This is book 6 in Mike Ryan’s The Silencer series. These are best read/listened to in order, events in this book build off of what happened earlier in the series, and this is best enjoyed after books 1-5. This review may contain spoilers to previous books.

Recker and Mia are moving in together and it’s making Recker restless. Jones thinks he’s finally found the perfect 3rd for their team. I liked the addition of the new character as well as the balance between interpersonal and action scenes. This one actually had two different “missions” and it was a cool chance to see the new member, Haley show his skills.

Recker lands in big trouble which leads Jones to make a big ask – and now the team owes someone from their past. I really like the way Ryan developed this. I enjoy that while these are shorter (about 5 hours) – they still offer a lot in terms of mystery, suspense, and thriller elements. It’s also fun to get to know these characters as the series continues.

Narration:
Brian Hutchison continues to be a great fit for the series. I love that he gave Haley a unique voice along with all the distinctions he makes between the characters. It really ads depth to the story and makes it easy to always keep track of the dialogue. Easy listen.

Book 6 of The Silencer series continues with a new character and new dangers. Recker finds himself arrested and needs the help of an unusual group to get him out of it. This series has a lot of twists and turns and does not disappoint.

Mike Ryan's Silencer series felt a little like comfort food as I read the sixth "Double Tap." I looked forward to losing myself into the world of Mike Wrecker and David Jones. Mia becomes the girlfriend, but her appearance remains almost an afterthought. She becomes more background, an indication Ryan's elevating Wrecker to a new normal. He can love. He can allow himself to be loved. And Jones finds him a partner, another former special ops agent who can't seem to figure out what he wants in the civilian world. But Chris Haley isn't Wrecker. He's not a triple tap and done kind of cleaner. He's no stranger to getting the job done, but he appears to see a world punctuated by greater shades of gray, cyan and magenta. The pairing yields an impressive scene as the pair try to thwart a robbery in progress. But they can't allow casualties. And that's Wrecker's thing. The climax is tied to mob boss Vincent, who Wrecker has worked with over the years. Vincent hasn't been shy about paying him back for favors either. Ryan ended this I think holding back a little. As the fiery conclusion approaches, I get the impression Ryan dreamed up an entirely new sequence of events involving Vincent. And this one was just the preamble. Or not. But the build up was impressive. We got to see more of Vincent and his right hand man. Of course, I'd love to see more from our CIA contact. She was impressive. Anyway, I'll be waiting for the next one. Then read it in a couple sittings and write more comments.

Episode 6 introduces us to Chris Haley, the new Silencer who joins Mick Recker. He’s unknown to the people who know about Mike. David wants to keep Chris quiet. So this episode shows what he can do, working alone and working with Recker.

That’s it. They have 3 close calls, where Recker needed the backup and then a bigger operation (which was not THAT big)! Silencer bonding. The End. (Btw: Mia is still tedious ).

I listened to the audiobook version of this title. Probably the best way to devour this series. It’s still a TV episode to me, so the audio version lends itself to a production.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audio book of this title from within the series set box. (Audible.com.au)

With a new member to their team, the take downs become a little more extensive, but there's still a definite element of risk. Luckily, they have friends that are willing to help in exchange for their own problems being solved.

I didn't want to put it down.

The bad guys better look out as Recker and David are hot after the bad guys. Recker's love life appears to improve as well as Mia's and the crime fighting duo make a long thought out change.
All in all an enjoyable read!

4.0 ⭐: - Enjoyed the introduction of the new "Silencer". The humor with the Professor and Recker, especially pertaining to his "Mia" situation was pretty entertaining as well. A bit slower than past books, but the new character introduction took a while.

This was a really good read. I thought it would go a certain direction but the author did a great Jo sending the story another direction. I am glad the story went the way it did with crime boss Vincent considering the strained relationship with gang leader Jeremiah previously. Also, new Silencer member Chris Hailey is quickly becoming a great fit and asset to the team! Well done.

Good series

I really like Mike Ryan's writing. He really keeps your attention with lots of action but he is not gory or ride with his stories.
