Emma knows that Luke is everything her fiancé wasn’t- he’s kind, considerate, affectionate, and wants nothing more than to make her happy. But now that she has finally escaped her nightmare, she must decide if she is ready for all of her dreams to come true.
it was cute and all, but the end? it suddenly was HEA! a bit shocking - and rather astouding, i actually checked a few times if i missed something. But no, there was all this build up and then... ok that's it, HEA. the end Pity. I think this could have be better with a few extra pages.
Falling for Denver (Reckless Hearts Novella) By: Hunter J. Keane 3/5 stars
Emma Ellis hates snow in Chicago. It’s all dirty, salt-ridden & smoggy. She has a soul-sucking job that she wants to quit and a fiancé she has been with all through high school, college and even after graduation. But over the course of the last year, something has just been off with their relationship and they just haven’t been as connected. Everything starts to make sense, when after being fired from her job & spending the afternoon in a bar, she catches her fiancé with another woman. Everything comes crashing down.
Luke Denver inherited his family’s ski resort in Utah and has also been in love with Emma (from afar) since they were in college. When she reaches out to him about applying for an open position at the resort, plans are made and Emma has not only a new job, but also a place to live. Which happens to be right next door to Luke, in his grandparents’ former house.
While this was a cute novella, it left me wanting & questioning. And then it was wham, bam, HEA! I needed more for this to not only be believable but also to get the full effect of their love.
I understand that this is a Novella, but there could have been some kind of romance toward the end of the book. The beginning of the book gave you a look into Emma and Jared's relationship. It gave you a look into how she came to know Luke Denver, then it just fell flat. I wanted to like it but couldn't
This book starts out ok, but it goes steadily goes downhill from there. Towards the end it was so rushed that it gave me whiplash! Not worth the time or effort.
3.25 stars. Not bad for a novella, but it would have been nice to shorten the time spent before the main characters meet up so they could have had more time together. Rushed.
