Many a true word is spoken in jest. ~English proverb

In our author’s words: It was not my most absurd story (see Seven Brandies), but I do have to admit it was a pretty close second.

I knew as soon as the Colonel entered the story this wasn’t “Seven Brandies” – in that story the Colonel’s given name was Aloysius and that isn’t his name here: ergo a different story!

But – fair warning -- the Colonel’s name is again unique. (When did Doctors begin giving women chloroform during labor? Is it possible his Mother was still under the influence when she chose these names? Or was his Father deep in his Brandy when he named the child?)

Humor is reason gone mad. ~Groucho Marx

Reason goes mad when Anne de Bourgh visits Elizabeth Bennet at the parsonage. At least, the doorbell goes mad … and the housemaid … and the visitors …

In order to explain the “plot” I would have had to understand the plot and that I can’t claim. In the end, many Bennet sisters plus one marry in a very large wedding.

ODC (our dear Colonel) explains it: My great theory was that for any man of sense and education, or even Bingley, it did not matter which Bennet sister happened to fall on you.

The Colonel tests his theory and it turns out – he’s right!

The satirist shoots to kill while the humorist brings his prey back alive and eventually releases him again for another chance. ~Peter De Vries

So … Wade H … we are brought back alive and ready for the next shot.

An innocent call to the parsonage to warn of her cousin's future possible proposal. What could possibly go awry?!

This is a fantastic, cleverly written, witty account of the events surrounding a specific night in Hunsford parsonage, when more than one unexpected visitor comes calling with unforeseen consequences for all concerned! Highly recommended! 😊

“Things never go wrong at the moment you expect them to. When you’re completely relaxed, oblivious to any potential dangers, that’s when bad things happen.” C. K. Kelly Martin, I Know It’s Over

What fun!! I certainly enjoy reading WadeH’s quirky sense of humor. He takes comedic relief to a whole new level. All the parts are there from canon… I just never thought to take them on this journey.

We are at the Hunsford parsonage and as with canon, Lizzy hears the bell and Darcy enters the room. Soon we hear the bell and Anne de Bourgh enters the room and all you-know-what happens after that as time after time the bell rings and another enters into the small parlor.

We are presented with different perspectives and points-of-view and everyone with their half-baked crazy assumptions and conclusions that are totally wrong. It is hilarious watching them assume they know what is going on and that they know the scoop of things. I loved this and each time the bell rang… I moved a little closer to the edge of my seat wondering who was at the door. I never got it right. I would then laugh at the antics of the new visitor and watch as holy-heck broke out. I just shook my head in amazement at the crazy antics from our author. Well worth the read. It is only 10 short chapters and an epilogue which was a hoot.

Oh, my! What a loopy, out-of-the-box piece of delightful insanity this is! The drawing room in the parsonage at Hunsford gets mighty crowded as one after another after another Pride and Prejudice characters show up with poor Elizabeth nursing a headache and skipping tea at Rosings precisely to AVOID being in company. The point of view in each chapter skips from one character to another, providing their observations and conclusions, which are hilariously inaccurate.

I love that Anne de Bourgh gets to shine here, as she finds her voice and develops her ability to tease. A blotted and partially unreadable letter motivates some of the arrivals in this wacky tale, and for once it's not Mr. Bingley's penmanship that creates the misunderstanding.

Roughly novella-length, and good for lots of chuckles and giggles throughout.

This is another quick story from Wade H that takes place all in a short time period. Lots of emotions, surprises, misunderstandings and quick wit. It alternates between the point of view of the characters and occurs in the Hunsford parlor. Instead of Darcy appearing to propose, it starts with Anne de Bourgh coming to warn Elizabeth. From there the hilarity starts and the whole thing ends with multiple happily ever afters.

This is a funny, 11 chapter story that will have you grinning if not laughing aloud. It should be read without liquid or if you must clear liquids.

The story mostly takes place in an afternoon at Hunsford Parsonage and squeezes in more characters than the parlor can hold. It begins with Lizzy sitting in the parlor, Alone, musing over the revelation that Darcy has separated Jane and Bingley; when there is a visitor.

It is Miss Anne deBourgh who is there to save Darcy from himself and determine if he has yet proposed which starts the first of many misconceptions and ends with Anne thinking Darcy is in financial trouble. The second chapter is from Anne's perspective, then another guest arrives, Darcy, and we will change perspective again.

And so on and so on until Col. (Periwinkle) Fitzwilliam, Mr & Miss Bingley, Jane and the Gardiners, Mrs. Collins, Lady Catherine and a boy named Sue.

You need to read it.

In this short novella of a Pride and Prejudice variation, Elizabeth Bennet due to a headache is alone at the Hunsford Parsonage while the Collins are at Rosings. Then she has an unexpected visitor. Then another, and then another.
An enjoyable odd story.

An absurd story. But I can recommend it easily enough. It is funny, stupid, and in some aspects genius. The fact that everyone had his or her own idea of what was happening, and was sure of it was the best part of this fanfiction. I truly enjoyed it.
