G.A. was born in Muncie, Indiana. Started life in a rural area. Some of her fondest memories are of helping her parents with a family garden and canning corn at an early age. Times changed and work took her family to Ohio. She spent her school years in Ohio, growing up and marrying the love of her life, a local boy. G.A. lives in a rural area, near Cincinnati, and has three adult daughters and one son, each with families of their own. She’s loved reading and story-telling since she was a young girl. Some of her favorite teachers are those that did "story time" by reading out loud each day from various and wonderful books. She has a varied love of books, adventure, history, paranormal, mystery, and yes...romance. One of her early favorites was a book by Katherine E. Woodwiss, The Wolf and the Dove (no it's not a shifter). She was hooked on romance after that book. Later she fell in love with Christine Feehan's Dark series. She’s a true fan of many writers: Eddings, Koontz, Kenyon, and of course her bestie Jacqueline Rhoades. The list could fill up volumes, as most bookaholics can attest. Grandchildren and life still keep her pretty busy, but now she’s loving the fun of putting her stories into books. G.A. loves to talk and chat on Facebook (GA Hurst, author), sharing pictures and fun. You can often find her there or on her website, or email her at gahurstauthor@gmail.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GA-Hurst-168... I love this series. It's like a slice of life tale set in a dystopian future with shifters. What else could you ask for??
Blaez and Miranda don't actually meet till about 1/3 into the story, but I didn't mind. They have vague dreams about each other, and it is destiny. The story follows different groups of people and shifters as they go out and explore what's left of the earthquake-ravaged landscape. The author creates interesting characters and delves into the nature of being a shifter. What is it like communicating with a wolf? It even gets a bit into wolfy mysticism when one of the shifters is gravely injured. There's not really a plot but a journey and you are never sure what will happen and where there will be conflict.
Like the first book, there are bad guys, and the ending leaves room for conflict in the next book. (Or rather the one after that, as I think the next book will be kind of a prequel that will answer some of our questions about just how the world was devastated).
Blaze The Reluctant Alpha is the second book in the seriesbut can totally be read as a standalone. The backstory in this book is extremely detailed and extensive. I found the beginning of the book a little monotonous and slow but necessary for the story that followed. Blaze and his group of Shifter's with a few humans set off to explore the post disaster world they live in. At the same time Dorian and Victor set off with their bunch of Shifter's from another area to explore as well this group includes Miranda the Alpha's daughter. As the story continues we find out that Blaze and Miranda are mates. This book is extremely well written and entices the reader to continue to keep reading to the conclusion. It is not a quick read but very compelling. The author has taken on the task of telling of the rebuilding of the world with human and shifter working together.
The Reluctant Alpha was a great read with a lot of world building, detailed descriptions, exciting action and steamy passion. There is enough backstory given so that this book can be read as a standalone. The shifters continue to search for other groups and are rewarded with success as they come across the human community of Iron Mountain. The HFN ending promises so much more story ahead, and I foresee a long and satisfying series. I received a free copy of the book from the author.
Very detailed. Starts with lots of information. Lots of adventure and suspenseful scenes. I love reading a book you can picture in your head. I felt that the characters were part of my family. Looking forward to the next book... Pam James.
Blaez is the second addition to the series the world of shifters... I thoroughly enjoyed it , I found it hard to put down. It is so well detailed that I didn't find it difficult to imagine ... It was so good to see new characters added to the series and I was enthralled with this novel its the story of Blaez and Miranda' finding each other in a world that's been destroyed . Shifters and both human working together to form a better life . Definitely worth the read . Do your self a favour and grab a copy , looking forward to the next instalment ,

REVIEW: BLAEZ: The Reluctant Alpha is the second instalment in G.A. Hurst’s adult World of Shifters paranormal, dystopian romance series. This is alpha wolf shifters Blaez and Miranda’s story line. BLAEZ: The Reluctant Alpha can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
SOME BACKGROUND: Twenty years earlier, a catastrophic natural disaster destroyed most of mankind and the infrastructures where they lived and worked. As the few remaining people begin to emerge into the post-apocalyptic world, the shifters begin to realize that to live they will have to join together with their human counterparts in an effort to survive.
Told from several third person points of view including Blaez and Miranda BLAEZ: The Reluctant Alpha focuses on two struggling Packs of shifter wolves as they set out on a cross country journey in search of survivors, and the possibility of finding more of their kind. From opposite sides, the Packs and their human counterparts will meet reuniting families with missing loved ones, and the merging of a potential new Pack as Blaez will meet his fated mate-a woman who has starred in his fantasies and dreams. What ensues is the quick building, love and relationship between Blaez and Miranda, and the potential fall out when both Packs are pulled into a former government compound run and operated by a number of humans who have no knowledge of the supernatural existence- an existence that will be threatened by betrayal and revenge.
The relationship between Miranda and Blaez is one of insta-love. Both wolf-born shifters, our couple are aware of the shifter history, and the need and devotion to find the one that calls to their souls. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
BLAEZ has an extremely large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters from two shifter Packs, and the former government compound now housing over one hundred human survivors. Gage and Rissa (Heart of an Alpha #1), along with Rissa’s father Henry are reintroduced; there is a building relationship and possible new mating between wolf shifter Mercer, and human female Maxi.
BLAEZ is a slow building story line that struggles with telling rather than showing: as well as the propensity for redundancy and retelling of recent events. The story line bounces between two shifter Packs whose membership is large, and at times I found myself confused as to the who, what and where. Once the two Packs merged together there was more confusion as many of the shifters were related or friends-the problem, in my opinion, is too many characters thus leading to distraction and chaos throughout the story.
BLAEZ is an interesting and curious story line; a journey of discovery for fated mates whose lives will be enriched with their new found love- but - BLAEZ is also a story line that meanders in too many directions and got lost in the copious number of characters who appear in limited scenes for a singular or limited purpose. You may need a spread sheet to keep everyone in line. ;)
This is the second book in this series you do not need to read the first one the author fills in the details nicely so you will not feel lost. However the first book is really good and you might want to pick it up for a read. The planet as we know it is over there has been mast destruction only the strongest will survive. It is more of a free world back before computers etc when life was simpler but harder. The shifters have come out of hiding they are the stronger force and live more open.
Miranda is strong as well as headstrong she needs a strong male to make her life more meaningful. Blaez is the alpha male and needs a strong women someone who can keep up with him but isn’t afraid to stand her ground. Both are sifters searching for their true mate but up until now have not found their other half. Their packs set across the country trying to find more like their selves as well has helping those even humans they come across. This is a passionate story with some very hot steamy scenes that will turn the heat up as the author takes you on a journey of betrayal and revenge as humans get in the mix there is danger all around.
The author brings back characters from the last book it was so nice to see them again. To me they felt like family and I just loved seeing how they were and what was new. The question is can humans and shifters live together and build a happy life or will they end up with more destruction! There are hints at what the next book might be about maybe even a human and shifter mating…that is very interesting.
I really enjoy where the author is taking this, it is very interesting and keeps the reader entertained with a lot going on at times it can be a little confusing but so worth the read. I loved the buildup of adventure, the danger and how it all works out. I enjoyed the romance, passion and excitement as the mates find each other. The suspense just about killed me as well as the action it was just so exciting I couldn’t put the book down. I really can’t wait until the next one comes out. This series has been a wonderful delight from a new author who is fast becoming one of my favorite. *********************
This is Book 2 in the World of Shifters series. I loved the first book in the series and this is even better. The world has changed and the shifters don’t have to hide anymore. They have come out to the humans and they are all working together to rebuild their lives. Blaez takes a group to explore the outside world. As they travel, he dreams of a woman who is his mate. Miranda along with her brothers and some others leave their home to explore, hoping to meet up with others. As the two groups go out, they head towards each other. There is so much going on in this book as the two groups end up together. There’s danger, exciting new discoveries and love. What more can you ask for in one book? I really enjoy reading this series and can’t wait for the next book. It just keeps getting better with each book.
This is the second book in the series but it can be read as a stand alone, the author does a great job of catching the reader up where needed. If you like shifters and post apocalyptic worlds then you'll love this book. The world is a different place now and shifters are no longer in hiding. They are working with humans to try and rebuild what they can. Miranda and her brothers start to explore, hoping to run into others. They eventually run into the shifters and Blaez and Miranda are mates!!!! However, just like everywhere, during every time there is evil everywhere. This book is full of action, adventure, and suspense. I love that it combines 2 of my favorite genres together. Looking forward to more in this series.
The earth has changed greatly but survivors are finding each other. Some of those are wolf shifters and the others are human but the bond that they have are getting stronger each day, especially with those finding new mates. G. A. Hurst has done it again with a non-stop book with love, lust, faithfulness , understanding and show much more. Some learning more about themselves and others, some causing for both the humans and shifters. I had to put the book down at times but I was immediately picked it up the moment I had time to read more. I still want to read more of the World of Shifters, I can't wait to read the next one
The love so many things about this story. Blaez and Miranda are each dreaming of their mates are finally close enough to communicate and find each other. Mercer has a near-death experience and becomes a better male. The explorers find other survivors, as well as long-lost family members are reunited. I love how the shifters are no longer hiding as they explore, help humans, and start to rebuild the world. I am anxious for more in this series and I highly recommend it.
More survive are out there and Miranda finds her mate in another shifter pack out exploring. This 2nd book shows how much life has changed as Shifters and humans come together
Blaez has decided to go traveling to see if he can find other packs. Miranda is an alpha female traveling as well with her brothers and other packmates. As luck would have it, their groups meet along the way.
DNF 48% I’m bored. I actually like slice of life type of stories but maybe these characters aren’t interesting enough? Or maybe their mating was too simple? I don’t know..
Received a free copy of this book from the author.
Blaez is 2nd in the series and was written that it could be read as a stand alone but you would probably want to read book 1 to have all the information. I think I liked book 1 more. This moved a little slow for me especially in the beginning. It wasn't a quick meet for Miranda and Blaez. They didnt even meet until about 40% in. It was instant love but thats pretty consistent with mates. I liked the book but again the first was better for me. More exciting.
