Chapter Three – Yet Philosophy: Wakanda has been infiltrated by the artificial intelligence known as Machinesmith. Can the Wakandan student scientists and their Takumi Master partners stop the spread of the Biotechnic Invasion?
Chuck Brown has written The Punisher and Black Panther comics for Marvel. He is the writer and co-creator of Rotten Apple for Dark Horse Comics, and co-creator of Bitter Root at Image Comics.
Interesting and pass the Bechdel test, but really this installment feels like an ad in waiting. I do like the use of women and people of color as sciencists in this series.
Pretty average like the first issue but a bit better. I definitely liked the second one more. I will probably finish the series since it is not very long but I don't have high hopes. I absolutely hate that car in the covers...The whole idea of building a car as a balance between human and machine sounds so weird. I don't know why but whenever I see that car, it feels so out of place. I like seeing Shuri and other women of color as scientists though.
In the third instalment of Black Panther: Soul of a Machine we return, once more, to the fight between T’Challa and Machinesmith. Machinesmith is now stuck in a bond, one which the Wakandans have time to stop him, to flush him out of their system and take their city back for good.
This was so much better than the first two issues, in my personal opinion. I felt like this one kicked things up a large notch, and it brought us a lot more information. This felt more personal, on the story line, than the second issue, and I feel like this was a much better continuation. The first issue was more about the start of everything, and the second instalment felt like there was more rushing than thinking out the plot.
The artwork is still relatively the same, but I think I definitely prefer Chuck Brown’s go at writing this story line. It flows a lot more smoothly, and it feels more… right, than the previous issue. Chuck Brown, definitely a comic author I want to look more into.
Week 3 of Soul Of A Machine, with the Black Panther and the Takumi Masters figuring out how to stop Machinesmith they go about trying to create a plan to stop him.
The majority of this issue takes place in cyberspace, or more specifically in Wakanda’s mainframe. We see Shuri team up with one of the Takumi Masters to try and find Machinesmith in cyberspace, and their banter was quite interesting, and it shows how smart Shuri is.
The artwork seems to be getting better with every issue. Maybe it is because the blocky line is better suited to cyberspace, which in my mind is very blocky and chunky. Since the majority of this issue was set in cyberspace, everything has more of a green tone, as we all seem to associate green with computing, thank you ‘The Matrix’.
This issue is so far been the best and has made me a lot more interested in how things are going to pan out from here on in.
Short BD about the Black Panther and his young scientists against a virtual enemy that uses something like a "mind web" they had created for good for his evil plans to control the world. Each Episode is focused on some kind of plan that makes him question what is perfection and if it's achievable. I don't get the point of the story. It seem to not move forward after a bunch of episodes, so I don't really recommend. The only good point are the drawings, and even those, I've seen better.
Each one seems to get better. I really like the conversation of perfection. This series discusses fears that many have about technology, the human condition and the act of failing. The art I beautifully done and the characters are memorable. As I stated in my review of SOTM 2 Machinesmith is a interesting and intriguing villian.
Then this is the greatest comic book of all time. If you believe the Lexus coupe is the greatest super hero of all time with the power to save an entire African nation then this book is for you!
This whole series is just a big online advertisement for Lexus. The product placement is not obtrusive, but the dialogue of the previous chapters was tedious and a chore to read.
Great storyline and awesome illustrations. Sort of a return to The Matrix or TRON. Just a little too much commercial advertisement at the end of this segment.
