This collection features thirteen stories with superhero flavor. Some of the stories are a lot less about super heroics than others but they're all quite good. In fact, two of the stories that feature the least super heroics, Crisis Counseling and A Soldier out of the Desert were among my favorites. That's not to say that stories with more traditional super heroes weren't also great. Nightstick is a great story that deserves novel treatment and The Weight of One Girl and Someone is Aiming for You were both awesome.

I have only two issues with the collection. The very first story in the collection, Medusa, would take up about one whole sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper if you double spaced it and used a large font. It's almost unfair to call this a collection of thirteen stories when one of them is this short. It's more like a back cover blurb or a preview. I'm glad that it was followed by Nightstick which was both longer and better and renewed my interest in the book. My second issue is copy editing. There are way too many instances of word choice, grammar, or bad typing. It seemed to get worse further into the book as though someone was getting tired of being thorough.

Bad copy editing lost the book a half star and I decided to round up despite the disappointment of Medusa because the other stories made up for it.

not kindle unlimited, one of my here's a free book, hope you like it, would be nice if you'd get around to doing review but here's the book just in case, was on a superhero 'kick' a while back, then a fairy tales twisted and otherwise, and a mythology one so whatever can hold my attention type of thing

I haven't read every story in this book but, most of those I DID read, I liked. Not everything but not everything is for everybody. There are many superhero stories here and I'm sure you'll find something you like.

What makes a hero!???

These short stories are so real. I can believe in these heroes, so that, they are so human. I hope to read more of these authors stories.

I received this book as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review. I liked the book. The stories are varied and not always happy, but each was unusual. It gave a fresh perspective on super heroes. I would recommend this book

This is an interesting collection of short stories. I liked some more than others, but overall they are good stories. It was also good for picking up when I just had a few minutes to read.
