely going to be an interesting one, that's for sure!
I would recommend this book, series, and terrific author.

I love this authors other work, and feel like since this book was one of her earlier works, she has since fine tuned her writing to be something much better than this older book reflects.

Due to a lying snake, Jack broke up with Ann, not knowing the secret that Ann hid from him and the rest of the world other than her two best friends, Riley and Maya. Now that he is back, being all sweet charm and smiles, it’s easy to fall back in love with him making her let go of the need for revenge.
I didn’t really feel their connection was very deep. Jack was pushy and Ann was quick to let him into her life again. I also think that it took too long for them to talk about what really happened between them in high school. My favorite character is Maya. I can’t wait to read her book. I also love that the hoe Selena gets what she deserves, a broken nose at the end.

Served Cold is Ann and Jack's story which is quite sassy and fun, but also quite erotic.
It's a fast paced story line, with entertaining secondary characters.
The love scenes this pair share are hot, kinky, sensual and passionate.
Although this title is very well written, I struggled to connect wit the characters and felt that the story line lacked plot and character development. As much of the action takes place between the sheets, but not much else.
I look forward to reading further titles in this series.

Served lukewarm, I was
This is my first book by this author, and I think the premise is interesting. I am just not sure what to say about the heat and the comedic attempts on this one because I didn't feel the punch if you know what I mean. I also have a little bit of an issue with our hero. I feel he wants to be the dominant in bed, but it seems to contradict his character. Of course, in real life, people are not what they seem to be, but I find it too much in this book.
I would love to read the rest of the series. Not because I am rooting for the couple, but the ending seemed like a cliffhanger/ prelude to the next installment. I can't help but be a bit curious.

This story was cool for a distraction but I think the voice wasn't right for the multiple characters. The voice sped up whenever it was the men and all of the women sounded Caucasian thought there was an islander and black woman in the story. Unfortunately, it sounded more annoying than anything else and detracted from the story. So whether it was the men or women, the voice just didn't quite fit. There was a lot of starting and stopping which shouldn't happen on a 6 hour audiobook. Also, I didn't like Jack all that much. He treated Ann abominably and was too stubborn to fix what was broken with them. Not attractive at all. Ann was sweet natured and I like how she was written.

I have loved every book I have read of Marie Harte's and I think this new series is going to be my favourite yet.

Fast forward 12 years, and Jack is back in town. Their chemistry is still there, but this time Ann is after revenge for her 17 year old self.
An absolute fantastic story that is super sexy. I can't wait to read the other books in this series.
