My name is Mike Raven. I hunt monsters. But now I am a monster.
That’s what happens when you make a pact with a demon.
My partner, my ex-girlfriend, and an elite commando unit of Vatican Exorcists want to lock me up in an asylum for the terminally possessed—but they’ll have to catch me first. Making matters worse, a new enemy threatens the Cursed City. A ghoul plans to unleash a black magic plague on my city, and I’m the only one standing in the creature’s way.
How am I supposed to save the world when it has turned against me?
Mike finds himself on the run from friend and fiend alike, while still attempting to protect the city. Throw in an acid trip of a graveyard and a localized cataclysm, and he's in over his head again. Will his new demon co-pilot help navigate through the problems, or just make them worse. I've come to really enjoy this series. Looking forward to Witch Wars.
I was expecting this story to be mediocre, a sappy romance like so many others. I was so wrong! This was so worth the read, great characters and plot. I am now going to look for other stories written by this author. :)
Great book in a great series! If you like suspense, action, and mystery all wrapped up with paranormal, you will love this series! Can hardly wait for book 7 to come out!
I loved this book as well as the series. Raven has the demon in him. They have to go to a an old cemetery to find and rescue a girl that a ghoul kidnapped. I can't wait for the next book now.
I love this series. It just gets better and better, and the bar started pretty high. I can't get enough. I devoured this and dreaded the end. I can think of no higher praise or recommendation.
I can't wait for more.
The series seems to be getting darker, and it started off pretty grim. Now everyone is out to get Our Hero, which means finding people he can trust not to 'do the right thing' is pretty difficult. Plus, when you tell them there's a bigger badder Big Bad out there than you, people tend to think you're just stalling. Or projecting.
I don't know what Raven's passenger demon has in store for him in the future, or whether he can be trusted, or even whether Raven can be trusted to be a reliable narrator. He's hardly unbiased after all. But what I do know is that I'm thoroughly enjoying the ride.
Ghoul Night is an interesting book written by William Massa. This author always comes up with an imaginative plot that keeps you glued to the pages. The plot is action packed and there is always something happening, making it feel faster paced although it really isn’t. There are some nice twists that make you wonder how Raven will make it out of this situation but since he is our hero we have a good guess that somehow he will, although sometimes it isn’t really pretty. This is one of the reasons why I like this series, things don’t go smoothly and there are sometimes sacrifices that you just don’t expect would happen.
I am curious to see what will happen next in this series and thanks to kindle unlimited I don’t have to wait long.
I almost didn't read this book because while I had been enjoying the books in the series, the previous book to this one, Skull Master, wasn't really good at all and I had feared further books would continue down the same path. Luckily I gave this book a shot because it was back to being more like the earlier books in the series and a lot more enjoyable. I like where the story went with Mike and Cyon, the ghoul and his plans were more of what I'd come to expect in these novels and the cliffhang at the end has me gearing up for the next book.
Really loving this. Once you get over the relative shortness and, depending on your point of view, some ludicrosity, it's well written, and thoroughly absorbing. Not one you'd want to read as a stand alone - there's too much going on across the series but I love that as it leaves you wanting to pick up the next in line.
Raven is on his own, well apart from the demon, he co-exists with! Another action packed story that see's Raven fighting a Ghoul set on changing the world & former allies, who think he is now the danger. Series keeps delivering, looking forward to the next one.
Mike learns more about his demon powers and the benefits of being "a monster hunting monsters." He also learns what his new "classification" effects his personal relationships. Of course, as always, there is a "crime of the month" to solve, too.
Magic , a ghoul on a mission , a helpless female . Pretty scary situation . The Vatican exorcist and Archer come looking for Raven . A witch coven is in town , but why? And they all end up together fighting zombies .
Another fast paced and enjoyable story in the Shadow Detective series. There is not a great deal of depth in these stories and will never be in the “award winning” category but they are fun to read and are easy page turners.
Great plot and finale. The author has achieved a great series of Raven adventures. Every book leave graving for more. Excellent. Supernatural fans will love it. Its a must.
The Shadow Detective series keeps providing the thrills and fright I have come to rely on. The situation of Mike Raven is getting tougher and tougher and his will is thoroughly tested. Another great and creepy adventure full of action, horror and solid storytelling. The writing is, again, very clean, easy-to-read and engaging. My go-to series when I found myself in limbo regarding what should I read next.
Another great book in the Cursed City by William Massa. This one filled with enough action to keep the pages turning. Amazingly he continues to keep the storyline rushing forward without forgetting to developed the character of Raven and his symbiotic relationship with the demon Cyon. Looking forward to seeing where the story goes from here.
