Belinda's book starts out with the story of her life thus far, particularly her journey having been born very psychic and how that affected her while growing up and into her adult years. It's a very unique, interesting and moving story. If you're like me, you very well may find yourself relating to different aspects of her story, and finding comfort and more understanding in who you are as a person. Learning about Belinda's purpose and why she had to go through her struggles, helped me to see why I too have to go through my own struggles to learn what I have to learn and be the person I'm meant to be. In the second part of Belinda's book, you'll read about her recommended spiritual practices, working with the chakras, the white light, and mindfulness. Working with these practices will completely change your energy and change your life! If you find yourself at all skeptical, just have a read and give it a try. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
This is a difficult book to review. I should also preface this by saying that "From Dark to Light" is not for the close-minded. The concepts are a little out-there. I think Belinda's goal is to help everyone heal themselves and that is a noble cause. However, I'm not sure that the general public is ready to swallow her methods (at least at this moment in time).
I have seen a few educational videos Belinda Davidson has provided on her website and I really connected with her as a person. I resonated with what she was saying and she struck me as authentic. Unfortunately, I am not sure that this translates to her novel, "From Dark to Light." The autobiographical portion was interesting to read about, but I had trouble reconciling Belinda from the videos with Belinda the writer. Her passion and zest for life were not as apparent here. The anecdotes she featured as examples were useful, but I think I was hoping for greater development. Finally, I wish that the practical portion of the novel was more extensive because that is ultimately why I picked up her book and I was disappointed that this aspect was lacking. On an unrelated note, Belinda Davidson does not claim to have come up with the idea of chakras on her own, but she also fails to credit their Eastern origins which bothered me.
Overall, I like Belinda Davidson's message and I plan on incorporating her chakra meditation into my daily routine. That, rather than the writing is the reason for my 4 star rating. However, I am reserving some judgement which is contingent upon the effectiveness of her advice. I may be open to mysticism, but I retain a healthy sense of skepticism.
I really loved this book. The memoir part is really vulnerable and raw. It was also interesting to hear Belinda's take on chakras and how she uses her own intuition about them. I've had my own experiences with her White Light readings so putting all of this together in a book was so fun to read!
Fascinating! For anyone already interested in the woo-woo realm, this is a fun read-- one part page-turning memoir, and one part "how-to" about working with chakras.
I really enjoyed the author’s personal story. The first part of the book captivated me. The rest of the book felt a bit more weak. I appreciate her viewpoint on clearing the chakras but feel perhaps it’s more opinion than truth. I think what she presents can truly help but I felt like it was presented as the only way for our collective future evolution. That said, I appreciated the case studies and organized approach to understanding the chakras.
