This was great and I enjoy books by Dr. Yang Jwing-ming because of their attention to detail and vast knowledge. I read this when I was in high school and reread it. This book presents the fundamentals for Northern style kung fu. Dr. Yang as usual does an outstanding job of presenting the information clearly and effectively. The book was originally published in 1981 and some of the pictures are not advanced like you see in his more recent publications but still are resourceful.
I like this book because it gives a history of martial arts and gets into the ground work for Shaolin Long Fist Kung Fu. The book does a great job at demonstrating stretches, warm-up drills, strikes and kicks. The basic form/set Lien Bu Quan is broken down step-by-step. For anyone serious in learning this, you can find it demonstrated by Dr. Yang Jwing-ming on Youtube.
This book is great and can be used by a beginner. Even an intermediate practitioner can benefit from this book as it contains a wealth of information. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a good starting point in Chinese kung fu or Northern style kung fu. Thanks!
An interesting book on Shaolin Long Fist Kung fu. One of the more interesting books on the market at the time of its publication. It looked like an interesting style, but I chose Wing Chun instead. As a bonus, a set of videos are available to use along with the book.
I think this is a good book But is there any books to learn the snake fist or the leopard ?? theres no kungfu teaching here in the philippines but i really want to learn it, not just for fighting but to improve my lifestyle
