Only a Shadow
Trouble rears its head once again in Blue Cove and dashes straight into Jessie’s store in the person of a battered young woman fleeing her abusive spouse. Jessie finds herself pulled into another case as a body is discovered in the church dumpster, and the dead woman's ghost takes up a vigil in Jessie’s place of business.
Is the dead woman connected to the frightened and battered girl who took refuge in the store? Matt and Jessie’s search for the killer leads them to their victim’s family, members of a strange religious group that lives off the grid outside of town. Add to the mix a crypt in the woods on a foggy night, Jessie’s abduction, a couple of angry and abusive husbands, and the resident ghost, and they will have their hands full solving this crime.

ONLY A SHADOW is the fifth book in the Blue Cove Mystery series. Though each will stand on its own, I support reading them all and in the order of release.
For myself, this is the first book that I have read from Iona Morrison and I truly do wish I had the rest of the Blue Cove Mystery series. I love Jessie! I love Matt! I only wish the narrator were someone other than Nicole Blessing (aka the cure for insomnia).
What a fantastic story! It had suspense, action, ghosts, sweet babies, sweet romance, and fighting back against domestic abuse!
Because some of the subject matter would be traumatic for younger children, I would hesitate to let the smaller ears listen in, but otherwise it is safe for the family.
As I said, this is the first book I have read, though it is the fifth in the series, but it is obvious that Matt and Jessie’s relationship has been slowly growing through these five books. I’ve joined at the right time! Sigh!! I love that he believes in her, even if he can’t see her ghosts. Their sparks are evident in every interaction and conversation. They also have a wonderful group of friends who add a tremendous layer of depth to the story and their lives.
Narration – 2 crowns: Narration is done by Nicole Blessing and I have only one more read by her in my library. I have made a concerted effort to clear these books from my files and I’m nearly there.

Another amazing story in Blue Cove
This is a romantic mystery! The character development makes you feel the characters are your friends. Jess is such a sweet girl and I can't wait for Matt to pop the question.
