Could you prove your innocence if an entire country believed you were guilty?
Dan Harris doesn’t know how things could get worse. The tragic death of his son left his heart and his marriage in ruins. Even traveling to the Bahamas to focus on his next book, Dan can’t help but find himself lost in a fog of grief and guilt. His life only goes from bad to worse, though, when he stumbles upon a dead body and immediately becomes the prime suspect in the man’s murder.

In the face of a local constable who’s out to get him and with no one but a flirtatious librarian on his side, Dan desperately searches for evidence to prove his innocence. But each body added to the killer’s pile only makes the writer look more and more guilty.

With his marriage on life support and his freedom in peril, can Dan unmask the murderer before he loses everything?

Full of colorful characters and page-turning suspense and twists, if you like Harlen Coben and David Baldacci, you’ll love Guilt.

David Taylor Black is an aspiring best-selling author who began his career at nine with the script of the as-yet unfinished film, In the Backyard. The premise may or may not have been a bit of a rip-off of a James Bond movie—with lots of running. He lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his partner, Dion, and his too-big-to-be-a-lapdog dog, William.

This was NOT an e-book, but a paperback. And I read it one time, not twice, as indicated.

First off, the setting is one of the best things about this book. Hope Town, Bahamas. An island. I felt like the island should be one of the characters in Guilt..

Dan Harris is the main character, a writer who goes to Hope Town to escape for a bit and write. Lots of developments are happening on the island that keep Dan busy and writing is not one of them.

My mind kept going back and forth between whether the story was a tragic-comedy, or a comic-tragedy. But nevertheless, the story moved well and was interesting enough that the reader is certainly entertained.

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway.

I purchased this book to read on my iPad while waiting at airport terminals and sitting on airplanes during an upcoming work trip. I intended only to read a few pages of the first chapter to get a feel for whether or not I’d like it. Well, I liked it so much and it was so well written that I finished it in about two days and didn’t get much else accomplished. It was difficult to put down and I found myself wondering about what might happen next when I did. I hope that there will be more coming from Mr. Black.

Dan Harris has moved temporarily to Hope town, in the Bahamas, trying to cope with a tragic loss and his failing marriage. Unfortunately, he stumbles upon a corpse and becomes the main suspect in a murder case. The entire town is against him and his only friend us a flirty librarian. And the body count is rising. Will Dan solve the mystery that threatens his freedom and marriage?

The book is fast paced, full of credibe plot twists. The characters are lovable and engaging. There is a certain dark humour in the narration. The author uses absurd situations which are nevertheless completely plausible. The backbone of the plot is prejudice, gossip and persecution. This makes the protagonist's plight more frightening. That is the book's secret weapon.

I read the entire book in a sitting. Can't wait for the author's next book.

I don't normally write reviews but could not resist here. This was, with a doubt, the most bazar Murder Mistry I've ever read. The plot was so cluttered. The role of Law Enforcement was so inept it was truly hard to imagine it could happen. Too many murders (which appeared to have no real purpose when reading about them). I will admit, I became so intrigued with the confusion and clutter I had to read to the end just to satisfy my curiosity.

Murder Murder Everywhere where!

Writer Dan arrives at his island rental and gets thrown into the middle of a bunch of murders. A classic case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The cast of characters are charming and full of color. It ends with a perplexed Dan wondering what storm comes next.

This is an exciting and entertaining read. It's an edge of your seat page turner. The story is based in a small settlement in the Bahamas riddled with a series of murders. David doesn't hand you the answers and this thriller will keep you reading late into the night to find out what happens next. This is the first book in the series and I will definitely be picking up the next book when it comes out.

Fast-paced mystery. I enjoyed it although felt it was a bit far fetched in parts.

A page turner until the very end.

The plot of Guilt can be best described as suspenseful chaos. To be honest, when I first started reading, I thought this would be a classic “whodunit.” Don’t get me wrong, it certainly is a theme of this book. Yet, as I continued reading, I realized there was so much more to this story. There seemed to be multiple twists and turns page after page. Truthfully, I was so intrigued that I was unable to put this book down.

This is a great book, especially for a new author. As with any good mystery, the story line has a lot of twists, mostly guided by a cast of very well-developed characters and interesting back stories that are masterfully woven together, especially as the book is tied up near the end. Even if you think you have figured out who committed the main crime before the book’s end, there are so many more details that I was not able to put together myself, so it made the book even more satisfying when I finished. Besides the characters and story line itself, I love the author’s voice, with his subtle sense of humor in unexpected places and vivid descriptions of people and places. I look forward to more!

First, let me say the cover of the book , the depth here on several levels, omg! This book had me from the first page. I love mysteries and the added spice of the characters was delightful. I really felt I was right there. Every page I turned had my heart beating faster. I couldn't stand it. And just when I thought things were getting better, what the? ??? Now what? Where's part 2? Gotta have part 2 You sneaky person. Gotta have part 2. I love this book but I want more.

Guilt is a well-structured thriller with enough to keep you guessing at the who and the why. I did figure out who must "have done it,” but it took the author confirming it before I was completely convinced. The characters are interesting, some you love to hate, and others you hate to love.

It was a quick, fun read, yet David Taylor Black’s intelligent, subtle style makes it more than that. This is a very good debut novel I thoroughly enjoyed, and I highly recommend it. Bring on book two!

I love to read good suspense. This book had me on the edge of my seat with unexpected twists and surprises. The vivid descriptions made the story come alive and I felt like I was there, experiencing smells, tastes, scenery and settings along with the characters. This is one book that you won't want to put down. When is the next book in the series going to be available? I can hardly wait!

I loved Guilt! I was invested in the characters from the first few pages.. they were likeable, interesting and endearing. Each page came with a twist and turn the reader wasn't expecting - making it hard to put the book down, and just as anxious to pick it back up again!

We know there is more to come in the series - so I'm excited to find out how the story continues in Guilt 2!

This book was one of those books that you hate to finish. So good. I hated to see it end and at the same time I just didn't want to stop reading. I had to know what came next. It ended too soon. Glad there is going to be a next book.

Very well written! Guilt is a fast-paced solid thriller with great characterization and vividly descriptive text. I felt like I couldn't read fast enough to get to the end and uncover the mystery. David Taylor Black is an exceptional up and coming author!

A good mystery with lots of details. I feel like I've been to Hope Town, and I know those streets. But I found it hard to root for the main character at times, because of decisions he made.
