4 Amy and Chris Stars

ARC received from author with thanks. This is my honest review.

I have loved the Monroe family books from the very start so I was really excited to begin this new series about the Adamson family. We met Chris Adamson in previous Monroe books and his character intrigued me, so the thought of him and his siblings having their own series certainly captured my attention.

I already liked Chris's character, and having also briefly met Amy before, I thought it might take me a while to warm up to her. Amy surprised me - I really liked her and I was rooting for her. It was Chris that annoyed me. Whatever had happened between them in the past - these two were married young but then their relationship was blown apart and 15 years have elapsed - the way Chris spoke to her at times was awful.

Although this is a book about the Adamson's , the Monroe's feature pretty heavily and I think you would struggle a bit with their past relationships/ connections if you haven't read the first series.

Brooke and Dylan are famed for their dinners where everyone attends and I'm telling you now, there is a dinner scene in here that imploded on itself and actually made me wince. OMG. It. Was. Intense. And very, very memorable....

Ms Dykes has written a book that has delicious angst and hot passion. If you’re all about Second Chance Romance then grab this one and be prepared for one hell of an emotional roller coaster. I am looking forward to more from all these guys. The epilogue (which was great) hints at many more great things to come.

I am such a huge fan of Nicole Dykes and her writing just gets better and better with each new book.

This story is a spin off of the Monroe Series and while you don't need to read that series to read this one I do suggest that you do as it is just as amazing.

Chris the hot tattoo artist that can't catch a break as we have read from his appearances in the Monroe series he is always the odd man out and he finally gets his story and man what a story!!!

His past comes back to his not so happy eyes and well his anger is formidable. Amy and Chris, you could cut the tension with a knife and I knew that there was more to the story after all there are always two sides to everything right ?

I loved this book, the angry exchanges, the pain that they both seem to have, the glimpses back to the beginning of their relationships and the story to their ultimate demise. Let's just say when you find out what really happens you'll want to jump right into the book and cut someone.

What I love about these books from Nicole Dykes is that you find yourself surrounded by these people that are such a family even though they aren't all actually related. They weave their way into your hearts and you can't help but fall in love with all of them. I've said this before about her books especially the Monroe series and now this spin off. I would totally love to see this as a tv show I would be watching it every single week without fail.

I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I could not wait to delve into this story, so I could get to the reason why this relationship blew apart. I was surprised with how sad I felt for both of them. This was definitely one of the best second chance at love stories I have read. It was intense, with a roller coaster of emotions, with loads of drama and a whole lot of sexiness. I look forward to more.

*Note: I am new just like Amy meeting the Monroes and don't know anybody's story*

"You're a completely different person."
"Yeah, well betrayal does that."

Ouch! I know harsh right? So how did the girl next door, boy likes girl-girl likes boy, childhood sweethearts and blissfully married Amy and Chris become broken hearted and filled with hate?

My body turns on me and my cock hardens in my jeans at this blonde siren's words. I hate that my body still wants her. If I hate her, my body should too. That should be the rule.

Chris and Amy have always been there for each other, dealing with their latest family drama and becoming more than friends, becoming teenagers trying to figure out who they are. Chris's feelings become hard to hide as he watches Amy change from the tom-girl to 'the girl' and soon Amy can't deny her feelings for Chris anymore.

"I wanted your first date. Hell, Amy, I want all your dates all the way up to the very last one."

But fate does throw a spanner in the works, Chris is forced to move away with his mum and new husband and younger sister Evie. Taking him away from his brother's Levi and Philip, his strained relationship with his father and most importantly his true love Amy. Even when they cool off their relationship, it doesn't stop them from seeing one another in the holidays with emotions that collide together. Mistakes are made and forgiven. Soon Chris is about to start the job of his dreams and wants the girl of his dreams to be right there with him...it doesn't take much convincing for Amy to say the magic word.

We climb the stairs together. Two kids, hopelessly in love. As long as we have each other, the darkness can never take over.

Let's skip forward 15 years...

"Just stay away from me. I'm not interested in finding out who you are now. I want nothing to do with you."

Micheal Monroe is in bad shape after a recent car crash and Shriller knows just the physical therapist to call. Unfortunately for Chris, this is the last person he wants to see and makes his feelings very clear when he comes face to face Amy again. They can't ignore the fact they feel the attraction towards each other- not that they make that feeling known of course. All Chris feels is betrayal, holding onto the anger and wanting box away the painful memories that are resurfacing. Chris may be lone wolf as Jax says, but somewhere along the book series he's become apart of the Monroe clan and he can't avoid every meal where his ex-wife will be present.

It's like they hold on tight to anyone they allow into their family and don't let go.

I'm a poison? As if his hatred hasn't poisoned my soul?

Amy carries a heavy heart but she has a job to do and wants to avoid Chris as much he wants her gone from his life again. She's not the same fragile girl and has grown into a no bullshit beautiful woman. Amy tries to fill the void in her life with poor choices and hates the nagging feeling that her heartthrob ex-husband has marked her in more ways than ink...

"Fuck you." His voice is breathy and quiet.
"You'd love to." It's a challenge. I've always been able to challenge him, and this is no different.

So, what the hell happened?!

Well, grab your "girly food" because your going to need it with the wave after wave of emotions that Nicole puts you through!

It was becoming clear from the start that I was going to like this story, having never read this series or anything from Nicole before I wanted to get pulled into the world of Monroe and Adamson family and believe me I was.

"Neither one of you have settled down for a reason." Now Jax is in my business too. Christ, they are worse than chicks. "You've been thrown into each other's lives again for a reason. And into ours. And we're meddling motherfuckers that don't give up."

I loved family connections, I could read between the lines getting a feel for each of the characters, their strong personalities shiny through each page and feeling the bond between the two main characters Chris and Amy. They really told their story and nice addition going back in time throughout the story knitting it all altogether. It was filled with great one liners, emotion that had you gasping, your imagination going wild, smiling next and then holding your breath again in the same chapter <3

"I'll always hold onto you."
"And I'll never let you go."

Mistaken is the first book in the The Adamson Family Series by Nicole Dykes.

"The light that burns bright in the middle of the murky blackness around me."

I won this book on a Facebook group randomly. This was my first book by Nicole and I am hooked. I can't wait to read more from her. I came to read this book with absolutely no expectations and with an open mind. I fell in love.

"There is a piece of me that will forever live with her."

Chris Adamson is a sexy-as-sin tattoo artist. He is a successful tattoo shop owner. He is broody and has a take no crap attitude. But it seems like luck is not on his side as his past came by and bulldozed in his current easy-going life. Amy Sullivan is a well sought out physical therapist so when she was called by her good friend Shriller, she immediately moved to Kansas City to help him. Amy is sweet, confident, and understanding, but she realizes that her past is right in front of her, she begins to regret her decisions.

"Chris will always possess a part of me, I'm bound to him forever."

The banter between Chris and Amy was swooning and so perfect. Amy's smart mouth combined with Chris's ability to deliver it right back was refreshing and fun. This was full of angst but it was a good flow through out. The family connections was lovely and it strengthen the development of the book. I can't wait to read more from Nicole Dykes.

What a fabulous continuation of the Monroe extending family. Chris is the intense tattoo shop owner that tried to have a relationship with Alex only to lose to Schriller. What we learn is that he married the love of his life as a teenager and then divorced her over the ultimate betrayal. He has carried this hole in his heart for 15 years. When Amy ends up in Kansas to be Michael’s physical therapist, he suddenly is forced to face his past. Amy has worked for years to move past the loss of Chris but can’t forget her first love. She never expects to see Chris in Michael’s hospital room. She works to stay professional and out of his way but the Monroe’s make that hard as they meld Amy into the fold. I must admit, I was dying to know the details of what happened that drove them apart after getting the overview. I doubted but I wasn’t prepared for the real story. It made me sad that they lost 15 years of an amazing love but it gives me hope that forgiveness can be found. Truly an incredible rollercoaster of emotion with all the intense drama and sexiness I expect from the Monroe clan. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Chris is the owner of a highly successful tattoo shop and he is the one everyone is always fixing up in fact I felt like he was a spoiler to be honest but there is more to Chris's story than we knew. When Amy gets a call from Shriller to come and help get Michael on his feet she puts her feelings aside and goes to do the job but Chris is mad. Apparently Chris and Amy have a past and it's not a good one if you are still mad after fifteen years but Amy is bound to be there for at least a few months and her presence will cause Chris to stay away. Well when the Monroes take you as part of the family there is no staying away or fighting they stand behind you right or wrong even though they may think your wrong. Michael needs a lot of help after his injuries and Amy is good at what she does so she just keeps going whether her heat is breaking along with mine. If you have never read any of the Monroe series get your tissues cause your gonna need them and if you have read some of the other stories you are going to want to punch something first then cry.
I requested this book for free from the author and I have chosen to review it

Mistaken is the spinoff of the wildly popular The Monroe Family. I really liked Chris from the earlier books and was excited to see him get his own book. I absolutely was blown away by this book, Nicole Dykes just gets better and better as a writer. She is one of the best when it comes to angst filled love stories, the feels in this one is off the charts!!
Chris owns a tattoo shop and has a fairly good life. He married hi high school sweetheart and that imploded quickly. A betrayal like that is hard to forget. Amy is the physical therapist that is in charge if getting Michael back after his accident.
OMG!! The chemistry is explosive with these two, who obviously still love each other. The twists and revelations really hit you in the feels!! I didn't see them coming! I laughed, cried and yelled at my kindle! I absolutely loved this book!!

I finished reading Mistaken by Nicole Dykes, which I need to thank the author for giving me the chance to read and review her work.

I have to say the relationship between Chris and Amy is... entertaining. Between the angst, the passion and the funny banter, I was entertained the whole way through.
However, I found the beginning very difficult to get into and I had to force myself to keep on reading until three quarters in, when it started getting good.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I think what made hard was that there was too many characters at the beginning. Which I later found out is from a different series.
Should I have read the other books before this one? Probably.

A story of love, pain, regrets and a nice HEA.
This is a spin off series from the Monroe family series. The style is a little different as we get a lot of flashbacks. This is Chris's story and an introduction to his family. I will say I loved Chris in the Monroe series. After I learned his story I will admit I was a little disappointed in him. He missed 15 years due to his stubbornness. I was also a little mad at his family. I think they all should have tried a lot harder! I felt the ending was a little rushed. that being said, the new characters and their stories have the potential to continue to be fabulous and to have us reading for a while yet.

A young love gone wrong.
Chris is madly in love with Amy. They marry when they are barely 18 but it doesn’t last long. The stubbornness that they both have leads to them living many years apart before they find out, that lies, deception and not listening to each other when they should have could’ve saved them all that time they missed out on.
Its a great story with twists and turns you never expect. Definitely gunna recommend to friends and family.

I really enjoyed reading about Chris and Amy. If you love hot romance or love Nicole's Monroe series you're sure to love this one too. The characters are flawed and real and I found myself routing for them. It's great to see other characters you know weaved into the story too.

I’m in love with this book, and can’t wait to read more into the lives of Amy and the Adamsons. ❤️ The passion for this book was truly reflected in the way that Nicole’s words beautifully sketched into the love, drama, and hope between Amy and Chris.

Another belter of a book

After reading Nicole's Monroe family books I got this one and was definitely not disappointed! I love the way that one family has brought all these other people into play.
I know everyone says "page Turner" but I defy anybody to pick up one of Nicole's books and stop reading before the end!

What happens when u don't want to hear the other side of the story?
When Chris and Amy marry young they think they have their whole life's ahead of them but one night everything changes. Chris doesn't want excuses and Amy can't get him to listen!

I loved this second chance romance! It wasn’t your typical story which I loved.

Amy and Chris were everything to each other, including their firsts for many things. Nothing could keep them apart until one night..
Fifteen years later Chris is not over the past and wants nothing to do with Amy. Amy is just trying to Help a friend and didn’t even want to see Chris again. Nothing ever works the way you want it to though..
When you throw them together and their secrets nothing good can come from it... Maybe..

I highly recommend this book.

The Adamson series by Nicole Dykes! Guys, I’ve fallen in love with Nicole’s writing and then I was given the option to read and review this series. From the moment I read the prologue of book one, I was instantly HOOKED!

Mistaken follows the story of Chris and Amy and it is a rollercoaster for sure! From the minute I read the prologue up until the epilogue, I was captured. This story gave me all the feels, every single emotion, and had me wanting more even when it was all said and done. It’s a good thing you catch glimpses of them in the rest of the books because Chris and Amy STOLE my heart and never really gave it back.

Chris and Amy is a friends to lovers, second-chance romance that has you riding on a rollercoaster full of emotional instability. Yea, I said it…

Amy captured me in a way unlike most heroines. She is a spitfire and knows exactly what she wants. Her past with Chris haunts her, especially with the way their relationship ended. And I can see why she is the way she is. Then there is Chris. Who had me wanting to punch him on several occasions. Okay, more than punch, I really wanted to kick him in the balls and see how it felt. But once I got more of their backstory, I felt for him. Until I realized he DIDN’T KNOW THE WHOLE STORY! UGH! Not only did he lose the love of his life, but his brother as well… FOR FIFTEEN YEARS!

When fate brings them back together, Chris refuses to let the past catch up with him. Amy is just trying to do her job and then go back home. But push comes to shove and the tension between them is just too undeniable. It’s so thick, you could cut it with a dull butter knife. When Chris finally pulls his head out of his rear and gets the FULL story, you can see the wall he built around his heart fully crumble.

Their second chance is beautifully tragic when all the pieces of the puzzle finally come together. I would have liked for the person responsible for them originally falling apart to have more come at her, but hey, you can only ask so much.

Chris and Amy will tear you apart and put you back together in a way that makes it hard to get past their story. Like I said, I wanted more… and thank goodness for standalone novels within a series because you get more of them in snippets throughout the rest of the series.

I absolutely loved this story!! It was a phenomenal read and a great spin off from the Monroe family series (that didn't really feel like a spin off). This story is definitely entwined with the Monroe family and it picks up where Undone stops. Amy comes to Kansas city to help out Michael Monroe after he has a horrible accident. He needs help mentally as well as physically and Amy believes that they go hand in hand for the most part. Chris has been adopted into the Monroe family and so while he might want to stay away in order to avoid Amy, his ex-wife, they won't let him. It forces them to be around each other and while they fight it all they can, they can't avoid their feelings and past with each other. I thought this story was written very well! I was drawn in from beginning to end and like all other Nicole Dykes books that I've read, I wasn't ready for it to end. I wanted more of Chris and Amy, along with the rest of the Monroes. The sexual tension is high between them and while the sex is explicit, it isn't often. The sexual tension plays a large part in the story because it forces them to acknowledge things that they would otherwise rather pretend didn't exist. There are also quite a few little twists in this story, details that I didn't quite see coming the way that they did. While you can read this book on its own, you will definitely get more enjoyment out of it, bonus, if you have read the Monroe series books. I can't wait for the next book with the Adamsons or the Monroes.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I was late to the game on reading the Monroe series, of which I've only read one book and loved. So I was really excited to get my hands on the first book in this new series about the Adamson family. And it was everything I could have hoped!

Chris Adamson hasn't always had the best of luck, but he has a good life: he's a tattoo artists, owns a successful shop, has good friends and a steady stream of women ready and willing to please him. But when visiting a friend who's had an accident he unexpectedly comes face to face with the woman that broke his heart. Fifteen years may have passed, but soon they realize that time doesn't heal old wounds. Time also apparently does nothing to quell the desire they have for one another.

Although this book is a spinoff of the Monroe series, you don't need to previously have read them to understand this book. I have myself only read one previous book and didn't ever feel lost.

This book had it all: a fantastic family dynamic, great angst and scorching passion between Chris and Amy. As always there was the great banter that Nicole Dykes seems to be fantastic at infusing into her books. The story pulled me in and the characters were so real that was completely invested and felt like I was a part of their world and didn't want to leave it. I'm so excited for what's to come with this series and to read more from Ms. Dykes.

I loved this story so much! When young love is put to the test and mistakes are made, lives get damaged. So what can help bring them back together after all these years? Schriller The Thriller of course! A Monroe family tragedy will throw these two back together and maybe this time they fix their mistakes. Awesome story that introduces us to a whole new family with their own problems with love! This is a must read! It can be read as a stand alone, but do yourself a favor and read all Nicole Dykes Monroe family books!!!!!

Merged review:

Outstanding

As part of a spinoff from our favorite Monroe Family series, we get to finally find out what happened to our beloved Chris and his Ex! The Adamson Family is going to blow your minds and make you crave more. Young love and a mistake over 15 years ago? So when one of the beloved Monroes is hurt and in need of help these two are thrown back together as Schriller calls for the best help he knows. Mistakes, love, sex and that one night. Read this story! Do It!!!

I'm a huge fan of the Monroe series but I've been waiting for this story so bad. Chris has been burned multiple times including by his ex wife, Amy. I knew there was more to the story then just the little bit we've been told. This story is full of drama, of course, the Monroes and a whole lot of hatred. Let's just say Chris and Amy's met doesn't go well. We get to see a side of Chris we haven't saw before. I must say I loved the flashbacks when Chris and Amy were young and so in love. It has to be my favorite part. A stupid misunderstanding tore them apart but once the truth comes out, they find they still have the passion and love for each other. I absolutely loved this book!! It has a little angst and you want to throat punch a bitch by the end of it. I can't wait to know the rest of the Adamson's family. Nicole has wrote an amazing book with characters you can easily fall in love with!
