I cannot recommend doing Fr. Mike Schmitz Bible in a Year enough. So many graces. So much to learn. But most of all, so much love.

Well, it's the Bible, so it's not like I am going to give it a bad review! I completed a reading plan to read the entire Bible in a year. It was fantastic. I learned a lot, and have already downloaded the reading plan for next year. I do particularly like this version of the Bible - and it has beautiful wide margins perfect for taking notes, or doing Bible journaling.

I read through the entire Bible this year. I used the Bible in a Year reading plan with Fr. Mike Schmitz. I read the passages for the day, then listened to the podcast. So I heard him read the readings, and then appreciated his commentary. I am finally appreciating the Old Testament so much more. I appreciated the narrative arc of the Bible, which this reading plan highlights. I start again tomorrow!

Bible in 2 years for me! Thanks to Fr. Mike’s podcast for helping me through the Bible and I loved using the Blessed is She journaling Bible to write my notes from his explanations. It’s totally worth it to listen to these podcasts and follow Fr. Mike and Jeff Cavins. They’ve made the Bible accessible to so many through this. I’m bummed I didn’t make my reading goal this year but happy that I accomplished a few things that I’ve wanted to do for a while and tackled some tough books for me.

My goal this year was to read the Bible. I had a bible in a year plan with a mix of old and New Testament readings every day. I have not spent much time reading the Old Testament in the past so while challenging with names, battles, and scourges, it gave context to all we know in the New Testament. My goal this year is to read The Catechism of the Catholic Church from a prescribed plan.

I mean, how do I accurately rate the Bible? It took us 14 months, but we finished today.

Dan and I followed the Bible in a Year podcast with Fr. Mike Schmitz, and it was a total game changer for my spiritual life.

Still, the Bible is convicting, and difficult, and very long, and challenging. There were days where we just couldn’t listen or read, and then there were the days where we played “catch up” and listened to six in a row.

Although it was my first experience really delving in, it won’t be my last. I am so glad we followed Fr. Mike’s podcast, because he is just so relatable and really helps to understand the difficult or hard to hear parts. I definitely want to reread some sections (the Gospels, Epistles, Esther, Revelation) further, and some I probably will not reread for a long time (Numbers…), but what a journey.

Even if you’re not Catholic or even particularly religious it is worth a shot to listen!

I bought this in March of 2018.

I can say that this is the first bible that I have used and ultimately been able to connect regularly with God by reading it.

The journal aspect on the sides of each page are probably one of the main reasons for the difference in why I've been able to make a better and more meaningful bible habit. Also, the notes at the bottom are clear and understandable.

The pages are thin, but they are not too thin that my pen notes bleed through or affect the next page.

My husband added bible tabs to depict all of the books. It would be a supportive suggestion to offer that information. It makes a wonderful difference having the books clearly marked for quick reference.

I will continue to cherish and utilize daily this version on the Bible.

I highly recommend it- but if this one doesn't help you connect to God, keep trying, because it's worth it to make the time to read the Bible!

What a way to finish the year! So grateful for the Bible in a Year podcast which made tackling and understanding the Old Testament so much easier and brought such a deeper understanding of the New Testament (and how it fulfills the Old). Thankful for the grace to build this habit and looking forward to the continued study that results from this strong foundation. Christ wins, we win, act like it.

For a couple of years I just read the NT and wisdom books and took a break from the non-wisdom portions of the OT, but this year I dove back in. The OT is still a weird place.

Completing The Bible In A Year with Father Mike in about 6 days and all I can say is it's been soul changing. This particular Bible is brilliant for taking notes, doodling, and I will cherish it for all my life.
