I really enjoyed this book because she takes you through the whole process of equipment you need to bake bread, equipment you could pick up if you like, and the recipes are easy to understand. She inspires confidence into the reader with her encouragement and thoroughness of the material.
Author freebie. My grandmother had 23 kids and was a cooking machine. She once made 8 loaves , and they all disappeared in 24 hours. This author has the basics down pat. If you are training a child who makes soggy dough? My grandmother would use a bundt pan with a hole in the middle.
This is basic information for beginners, as the title states. Gives a history of bread and its evolution over time, as well as good info on how to become more confident with the detail of creating several different type of loaves and other flour based recipes. Was about a hour and half read.
How about BREAD MAKING For Dummies"? I have made many loaves of bread, some came out better than others. This book helped me develop the courage to venture past a basic loaf. Worth purchasing a hard copy!
I was sorely disappointed in this book. The recipes for white bread all contained sugar, which made the bread have the taste and texture of cake. Very disappointing.
This is a great resource for those just starting to make bread. It was laid out clearly and efficiently with all the necessary info needed about where to start and the science behind bread making.
This book is pretty thorough and looks easy to follow. I recommend it. Although the book is short, it contains everything you need to know to make various types of breads.
