The Boy in the Cage: Blood Bath by Rinoa Cameron is the kind of book you may find once or twice in a lifetime, usually in the dark recesses of the horror section of a local bookstore or perhaps by recommendation of a friend who shoves it in your hand while whispering fiercely, “you have to read this.” This is not your typical mainstream horror novel, it’s better.
The Boy in a Cage is a splatter-punk horror novel about Nate, a teenage boy kidnapped and taken captive by Victor, a serial killer that takes pleasure in torturing his victims until death claims them. We are introduced to Nate as he’s accidentally rescued from his torture chamber by Terrance and Terrance’s friend, Gabe, two dirty cops hired to clean up after Victor’s dirty deeds. As the story progresses, the reader is taken on a fast-paced ride of terror as Terrance and Nate are forced to face their inner demons while battling to survive and outwit the many monsters trying to kill them. During this chaos, both boy and man discover their true selves and begin to overcome their worst fears.
This book has succeeded where other horror novels have failed: it presents deep, emotionally engaging characters with compelling character arcs. These characters are complex human beings and the plot is well-drafted. While Cameron provides all the graphic shocks and horrors imaginable, everything has been carefully crafted to guide the reader through the story’s progression. Cameron’s storytelling is sharp. Every detail she includes is a small piece of the whole.
Cameron has a true talent at description and pulling the reader in, and I can tell she put a lot of love in this novel. It is both well-edited and polished.
I highly recommend this book to anybody who loves horror. This book is truly terrifying and won’t leave you disappointed. It has it all!

“The Boy In The Cage, Blood Bath” is a white-knuckles ride through the tortured life of Ignatius (Nate), a teenager whose abusive family situation pushes him out and unfortunately into Victor’s clutches. Victor is as evil and complex as they come, and Rinoa Cameron masterfully reveals those complexities not too quickly but over the course of the story, planting delicious treats of ghastly revelations for you to hungrily follow along a trail of death and mayhem where humanity at its darkest and bloodiest moments is revealed in all its goriest details.
Just when you think the brutality could not possibly continue at this pace, the plot thickens and quickens with the introduction of Terence and Gabe and their brand of sinister and tense friendship. The violence is graphic, but what’s remarkable is that the splatterpunk aspect doesn’t overshadow the story, which blossoms like a black rose, scenting the pages with an intoxicating milieu of mythological monsters.
I loved this story. It’s original, entertaining, haunting, and not without heart. Cameron’s prose is exceptional. The tale is crafted with unexpected twists and turns that are riveting all the way to the big finally, which left me wanting for more. Readers of splatterpunk and dark urban fantasy have a new author to look out for. Looking forward to “Teething Trouble”, the next book in Cameron’s gripping “The Boy In The Cage” trilogy.

Loved every page of this book,rinoa Cameron has a fantastic imagination and a great gift to be able to write, it's like the story jumps off the page and drags you into the story you are emersed from the first page to the last, I loved every page, thank you rinoa.jt

Strange but great
I didn’t really know what to expect from this book, flashbacks of very detailed abuse and growing to love Nate,Terrance and jake to the massive twist...weird but such a great read
