Adapting to her new role as princess of the Seelie court, Charlotte makes an official visit to the Un-Seelie court, home to the underworld rift. The Un-Seelie ruler, King Markus, is everything her new Fae family is not: reserved, dark, and secretive.
Once magicless, Charlotte is now brimming with power and in desperate need of training. The commanding Un-Seelie king manipulates her into wielding her magic, forcing her to fight past her doubts, and her gift with shadows and flame.
But when Charlotte’s greatest fears come true, she must draw on all her new knowledge to fight for her world, and to piece together all that was lost.
Wonderful follow up to Prime. The story of Charlotte and Callan continues with their family in tow. The stakes are higher than before but Charlotte is not the same human girl she once was. This is a very action-packed book with a unique system of magic and original storyline. I look forward to continuing the story with Reckoning.
Thoughts: Wow, just as good as the first one! I still LOVE Charlotte and all her snarkiness. And I still call dibs on Callan and Dane. The characters seem so real and I can’t wait to join them again in the next book. The kids are badass geniuses and still way too young to be so mature but it just makes you love them all the more. If only there were a way to jump into this world, I’d be all over it. I am loving it!
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work and chose to write a review.
I totally loved Prime, the first book in Carrie Whitethorne Riftkeepers series and have been looking forward to book 2. Well, look no further, it’s here and Pursuit (Riftkeepers Book 2) was definitely worth the wait. The lead, Charlotte, is as wonderfully snarky as ever, even though she’s now a freakishly powerful princess of the Seelie court. The characters, from Charlotte (of course) to Callan and Dane to the wonderfully crafted Un-Seelie king Markus, are a blast, and the plot is simply superb. It’s filled with everything needed to be totally life absorbing (my life in this case - I couldn’t put it down and ended up doing a virtual all nighter which made work “interesting” the next day).
