Yeah, well. I’ve got a saying too: no thanks. The last thing I need is baby makes three. My business is expanding and the only thing I’m interested in getting knocked up is my bottom line.
But then one night Emma Haverford makes me an offer I can’t refuse—she backs away from the land I have my eye on in exchange for a favor…
A big, fat, baby making favor…

“So, is that how I make you feel, Blondie? Relaxed?” “No, you don’t make me relaxed. You make me hungry. And wild. Maybe a little crazy.”
If there is one thing I have come to expect from Lili Valente, it’s a book that mixes humor with heart and happy-endings. A book in which laugh-out-loud moments flirt with silliness, sweetness and sexiness but always have a hint of something deeper. And that’s exactly what she delivers in The Baby Maker.
I loved every page of this book. Honestly, I can’t decide if I liked the initial biting banter more, or the playful banter that *ahem* came later. Just like I can’t decide if I liked the oh, so sexy times more than the sweet, heart-warming moments.
But you know what? I don’t need to decide. Ms. Valente is so adept at making every moment unique and fun, that it’s only fair I love them all equally, if for different reasons. Kind of like my kids, actually . . .
Linked and similar but different and wonderful. Lovable all on their own but even more perfect together. That’s what the words and feelings and chapters and moments in The Baby Maker are—a book that delivers everything I’ve come to expect from this author (and maybe even a little bit more.)
He kisses me like he’s been lost, and only now that he’s back in my arms is he found. He kisses me like I’m the answer and the question and every magical step of the journey in between.
The Baby Maker is Lili Valente's newest sexy standalone. It's no secret how much I love Lili and her books. She always gives me what I want! Sexy, funny, silly characters who steal my heart. What's a strong, independent woman who wants a baby to do? Ask her sexy, farmer neighbor for a few months of fun. What can go wrong? Emma wants a baby and Dylan is the perfect specimen. Only thing is he can't stand her. Or so she thinks. When she gets up the courage to ask him, he doesn't instantly say yes. Dylan thinks Emma is hot as hell. But can he walk away from his own child? She's offering him the one thing he needs. Land to grow his business. But after one taste of Emma he can't walk away. And after the next time, it's even harder to walk away. How much harder will it be after a few months? I loved Dylan! I loved that he's a real man who doesn't have a hard time admitting how he feels. Telling Emma what he wants. Asking for more. It was a nice change of pace to watch the man chase the woman! Emma has her reasons and I love her for them. She's strong, smart and determined. But she's no match for sexy as sin Dylan and his sexy hair and dirty mouth. Together they have sizzling chemistry and hilarious banter!
"I'm so sorry. It's the oysters. They overpowered me. I couldn’t help myself." "The oysters, huh? My irresistible sex vibe had nothing to do with it?"
I've been following Dylan's movements like a chocoholic tracking the last dark chocolate truffle at the party.
I don't want to stop, I want to go and keep going until there is no part of this woman that's a mystery to me.
Emma and Dylan have this attraction, but also they have this BIG thing that puts them on opposite sides of the fence so to speak...the grape fence...LOL. These two have the funniest banter and it make me chuckle on more then one occasion. Emma asks Dylan for a pretty big ask and she kind of had to be brave and courageous. This was a cute story and I think that Dylan's family life had a lot to do with how he handled Emma's big ask. Anywho...this is a must read.
Ohmygosh you guys. This book was an absolute delight! This is only the second book I've read by Ms. Valente, but if they all make me feel this giddy, she may have just gained a new superfan!
I adored Emma and Dylan. I connected with this story immediately - possibly because I saw a bit of myself in Emma (note: uh, not the asking a virtual stranger to knock me up part) - but I think because it's just written in such an engaging, honest way that it was impossible to not get sucked right into it.
This is a super short book, and I sometimes have trouble connecting when books are short because I feel like things move too quickly. Not the case here. It's a quick, easy read - but I loved these characters hard and was completely charmed by their easy banter, adorable budding relationship, and the sweetness that lives within both of these fabulous characters.
The Baby Maker is relatively low angst, packed with a fair share of steamy moments, and enough swoons that my heart is still fluttering over Dylan Hunter. Like I said, it was just a complete delight and I loved every minute! ~ Shelly, 4.5 Stars

Who's looking for a quick and dirty, super fun, swoon worthy romance? Look no further than The Baby Maker. I devoured Emma and Dylan's story in just a few hours and loved every second.
Dylan's the caretaker of his family--the peacemaker, the pleaser, the one that is relied upon to keep the farm and family afloat. He's all business with no time or interest in anything that looks like a relationship, until he meets Emma. Gorgeous, smart, sexy Emma. And then all bets are off.
Emma's making a new start. She's left behind an insanely busy and lucrative career to chase the dream she never knew she had--running her own vineyard. But she's also looking to achieve her dream of having a child, and she's set her eyes on Dylan to help make it happen. Three months of crazy monkey sex and then they'll part ways. Sounds easy, right?
Easy until the heart becomes involved. And what the heart wants the heart gets.
I loved watching Dylan and Emma fall in love--even though they were in deep denial. Their relationship was relatively effortless and low on angst. It was sexy, smart and satisfying! Adding in the antics of Dylan's brothers and The Baby Maker was just a perfect read for a cold Sunday morning. ~ Missy, 4.5 stars
No one writes contemporary romance quite like Lili Valente and this book is a perfect example of that.
Emma Haverford leaves behind the fast past life of Silicone Valley for a more laid back and relaxed lifestyle in wine country. She knew running her own vineyard would be hard work but that's what she needs to take her mind off of her failed engagement. What she didn't count on was her hotter than sin neighbor, who just happens to have a bone to pick with her.
Dylan Hunter has spent his whole life trying to take care of others and make sure that his family is looked after. His only interest is expanded his property so that he can open his own brewery and the one person standing in his way is Emma Haverford. It would be easy to hate her if she wasn't so sweet, innocent and god damn lovable. So when she comes to him with an offer that may give him the land he wants he has a hard time turning her down.
I loved everything about these two and watching them come together is heart warming. If you're in the mood for a feel good romance you will love this book.
I probably should have enjoyed this one more than I did. I realized while I was reading it that I just do not like this type of setup. The heroine came across way too desperate and the hero was fine impregnating the heroine for a piece of land as long as she moved away so he wouldn't have to see the kid. Out of sight out of mind and all that. It just rubbed me the wrong way. Add in it was also an older woman/younger man trope and ya...Maybe I am in a grumpy mood...who knows.
~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~ I enjoyed the writing in this one quite a bit. The author has an easy flow to her writing. The pace was good, and I never felt the need to skim. It was a fairly quick read and quite humorous. The plot even though not really my cup of tea and a tad predictable was still engaging. The ending was very sweet as well. We get two epilogues. The second of which set up Rafe and Carrie's book. A book I honestly have no interest in reading as I didn't particularly like Rafe in this book and we get to hear all about his sexcapades with an OW. So again, not my cup of tea.
~HERO~ Dylan...I liked him OK. He was 31. Sweet. Not a manwhore. Honestly, there just wasn't anything that WOWED me about him. He was basically just a nice guy who needed to stop sending mixed messages and communicate better.
~HEROINE~ Emma...as with Dylan she was an OK character. She was 34. She came off way too desperate at first (the whole librarian seduction scene made me cringe in embarrassment). But she seemed to be a decent person who like Dylan needed to stop with the mixed messages and have a conversation.
~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~ There was a nice array of secondary characters in this one. Mostly consisting of Dylan's family and Emma's sister. I liked Dylan's Dad and his brother Tristan. Who I didn't particularly like was Rafe. He was a bit of an a$$ in my opinion and I could have done without the whole monologue about his sexcapades with Chasity. Especially since the next book is about him and Carrie (Emma's sister). To that end, I really liked Carrie in this book but the brief look we get of her and Rafe at the end kind of turned me off her character as well.
~HEAT LEVEL~ Medium. There were some decently hot scenes in this one and the frequency was pretty high. I didn't feel they overshadowed the story though. I also thought this couple had some good on page chemistry.
~ANGST LEVEL~ Low. I didn't find this one angsty in the least. Sure there are some misunderstandings that would have been cleared up if these two supposed grown adults had a conversation (I know, I know, then there wouldn't have been a book) but it was a pretty easy peasy insta-lust type of story. There was also no OW drama or OM drama. Dylan wasn't a manwhore (a year celibate if I remember correctly). Emma hadn't had sex in eight months(?).
~IN THE END~ It wasn't a BAD book. I am sure many readers will love it and rightfully so. It just turned out to not be my cup of tea. As I mentioned above this book made me realize that I just do not like the whole "I am so desperate for a baby I am going to ask a total stranger because he is "hot" to father mine" scenario. Plus when I signed up I didn't realize this was another younger man/older woman book. The age difference wasn't huge, but it still took away from my enjoyment some. But like always this is just MY opinion so that for what it's worth.
Very likeable and sweet hero, not a manwhore! Nice heroine, not a doormat! But her cougar jokes… *facepalm*. She was only 4 years older than him. And? Why was it wrong? I hate the term ‘cougar’ *ugh*
Did I miss their talk about STD status???
Sweet epilogue.
I will probably read the next book. The H’s a huge manwhore, but the h sounds cool. Let’s see ;-)
I loved this one. I giggled and chuckled and laughed out loud throughout the entire book. The romance between Emma Haverford and Dylan Hunter was so sizzling, my fingers were burning just flipping the pages, not to mention my unmentionables. 🥵
However, in between the spicy scenes was some great character development, a good story about two people getting to know each other and falling in love and a lot of baby making innuendo and hilarious jokes. I have already put the next three books (Dylan’s brothers stories) on my to be read list.
I highly recommend this book. I loved the humor and the romance. Dylan turned out to be quite a sweet guy and a great boyfriend. I wish the other books were on KU, so I could read them rightly now, but I just spent my monthly allotment on books I wanted so I have to wait until I pay some actual bills. 🤮
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
I am never disappointed when i open a book by this author. I am always getting what i want to read. A fun sexy book that keeps me captivated and hooked until i discover that the book has finished, upon where i weep that the book has already finished.
Hunter begins as a grouchy farmer, but very quickly turns into a very sexy, heartwarming male specimen who you won't fail to want as your next book boyfriend. Emma is a strong woman who knows what she wants and sets out to get it, and what she wants is a baby. Hunter just happens to tick all her boxes.
This book is so good that i only put it down once before i finished it. You get a little heartache, but it is generally a feel good book that you will want to put on your re-read shelf immediately.
We get a snippet of an idea of who is going to star in the next book The Troublemaker. It will be Hunters brother Rafe and Emma's sister Carrie. I really hope that Tristan also gets a book and there are even more books in this series. I LOVE this author and her books.
Dylan Hunter, 31, has his hands full salvaging his family’s farm, looking after his nephews, and trying to build a life of his own. The last thing he thinks he needs is a baby making job with the determined new neighbor.
Emma Haverford, 34, has left the fast city and career life along with a cheating ex-fiancé behind in Silicon Valley to purse a less stressful existence in the vineyards. The change is suiting her, but there’s still one thing her heart desires.
First things first because this is one of the biggest things that impressed me about this story and this type of premise—a complicated situation is handled well and while neither party is perfect, they both behave maturely. There are plenty of smutty tales in the romance market that incorporate baby-making or breeding—the misogynist notion of using conception as a means of control where the so-called hero makes a rash decision in the middle of sex to stake a claim. Thankfully this is not one of them. It’s also not a tale of a heroine trying to trap the hero to get the whole baby and baby-daddy package. Both the hero and the heroine are depicted thinking things out, rationalizing their decision, alongside consulting the advice of medical professionals and trusted family members in efforts to make an informed decision about a situation that isn’t ideal or either of their first choices. I applaud the author for tackling a more modern dilemma in a thought-out and respectful manner rather than to throw out a load of archaic modes of thinking and call it romance. The difference is a story that actually is romantic and hotter because the main characters are developed and shown falling in love rather than espousing insta-love.
“‘If I don’t stop soon, I’m going to take you right here….On the ground, in the dirt. It’s been a long time for me, Blondie.’”
Dylan had a good head on his shoulders, and even though he didn’t think he was ready for fatherhood, it was clear he was a great catch. I appreciated how he stressed them getting to know each other and how his monologues revealed how he was falling in love.
“Mental scrapbooking of orgasms is a classic warning sign that love is right around the corner.”
Emma was a strong and independent female character. I admired how she held firm to her goals. I didn’t find her desperate; simply that she knew what she wanted and when she saw an opportunity with a man she was strongly attracted to, went after it. I respected the fact that she choose Dylan for the good qualities she saw in him and the hope that her child would have those same genes rather than utilizing a sperm bank, an option that she does keep open. While a little more communication between them would have gone a long way, it wasn’t unrealistic given the short time they’d known each other and their original arrangement. And the story still stayed pleasingly low angst.
Told via Dylan and Emma’s first person POV, the pair had good chemistry. I found them both likable from the start, and the story easy to get into from the opening. By the end, I was swooning over Dylan. All in all, it’s a very sweet, feel-good romance. The next book, The Troublemaker, features Dylan’s half brother Rafe and Emma’s sister Carrie. The intro to their book that is included has me intrigued. I’m not usually a fan of the manwhore hero, but Carrie looks like a formidable match so as long as it’s safe (fingers crossed), I’ll give it a go. I hope at least one of the twins gets a book at some point too.

*I volunteered to review this ARC. All reviews written by Book-Bosomed Book Blog are honest opinions. In the interest of providing unbiased book reviews and to avoid misleading other readers, it is the blog’s policy not to withhold or delay any reviews no matter the star rating. To the best of my knowledge, this title was presented to the blog without any conditions or stipulations.
This was my first read by Lili Valenti. I read her co-authored book with Lauren Blakely and really wanted to read more afterward. I love finding new to me authors who deliver a particular trope that I love and that's exactly what I got from The Baby Maker. I adore all things baby! While the trope is commons, I felt the story was unique and quite entertaining.
Here are the basics: A city slicker/former tech gure moves to the countryside to run a winery. She's smart, determined, and hard-working. While her winery is doing well, she starts to feel her biological clock ticking. She decides to aske her neighbor for help getting her pregnant. That was certainly an entertaining conversation. What happens after is even more entertaining...
Here's what I loved: Stay with me here, things might get confusing. I really enjoyed the writing, but not 100% throughout. I had minor issues during the intimate moments. For whatever reason, I wasn't really keen on the dialogue during the steamier bits. Dylan's dialogue was too flowery. He's such a manly and virile man, so the uber romantic and flowery language threw me a bit. Conversely, I loved him bring sweet and romantic outside the bed. This is purely personal preference. Aside from that, the novel is really good. I really enjoyed it. The story is great, the secondary characters are funny , and the ending was super cute! Recommended!
4 Realizing Your Wish Stars * * * * Spoiler Free-Limited Time FREE!!! Lili Valente has a fertile imagination and in this book she really uses it to its full concept...No, I hadn't intended to reference all those links to the Title and Idea of the book... It just happened that way...
This tale has Emma, a woman who has realized what was important to her... She left the rat race of nonstop hours and stress of the Silicone Valley for developing her own winery. She had the means and took the college courses to back up her new venture. She relocated from the Big City and was where she wanted to be.
There was only one thing missing from her dream...A Baby...
She had been in a relationship which seemed to be The One... and she had been trying to conceive but nothing was working.
Good Thing as it turns out the Ex was getting it on with the assistant and Now the assistant is knocked up. Great...
But Emma has moved on from the ex and really is determined to have the love she wants and wants to give...She just really doesn't want to do the donor thing...not knowing who those people are doesn't put her mind at ease.
Emma is at the local bar's restroom and overhears something which gets her mind reeling...It seems the man who has been front and center in her daydreams and unfortunately sex dreams...comes from a family who has been known to have an unusual ability...When she hears these women go on and on about these Hunter men... a seed is planted and she cannot get it out of her head...
Dylan is a man who has a real love of the land. He may bitch and moan about being up early and making all of the chores done before most of us are even awake... but deep down in his soul... he loves what he does, loves his brothers, and even loves his cranky, flawed father.
It was that flawed father who had two families at the same time due to his love of women...that laid the groundwork for Dylan's aversion to the idea of being a family man. He was the son of the mother who was not married to the dad... and when this mother decided she had enough... she dropped Dylan at his father's land and never came back. His dad took him in and this eventually caused the wife to leave...
Now the good thing about all of this was Dylan was loved by his dad and grew up having brothers. The not-so-great thing was the way his dad was the man who just enjoyed being with women and continued to do so. This firmly directed Dylan to the conclusion not to do that himself...and he has been careful all of his adult life...Wrap it up, have some fun when wanted, and no relationships period.
Emma and Dylan are about to butt more than heads... It seems there is property both of them want and Dylan is determined to fight for it. His intentions of why are honorable...his father has not forgiven him for stripping the diseased vines and swiping out them out for hops. It was the only way to save their business and the father wishes to grow grapes again. Dylan wants to appease the dad and also break out on his own. By doing this land deal... he sees away...
But this woman...She is all he sees... her cascading hair, hourglass figure, and smart mouth he would like to taste...Every time they see each other sparks fly but the banter can be cutting... He hasn't been himself around her... He is usually the polite, good guy. She makes him seethe... out biding him on land that the owner had practically promised him.
Well, it can't take a genius to figure what we have in store...
She has something he wants...Actually, she has more than one thing he wants, heh heh... He has exactly what she needs... and she wants a deposit as soon as possible...
A Deal is struck... but right from the start...we know how all of this is going to go... and it is DELICIOUS...Dylan is sexy sexy sexy but also sweet too... And Emma is independent, strong, and can give as good as she gets...Their escapades are fantastic and Vintage Valente.
Both of these characters discover more about themselves through their learning about each other. Dylan sees he has wishes and desires he kept away from his heart but now fully realized through Emma. Emma thought she had everything figured out but when she understands what she could actually have...she sees she deserves it all.
The secondary characters lend to the read... with setups for more Hunter Men coming...Valente hit all of the swoony sexy times...and the delivery was perfect. (Couldn't resist :D)
The Baby Maker is a standalone novel by one of my all-time favorite authors, Lili Valente. I have read every single word she has written. I know once I open one of her books I will not want to put it down. That was definitely the case with Baby Maker. I wanted the next swoon moment. Their next laugh. Their next turn-on. I wanted it all.
A few months ago Emma moved to small town Merceyville from the craziness of Silicon Valley. Instead of being in front of the computer for seventy hours a week she was growing vines in Wine Country. Giving tours in her winery. Waking up early and cuddling on the couch at night with a good book. She was also admiring her sexy neighbor from afar and giving him shit from up close. He wanted some acreage from their neighbor. The same three she wanted. She wasn’t going to give in but then she thought of her dream. A dream that Dylan could help her achieve. A baby. A no-strings attached, sex only for sake of getting her pregnant business proposal. It was a crazy idea but it could work.
Dylan thought it was crazy. There was no way he could go through with it. But...it would fulfill two dreams for one. She would have her baby and Dylan would have the land he needs to go after his dream. Plus, three months of smoking hot sex with a woman that looked like a hot librarian that he wanted to shush him. He had his own amendment to the deal then it was time to get her knocked up. He could do this. His family had a reputation and it was time to use it. No problem.
Yes, problems! He liked her. Like, liked her liked her. It was suppose to be sex only but he wanted to wine and dine her. Picnic and devour her. This was not the plan. He was not suppose to fall. He didn’t know it but she was falling too...
I love these two! Dylan is swoon-worthy, sweet, and filthy-mouthed. He is also a man who would do anything for his family, neighbor, or even stranger. Emma is a strong, independent woman that knows exactly what she wants. She wants a baby even if she doesn’t have a prince to share it with. Will Dylan turn out to be that prince? Will there be a baby makes three family one day?
Overall...I loved, loved, loved it. The characters. The story. The sexiness. The laughter. The picnics. The love. The country. Plus, it was an added bonus that Santa Rosa, CA, my hometown and forever town was in the book along with surrounding ones. I am soooo looking forward to the next book, The Troublemaker. That’s the perfect name btw.

P.S. Lili, you rock at naming animals.
Quotes:
Emma Haverford, thorn in my side, salt in my wound, paper cut in my eye, has beaten me to coffee yet again.
I take her, claim her, prove to her that she can trust me to deliver, to ensure she never leaves my bed unsatisfied.
“You’re sure?” I tease as I back toward the door. “I’m down with fulfilling your toilet fantasies, baby. I’m a gentleman on the street, but I’ll be your freak on the can.” 🔹(Believe me, you will laugh)
I knew I wanted to read this book as soon as I saw the "Warning." It had me cracking up! I think that really helped to set the tone of this book. I was constantly laughing, so much so that I was halfway through the book before I started wondering how this story was going to play out.
The whole idea of Emma asking Dylan to help her make a baby was super crazy, but then the amount of chemistry these two had was electric! The chemistry was just so instantaneous, that I really hoped everything would work out for them. The banter between the Emma and Dylan was amazing and hysterical. I loved that they became such good friends, and that Dylan was trying so hard to impress her and introduce her into his life. He had no clue that he was looking for, but Emma was definitely it. Dylan's relationship was his family is something special too. He's the caretaker for sure, makes sure his brothers, their children and his dad are all taken care of.
I loved Emma so much through this, she was so ready to just do her own thing and say forget a man! I felt bad for the situation she was left in, but so happy she got what she wanted. I love how successful her winery is and how she's changed her left around so much. I also love her relationship with her sister, I was cracking up at the two of them. I basically laughed the whole time. I enjoyed this book so much! I love how the book ended so much, especially the epilogue. Can't wait for more from Lili!
**ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review**
Sexy fun times arise in Lili Valente’s newest contemporary romance in The Baby Maker. A sexy, light-hearted, delightful rom-com which is perfect to read on a whim.
Lili writes true characters that come to life within her pages. With real, hilarious interactions and honest emotions you can relate to her stories fully and embed yourself 100%. I adored this book. Give me a novel any day pertaining to a hot man reputation that ‘apparently’ has super-power sperm and any woman who comes in contact with him will likely become with child. Stories like this almost always have witty banter, joyful commentary and powerful emotions; Lili Valente excels on all and more. She delivers!
Emma Haverford who desperately wants a baby and Dylan Hunter who wants her come together on a mutual understanding in helping each other out. The Hunter gene pool are to be rumored to have fast ‘swimmers’ and when Emma hears this she is eager to strike up a deal. Help impregnate her and he gets the acreage… no strings attached. Is this to good to be true?
Wonderful. Full of emotion. Delightful novel. This was a great treasure to read and escape into. I loved Dylan and Emma. I liked their connection and how mature they were, even though they started off more as frenemies. You can always count on Lili to publish with heart and laughter with in her books. I look forward to reading more work from this talented author!
This book was super hot, very fun, and hit all the right notes to have me invested. Dylan was this honest, hard working guy who is dedicated to his family and manages to blend sweet with steamy perfectly when it came to Emma. He was pretty impossible not to fall for.
Emma was a woman who after going through a heartbreak reviews her priorities and decides what she truly needs to be happy is a baby, but not necessarily the man to go along with it. She's this great mix of intelligence, and vulnerability, and sass. Plus she loved coffee as much as I do so I was definitely a big fan.
Emma's desire for a baby led her and Dylan down a road that had me laughing, teary, and also smiling. It was such a good and really romantic story. I honestly enjoyed watching these two fall in love.
I also loved the other Hunter men I got little bits and pieces of. I cannot wait to read each of their stories. I recommend contemporary romance and RomCom fans pick this book up and get started with what has the potential to be a really excellent series.
When Emma Haverford moves to the country from Silicone Valley for a more relaxed and laid back lifestyle while running her own vineyard she didn't realize how sexy her neighbor was. And when Dylan Hunter wants a piece of her land to use for his own business idea Emma decides to make Dylan a proposition of her own and see if the rumors about the Hunter men is true, the rumor being that a woman only has to shake the hand of a Hunter man and she's pregnant. Dylan wants land and Emma wants a baby with no strings attached, should be easy right? Only thing is neither one of them expected to have such strong chemistry while making a baby. I liked it, the story line was engaging and sweet and the characters were very likeable and the sex was pretty hot to go with it.
Lili Valente has me swooning with just thinking about these Hunter men in The Baby Maker. This story is filled with silly moments, sexy banter and very heated chemistry. Dylan Hunter and Emma Haverford worked their way into my heart.
Dylan Hunter comes off a little grouchy from the start, but it's understandable. He helped save his family 's land, takes care of his family and has responsibilities and dreams that can weigh down any capable man. He is a gorgeous man that comes with a saying, Hunter men are baby makers- don't stand close to them unless you want to get pregnant. Except this Hunter man has no dreams of being tied down with a baby. Can his beautiful neighbor convince him to help make her dreams come true with no strings attached?
Emma Haverford is a beautiful, independent woman who finds that her biological clock is ticking. Emma wants a baby and will do whatever it takes to make her dream come true. Luckily for her, she doesn't have to look to far into making that happen and that the man she has in mind is very easy on the eyes. With complications of the heart, time and a very undecided sperm donor- this baby making proposal may be harder than she thought.
I would expect a very high percentage of Lili Valente's readers to end up in very cold showers, The Baby Maker is one hot read. I loved the storyline, characters and knowing that I will be gifted with Rafe's story who is Dylan's brother left me a very happy reader with something to look forward too. 5 Must Read Stars!!!
I have to admit I read the blurb and thought this sounded like my cup of tea but then I got to the warning and I was completely sold. Luckily I am already pregnant so I didn't have to worry too much about the warning.
I was semi expecting this to be a lot more smut with a little story thrown in and to be honest that would have still been a win for me. However I was thrilled to get a really sweet romance novel with a story that kept me turning the pages and a lot of really hot sex scenes to appease my pervy little heart.
Dylan was so caring and sweet I absolutely adored him and I loved that he was so open and honest and didn't play games or be anything at all other than exactly who he was without apologies. Not that he had anything at all to apologise for, that man was awesome. And to my absolute delight so was Emma. She knew exactly what she wanted and she went after it in the most straight forward way possible. They were just so damn sweet and sexy together, I loved them.
This is a must read for anyone wanting a sweet and steamy read that will make you feel nothing but happy thoughts for the few hours you wont be able to put it down. And the little tease for The Troublemaker has me off to GoodReads to make sure I have it on my TBR mountain to one click as soon as the pre-order is available.
Why did i wait until 3 books later to write this review I'm really not sure. Nevertheless
Books with this particular trope are a tough sell for me. I never really believe the situation but in this case it worked really well
h has moved away from her former city lifestyle and is trying her hand at wine making. She's established a business that's poised to be a success but at 34 with health issues she's missing one thing her heart has been craving. When she overhears a convo about the potency of the Hunter men she appraoches the H with a surprising proposal.
The H is infuriated with his sexy new neighbor, she's come between him and the land that he wanted. Though they've traded Barb's on occasion there's no denying he's attracted to her. But when the h makes him an offer he caught in a quandry ultimately his attraction wins and they set up terms
I enjoyed this one, it was funny, sexy and sweet. The H wasn't painted as a manwhore, the h was likeable and far from a doormat and the plot was believable and interesting. Winner all around. I didn't like the little issue in the end with the timing of the pregnancy because the H really didn't seem ready but they worked it out well and HE was the one asking for more babies! I loved it
Not too sure about the next book as the H was a manwhore and the h seemed to be maybe close to his equal so I'll coast on the happy bubbles of this one for a while
Not a manwhore H Older h(4 years if I recall correctly) No OW/OM drama
So...the title...lets forget about the title. I´m going to start with saying that the plot in this book is just as unrealistic as the title gives away. No one would ever make their neighbour and a sworn enemy an offer like this: to father a baby (the old fashioned way), walk away without a backwards glance and never have to worry about it, all for a piece of a land that the supposed "Baby maker" wants. Well at least not in the world I live in. But...this story had some good qualities too and I did like many aspects of it, which surprised me, because just reading the blurb and seeing the name of the book made me think I wouldn´t like it at all. The couple had some good chemistry and were likeable characters, even though this "plot" didn´t really do it for me.
The Baby Maker is Lili Valente’s newest romance. It will leave you smiling and sighing with contentment upon turning of the final page. Her ability to create vivid and entertaining stories through her masterful writing are always a pleasure to read, and her characters always charm and captivate me.
Emma is a strong and confident woman who knows what she wants. She wants a baby before her biological clock stops ticking. The only problem is she doesn’t have a man in her life to help her accomplish what she wants. So upon overhearing about the ability of the Hunter men, her neighbors, to get the job done with a shake of a hand, Emma decides this is her only option. The only problem is she has been butting heads with Dylan Hunter over land. But her determination is prevailing.
Emma confronts Dylan with her plan - a baby in exchange for the land. Despite the powerful connection he feels with Emma, his first impulse is to say no. But the intense attraction they share won’t permit him to reject her offer, especially if his prize will ultimately be the land he’s been after. But from their first night together the connection they share grows quickly leaving them both to wonder how they will ever been able to say goodbye.
I fell in love with Emma and Dylan pretty quickly, and once again Ms. Valente included many fantastic support characters which rounded out this story as well. The continuing banter and oh-so-hot and steamy moments shared between Emma and Dylan left me laughing and swooning and in need of a cold shower. Lili Valente continues to outdo herself novel after novel keeping her name at the top of my authors I must read list. Well done Ms. Valente.
Ahh… Emma and Dylan. I knew this author was going to deliver another sexy, warm-hearted romance – past experience told me s – so I’m not surprised that I was completely enthralled with their ‘business partners to lovers to sweethearts’ tale.
“Critical mass is when shit gets real. For me it started at around seven a.m.”
Dylan was sweet. Honest to goodness, devoted to family, always the good guy even when all he wanted to do was push back. Frustrated, he was keen enough to make his dad happy that he was going to ignore his own misgivings and enter into a deal he knew only one thing for sure… Emma was going to make it a wild, satisfying ride… “No, you don’t make me relaxed. You make me hungry. And wild. Maybe a little crazy.”
Emma was lovely. Matching Dylan for sweetness, she was funny and self-deprecating, and devoted to getting the one thing she knew she needed. The clock was ticking and she was going to use any and all weapons she could to seal the deal… Convincing her sexy but not exactly welcoming neighbour to get with the program didn’t take as much effort as she thought… Sexy librarian glasses needed to be in every woman’s arsenal…
“I’m a gentleman on the street, but I’ll be your freak on the can.”
Sexy, funny and so downright real, Emma and Dylan – all the characters – had me wishing to be a part of the family shenanigans and love that surrounded them all. The epilogues made me sigh and sigh some more. Including a tempting teaser for Rafe and Carrie’s story was exquisite torture and has me jonesing for the next story before this one is barely done…
This was a nice piece of fluff on a hot day. I put it in a similar range as Valente's first book I read, 2.75 to 3...
It's rather straightforward, not about 20-somethings, with some pretty heavy character inconsistencies in order to solve a problem that was essentially less than successful.
It's fine though. I snort-laughed more than once (might have been shocked), the hero is sweet and so is the heroine.
I might be slightly harsh in my rating on this one. 2.5 stars rounded down.
The writing is OK, easy to follow, not much substance, not much angst, not much emotion, very light, OK reading.
And that's the problem, everything is just OK. The humor isn't all that humorous. The plot is... rather unbelievable, but I'll say more in a sec... the MCs are OK. Everything is just OK, and I will not recall anything tomorrow about this book.
So the plot is what got me interested. A nerdy (sexy) librarian-esque woman in her mid 30s seeking to have a baby on her own. And she decides to proposition her next door neighbor. But not just ask him out right, she dangles the exchange of something he wants at the end of the proposition.
It seems... sordid. I was wondering whether the author would be able to make me feel OK about a woman asking a NICE guy to have the use of his sperm THE OLD FASHIONED WAY THROUGH UNPROTECTED SEX so that she can have a baby. They aren't friends, they're virtual strangers. The short of it is that the author did NOT manage to make me feel OK about this. I didn't like the woman for continuously backing the man into a corner so she can have her ONE BIG DREAM (even tho she claims to love him toward the end). And I didn't like the man for agreeing (even tho she promised she'd disappear after this).
It's one thing to donate to a sperm bank in exchange for $. Thank goodness there are men out there who provide sperm so couples and women can have that baby dream. But to do it with someone you KNOW, in exchange for a piece of land, while having unprotected hot sex... then walking away after you get them preggers (that's the deal) -- I don't know a GOOD guy who would do such a thing! It's too personal! It's too callous! Of course nobody walks away, but they entered into the deal with that outcome in mind.
I just didn't like either one of the characters for these reasons. Added onto the mediocre everything else (even the sex wasn't all that flaming hot), and you get the 2.5 star rounded down.
Dylan Hunter is a man possessed. He’s been running his family’s farm for years and he’s ready to move on, do his own thing and just… chill for once. There’s just one small, annoyingly tempting problem. The plot of land next door to his farm is up for sale. He was going to buy it for his dad to appease him from losing his vineyards to disease and hops and chickens. Long story short. Grapes were bad and Dylan ripped them out and replaced them with barley to make hops, and beer. Or that’s his dream anyway. Now, he just sells his produce to others. But, with that piece of land, his dad would be happy. Content. And Dylan could move on with his life. So, what’s stopping him? Well, it’s that little problem. She comes is a sexy, seductive body, cute smile and blonde curls and she wants that land too. She’s in a bidding war with him. Emma Haverford, knew Dylan wanted the grape grove, but she needed it more. She was the winemaker after all. But, there was something else she wanted to make. And she needed Dylan’s help for that. So, she offers him a deal. She’ll step back, if he’ll knock her up. Dylan can’t believe Emma asked him to do that and that he’s tempted. Oh, so tempted. Will he give in to temptation or will Emma’s bun remain uncooked? Find out in this sweet, sexy rom-com and be prepared to swoon at how this gorgeous man gets his girl.
Emma Haverford wants a baby. Desperately. Her clock is ticking and the only person that can possibly help her now is her neighbor, Dylan Hunter. There’s one problem though...they are currently enemies.
Dylan wants nothing to do with the hot, sexy neighbor that he keeps having dirty fantasies about. Until she propositions him with something he can’t refuse. Sex, no strings attached, so she can get pregnant and he gets the land he wants that is currently hers. The Hunter family gene pool is rumored to have super sperm and Emma is more the willing to test that theory by any means necessary.
The Baby Maker is a sexy rom com that is full of emotion, make you laugh moments and some good old fashion baby making! It was absolutely delightful and I loved Dylan and Emma. Their connection was instant, their banter was fun and the story was full of emotions! Great read!
The Baby Maker by Lili Valente is a lovely tale about a woman who wants a baby and finds love with a man from a famously fertile family.
I found this book on Bookbub and I decided to get it while it was the low, low price of free because it sounded charming! I love a good romance novel with lots of drama and angst. This book seemed like it fit the bill and I've enjoyed some of Lili Valente's other work, so it seemed like the natural fit.
This book was good but it wasn't a home run for me. Some of the comments in this book sat really funny and made me feel kind of weird. Emma wants a baby so bad that she's almost tricking Dylan into it. But at the same time, they fall in love at the end... It's not like this book is encouraging women to have manipulation relationships with men, but I also just felt... odd.
While this book may sit funny with me, I must applaud Lili's writing. She did a good job connecting me to these characters and writing in some character flaws as well. All the while, Dylan is lovable and loves kids and Emma seems like a woman who's clock is really ticking. I'm glad this novel works as a standalone and didn't have a cliffhanger, because MAN OH MAN I would not have been a happy camper if that happened.
There's lots of playful comedy throughout this book and even more sexy scenes. It's an R rated novel but it's definitely fun! I've read too many erotic novels that are so dark and lusty, so it was a nice change to read a more fun, light-hearted book. Emma and Dylan have some marvelous one liners towards each other! And, in my humble opinion, that's what makes this book work so well. It's fun and sexy! Perfect for any romance lovers shelf!
I probably would have liked this book more of I would have read it in a better format. I read it on my phone which makes the font big and harder to read. There were barely enough words on the page to make sense of it. Because of this, it took me quite a while to finish and I wasn't as interested in the book. That's on me, but it still affected my overall opinion.
Overall, this book is worth the read if you love romance and comedy. The sexy librarian scene and the fact that the woman is older than the man (just barely, but it counts!) is a nice touch too. This book stands out! I definitely want to read more by Lili. She has a great writing style, her books move as a fast pace and she makes me invested in these characters.
