Vicky, my annoying sidekick, had gone slightly deranged, my daughter was off with the faeries, literally, and I was frazzled as my insomnia worsened.

But who could turn down a job when the payout was so great? Not this wizard.

The job was easy, some might say too easy, and that made me nervous. For good reason. Something was out there, and it really wanted what I'd taken.

The Hat lives by a Code though, and once he does a job he always delivers. As secret organizations do their best to thwart me, vampires use me as their plaything, and I stress about my life and my future, or lack of, I wonder whether I should call it a day and just go do some gardening.

Who am I kidding? I love this stuff, and I will not back down, even if God himself gets involved. Which he very well might.

Angel Trouble

Arthur “The Hat” Salzman is back in the fourth installment in the Wildcat Wizard Series. Finding himself ever further in the employ of the vampires currently lead by Ivan (formerly “Brains”) Arthur can’t catch a break. Just as one job is completed and all he wants is about a week’s worth of rest he and Vicky are sent to retrieve a book of particular importance to Mikalus. Getting the book was easy… too easy, and that’s what worries Arthur. The more he tries to deliver his current package the more he realizes that this will not be easy as the book has not only garnered the attention of the vampires, but also Cerberus and an impossibly scary and relentless angel. Arthur has his hands full as he attempts to complete his current task without being killed in the process.

“Angel Eyes” is the fourth in the Wildcat Wizard series of books by Al. K. Line and this one is chock full of magical action as we would expect, but this time we also have a dash of drama thrown in. A few details of Vicky’s home life momentarily takes center stage, and it’s not pretty. Arthur suddenly finds himself playing host to a house full of females as Vicky and her girls come to stay for a while until her situation can be figured out. The insertion of Vicky and the sprogs into Arthur’s sanctuary makes for some of the funnier portions of the book. Poor Arthur’s clean, serene sanctuary is turned into chaos overnight and the resulting stress on the Hat is amusing. I also really like how Arthur goes into a little of his personal history regarding how he became a wizard and who he learned the tricks of his trade from. This, for me was a much-needed back story piece to help further understand what makes the Hat tick. Where the story ends, there is a lot of potential for the next book be either really sappy, really violent or both. Considering that the working title for book 5 is “Honor Bound” I am hoping that it’s a combination of both.

I am a big fan of Mr. Line’s and I’m always glad to see a new book. In this installment, Arthur “The Hat” is doing what he normally does, stealing items for money. This time, however, things are going terribly wrong and someone powerful is after him. In the meantime, his personal life just got complicated to add to his stress. How will he get out of this one? Arthur is by far my favorite character of any written by this author. I just love how Mr. Line makes him so fun, capable, and kick-butt, and he is his usual great self in this book. And, let’s not forget Vicky. She is an interesting character, and she changes a little bit because of events in this book. I’m not really sure I’m going to like these changes, but I’m open to see where we go. I did wish we got to see George and Sasha a little more, but to be fair, they weren’t essential to the plot. There wasn’t much action as there is normally, but there were quite a few changes in this one. I am interested to see what’s going to happen next. I loved how the book ended, and I can’t wait to see where it will take Arthur in the future. Highly recommend! Thanks to the author for the e-copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Angel Eyes is the fourth book in the Wildcat Wizard series by Al K. Line. The complete series is available in a boxset, twelve books for the price of one #winning. What a great way to get your book-binge on.
The Wildcat Wizard Complete Collection Box Set contains the entire Wildcat Wizard series by Al K. Line. It is an epic, original, and intriguing urban fantasy series - woven with wizards, vampires, magic, paranormal elements, action, adventure, mystery, suspense, danger, drama, humour, heists, quests, the supernatural, and interesting quirky characters.
The Hat is a great character, he’s a bit of an anti-hero, as he gets caught up in quite an adventure (or two) with a few heists, mobsters, criminals, villains, and dangerous and dramatic developments to contend with. Along with his fairy godmother, they take us on quite a ride- one you won’t forget anytime soon.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Al K. Line!

Arthur “The Hat” Salzman has his hands full in "Angel Eyes", fourth in the 'Wildcat Wizard' series. All he has to do is steal a magical book and deliver it to Ivan. The theft proves easy, the delivery not!
Vicky's home life comes to the fore, proving once more that there is more to his sidekick than meets the eye. And we learn a little detail about Arthur's journey into wizardry (it involves getting hit in the face a lot!).
If there is one thing that becomes clear in this excerpt from Arthur's life is that you really should not get in the way of an angel on a mission. Of course Arthur is not one to take his own advice.
It's another wild ride in a series that just keep getting better and better.

A great series

For the very reasons others have felt this book to be the weakest in the series, I found this to be the best. Character development and backstory and not just rushing around kiling bad guys, although there is some of that. Plenty of scope to move forward and still plenty more to learn about the Hat.
