She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. Main characters: Commander Sazar and Sarah Michaels
Type of Kindred bonding: Pitch-Blood Kindred

There are so many interesting things in this book!

1. First of all this is a Christmas book Which means that you will have this Christmas feeling of love and happiness and family. But I would have liked more of it. This is the first book in the Kindred world that talks about Christmas and how they are celebrated in the ship, but we really don’t get many details. We only learn a few things about the Kindred Winter Solstice celebration –but not much really. I just had the feeling throughout the book that the Christmas spirit was building and building, but I did not get its full glory in the end. I wanted a big celebration, a big dinner in the end with Sazar, Sarah and Tsandor. And Sophie, Kat, all the girls, all their children, Sylvan, Baird and all the Kindred. You know, with laughter, lots of food and drinks, strange gifts, mixed customs between the Kindred and the Humans.
-Can we please have an extended epilogue somehow?

2. There is this thing with the Prophet, the Controllers, the Brotherhood and the Sisters. The whole brainwash thing with the religious cult that it also expanded in the alien world where Lord Magnate is the “special snowflake” that needs to breed all the females in order to produce special children. Just yak! Disgusting. It helped building up the tension in the book, but it made my skin crawl. I haven’t heard much about this kind of cults in Greece, but I know that they exist almost everywhere in the world.

3. The under the water alien world in planet Alquon Ultrea where the inhabitants are mermaid-like, very sexual, creatures. To be honest I am a bit claustrophobic and I don’t really like water. So this was like a nightmare for me, especially when they were not allowed to leave. But I love thrillers, so I guess it was ok hahaha.

4. The fact that the Kindred warrior has a kid. I don’t think we have seen a Kindred with a kid from another woman before he meets his destined mate. We have seen only human mothers. It was interesting, although there is hardly any interaction between father and son. I am looking forward to seeing them together in the next books –maybe with another son or daughter.

5. Sazar is interesting. Besides the fact that he is a Pitch-Blood Kindred (the Kindred vampires who need blood to function), he is also interesting as a character. Yes, I love grumpy, authoritative, bossy jerks who deep down are sweethearts.

6. There is this other woman concept, which I normally don’t like. Sazar does not stop thinking about his ex-wife and compares her with Sarah and he does not visit his son because he looks like his ex-wife (really heartbreaking and sad). Somehow in this book, this did not bother me much. Maybe because Sarah is a survivor and she just accepts her role as someone who will reunited this family and emotionally is so much stronger than Sazar.
You Go, Girl!!

Three and a half
I love this fun sexy series that just goes to extreme lengths to entertain the reader. What I find refreshing is the fact that not only is it fantastically alien so anything goes but sometimes there's a thread of reality running through that makes the characters and their situations vividly realistic. This book does just that as the heroine Sarah is running from a man with power and influence who wants to take advantage of her. No spoilers here but it did resonate with me in view of the recent headlines involving both Hollywood and political figures.
Of course though the star of the book should be Sazar, the big sad Kindred who really needs a shake up. However I thought it was Sarah who really shone. Sarah is his brave , gutsy new assistant who just happens to be destined for him ! Add in the sweet little boy who we previously read about and you just know it's going to be a heart touching story to make the reader sigh. Problem is though to get to that happy ending Sarah and Sazar have to go on a diplomatic mission to a planet with not only a peculiar ecosystem but a bizarre sexual outlook as well ! Cue naughty outfits, salacious leanings and creatures that could feature in my worst nightmares.
This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

The book I read on my Dad's birthday! Okay, anyway, I thought it was really interesting how the heroine had escaped a cult, and I'm glad we finally got a scene at the cult towards the end of the book.
How do people like Father Caleb start cults, though? A new thing for me to wonder, lol.

The hero, Sazar, was a new type of Kindred I hadn't heard of: Pitch Blood Kindred. They differ from regular Blood Kindred in that they actually need to drink blood to survive.

Sazar is a diplomat, so they go to Alquon Ultrea, a planet which is completely submerged in water after the Alquons destroyed their planet (a nice nod to the global warming currently going on here on Earth), on a diplomatic mission. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if there was a sequel to this book with them going on more diplomatic missions because it was interesting. At the beginning, I might have been expecting them to go to more than one foreign planet. Of course, like other Evangeline Anderson books, the heroine is forced to reveal revealing clothing, which is the norm on the otherworldly planet.

I think this was the first Kindred book I read where the Kindred male had a dead wife and son. Even though he loved his first wife, for me at least, it was pretty obvious that she wasn't his soulmate, as she wasn't his Fated Mate like Sarah turned out to be. (Fated Mates were females who wouldn't feel any pain when he feed from them; rather, they would experience the Blood Pleasure.)

Something I wondered for the first time is how come Kat, Liv, and Sophie are always the welcoming committee to the other human women? What about the other Kindred brides that they don't know/aren't friends with? I understand why the author would have these 3 be the welcoming committee in each book because they were the heroines of the first three Kindred books, so they're familiar figures who make a cameo in each subsequent book.

I really want to know more about Shad, Kat's son. Is he triplets with War and Peace? But I thought Twin Kindred only birthed twins...
Also, I'm wondering who the other children in the constant care center are/why they're there? I could be wrong, but I thought Kindred could only birth sons??

I liked how each chapter had a red Christmas wreath on it, but the Christmas aspect of the book never fully lived up to its hype. I would have liked a longer celebration, including a dinner with all the characters in the epilogue, and even a scene where the boys actually bobbed from tam-tams.

I never noticed it in Evangeline Anderson's books before I don't think, but people are right about them--that they could use some further editing. For example, Santa Claus was spelled "Santa Clause".

Very sexy, to the point some people may be uncomfortable. But if you like hot steamy scenes, this is really well done. The storyline is interesting. And the author, as usual, has written an intriguing story.

Evangeline Anderson- Healing the Broken: A Kindred Christmas Tale ( Brides of the Kindred)

The Kindred Tales Series has a new Addition just in time for the holidays, “Healing The Broken”. This wonderful series continues within the mesmerizing world of the Kindred and also includes many of our favorite characters within the stories.

We were introduced to Tsandor, the Little Kindred boy living under the care of the children’s center on the Mothership, missing his deceased mother and a father too Broken to give him much attention. His father, Commander Samar, running away from the pain of losing his wife and the child who looks so much like her, has taken a position as an ambassador to other planets to inquire about compatibility for DNA sharing, so he is rarely around to see Tsandor. This sweet boy broke my heart but he has reason to hope things will change as his special friend Shad has had visions of the near future.

Commander Sazar is a Pitch-Blood Kindred and must have a certain amount of blood regularly to survive. Being as he travels constantly the donor must become the job of his assistant. Not surprisingly he has gone through several assistants since his wife passed. When his last interview, Sarah , walks into the room he is overtaken by the scent of her sweet blood. He is more than happy to hire her as long as she is willing to also allow him to take blood from her.

Sazar is as most Kindred, sexy, tall handsome alpha but he is also broken, isolated, bottled up emotionally and not the easiest boss to work for.

Sarah has run away from a religious cult and is fearful they will find her and drag her back. The leader of the cult feeling he has the right to sexually take advantage of the young women in his church and possibly bless the with his child. Sarah has hidden herself away trying to make herself unattractive, wearing glasses she doesn’t need,a curvy body under huge clothing.
Now she has become next in line as a Bride for the Prophet. She is hiding in a shelter for abused women. It is crucial that she get this job as an assistant for the Kindred Commander so that she can escape earth and find safety traveling the universe, even if it means being a blood donor.
Without spoiling the rest of this awesome story I can on,y say trust Evangeline Anderson to take her readers on amazing journeys both physically and emotionally.

Sarah and Sazar have their own story unfold as they go on a mission to a planet that has its own ideas about genders and sexuality.
The author always manages to touch on so many issues we face today, this book bringing up cults, chauvinism, grieving the loss of a mate/mother, dealing with accepting and loving ones body, shades of environmental issues, that although we are light years away so much of what the characters go through is totally relatable.
Very few authors can write such sexually charged heated scenes and situations so have a fan ready this book has a good amount of naughty and 5🔥. Mixed in with danger, suspense, romance, heartwarming emotional endings and adventure and you have an awesome book.

I am always awed at the infinite number of original and different plots, storylines, characters and worlds
Ms. Anderson creates. The Kindred Tales Series can be read separately although some worlds and characters do carryover from the main series, The amazing not to be missed “Brides of the Kindred”.

Ugh, I really wish I could have bleached my eyeballs after reading this. The plot revolves around a diplomatic mission that the hero and heroine go on that requires them to pretend to be mates. That planet has a society that treats women in a disgusting, degrading manner and of course, our intrepid heroine then agrees to be treated in the same fashion because otherwise the mission would be in jeopardy. The hero is actually quite decent and protective and wants to leave immediately, but she refuses. So on top of this distasteful degradation of women, we have a TSTL heroine, another thing I hate in romance novels. I'm very sorry I wasted any money at all on this book, but at least it was only $0.99.

I liked how it also triggered the part of consent but these alien cultures have become a little repetitive. I would love to see more of the Shadow twin! Maybe a book when he grows, he will get his own book?! :)

First thoughts: *rubs hands together like a Disney villain* time to read some gratuitous smut!!

Last thoughts: why is my heart leaking more than my coochie

I really feel like no one does it like Evangeline Anderson. Everytime I finish a chapter I'm like "how the hell does this sci fi smut have interesting world building??" I have so many thoughts and questions.

To Add: my feelings on the OTP

This isn't a spoiler per say about the romance, but it's interesting how the Kindred Goddess told FL, during a moment where she was praying for guidance, "Do not be cast down or dispirited that your Earthly mother will not hear your pleas. I hear you and I care."

Soooooooooo what's going on with the Earth goddess?

Ok this isn't really a spoiler either but the themes of diversity in a race versus eugenics and "purity" was not what I expected walking into this book. Once again, after every chapter my jaw would be on the floor because there ain't no way I picked up something for smut and instead got hit with some Hella entertaining plot and messages about real stuff.

Anyway, this is the worst review on this book but that's what my brain has come up with ^^ I'm going to ask chatgpt for it's opinion.

Adios 🌊

Just found this gem!
Greta characters, story and ending. Love the fact that the female lead in this is a plus size gal like myself. Love that she gets the hot guy and a family that she needs and deserves.
We get hot, sexy scenes, loving and protective scenes and satisfying, "Take your hands of MY woman!" scenes as well.
The awww moments with young Tsandor melts the heart.
One of the best moments/ comeuppances is best experienced by the reader firsthand. It's toward the end and you will know it when it happens. Couldn't help but laugh at how perfect it was.

Fun, entertaining sci-fi erotica novel in the Brides of the Kindred series. I definitely liked Sarah a little more than most of the Brides, maybe because of her past. Read if you like this author's usual brand of sex and crazy outlandish alien sexual customs.

Got to love to see another book in the Kindred Brides. Some things I love about this book is it is a Christmas story, it is about a single father (absolutely love that), and it is not just about one broken soul but two broken souls that need healing. I love that is is also about a woman that has been through hell and back and still is not broken. She has a strong spirit and is a survivor.

I love that the author is writing about beautiful curvy women and that is what Sarah Michaels is. She has been through so much. She was in a cult called The Brotherhood of Peace. She did not have a mother she could rely on to keep her safe and her father abandon her.

I loved how Sarah used her brain when it came to her escape and finding refuge. She knew she had to hide away and what better way to do that then getting a job with one of the Kindreds.

Holy moly Commander Sazar was this sexy Pitch-Blood Kindred. I love how Evangeline Anderson brings something new to each of her books. I know you are probably thinking she has already written a book on a blood kindred what new did she bring. Well a Pitch-Blood Kindred is different then the other blood kindred. They actually need to drink blood.

I tried to picture what is was like for each person that interviewed to be Commander Sazar’s assistant. To go in and find out he wants to feed off you once a week and it would hurt. How would you react? Would you give it your best to try to make it work to live out your fantasy of being bitten by a vampire?

My heart broke for Sazar. He was broken. To me there could be nothing worse then loosing your spouse. He had bottled up all his pain and emotions. Withdrawn from those close to him. I believe he buried himself in his work to help him deal with the pain. But the bad thing about this is he let his pain keep him from his 4 year old son. His son was grieving as well. He had lost his mother through death but father as well. Yes Sazar was still alive but not there emotionally for his son. His son needed his father, he need the comfort of family and home, and what he needed most was feeling loved. So when I said that there were two broken souls I was referring to Sazar and his son Tsandor. To me both were broken.

I found the planet Alquon Ultrea interesting. The author is always so creative when it comes to the other planets and the people on it. Now the men in leadership on this planet I did not like. I am not saying all men on this planet were bad because I do not believe that but I do believe that Councilor Rando and Lord Magnate were scum.

I found it interesting that on this planet people that lived underwater. I also found how freely sexual the planet was very interesting as well. Their moral codes were total different from earth that is for sure. There are somethings that happen on this planet that Sazar will have a hard time forgiving himself from.

As you know there is danger around the corner and Sazar will have to face how much he loves Sarah. How much he wants to protect her and keep her safe. And face the fact that he must let go of the past and embrace the future. I love how the Sazar found out about Sarah being in danger and how Sazar was able to believe what he was being told.

Trust me when I say there are plenty of steamy parts in this book. As you know Evangeline Anderson never disappoints. This was a great story. I truly loved that this was a single dad story. I truly hope that the author will consider writing more single dad stories. This book can be read as a standalone so please do not worry if you have not read any of the other book in the Kindred Bride series. I am truly glad I got to read the book.

Narrator Performance: 🎧🎧🎧🎧

Another entertaining book by Evangeline Anderson! She never fails to bring a smile to my face with her creativity. How does she manage to come up with the alien inventions and civilizations that she incorporates into her work? So unique!

The narrator did a fine job. I always enjoy listening to her performances even if there is the occasional minor slip up.

Public S E X

I haven’t read all of the Kindred books and do not plan to. As some of the characters and situations don’t sound interesting. This one however did sound interesting so I gave it a try.
Unfortunately, I found it to be very disappointing. Here are some spoilerish reasons for the low rating:
Most of the kindred books feature plus sized heroines. If it’s only mentioned once or twice I can normally ignore it and not focus on that. However, it was brought up over and over. And her enormous breasts were like the headlining content.
Then she was all bashful about showing some skin when they were on another planet that the women all practically went naked on. It was annoying how bashful she was. Suck it up.
She came off as rather weak at times.
The stuttering weakness was frustrating. She wouldn’t just come out and tell Sazar how she felt or what she wanted. Basically they both just wouldn’t open up and communicate.
He mentioned he ex wife several times and how much he loved her. The Goddess even told him he would see her again. So even though Sarah, was his Fated Mate, we had to hear about his dead ex. No one wants to compete with that.
These little crab like trained animals at a restaurant all came up to Sarah after she petted two of them. And she had a freaking break down because they got on her. Like freaking out saying get them off blah blah. They were loving on her AFTER she started petting them, and then she freaks. Wtf. Get a grip girl.
PUBLIC S E X! The heroine is a Virgin going into this. They are on another planet on a mission and they are asked / required to attend a breeding ceremony. The whole book and during this ceremony she’s all a stuttering I I I want oh I blah blah can’t spit it out or get into it. She’s all like oh alright I guess it’s okay when they do this or that. Geez. How bashful can you be? And what’s with all the talking? FEEL THE MOMENT AND GO WITH IT.
But the public sex breeding ball was ridiculous. He ends up having to penetrate her and then he has to release in her. In public with other couples going at it. This is how she drops her VCard. Then when he pulls out this observation attendant leans down and sticks this plug for his seed in her. Why did Sazar let the other male do that?! If forced to do it Sazar should have done it.
And the whole drama and side story with the cult she escaped from after they got back, it was just totally unnecessary and annoying.
And how neither would voice their emotions, omg....
I would not recommend this addition. And I think I’m taking a break from this series for a while. The newest addition, Handling the Hybrid wasn’t terrible and pretty hot. But this one was bad.

**Received ARC from Booksprout for a fair and honest review**
Healing the Broken; A Kindred Christmas Tale can be read as a standalone, but would be best read in order. The author does a great job with the details, so if you haven't read the other books you won't be lost, but characters from the other stories come up and I think it adds more if you've read them IMO. I'd rate this book at 4.5 stars.
Sarah's family joined a cult when she was 12 years old. The leader used this to have sex with all the women, while keeping them suppressed and discarding them for the next young female in the cult that drew his fancy. When Prophet Caleb turned his interests towards Sarah, she was determined to escape the cult at all costs.
Sazar is a Pitch Blood kindred, which is a blood kindred, except he needs blood to survive, and a single father since his mates unexpected death. In his job he needs a female assistant that can travel with him, pose as his mate if needed and they are required to allow him to feed off them once a week. None of the applicants have worked and when he gets down to the final applicant, Sarah, he is shocked when she has no issue with allowing him to feed off her.
I have been very excited to read this story, and see how things unfold for Sazar and Tsandor. I really enjoyed this story tremendously. I enjoyed the characters, their chemistry, love seeing the characters from the previous books, and how they are doing. Though I wished a few more previous characters would have come up and seen where they were at since there has been a fair amount of time that has elapsed, so things change in peoples lives and it would have been nice to see. There are a good amount of hot steamy scenes for those inquiring minds that want to know. My only complaint for the book is it ends when they are just getting together, and while there is an epilogue, I wished it gave more information about Sazar, Sarah and Tsandor. Overall it was hard to put down and a great read! I would definitely recommend! Can't wait for the next book in the series! Happy Reading!!!

First Christmas story for The Kindred Series!

Overall, I quite enjoyed this book. Like Unbound, I did find this book to be very dark in some places. It also may be a book that may upset some people, especially those who have lost loved ones, have survived being in a cult, and find the idea of being in water claustrophobic.

We have a new species of Kindred: Pitch-blood Kindred.

Main characters Sazar and Sarah both are running from their pasts: and both for completely different reasons. Sazar lost his wife in a sudden tradegy which left him with a young son named Tsandor. Sarah has been brought up in a religious sect since the age of 12. Now she is on the run from The Brotherhood as they are nothing more than a brainwashing cult.

There are many reasons why I find this book to be quite dark, yet enjoyable. Some of the main reasons are:

* Sazar being a different Blood Kindred means he actually has to drink blood. He is stereotyped gym this, and has hardened against the stereotype he has been labeled with. You can't help what or who you are, yet Radar has to defend himself constantly

* Sarah has been forced to live with The Brotherhood since she was 12. Her Father left Sarah and her Mother after unsuccessfully trying to persuade them to leave. Sarah feels isolated, abandoned and alone. She hates the attention of The Brotherhood, especially The Prophet.

* This is the first Kindred tale where the Male has a child from a previous relationship. The child s named Tsandor, and is quite sweet. He misses his mother, and more importantly, does not understand why Sazar, his father, does not vist him in the care house.

*We see an underwater world, that reminds us of The Little Mermaid; only there are no mermaids, their society treat women as inferior, they live mostly underwater, and they share all breeding partners.

I love the in-depth crossover emotions, sadness, and despair in this novel. I
Love how complex plots are, the character backgrounds, and the intimate scenes. Once again, we have a very unusual stoey, and we see some of our pervious characters we have all come to love. I only wish it did not always have to centre on Liv, Sophie and Kat. I wish sometimes we could see other characters like Mei-Li, Charlie, Tessa etc.

I hope to see more novels and side-stories like this one! It certainly was well wort the read!

Abducted into a cult called The Brotherhood of Peace at age twelve, she has grown up in an abusive system. Now as an adult, she is desperate to get away before she must become a “Bride of the Prophet” and is forced to have sex with the leader, the lecherous Father Caleb. Sarah runs from the cult… and straight into the arms of a tall, dark, angry Kindred warrior...

Commander Sazar is the ultimate diplomat but not a very good boss. In fact, he’s awful because he has the habit of biting his personal assistants. Even though this was a "Christmas time" story, I did not really see the point of even bringing that up. Besides that I really liked the interactions between Sazar and Sarah, even growing up in an oppressive environment Sarah was strong and knew exactly what she wanted out of life.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I couldn't wait to read about Tsandor and his dad and Evangeline Anderson did not disappoint.
Sarah ran away from a cult that she grew up in and needs to get away from Earth before they find her. She applies for the assistant position to Commander Sazar. He goes through assistants quickly because he is a very gruff, unhappy man who also needs blood to survive. Since his mate died, he requires his assistants to fulfill that need. Sarah will do whatever it takes to get away so she takes the position.
Sarah meets Sazar's son and they share an immediate bond. She vows to do all she can to help Sazar see that his son needs his father's love.
The first assignment she is given is to pose as his mate on a diplomatic mission to another planet to work out a trade agreement. This planet closely resembles the cult she ran from and she is constantly forced into situations that make her uncomfortable. The only up side is that her and Sazar are growing closer. Can she help break him from his shell and show him he can still go on living without his mate? Or will the mission break them before they can get that far?

I don't know how Evangeline Anderson does it but these stories never get old and each one is unique and absolutely fantastic. We got to see some of the original characters and their children and a bit more about the mysterious Shad, who will no doubt play an important role when he gets older. This is definitely a great series that I never get tired of.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This the story Commander Sazar is a single, Pitch-Blood Kindred who lost his wife and has feels empty and lonely inside. He is an ambassador in search of other planets for Kindred genetic trade. He meets and hires as his assistant Sarah, who has escaped The Brotherhood of Peace, a cult where she has done most of her growing up. During their travels to the planet Alquon Ultrea, they discover not only the strength each of them has inside of them but the growing feelings they are developing for each other. As with every Kindred adventure, the way is not made simple, either on the planet or when they return. and The Brotherhood of Peace will not let one of theirs get away that easily either.
As with all of her Kindred books, the story touched on some issues from our everyday lives, including racism, chauvinism, cults and of course some of the difficulties that come with being a single parent, meeting someone new, and getting over the past so you can move forward. There is some sweetness, romance, just enough heat and smexy, and the tenderness of new love and a child who feels left behind. It made me giggle and made me cry. It held all of the feelings and touched on all of the points necessary to make it a great romance. Tsandor, Commander Sazar's son is such a heart-wrenching part of the story. I loved it from the very first page, and I look forward to seeing these characters in future stories.

Healing the Broken by Evangeline Anderson is a nice book to pic up for the holidays. However if you are gifting it someone, make sure they can handle erotic scenes. Sazar is a Kindred who has lost his wife and cannot cope with raising his son because of his loss. Sarah is on the run from her previous life and hopes that by working for the Kindred she can start a new life that is healthier and safer. Evangeline wrote this book as a side story in the Kindred universe, however it can be read as a stand alone. There are a few references to the main plot of the series however it does not detract from the plot of this book. Fans of the Kindred series can read this book as a filler as they anxiously await the next book in the series. This book serves as a way to bring readers more fully into the alien world and showcase the many different events that can be happening in this reality. The various races mixing and blending, the finding of new worlds and mates is what help this series remain popular as well as attracting new readers. The characters in the book are well developed and if you are a fan of main characters falling in love during a short time span then this is the book for you. The setting, while different alien races in each book, is a bit repetitive in the way events unfold. That is the only reason why I gave this book a 4 and not a five. Take a chance if you enjoy quick romances.

Spoilers ahead!!
First let me say I love most of her kindred books... there are a few that aren't great but thankfully this one wasn't one of those LOL

Sazar and Sarah are a cute couple although the situation that they experienced was kind of ridiculous and a bit farfetched... I mean when the clothing for woman is see through with nipple jewelry men tug on it's pretty obvious that things are going to go south real quick and not in a good way soooo.... Although I liked them as a couple and the story was interesting the whole world Evangeline created seemed at times like a really bad porno that this nice normal couple had been thrust into...LOL

Then there was the whole thing where he knew she was running from something on earth and he still just let her leave without thinking oh hey maybe I should put some safeguards in place so she doesn't get hurt... The kidnapping by the cult she'd run from made me a bit angry because it was a way to cause conflict in the story that didn't need to be there or maybe it just seemed like he would have thought of it if he had half a brain and was as protective as the kindred are supposed to be...just saying seemed a little dumb to me.

Ok after reading this you may think that this was a book I didn't enjoy because I kind of picked it apart a little but the truth is it wasn't bad and I did enjoy it LOL...

So for me this was an SEPE or 4-starts because it was good but not amazingly so...

An enjoyable read with interesting comparisons between galaxies.
I have not read the last few kindred books as I lost faith in this series after reading one that really disturbed me.
As this was a Christmas book I thought I would give it a try.
I really enjoyed this story and the descriptive world building of Alquon Ultrea was amazing and so descriptive, I felt like I could see it. But definitely not somewhere I would want to visit.
The relationship between Sarah and Sazar built slowly even though the story was time condensed.
I thought Sarah was a strong person to have survived and dealt with her years in the cult compound and she showed this at the end when she was taken by the brotherhood.
I loved her ingenuity with the fruits.
Sazar was a bit harder to like at the beginning due to his treatment of his son, I understood where he was coming from but it worried me. Our children are usually the glue that helps us get through tough times like that.
But Sazar slowly grew on me with his protection of Sarah on Alquon, even ignoring his being an idiot male towards the end.
The comparations between Father Caleb and The Lord Magnate in two different galaxies was very well done.
The ending was heart-warming and I loved the little boy Tsandor.
I received this book via Booksprout from the authors Facebook page.
This is my honest review of this book.

OMG!!!! Coolness and a FAN are necessary for this one!

It's a Christmas book for a reason! WAWWT!! You'll run the full gauntlet of emotions, don't worry- you aren't bipolar.
I laughed- and I mean loud, cried, got mean mad, cheered, and felt loss.
I LOVE the Kindred, have from the beginning, and wish I could live in the fabulous world Evangeline created. What woman wouldn't want a male that adored the quicksand she walked on?
Sarah has a spirit that should be crushed by the cult she's trying to escape. And has a set of lady nads I've rarely seen. She applies for the position of assistant to Commander Sazar, and the main requirement is to be his blood doner. The things this shy little virgin does to keep her and her male Sazar alive made me blush! But seeing her grow into the woman she wants to be- Awesome!
Commander Sazar is a rare Pitch-Blood Kindred. He actually needs blood to survive. He's gone through so many assistants, because they can't take the pain caused by his fangs. Sarah gets the job because she can take his bite with little pain.
On their first mission to open trade with a new race Sarah and Sazar are forced to do things that never should happen.
Take a shy, BBW woman afraid to trust, add a widower Kindred with a young son and you have a love story to last the ages...if evil forces don't force them apart.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Evangeline has a wonderful way with her writing and keeps drawing you into the story and making you wonder what will happen next. This book is no different and has made me fall in love with these big Kindred warriors all over again. I cannot wait to see what's next.

In the last book, we met Tsandor and I know it broke my heart seeing what he was dealing with. A father who was neglecting him, and a mother that had passed away. We found out from Shad that there'd be a happy ending for him, and he was quite right. (This little boy has a gift and I can't wait to see how his story goes.) throughout this book, the chemistry between Sazar and Sarah is undeniable, to anyone but themselves. What they find while visiting the new world was something they should have ran from in the beginning, but Sarah is determined to make sure they're able to complete their mission, no matter how many bad memories of the compound it brings back. Their adventure is delicate for both of them, but what happens when they return to the mother ship breaks my heart in two. Especially with Tsandor, he's already attached to Sarah and knows she's in trouble.

Wow, this was just awesome. Wouldn't even really call it a novella, it's length is more full novel sized. Makes it feel like a lot happens, and definitely succeeds in keeping me engrossed the entire way through.

Reading order wise, best to pick this up after reading Freeing the Prisoner (#20.6), but aside from that can read it whenever, as there's only minor references to the Hive that get introduced in #19. It felt strange reading a Kindred book that focused only on the Protagonists, no shifting to other character perspectives for some exposition, all just stuck to the main two. Which I have to say I found refreshing and it made the book easier and more enjoyable to get through without having to consider a greater "series story plan" at the same time.

On the whole I think this is another great example of the authors wonderful ability to create new and diverse alien worlds for protagonist couples to explore. Like that she's also able to come up with varying life situations for the female protagonists, in this case an escaper of a religious cult, which reminded me of Devoured (#11) and it's lead of a woman trying to escape an abusive cop husband.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to read more Kindred Tales.

Another scintillating Kindred story!! 4.5 stars

Sarah is on the run from a cult-like situation where she was to become the “bride of the Prophet”. Interviewing for a job which will allow her to travel off-planet; others do not want the job because the boss is a Pitch-Blood Kindred and will need to “bite” them as a part of the job. Deciding this is better than her alternatives she accepts the job offer.

Sazar has not gotten over the loss of his wife. He cannot face his young son because he closely favors her. Sarah meets the young boy who has dreamt of her becoming a part of their family, and they become friends. Sarah vows to convince Sazar to visit and to bring the boy home.

As their mission takes them to a planet with some very odd cultural habits; both are pushed to their limits. These two must pretend to be married which adds to their difficulties. When danger escalates Sazar finds his responses are more geared toward a mate – what is going on?

The Kindred series will not disappoint!!

OMG, I loved it, I know that I usually say this but on this one, what with the Christmas theme and then with the little boy,Tsandor, as well - it was just amazing!
I have to admit that I absolutely fell in love during this book and not with the big hulking Kindred, Sazar, it could only be with Tsandor. For me although he didn't feature in the whole book and was only in little bits and bobs, wow, what a star and the writing for him just stole my heart. I have children myself and could just picture them in his place, without me, just yearning for some love and then when Sarah came along his little heart and life started to become that little bit brighter because of her as he knew she was meant to be in his life.
The whole book was awesome, and to be honest although it is featured as a 'Plus Length Novel' I didn't notice this as once I started the journey, as with all Kindred books it was over in the blink of an eye and I'm hungry for the next instalment.
An absolute smash, loved it and cannot wait for more!!

Okay. I might not have read a TON of Kindred books, but what I've read makes me laugh. I mean, the situations these poor people get themselves in is just insanely over the top. AND I KIND OF LOVE IT.

In this case, Sazar (commander and diplomat) and Sarah (his freshly minted assistant) end up being the main attraction at a "breeding ball" where public sex is the norm and those who don't participate with appropriate vigor are tossed to a nasty...You know what, let's just say it's not a good way to go and leave it at that. Needless to say, all the simmering sexual tension the two of them are trying to ignore boils over and THINGS HAPPEN. As one would expect at a breeding ball.

Don't worry, everything works out in the end.

The Kindred are fiercely protective of their women and each branch has their own special issues to deal with. They're dangerous and sexy and, MAN, they're fun to read.

Love this series! This is a great love story featuring another fiercely protective Kindred male.

Commander Sazar, a Pitch Blood Kindred, needs to drink blood to survive. He hires a new assistant that is trying desperately to escape her former life on a abusive compound. Sarah is very eager to please her new boss and offers up blood to him to show she is very serious about the job.

On her first mission off world to Alquon Ultrea, she is put in some very awkward situations. The Lord Magnate is very similar to the Prophet from the cult she escaped. He has an insatiable need to breed virgins, even very young ones, or anyone he desires, to spread is special seed. As gross as this is to me personally, the females on planet look forward to this breeding and find the whole process very special.

There is some backstory with Sazar that he works through throughout the book, his first wife is deceased and he has a little boy that lives at the Constant Care Center. Sarah is determined to reunite the little boy with his father, and has plans for a Christmas gathering.

Never have I read a romance novel that unironically breasted so boobily. It was straight out of "men writing women" satire but a lot of it is done earnestly. If this was the first book I'd read by the author, I'd have put the (audio)book down and been unlikely to try Anderson again.

There's on page SA that's dismissed and disturbing.

Steam: 3/5 - It's a long book and there's only a couple of scenes. One of them is not at all sexy as it's SA to both MC and neither is having the time of their life.

Romance: 1/5 - Dude. Mostly gross.

Characters: 2/5 - Both MCs were duds. The MMC (and the whole planet the book is set on) have a degrading obsession with virginity and how "important" it is. Blegh.

Plot: 1/5 - Titties, virginity, and misogyny. That's the plot. Sorry for the spoilers :/

Audiobook: 3/5

Rereadable: nope

Continuing with series/author: I've got a bunch of stuff going on and don't have time to try to find anything else to listen to. That, and the fact that I've really liked other books in the series is probably gonna lead me to continue.

2 stars cuz the writing is still decent.
