5 breath of fresh air stars

I really enjoyed this book. Accidentally Hers is the first book in the Sterling Canyon series and I really hope there will be many more to come. This is my first time reading anything by Jamie Beck, and I will for sure be reading more books from her. I loved everything about this book, the main couple, all of the other characters (except for Avery's father and her ex bf Matt), and the story plot. Everything! This was a truly cute, romantic, low on angst read. It was like a breath of fresh air.

What this book is about
While picking up dinner Grey Lowell sees a beautiful woman with big doe eyes and he instantly nicknames her Bambi. He feels a connection to Bambi, but instead of talking to her, he smiles, winks, and leaves. On his way home he is hit by a drunk driver, messing up his knee. Already upset over the fact that he can lose his business , a ski-expedition company, if he doesn't get his knee in shape to ski, he also has to work with the sister of the guy that hit him. As she is the only PT in town. He was shocked to walk into PT and find that the sister of the drunk driver is Avery Randall aka Bambi. Working so close together for months has only caused their mutual attraction to grow. Will Grey be able to convince Avery to give their budding relationship a chance , or will some obstacles just be too big to overcome?

Grey was so damn awesome. Super sweet, sexy, understanding , and supportive. Avery was great too, but not as awesome as Grey. Just sayin... Avery was gun shy. She has been hurt before, but so has Grey. Grey and Avery were very sweet together. Their flirty playfulness was just too cute. Their relationship is well developed, and so are the character's personalities. The story line was different, and flowed nicely. The way each character acted was very realistic. Especially Avery, I could almost feel her loyalties being pulled. Her dilemma, fear and her guilt felt very real and helped me over look her insecurities about Grey and their relationship. I hated her cheating ex bf Matt, and it would have bugged me a lot more that he was trying to win her back if she would have been nice to him, but since she avoided him like the plague I was ok with it. I have to say that I really want Grey's best friend Trip get a book, and maybe Avery's friend Em and her brother Andy too. The ending was a little abrupt but I have a feeling the next book will pick up where this one left off. Great read, I can't wait for the next one!

Accidentally Hers is sweet. I like this book more than expected. The twist on the plot is spot on to bring the story alive. The romance is very simple. But the journey to the HEA, which is tangled with family drama, that makes it good.
Miss Beck done a great job navigating the conversation, banter, secondary characters into the story. the law jargon is also easy to follow. I even learned a thing or two from this book. Gray and Avery as main characters have a chance to develop their characters through out the story. I like Gray who is not afraid to show his vulnerability. He is not an alpha male hero who play dumb about his feeling.
Overall this is a good book.

It's not easy for me to write a negative review. As a creative in a different arena, I understand how much goes into expressing yourself in such a public way, you are laying yourself bare for all to see and comment on, and I appreciate the courage that takes. Having said that, we all look for different things in our books and this is just my opinion, which goes against many of the reviews on here.
Firstly, what I liked about this book.
I liked the premise of the story, the way the author wove the main characters stories together. It was set up well, and opened up opportunities for emotional attachment and angst. I also could envisage the setting and atmosphere of the town.I liked the main characters friendship groups and what they added to the story and I can see there is potential for the author to continue this series with their stories.
Sadly, as the story went on I felt bogged down by too much inner dialogue, particularly from the heroine, her 'rules', and her manner, which caused me to disconnect from her as the story progressed. She began to annoy me with her flip flopping of emotions and poor decision making. I felt some of it was there just to create unnecessary angst and ended up making her look weak and immature. I understood how her past had effected her but, in the end I lost interest in her HEA.
Grey, on the other hand, I felt more of a connection to than Avery, but still missed the total connection that I look for. I thought he was open and honest. He showed his vulnerability, even when Avery was not willing to do the same. I had to wonder though, if attraction and lust would be enough to overcome the obstacles they had in the beginning, knowing what they did and what it meant for their budding relationship. I'm not sure I would have pursued a relationship in that situation until the issue between us was somewhat more resolved.
Overall, this book had potential but it just fell short for me. I thought that some of the situations were added or drawn out unnecessarily. Some just took the focus away from their developing relationship and the ability for the reader to form a strong bond with the main characters. The ending felt rushed and Grey forgave Avery far to quickly for my liking. I didn't want him to drag it out, but he did a complete 180 in the space of 5 minutes that I felt was unrealistic. And then the book ended. I would have liked an epilogue. And I would have liked someone to stand up to Avery's overbearing father. It just felt unfinished to me.

I loved every minute of this book. This was a truly unique story that hooked me from the get go. A romance set with a backdrop where the love interests are pitted on different sides of a criminal/legal battle made for a winner.
The obstacles that Grey and Avery faced were not your typical contrived and cliched ones that have been boring me to tears lately. I seem to be in a bit of reading slump lately, if my DNF list is anything to go by. This story was a refreshing change. I couldn’t put it down.
The combination of drama, character development and romance was perfectly paced. I loved Grey! He was absolutely perfect. Seriously!!! Though Avery did drive me a little nuts with her trust issues, I didn’t find her actions over the top or unbelievable. And seeing her through Grey’s eyes did win me over in the end.
I was really hoping to get some more insight into Andy, but given this looks like it will be a series, I’m hoping that is remedied in a future story.

Love can happen in the most unusual of ways. It can be beautiful, it can be magical and it can be accidental. This is a story of 2 people who meet in the most uncomfortable situation and turn it into something memorable.
Grey Lowell and Avery Randall are 2 people that have been spurned by love. But a DWI brings these two together and it is that unfortunate situation that brings a closeness, an awareness, and a spark to each other's lives. Grey is your rugged outdoors man whose injury to his knee sidelines him. Avery is a PT and just happens to be the best in this quaint ski town. So as these two are forced together, there connection begins to grow in a slow and steady pace. Learning to trust and believe in love again isn't easy when you have been hurt in the past and the present is working against you too. Grey and Avery muddle through and learn that sometimes loving, trusting, hurting and forgiveness are what true love is all about.
Jamie Beck writes exceptional dialogue. She brings emotion and depth to the story of Grey and Avery. She also creates secondary characters (Trip, Kelsey, Andy, Emma) who are fun, sweet, sassy, sexy and help to round out the story. While reading you get a comfortable feeling with all the characters and become fully invested in all their lives. They become like your family and you want to know what's going on in their life as well. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, Secretly Hers.
If you love a romance that has a solid story, a slow and steady blossoming of love and great accessory characters, Accidentally Hers, is a book for you!!

Grey has invested every last dollar in his cross-country skiing business. Money is tight but if everything goes to plan things should start to look better in a few years. Then things get much worse. While he is riding his bike he is hit by a drunk driver and suffers a major knee injury. If money was tight before things are dire now. Every day he can't take tourists out into the back country is a day that his financial situation gets worse. Adding to his problems the best physiotherapist in town happens to be the drunk driver's very own sister.
Avery and Grey feel an immediate spark of attraction, but with her brother facing jail time for DUI, and the possibility that Grey will be given the home she jointly owns with her brother in lieu of compensation there is a lot standing in the way of a relationship. He's the first man who has ever treated her as an equal, who not only hasn't tried to change her, he doesn't want to, but is it enough?
This book is very much Meat & Potatoes contemporary romance. It's a feel good by the numbers love story which doesn't try to be something it's not....and because it doesn't try to be special, it actually is. I really loved Accidentally Hers. it's not the greatest book ever written but who cares, it's entertaining and that's what it's all about.

The book does a fairly good job of exploring all of the devastating ripple effects that driving drunk and injuring someone can have. From the driver facing legal charges, a civil suit, financial impact, judgement from the small town, loss of job, unable to find another one, financial impact to the family to the impact on the injured party, loss of ability to do his very physical job, immediate financial impact, future income, risk to his business going under, and so forth. The small town setting magnified the ripples with all of the connections and interactions that exist in a small town that might not be apparent in a larger city. It was a miserable situation where so many people are devastated or at risk.
The conflict of interest of the sister of the driver treating the injured victim as his PT and the romance that grew drove me crazy. It was so wrong in a thousand ways and I never really got invested in the relationship.
I couldn't sit back, eat bon bons and enjoy the romance which was my goal. As a result, the book seemed to last forever and I found myself frustrated that I was only X% of the way and skimming alot wanting to just get to the end.
The conflict of interest of the sister of the driver treating the injured victim as his PT and the romance that grew drove me crazy. It was so wrong in a thousand ways and I never really got invested in the relationship.

Accidentally Hers was a really cute and quick read. It's about Avery and Grey.
Grey is new to town and Avery is a sterling canyon native. Unfortunately for these two, they meet each other after a horrible accident. Of course they see each other with a brief glance way before Grey gets hit by a drunk driver, who also just happens to be Avery's brother.
Avery is his physical therapist and if I were in her shoes I'd feel extremely guilty due to her brother being the problem that caused Grey his injuries. Of course, things start to heat up between the two. However, it's not a lover's paradise for Avery and Grey, nope - her ex boyfriend comes into the picture for some more unnecessary drama in their lives. It was kind of a hot mess.
Now, I loved Grey. I sort of liked his relationship with Avery, but honestly, she annoyed the crap out of me. Maybe if her character was different I could have loved them together. Sadly, I just didn't really like her.
I might read the next book in this series or I might not. I have no idea.

This book was well written and I liked the sound of the storyline. However, it fell a bit short for me. I really didn't like Avery very much, she was a mature and intelligent woman and I get that she was kind of stuck in the middle between her family and Grey regarding the financial fallout of the accident but I just couldn't warm up to her. As for Grey, he was too good for Avery and I think maybe just a bit too nice. I also think that everyone seemed to pander to Andy, he broke the law and caused a lot of trouble with financial implications not to mention pain and suffering and I didn't really get the impression that he was very sorry and he seemed to expect everyone else to sort it out for him. Overall it was quite a disappointing book and I don't have any interest in reading more of this series. For me it's just 2.5☆.

Avery is the only orthopaedic physical therapist in the small town and agrees to help Grey even though he could be the reason he ends up in jail.
Absolutely lovely book. I loved that Grey and Avery had the hardest start and still managed to make it work. Absolutely love Trip and really looking forward to his story.
Loved that this book was narrated the narrator was great.

Such a cute cover! I was like yes! I need this! But, yall, there was a struggle. Accidentally Hers was not my cuppa at all.
The Gist: Grey was just minding his own business when a drunk driver hit him. Turns out it's the brother of the girl who'd caught his eye. A sticky spot to be put in for sure. Especially when his injuries keep him from actually doing his job and legal matters have to be taken into consideration.
Yeah. The hero, Grey, amazing guy. The only reason this didn't get 1 star was because I liked him. He's the victim of everything but tries not to hurt anyone else. Tries to find a middle ground where they can all carry on. He's honest and kind and way better people than Avery and her family.
So, yes, Avery. The heroine and her family were spineless and slimy. The whole storyline revolved around them trying to get her brother off the hook after he drunk drove and injured the hero. Trying to weasel out of him getting jail time or paying a settlement to the hero. Passing the blame to the bar and bar owner instead of taking responsibility. Grey be damned, too.
I just. So bad.
Avery really had no backbone. Couldn't think for herself, betrayed Grey in a terrible manner. She just wasn't quality people. And when she finally did pull it together it really was an example of too little too late.
Obviously, I wasn't all that enthused about their romance. lol
The Narration
The narration was a struggle as well. This was my first from Kate Rudd and will be my last. Pacing and tone were both awkward and incredibly clipped. Everything sounded angry or panicked/rushed. Even when it was something simple like "what are you doing?" It would come out whatareyoudoing?" Surprisingly, though, I did like the hero's voice but other than that nothing was really working for me. I tried multiple speeds to see if that would improve things but it didn't.
So, yeah, a miss all around.

Greg sees a cute woman while out eating. Nothing happens and he leaves. He is hit by a drunk driver and has injuries that keep him from working and put his life on hold. Physical therapy becomes part of his healing process and wouldn't you know it? His PT is the very cute woman he saw in the restaurant! But, things aren't always easy either. Avery's brother Andy was the one who drove while drunk and hit Greg.
This had an interesting storyline. But that is where it stops. I really didn't like Avery all that much and I felt she lacked empathy for Greg and was way too much on her brother's side. I'm going to come right out and say it: I did not like Avery. For someone that Grey believed was intelligent, she lacked common sense and wanted her cake and eat it too. Yes, she understood where Grey was coming from in terms of a potential lawsuit, but you can't serve two masters and this woman was torn between her loyalty to her one and only brother, who she acknowledged was responsible for what happened to Grey, and her feelings for Grey, who was desperately trying to do the right thing all the time, even if it was going to cost him temporary financial security. I'm torn between calling Grey a romantic gentleman with a kind heart and a dewy-eyed sap. Maybe he's just really too nice of a guy, but even his best friend had his eyes open the entire time and knew that Grey was in over his head when it came to Avery and risked too much.
To be honest, I didn't really like the ending all that much because I felt as if Avery didn't really learn anything from the whole fiasco. I think that Grey gave up way more than Avery did, and he was the actual victim here while Avery acted as if she were the one suffering the most. Clearly, my less than pleasant feelings for Avery are going to affect my overall rating because I do want to have a connection with at least one of the lead characters and when I have no respect or affection for them whatsoever, I'm not inclined to give a book a five-star rating, no matter how original or creative a story is. I am curious about the supporting characters in this book, especially Grey's best friend and Avery's brother, so I've still got my eye on the series. Accidentally Hers was my first book by Jamie Beck and I am honestly not sure if it was the writing style or simple just this plotline that didn’t work out for me. I want to believe that it was the plotline so I can give the author another chance as I really liked the idea behind this book.
I can not even tell anymore how or when precisely the story lost me but after an intriguing start there were simply to many times that I found myself actually cringing at the plotline. And I was not able to understand why those two actually even began to have a relationship.
There was just to much wrong with the whole package. Quite frankly Avery did not deserve such a nice Guy so the book title was the biggest truth of all… Maybe I am the odd one out here but those are my thoughts : -)

I do understand the loyal to the family, but I m not that understand that, if u r the only one who is loyal, do u still go on?
Grey is a honorable man, he was in bad luck, the accident, broken knee, business failed, mountain of bills because the accident. Yeah, grey is the victim, not the one to blame.
Those r ANDY, who drunk n drove, caused the accident that hurt Grey.
Avery may be a smart woman with Ph.D. Degree in PT, but she was selfish, she maybe nice, victim of the accident too, but she said that the truth is she really owes her parent money, she may love her child house but when u need to face the consequences, u need to sacrifice.
I love Trip, he is a nice guy, when he came up with money to save the business, he just told, the money was family money n he didn't want to open that closed door, it was A sad story behind that door. Looking forward to hearing.

Adored this book! I thought the writing and storyline were fresh and unique and I adored the characters. Grey is amazing. Avery is a little annoying at times but in the end I really liked her.
And the beautiful setting of the Colorado mountains came to life with the wonderfully descriptive writing. While their attraction to each other is strong, the issues standing between them are difficult at best. Family loyalty and future happiness are put to the test, can they survive no matter what decisions are made??
This is an amazing book that I highly recommend.

Barely ok for me..
Let me just start by saying I wasn’t going to get this book because of the stupid looking guy on the front. WHY anyone would put a male model on the front of a book that looks that stupid is beyond me. I associate my hero with the pic I see one the front, if there is one, but I really couldn’t this time. Between ridiculous hats and men with buns in their hair and men with horribly bushy beards I’m going to stop reading books with a man on the front if they are all going to start looking like that. BUT THAT'S JUST MY OPINION. I feel better after ranting for a minute.
Now, on to the book. This was another simple love story, about Grey who noticed a woman in a restaurant but didn’t speak to her, and left. Within minutes of leaving he’s hit by a car. Bambi/Avery, the woman from the restaurant, is a Physical Therapist and that’s just what Grey needs after the surgery on his leg. She’s also the sister of the man who hit Grey. And the story begins. Sooo, to sue or not to sue, that’s the question. This story did kind of go on and on about who Grey was going to sue. I mean, Avery and her family were just scraping by so Avery suggested Grey sue the bar where Andy had been drinking. Over all, it had some good points, Grey and Tripp especially, but mostly it was kind of boring. Really, the narrator (Kate Rudd) was all that kept me listening. And even though this was a free read, free listen, as is the next book, I don’t think I’ll go on to the next one. This was a long 9 ½ hours.
I did like the other players: Tripp, Emma, (needy) Kelsey, and Andy. Matt was an idiot.
What I REALLY, REALLY didn’t like, and it happened in another book I read just the other day, is when the hero forgets the heroine's name too much. Her name was Avery and Grey called her “Bambi” 57 times. He gave her the nickname the first time he looked at her. After about 15 times it became very annoying.
There was some sexual tension and sex in this story. The F-bomb was used 9 times.
As to the narration: Kate Rudd was all that made this book worthwhile. Her voices and emotions were just great!

At the start I was thinking four stars. It didn’t take long for that to turn into a “ehhh...maybe 3...”, and by the end of the book at times even two stars seemed too generous. The story, while gripping enough, lacked any sort of originality. That, on top of the predictably self-absorbed main characters, made this book a chore on more than one occasion. The writing was average. The intimate scenes were overused and cringey. Probably the worst part about this story though? The characters themselves. They were so self absorbed all the time, completely unaware and uncaring of the people they supposedly loved, and took no responsibility for their actions and couldn’t fathom any sort of consequence when they made a stupid decision. Grey is that classic “nice guy” but he’s really not that nice of a guy at all. He’s pushy and at times even a little manipulative, using his “nice guy” persona as a weapon. And Avery, quite frankly, is just annoying. She’s basically everything she says she doesn’t want to be. The entire set up of the book, the drunk driving and the accident, played out so inaccurately and unbelievably that by a quarter of the way into the book I no longer cared about what happened with that part of the story. Turns out that’s a good thing, because there isn’t really even a definite ending. I do have to say, this book set up the second book nicely, but I’m not sure I want to risk wasting my time on it like I did with this one.
If you want my opinion? Pick a different book.
P.S. The narrator for the audiobook was fantastic though, and she deserves credit for doing a great job.

Not great
Certainly an interesting concept. H is struck while on his motorcycle, by h's drunk brother. Then begins the problems that arise between them. Summit meetings have been resolved, with less problems than these two have.
A calm, relaxing, enjoyable afternoon romance, this is not.
More like the Dr. Seuss character whose tail was entangled in unsolvable knots. I didn't think it would ever end. It finally does, with less fireworks, more fizzle, but by then I was just so glad to see it end, that I didn't even care how! Way too long, way too convoluted, this is definitely not a favorite for me.

I liked it. Great premise, believable conflict and strong execution. It was a bit too nicey-nice for me. Heroine doesn't approve of swearing, hero has a sweet tooth. She wouldn't agree to date him for months and then was reluctant to sleep with him. Come on, girl! Get some!! I wanted more steam and spontaneity and mental lusting during PT appts. I liked that that hero struggled financially and with dyslexia. All of the details (legal, ski, physical therapy) seemed well researched.

So enjoyed the journey of the relationship of Avery and Grey set in a small ski town of Colorado. Both with previous failed relationships and not looking for a new relationship. Loved how family is so important to Avery and how Grey is very fair to her family and not taking them down. Loved the secondary characters, Kelsey and Trip hoping for more from them.

I recently found Ms. Beck’s great books and quickly read her St. James series. Those were fantastic. I eagerly took advantage of the KU program to download Accidentally Hers, the book, and the audio. I discovered another great series.
I thoroughly enjoyed Avery and Grey’s love story. The characters are well-developed, and the story line believable. This one has plenty of twists and turns that kept the book moving at a fast pace.
Ms. Beck’s writing is emotionally-charged. Even her secondary characters are fully developed. Although Avery’s brother, Andy did not have any POV, I could still feel his remorse and pain over his terrible mistake.
If you enjoy character-driven romances with plenty of heart and a great cast of characters, then you will love Accidentally Hers as much as I did. I’m so glad I discovered Ms. Beck’s books and can’t wait to read the next one in this series. Happy reading!

Accidentally Yours is my first book from Jamie Beck and I listened to the audiobook version. I loved Greyson "Grey" Lowell. He was a kind, laidback, sexy, athletic, stand-up kind of awesome guy, who practically fell in love with Avery "Bambi" Randall the first time he sees her. Even though trying to have a relationship with her is all kinds of complicated and has bad idea written all over it, he can't resist her. Avery is between a Rock and a hard place when it comes to Grey. She's definitely interested, but there are roadblocks from every direction and she can't decide what is the right thing to do. I had a hard time warming to her character or seeing that she had any real chemistry with Grey. Maybe it was the narrator's portrayal, but I couldn't find any sympathy for her. Grey's friend Trip, on the other hand was funny, sexy, a total flirt and a player, but also quite lovable. 3.5 stars

The story was okay at best. I wasn't a fan of the circumstance of this couple getting together. I thought it was rather stupid and pretty bad to make the lead female's brother the drunk driver that hits the lead male character. And then she is sticking up for her brother all the time. Makes it hard to like her. Leave the drunk drivers out of your story unless you are going to make them villains. The story really suffered because of this story line.
As for the narration, it was great. Kate Rudd is a fantastic narrator. The men sound like men and everyone gets their own distinct voice. She reads with emotion and has a great reading voice.
This was a free read free listen with my KU subscription. Glad I didn't pay for it.

A mostly cute, light read. Avery began to wear on nerves at the midway point; her excuses for being closed off were no longer working for me. I really liked Grey and wish my annoyance at Avery hadn't overshadowed his character. I found the supporting cast adorable and will try their books in the future. This is one that would be good palette cleanser in between heavy reads.

I liked that it had a character that struggled with dyslexia and how it affected his life.
