4.5 Scrumptious Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

Clemmie is being added to my ever-growing book BFF list! Loved her and her group of friends... you know the friendship is real when you are willing to dress up like a mermaid not just once but twice for your friends.... Tail and all! I’d love to go to the Little Cornish Kitchen and have a macaroon or two with these girls!

Clemmie has wanderlust never staying anywhere for too long... so when she returns home to check out the flat she is inherited from her grandmother, it is only temporary... even though she is enchanted by her grandmother’s eclectic beach front flat filled with memories, she insists this is still temporary... when she learns the repair costs of the flat she is determined to hold onto it... she especially does not want to sell it to her pushy neighbor Charlie... so she cooks something up to earn some money, still insisting this is temporary...

Clemmie and friends open a Singles/putting pop-up... with Clemmie making lots of yummy goodies from her grandmothers basket of recipes.... with several mishaps in the kitchen and frequent visits from her neighbor Charlie and his furry friends, this book kept me laughing and hungry! Loved the slow burning romance between clammy and Charlie.... and Charlie was quite brilliant he befriended all of her friends as well! The best way to a girls heart is through her friends, right?

Such a delightful book filled with fun, friendship, family, and yummy food! And I didn’t even mention the bit about Clemmie‘s long-lost father and brothers... Jane Linfoot I would be more than happy to visit the Little Cornish Kitchen in a future book, hint, hint!

An absolutely perfect summer read that will make your heart beat faster and your stomach rumble...

5☆ A Scrumptious Warm Feel Good Read

The Little Cornish Kitchen is a scrumptious story of friendships, romance & tummy rumbling food.

Clemmie has moved into her Grandmothers apartment whilst she is deciding what to do with it.

Charlie the sexy neighbour wants her Grandmothers Apartment, but Clemmie has other ideas.

She decides to bake and sell scrumptious food to help pay for the repairs needed.
Now if your like me and adore baking then you will absolutely LOVE this book.
However do not read this on an empty tummy.

There is so many wonderful characters in this beautifully charming book. I felt like I was really part of Clemmie's friendship group.

The Little Cornish Kitchen is a feel good warm, fun, lil dash of Mystery and a good sprinkle of Romance, I really hope there will be more to come from Clemmie.

Jane Linfoot had me laughing out loud with all the mishaps and mayhem, tummy rumbling with all the mouth watering bakes, swooning over the neighbour Charlie, and falling in love with The Little Cornish Kitchen. I highly recommend this adorable book.

Thank you to Rachel Random Resources for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Favorite Quotes:

I start to take a deep breath but stop halfway. In the five years since Sophie’s wedding, my dress must have shrunk in the wardrobe. A lot.

I purse my lips and stay silent. The only way to deal with Sophie in her ‘conquer the world’ mood is to go with her. Then clear up the wreckage afterwards.

As for me waking up for the first time in my life with a fur ball snuggled in the crook of my knees – comfortable doesn’t start to cover it. Suddenly all the stories about crazy cat women make complete sense.

I’ll always look back on that last hour we spent together as the time when the tilt of my whole world shifted –very gently, to a better place. There weren’t any thunderclaps or even any sobbing. In the end, there was nothing momentous or earth shattering about what is, after all, simply right.

I start to work my way down Sophie’s final menu list. Every item has the word ‘mini’ in front, except the drinks, which say large. According to Sophie, so long as food’s small enough to fit in a child’s mouth it has zero calories.

My Review:

It took me a good while to warm up to the character of Clemmie as she wasn’t always likable or admirable, she was often rude, thoughtless, snappish, and prone to escape or avoid anything that required much effort – such as conversations, relationships, self-analysis, or any type of feeling. The storylines developed gradually, at the slow and leisurely pace of a tortoise. Once I realized this, I settled in for a long, amusing, and gentle read that should have come with a warning label, as it proved hazardous to my diet. Don’t report me to your diet guru but - gasp - the food! It sounded positively delectable! The lessons, food prep, the mess, the eating… all of which had me frequently venturing into my pantry while foraging for food and gasp even a frightening moment where I was actually considering dusting off the mixer to replicate their baking efforts, that soon passed... But I was highly pleased to find a few recipes in the back, in particular, the one for brownies, which has only three ingredients and uses Nutella – OMG - that right there is worth purchasing the book.

And I hit a treasure trove of additions for my Brit Vocab List with: throw a wobbly (tantrum), Serviettes (table napkin), mahoosive (extremely large) skew-whiff (lopsided), Eton mess (a sweet dessert), and Bloody Nora (an expression of dismay dating back to a long-dead 17th century Duke after one of his servants, named Norah, who had a penchant for battering and killing the Duke’s other servants with odd objects such as celery sticks and tea kettles, and thus causing a bloody mess). Learning a new vernacular is such fun.

Clemmie Hamilton has taken a break from her stay in Paris and returned to St. Aidan, Cornwall to help out with the launch of her friend’s new skincare business and to sort out the apartment left to her by her Grandmother that she had been renting out, but now the renter has left and the place is empty.

She is unsure what to do with the apartment. It needs lots of work doing to it, but when businessman, property developer, and neighbour Charlie Hobson wants to buy the place, she realises that she can’t let it go and comes up with a novel idea to pay for the repairs.

The Little Cornish Kitchen was everything I’d been expecting it to be seen as it was set in Cornwall – Gorgeous scenery that you can visualise perfectly, and even more gorgeous cakes and puddings. Believe me, this book will have you salivating.

I’ll admit I did find the first few chapters a bit hard going as the pace was slow and the chapters felt too long – This may have been down to the pacing. However, all that seemed to suddenly change and the pace picked up and the story became fully engaging and interesting. I was hooked.

The characters all held their own in the story and I especially loved the group of friends who had been friends since they were babies, The Mermaids – Sophie Potato, Victoria Plum, Nellie Melon and of course Clemmie Orangina. Yes, they all had nicknames.

The book is fun, light-hearted and the perfect summer read. It also contains some wonderful recipes at the back that you will be eager to try, well I know I am!

Humourous, lighthearted and picturesque!

The Little Cornish Kitchen is a sweet, engaging story that reminds us that sometimes it's nice to settle down, make roots, and have a place to call home.

The writing is polished and vividly descriptive. The setting is the idyllic St Aidan with its rugged coastline and sandy beaches. The characters including the kindhearted, spirited Clemmie, the handsome, helpful Charlie, and the adorably cute Diesel are unique, lovable, and fun. And the plot is an uplifting, charming journey about life, loss, love, family, friendship, reconnecting with the past, self-discovery, and happiness.

Overall, The Little Cornish Kitchen is an amusing, delightful tale with a splendid cast of characters, beautiful scenery, hilarious hijinks, delicious romance, and delectable treats that is undeniably the perfect choice for any sunny, summery day.

Thank you to Jane Linfoot, HarperImpulse, and Rachel's Random Resources for providing me with a copy in an exchange for an honest review.

So Clemmie is on a break from her job in Paris and returns to her grandmother apartment in St. Aiden, Cornwall. The apartment was left to Clemmie and it has been a long time since she last visited. She is in St. Aiden for only a few months but her childhood friends coerce and cajole her into setting up The Little Cornish Kitchen. Clemmie needs to raise money for repairs to the apartment and her business minded besties help her raise the much-needed money.

Oh this book should come with a warning of “Do Not Read On An Empty Stomach” as the macaroons, brownies, sorbets and the array of yummy-scrummy-umptious confectionary delicacies start to make an appearance.

The setting is something that definitely appealed to me, as some may be aware, I live in Cornwall and I always like to try to link a books setting to a place I may have visited, this one made me think of a couple of places straight away. This for me made the setting and more importantly the description of said setting work so well for me.

Now this apartment is so me and I could so easily see myself there, in fact can I go right now pleeeease  It is a mish mash of unmatcing crockery, cutlery and furniture with a balcony overlooking the sea, it sounds snug and magical and absolute perfection.

Oh! I should mention the story and characters as well. The story in some respects is basic but it has been so well put together that I simply fell in love with it.  Clemmie comes home, she is the only one of her friends who hasn’t settled and instead travelled. Her story has a twist and as the story unfolds you realise how her fabulous friends are, they’re supportive and totally brilliant, if a little quirky at times, a group you would definitely love to have a drink with and there would be tons of laughing.

So this is really Clemmie’s story, about how things over the years led her to a life of travel and not settle. But the move gives her something to think about, re-kindles memories and she discovers things that she hadn’t realised she could do or had even occured to her to do. Then there is a neighbour, ‘Well hello there’. He has a few hidden talents that would come in rather handy. I wasn’t too sure on his agenda, if you read the story you will know what I mean.

This was a great story and it ticked a lot of boxes for me; well written, great cast and wonderful descriptions. It was humorous at times and also had moments that had a little more of a serious side. Thoroughly enjoyable and a book that you can definitely loose yourself in, with a heartwarming, uplifting and generally a great ‘mmmmmm good, snuggly feel. This is one I would definitely recommend to readers who look for pure escapism and want a cracking read, even though it did leave me with cake withdrawal symptoms when I had finished  .

I have always loved janes book and she didn't disappoint at all full of fun an easy read and laugh out loud romantic and of cause about fun you really want to keep reading to see what happens a great read and lovely to be back in Cornwall you really think you are there. Jane has great characters and perfect countryside and lovely to hear about the food she cooks and imagine you are eating them. Great it has recipes in the back to extra bonus. Highly recommend this book to read.
Clemmie has been living in France for years but has to return to her home town of Cornwall after her grandmother has died. She reality doesn't want to return home but once she realises her mother has left her a cosy cottage but that it's in disrepair and learns it's under threat from the neighbour Charlie who is also a property developer and wants his hands on the cottage can she change her mind. She starts to get me,erioes of her childhood there and learns she can't leave the cottage when it needs her. She turns it into the little Cornish kitchen a boutique pop up pudding club so she can raise money for the repairs but sadly she keeps getting charmed by Charlie and he won't go away so does everything end up going wrong or can she be happy and save the cottage.
A great simple read and makes you think of the seaside.

Well I was craving macarons in the first few pages, and then moved onto sorbets, meringues, chocolate and more. To say this book is a treat for the tastebuds would be an understatement.

If this book doesn't make you incredibly hungry as you read it I would be surprised.

Even with a new cast of characters I loved being back in St. Aidan which the author has used for some of her previous books, and is a gorgeous Cornish setting.

I loved everything to do with Clemmie's story, from the not knowing her father, to learning to cook to all of her fellow mermaids (friends).

In fact I loved every second of this marvellous story. What a joy to read.

Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Impulse for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I was expecting a laid back funny romance, but what I got was so much more. Deeply buried among the stories of friendship, cooking and matchmaking is Clemmie's search for identity so profound and moving. With each page, the narrator softly peels the hard walls she has put up to reveal the softness inside. Well, a dead woman's undying love can surely work miracles.
The book will arouse a lot of nostalgic memories, mostly to do with food of course. Being a non-native reader, I had the disadvantage of not knowing many of the delicacies discussed. That being said, it won't stop your mouth from watering constantly, especially when you are constantly reminded of a granny like mine who has exceptional cooking skills.
Clemmie and Charlie might be the major characters, but my favourite bits are the moments with Diesel, the pet dog. And it has nothing to do with the fact that he harbingers Charlie ;) Then there are the other three mermaids -- Sophie, Nelly and Plum. It is hard to see a friendship this strong nowadays.

This is the first time I am reading a book by this author and I am definitely going to hunt for more. Considering the reviews she gets, I don't think she needs me to recommend her. So happy reading everyone!

I love Jane's books- they always have a lovely bunch of characters and wonderful settings with a gorgeous story weaving their lives together.
Clemmie has a break from her job in Paris and comes home to see the flat that she has been left by her grandmother. She had lost contact with her dad's side of the family and she is reluctant to view the flat which would involve commitment.
Her bubbly group of friends encourage her to pick up the keys and we are introduced to Laura's quirky, bohemian flat with lots of colours and accumulated life keepsakes dotted around.
She's introduced to her neighbour and his big boundy dog, as they share a balcony overlooking the sea. When Charlie lets her know that she will need a big pot of money to help pay the shared costs of a new roof, she needs to come up with a way to raise money.
When they find her grandmothers hamper of handwritten recipes, her friends convince her to set up a pop up event for all the singles of St Aiden. I absolutely loved the parts where she learns to cook with Charlie's help and the way the events take off along with some funny incidents.
Her group of friends all sound wonderful and they all throw themselves wholeheartedly into helping Clemmie keep her quirky little flat despite her having to overcome obstacles in the way. I wonder whether we might revisit the castle?
It's heartwarming and as Clemmie discovers various items in the flat her knowledge about her lost family begin to emerge.
I could picture myself curled up on the sofa, looking out on the ocean and nibbling on the latest culinary delights produced in the Little Cornish Kitchen. I loved this book.

I think I’m going to be really unpopular for my opinion of this book. But I didn’t enjoy it as much as Janes other books. I usually love her books. But I found this one really hard to get into. As I found the main character really hard to like and that put me off a bit. I did warm to her slightly. But I just found her stand offish and kinda mean to her friends. Although this book was funny and at times romantic. Not being able to connect with the main character really hankered my enjoyment. Sorry

A perfect summer read .. sweet, squidgy and thoroughly enjoyable!

Clemmie Hamilton grew up in St. Aiden, Cornwall where her three childhood friends still live but she has wanderlust and settling in one place is anathema to her soul. Clemmie likes to travel the world, travelling on as the spirit moves her.

This is only meant to be a fleeting visit while her employer in Paris is away but sometimes places, people - and pets - get under your skin. Her friends know better than to tell her what to do, but that doesn't mean they don't know how to be subtle, and they've always got her back!

This novel has the most beautiful setting - I defy anyone not to feel their heartstrings pull for the sound of the beach and a fabulous sea view! What really makes this story unmissable, though, is the superb writing and the skilfully crafted characters. Each with their own idiosyncracies, these women know each other through and through and that they still refer to each other by their childhood names is so cute and sweet! Talking of which, if you have a sweet tooth at all, this is the perfect read to satisfy it. My taste buds were salivating just reading about Clemmie's baking! On top of which, the recipes are included at the end - what's not to love? This is a polished tale with a delightful story line and I admit to having a tear in my eye and a rapid heartbeat towards the end .. that would be the totally perfect and beautiful ending. A definite five star read and one I recommend adding to your reading list!

My thanks to publishers Harper Impulse for my copy via NetGalley; also to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to be a part of this blog tour. This is my honest, original and unbiased review.

I’ve loved Jane Linfoot previous books featuring a group of friends who all were involved in The Little Wedding Shop by The Sea. So I was keen to meet her new set of friends back in the gorgeous Cornish coastal village of St Aidan’s as we are introduced to The Little Cornish Kitchen. Jane writes such sumptuous and scrummy romantic fiction and her strength is in creating believable and enviable relationships between her female characters so I was really looking forward to this book. The chemistry between this new group of friends grabbed me immediately so I straightaway got stuck into the story of Clemmie, who has returned to the sleepy village of her childhood from her “glamorous” job in Paris.

This is a deliciously sweet piece of romantic fiction that had everything I wanted-romance, family secrets and FOOD!! The descriptions of the cakes etc will have you drooling and rushing to your cookbooks but hang on till you reach the end as there is a little treat in store for you! And I’ve not even mentioned Diesel and Pancake yet who are the best pairing in this book…well, apart from Clemmie and her new neighbour Charlie of course! The exploits of this pair of reprobate pets had me laughing so loud and was a lovely way of bringing together some memorable moments in the storyline.

I flew through the pages of The Little Cornish Kitchen. I loved the setting, the friendships and the emotions evoked by the family secrets uncovered by Clemmie. Jane Linfoot always leaves me hungry for more (books PLUS food!) and I’m hoping this is the start of a new series of books as I would love to the meet the “mermaids” again.

Definitely recommended for fans old and new! Just don’t blame me if you come away with a serious meringue addiction too!

Aww, all books by Jane are a pleasure to read and this one is no exception, I am a little prejudiced of course because I live in beautiful Cornwall so I’m always proud to see my County in the limelight. We are back here again as Clemmie returns home .. she meets up with her old friends and makes acquaintance with the man who lives next door to the property her grandmother has left her.

Her immediate thought had been to sell the place after all she has a grand life in Paris, but memories of happier times are forming when she spots all the kitchen items and furnishings, after eyeing up Charlie a bit closer she debates whether staying might be an option. Of course owning a home comes with it’s responsibilities, if she wants to have the building and maintenance work done she is going to need to raise some ££ quickly. Herein lie the ideas and help from her friends .. begin baking and sell the goodies. It’s not a sensible idea to read The Little Cornish Kitchen if you are feeling a bit peckish, the recipes contained within are to die for!

I found Clemmie a bit hard to relate to at the beginning but she finally crept under my skin and I was urging her and Charlie to make a move .. as an animal lover you won’t be surprised to hear I took rather a liking to pets Diesel and Pancake.

This is the ideal story to read while you relax on your holidays, it has the required amount of cute, sweet, sighing, romance, humour dotted throughout to keep the reader happy. All a bit predictable but so long as it works out for the best then that’s fine with me for a light-hearted fluffy book. And of course being set in idyllic Cornwall you didn’t expect me to say much else .. did you!?

Thanks to the author, publisher, netgalley and Rachel from Random Resources for my copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Took a lot longer to get to the end than it really needed to. A lot of grammar and word placement errors towards the end that just made some sentences unreadable. But it was generally a nice story.

I don't think I've ever read a novel by Jane Linfoot before, and after recently finishing her newest book The Little Cornish Kitchen, I keep asking myself why! This story was amazing and I will honestly be reading much more by this author in future! First of all, how beautiful is this cover? The bunting is so cute, I love the sea in the background and all the pots and teapot in the front with the most amazing looking cake make such a stunning cover. I've been wanting to read this book since September last year, that's how much I love this cover!

The storyline was just as good. I started this novel when I was on holiday in Ireland so I didn't fully manage to get into the story until I was home. It took me around two weeks to finish this novel which I'm so, so surprised about because I loved it! The story follows main character Clemmie, who moves back home to Cornwall after her grandmother, Laura passes away and leaves Clemmie her very-much-loved flat which has the most amazing views of the sea.

Clemmie doesn't ever stay in one place, and she certainly doesn't make future plans, she's as free as a bird, and that's the way she wants it to stay. However, she soon falls in love with the flat and being back in St Aidan so her and her oldest bestest friends come up with an idea to help her raise the money needed to make much-needed renovations - and this is when The Little Cornish Kitchen is born! This is when Charlie comes into the story. Charlie lives next door and helps Clemmie with her baking, and you'll read all about chocolate brownies, strawberry tarts and delicious macaroons!

This is when I really fell in love with the storyline, I loved reading about Clemmie's baking, and the events that she put on, but I also loved reading about her relationships with the other characters - I loved reading about her old friends and I really enjoyed reading about Clemmie and Charlie's relationship. This really is a novel that pulls at all the heart strings - and it's also a novel which will make you very hungry!

Overall, an amazing novel by Jane Linfoot. I have some of her other books on my TBR pile and I will certainly be diving into them if they're anything at all like this one! Thank you to the publisher for a chance to read this novel via Netgalley, which I have reviewed honestly.

Having read this author’s books before I was pleased to see there was a new story out. The cover and blurb sounded so enticing that it just had to be read! Clemmie Hamilton has returned home to the little Cornish village of St Aiden after she discovered her grandmother has left her an apartment by the sea. She initially doesn’t want to stay (commitment isn’t really her thing!) but she eventually decides to stay in it for a while. It needs repairing, but she doesn’t have any savings. When she discovers her neighbour, Charlie is a property developer who wants to buy the apartment, Clemmie decides to try and raise the funds to do up the apartment herself. Finding her grandmother’s recipes and with the help of her friends, she sets up The Little Cornish Kitchen!

I’ve loved the author’s previous books and thankfully this one was just as enjoyable. For me, the story began slowly and it took a few chapters to get the interest in the story. This didn’t last long though, and I found myself getting more into the story as it went on, and by the end I was hooked. I’m a sucker for books set down this part of the country and thoroughly enjoyed the descriptions of the area – I can’t for the life of me work out why these characters don’t want to stay in places like this! Clemmie is a lovely character, despite her reluctance to settle down, and she has a great group of friends in the village who look after her and help her with the Kitchen venture!

The most enticing bit of the book has to be, of course, the food! The descriptions of the desserts were heavenly and it even had some recipes in the back of the book if you fancied trying making them yourselves! As I was reading, I was transported to food heaven, smelling and tasting the different foods – which became a bit of a disappointment when I realised I wasn’t actually there!

A fun, heart-warming, romantic read with the perfect happy ending! Would definitely recommend – just don’t read it whilst hungry!

Well, was this not just the cutest, although my only gripe....it made me so hungry! I have even gone hunting for macaroons, I mean opening the book and just reading about them...torture.....still salivating now.......anyway moving swiftly on!

This book is cute! The author has created a group of friends, the mermaids (and seriously I want to be a mermaid!) who have been friends since the nappy days, always there for each other and still firm friends in the adult years - I loved this.

We follow Clemmie, the free-spirited one, she doesn't want to be tied to a man or a house. She comes back to Cornwall for a paid holiday, to see her friends, and to sell a flat she had inherited. However, when the gorgeous broody Charlie wants to buy it from her, she has to make a decision and one that involved food and lots of it!!! What makes it worse is that Charlie and his gorgeous little dog, Diesel live right next door! There is just no escape for her.

With the sights of Cornwall, it was nice to read this book by the beach, soaking the sun and the sea, and I could have been sitting in Cornwall with the girls. Albeit not hungry, good thing I was reading on my lunch break. This book made me laugh a lot, want to go home and bake, and failing that just going buy everything in a bakery.

This is my first encounter with Jane and her stories, but I have had lots of her books on my TBR list for a while, I will need to change this and actually go and buy the book (Really sorry I have not done this before please don't be upset with me!!) I thought this story was fab and so heartwarming, and to be honest, there is enough to go around for another book maybe...and another.....and another?? What do you think Jane...no pressure :)

*Book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

It took me a really long time to get into this story. This fact actually took me by surprise, because I loved Jane Linfoot’s previous books. I somehow couldn’t connect to the storyline and the main character.

I really like the idea behind the book and after a while I started warming up to the community and people in St Aidan. My fave part was by far the story being set in Cornwall. I think the author captured that beautifully and in a very charming way.

I really wanted to like this book more, but there was something missing for me, especially from the main character.
There were a lot of funny, romantic and sweet moments in this book and these helped me a lot with the story.

Jane Linfoot actually had some little surprises in store for the reader and I’m really happy I finished the whole book. It’s warm and cozy and a wonderful summer read.

Do you want to visit Cornwall for the summer and drool over the most delicious sounding hunk desserts? Well, look no further because you can do all that between the pages of this lovely book.

Jane Linfoot's books really appeal to me, so much so that I have had a couple of them on my reading pile for a while now. But I was utterly seduced by the idea of The Little Cornish Kitchen. The popularity of Cornwall as a setting never seems to wane, and nor should it as it's a stunning area, often by the sea - perfect! And the kitchen bit spoke to me too as I love books about baking.

Clemmie is a free spirit. She's travelled far and wide but comes back to the little village of St Aidan in Cornwall to finally receive the legacy her grandmother, Laura, left to her years earlier: a gorgeous little flat in Seaspray Cottage with a balcony overlooking the sea. Already I'm almost weak at the thought of the beauty of the views. Add in her neighbour in the flat next door, Charlie Hobson, who happens to share the balcony, and life's getting a little more complicated for Clemmie and very interesting for me as a reader.

To make some money her friends come up with the idea to set up a pop-up kitchen in the flat and host singles nights and the like. Clemmie, who's not much of a baker, finds herself raiding Laura's recipes for delicious desserts such as lemon meringues, chocolate roulade and sorbets and she takes to it like a sugar addict to buttercream. The descriptions of the food in this book are absolutely mouth-watering and if you're so inclined there are recipes at the back so you can make some of your very own.

At times I wanted to shake Clemmie and tell her to open her eyes and see what's right in front of her. But any good romance has to have a bit of conflict before it all comes right. And it wasn't only romance where Clemmie buried her head in the sand as her family life was also a bit problematical as well. But she has a lovely group of friends to help her through it all and the friendships were one of the strongest things about this book, I thought.

I loved the pop-up kitchen - what a great idea! I do like to read books about people setting up businesses and succeeding and even more so when food is involved. I also adored Charlie. He's the strong and silent type but seems like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders sometimes. The bond that starts to develop between him and Clemmie is so lovely, so heart-warming, that it really made me smile.

In fact, this whole book is like that. It's a real pleasure from start to finish, it will make you hungry, it will make you happy and it will make you swoon a little bit. I thought it was fabulous.

As soon as I spotted the cover of Jane Linfoot's latest novel on social media, I just knew that I had to curl up and read it! Look at it, isn't it beautiful?! It has been a week or so since I last took a trip to Cornwall in my pyjama's, and despite having been to several trips to Cornwall in the fictional sense already this year, I was weirdly missing the rather popular setting!

Having loved Jane Linfoot's previous wedding series, I had very high hopes for 'The Little Cornish Kitchen'! I think I burst out laughing after just a few pages! One word - mermaids. Enough said. Obviously mermaids themselves aren't hilarious, but the way in which Jane Linfoot incorporated the majestic sea creatures into her storyline was brilliant and very funny. See for yourself!

I did really enjoy this book, and I am so pleased that I was able to lose myself in another of Jane Linfoot's addictive storylines. However, I found it very hard to relate to the main character and the storyline itself. I thought Clemmie's personality was very fiery and made for such fun reading, but I couldn't help feeling as though something was missing. For me, 'The Little Cornish Kitchen' had Jane Linfoot's trademark humour, her loveable way of writing, as well as her clever way of incorporating humour and depth into multiple situations - I just wished that I could get into it as quickly as I did her previous books.

I loved the fact that this author made my stomach rumble, despite sweet treats not being my go to thing, and I thought that her creation of multiple diverse characters was very well thought out.

'The Little Cornish Kitchen' is a very tantalising, colourful, and laugh out loud read which will make you feel like channeling your inner Mazza Bezza....or Paul Hollywood. Just make sure you don't leave a path for a dog....just saying!

Clemmie is finally back in St Aidan, her old hometown. She left Cornwall to travel and ended up living in Paris. Clemmie is a free spirit and putting down roots is something she thinks she'll never do. When her grandmother leaves her an apartment Clemmie decides to live in it for a while. However, she isn't sure she can keep the place, because she needs money for repairs and doesn't have any savings. Her neighbor Charlie is a property developer who would love to buy the apartment. Clemmie doesn't want that to happen and to save her family legacy she starts The Little Cornish Kitchen.

Clemmie makes delicious deserts that she serves on organized events. With paying guests her apartment is profitable, but will she earn enough to keep Charlie away from what she's slowly starting to see as her home? Clemmie has to be inventive, but she also needs help and Charlie is incredibly charming. While he's teaching her how to cook she finds out he has a nice side as well. Clemmie isn't in St Aidan to stay, she still has a job in Paris. Will her wanderlust win it from the joy of spending time with friends and family?

The Little Cornish Kitchen is a wonderful heartwarming story. I loved the idea of serving delicious food in a living room setting and could easily picture Clemmie's amazing place. She's a kind and generous person. Staying in the apartment makes her learn something about her family and it was interesting to find out more about her history. Whatever she discovers, she doesn't have to deal with anything by herself. Clemmie is never alone, she always has someone to fall back on. Clemmie's friends are there for her and I loved their bond. For me that was one of the most special parts of the story. Their connection is truly beautiful. Jane Linfoot combines fabulous friendship with gorgeous true love and that works very well.

The Little Cornish Kitchen is filled with delicious descriptions of the most mouthwatering deserts. I could easily picture Clemmie's creations. Jane Linfoot effortlessly sets a perfect atmosphere. I love it when a story makes me smile and The Little Cornish Kitchen has that great sunny feelgood factor. I really liked this tasty book, it's a fantastic captivating story with a sweet romantic ending.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Thank you to Harper Impulse for my copy of this book via Netgalley and to Rachel for letting me be part of this tour. I saw this book on Netgalley months ago but I just hadn't had the chance to read it so when I saw Rachel was organising a tour it was the perfect opportunity.

I'm going to say off the bat I really struggled with the beginning of this book. I found it was difficult to like Clemmie. I don't know why I just couldn't connect with her. The same for the mermaids and Charlie. The book clicked for me about 50-60% in. From then on I couldn't put it down. Looking back I don't know why I couldn't click but I'm glad I didn't DNF. The second half of the book was a lot more engaging and made up for the struggles at the beginning.

Charlie turns out to be quite the guy when you get to know him. He's been through a lot and he's not exactly what he seems at first. I kinda fell for him just a tinsey bit (A LOT).

Clemmie and the mermaids found a way under my skin and into my heart. With their singles nights and their crazy lives I actually really learned to like them.

This book made me extremely hungry. I was constantly thinking about food throughout it. I would recommend you do some baking before sitting down with this one.
