DNF at 45%. The writing is overly simplistic, repetitive and predictable. I prefer my books to be more descriptive, how their expressions change, little details in characters and environment but there's none of that here. Everything's always focused on their (non)relationship and how they want each other, there are no descriptions of how they feel at any point in time or what they like about each other. They just want one another and then it's repeated endlessly.
Not to mention the weird time jumping, 3 years, 2 weeks, 2 months, 3 months and so on. Why? It's unnecessary.
Furthermore, they're all one dimensional, one's an older hot mom/wife/workaholic who lusts after her babysitter while the other's a younger hot/athletic/student who lusts after older women, that's pretty much it. Then there are the kids who are perfect of course and the husband who's kinda a dick and deserves to be cheated on. No one in this book feels like a real human.
Also, Kelly is a psychology student in her last year which would give her a unique insight into the behavior of others yet it doesn't reflect in her character at all.
Have you read Behind the Green Curtain? Because this is a bit of a watered down version. Let's get the positives out of the way first. The sex scenes were HOT and oddly enough the main characters had some pretty good chemistry, sadly that's about it though.
There are a truck ton of things that irked me about this book. Let's see if I can sum the premise up though. So Kelly (no last name given, I guess she's like Cher or Madonna in that respect) is a senior psychology student who happens to be the Stevenson family's babysitter. Said babies just happen to be 16 and 17 years old. The lady of the house, Andrea, however doesn't want to fire Kelly because she happens to be attracted to her and vice versa since the two shared a steamy kiss back when Kelly was still a freshman.
The book eventually does have a happily ever after however the journey to that destination is a bit of a disaster. Here are some examples:
*It's full of grammatical errors. (keep in mind it's an indie author) *The age descriptions are sometimes conflicting, don't try and figure it out. Just keep in mind that Kelly is 25ish and Andrea is 40ish. *Chapter 6 was chapter 5 but from Kelly's pov. Both were very short and could have been turned into a single chapter in my opinion. *Were chapters 22 & 23 necessary? Here's what happened: * The book had a pretty abrupt ending.
I won't even mention some of the other things that just didn't add up to me, you'll have to read it for yourself if you're brave enough. This one gets 2.5* that I rounded up because the book does have potential, the execution just wasn't up to par.
Liked this one a lot. Second book from Collins and I liked it better than One Way Ticket (which wasn't bad fyi). This one is a big age gap, probably the biggest one I've seen at 16 years. There was some infidelity involved, I feel the universe is trying to say something. I've had a whole string of them lately. Well universe, from me to you, sod off. I've been married 23 years and don't see that changing. Lol. So you can quit with the cheating books, ktnxbai universe.
The cover should've scared me away, but because the reviews were good I gave it a try. I couldn't finish it... Not only is it full of errors (even I could tell and I'm not a native English speaker), the story reads like bad fanfic. The characters weren't well fleshed out and there was no emotion or depth to the story.
I really really enjoyed this book! The characters were amazing in it. I was able to read it in about 2 hours. Excellent read! I look forward to reading more by this author.
I loved this book. I loved the characters and how they interacted with each other. I like how they had feeling for each other but neither one knew what the other one was feeling and then they took a chance and it worked out.
It was an okay read. Probably enjoyed it more because of the age difference aspect, which is always my weakness. But still the book was lacking some kind of substance. There wasn't really anything that put me off (sone minor edits could be done) but there wasn't anything that drew me in either. It's all pretty flat and straightforward. The characters are pretty one dimensional and there's not much that makes you connect with them.
Sometimes I thought Andrea was just putting Kelly on the backburn since there wasn't much of a hurry to end her marriage and start a relationship with Kelly.
Rob is an ass, Michael is the typical 18 year old boy, I loved Jess and sometimes I thought Kelly was just there for Andrea, even though she tried to have a relationship to forget about Andrea, A for effort.
It's a nice reading, I'm glad to have books to read and there's always read new authors.
This is a wonderful May/September romance. The character development is good, the chemistry between the leading ladies is fantastic, and the supporting characters, Jess in particular, are well written and well used in the storyline.
4.5 stars. Married woman of two teenagers falls for her kids babysitter who is sixteen years her junior and starts an affair with her. Drama ensues. I love it here. So many tropes that I love in this. Only reason it’s not the full five stars because it’s just so short and the ending felt extremely rushed. Other than that I loved this.
Andrea is a lesbian and has known for years but she’s still with her husband for the sake of her kids. Kelly is the babysitter and the connection between her and Andrea was fantastic. So much longing and sexual tension between them. Both women are very likable and I was rooting for them and their relationship even though it was forbidden. I liked the way their romance developed and while I wanted a bit more drama and angst at the end the HEA was great. Definitely my favorite book I’ve read from this author. Loved it.
I love this writer. I came across this book from 2017 and wasn’t sure if I read it. Which I did but it was just as good as the first time. Kelly was super cool but to have a secret crush on your boss. Andrea was a married attorney who worked constantly. With a loveless marriage and two soon to be college bound kids, Andrea was throwing herself into work. But then one night when she came home late, Kelly was playing the piano and all things were never the same. Emma Collins write connections with such ease.
I really liked the book. The people were great and the story was cute but I don't like how she cheated. I am confused about a couple things but I am going to read it again and see if I missed something and if I am still off with the story then I will redo this and ask and if I figured it out then I will rewrite this to give it more praise.
This is a good story, worth reading. Second chances is a reality of today's world. Andrea is Kelly's boss, a busy lawyer with two teenage kids and a husband who is always drinking. Both are attracted to each other for a long time, and although Kelly is 16 years younger, they give it a try, a second chance to find love and be happy.
First of all I love a nice age gap story and this one was well done. Although I don't condone cheating the story was really sweet, great sex scenes and a lovely ending.
Two Mary Sues fall in love and everything is Mary Sue-rific. Also, this book needed a better editor. For most of the book, I thought it was an English translation, but nope, just not well edited.
I was really enjoying this book but then the end was a little lacking. I would have really enjoyed hearing more about Jess. I also think that she left some other issues unresolved. Still a good story and worth the read.
It was a cute story I suppose. The ending seemed fast pace with all the lovey dovey sex, and all the other characters faded into the background... Overall this was nothing spectacular. I read it as a part of a collection "From May to December."
