The light novel scene, especially the English language one, has been completed taken over by isekai stories and those few that won't fit in the 'adventure in another word' category have heavy scifi or fantasy elements. So it feels really refreshing to have a story set in the real world without any super natrual stuff, but still with the manga-esque story telling one expects from a light novel.
