Jim Shepherd had always known the EMP was coming. For years his father had warned him that someone would eventually push the button and plunge the US into the darkness. He thought he was prepared for the chaos to come.
He was wrong.
Abi Ross had no idea when she boarded her train from D.C. to Charlotte that her July 4th was about to go off the rails. She had no clue that she'd soon find herself stranded in rural Virginia, injured and alone, awaiting a rescue that would never come.
Could you survive with nothing but the contents of your pockets?
When the lights flicker out for the last time Jim and Abi need to discover if they have what it takes to survive, stripped of the bubble wrap and cotton wool of modern society. How far will they go to keep breathing? Who will they save? Who will they leave behind?
And what will they do when they learn that the attack has only just begun?
PULSE is the opening novel of the Little Rocket Man series, a thrilling tale of survival against a very real enemy the United States is woefully ill-prepared to face.
Keith Taylor is the true identity of the million plus selling author behind the pen names Aya Fukunishi and K A Taylor, who toiled for years writing bizarrely popular romance novels while he secretly longed to return to his true calling: explosively awesome post-apocalyptic fiction.
Keith hails from the rainy suburbs of Manchester in the north of England. He lives with his wife, Otgontsetseg, and splits his time between Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and Bangkok, Thailand. He survives on a diet of meat, cheese, beer and cigarettes, and he probably shouldn't still be alive.
As I read this I keep seeing President Trump's speech yesterday morning while he was in South Korea. The whole book seems so real. Even a seasoned prepper---how do they deal with this?
Keith Taylor. Great job bringing today's events to my fingertips and creating havoc in my mind. I am so ready for book 2.
The premise and plot were pretty good though there were writing issues that could have used an editor. I actually didn't like Shep much, though. He is a community leader but sneaks out of town thinking the rest are going to die anyway. What a jerk. He does end up going back but I sure would not trust him. I also don't really think enemy troops would pick a small, rural town to storm so soon after the event. They would surely try to get control of the major cities.
I was enjoying the story, reaching what I thought would be about midpoint, when the book suddenly ended. Boom, over. I can't even call it a cliffhanger, it was so abrupt. It started out well, the characters were well defined, but the sudden end and lack of any resolution whatsoever annoyed me so much that even if I received the next book for free I doubt that I would read it. Results: this piece of a book could have been worth reading, but it isn't.
Probably the most accurate theory of an emp on American soil. Do we really know what's going on in our world? Could we survive? This is something we all need to think about. I enjoyed the authors characters & the small town feel of willow springs. I'm sure the next will be as exciting...😊
Pulse had me right off the bat. The folks involved are all different but likable characters in their own ways. Good plot but ends where things are just getting exciting.
Every American should wake up and convince themselves that we are around the corner for an EMP event This story is an eye opener and I can’t wait for the plot to continue Fast read
Good apocalyptic fiction story. The characters are likeable. The story moves quickly and makes you want to keep reading to see what happens. My only complaint is that it's hard to believe many would turn into monsters the very first day.
A pretty decent book in this genre which I have thoroughly enjoyed. The description of an EMP weapon effect is very accurate. I have the next book in my library and am looking forward to reading it very soon.
I guess this must be a good, well written, exciting book! ! Since I have read it twice! And the bad language. Isnty there. Believe it or not, the story doesn't suffer for the lack of it. The people therein find a way to help each other. And I'll probably read it a third time. The author has write a unique story. Thanks!
