Dawson

The last thing I expect to find when I’m called to a late-night disturbance is a drop-dead, gorgeous blonde trying to break into the local prison, when most sane people would be trying to break out. But the biggest surprise of all is that I know her. In the five years since I've seen her, Kaylee has blossomed from pretty high school junior to the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen – a woman who not only steals my breath, but also my self-control. I should be focusing on the job, on finding out what’s brought her to the gates of the prison and back into my life, but all I can think about is having her under me on soft sheets, while I brand her mine from the inside out.

Kaylee

Demanding entry into a maximum detention facility to see the father I never knew existed probably wasn’t my smartest ideas ever, especially when the cops show up in the tantalising shape of Detective Dawson Ford, who’s more than capable of throwing my ass in jail. Dawson is no longer the skinny senior I remember from high school, but six-feet-five of mouth-watering temptation, and I want nothing more than to feel his lips on mine, his hands on my body, helping me forget the nightmare that is my life.

As the undeniable attraction between us catches fire, what should have been a simple quest for information quickly escalates into a deadly battle of wills, leaving my fate, and my life, in the hands of a ruthless monster - my father.

Second Chances

An emotional and good read. Kaylee experiences loss on top of shock and more loss. I liked the mostly realistic storytelling. The major case of insta-love being the most exaggerated part.

“I didn’t know you could do that with a loofah,” I gasp.
-- Kaylee Kemp

I love Dawson and his big heart that just wants to right every wrong in Kaylee's life the moment she re-enters it. It's sweet, and it leads to some searing chemistry.

The bad in her life isn't over. There are some interesting twists that put her in danger. I love how it works out - for better and for worse.

Three stars ☆☆☆

Kaylee is desperate to find information about her birth parents. She hopes by taking extreme measures (aka trying to break into a prison) she can find out that information. Dawson, one of the officers there, recognizes her as a girl who used to tutor him. A girl he used to have a crush on... and maybe still does.

I'm usually a big fan of Violet Rae's books but this one didn't hit the mark for me! Kaylee and Dawson have amazing chemistry together though.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
This book is a part of The Play series it appears each book is connected so they can’t be read as a standalone so why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Dawson sexy as all get out detective who leaves one evening to find Kaylee trying to break into the prison to see someone …well her father that she didn’t know existed and he just found out she existed, but she wants to see him anyway. Needless to say he isn’t a good man and if the people he works for find out about her she will be in danger. Of course, Dawson has to stop her, but the chemistry is intense, the magnetic pull can’t be ignored but will he protect her, will she get to know her dad, does he want to know her and can they two of them find happiness?

Kaylee Kemp has shown up at a correction facility to see Levin Sarado, the ex cop turned mob boss, who she found out was her father after her adoptive parents died in a car accident. Kaylee just wants to know something about her birth parents. Dawson Ford is the officer called in to check Kaylee out and when Dawson sees Kaylee he realizes she is the girl who tutored him in math years ago. He had a crush on her then and realizes he still has the crush. Kaylee just really wants to know where she comes and when she decides to help the police find out from Lev who is the head of a child trafficking ring will her new found father really help her, a child he never knew, or will he lead her to a path of destruction. This is an excellent romantic mystery story. It is a page turner, keeps you on the edge of your seat and Dawson and Kaylee are so hot together. Loved it. This is book 4 and is a standalone but best read after the other three. Excellent read!.

Unexpected Meeting . . .

Kaylee finds out that she was adopted and her birth father is in prison awaiting trial. So she goes there to the prison at night and demands to be allowed in to see him. Cops converge, and she meets up with Detective Dawson Ford who was her high school crush. She had nowhere to stay, so he took her home with him where they could discover that they both still had feelings for the other.

Is Kaylee now in danger by revealing her association with Lev? Will someone come after her? Will she even get to meet her father? Grab your copy and catch up on the latest events!

The entire Tainted Love series by Violet Rae is excellent, and the fourth book, Playing Rough, is no exception. Well-written, enthralling, super steamy romance, and fantastic characters in Dawson and Kaylee, all make this a must-read novel. Dawson and Kaylee's chemistry is Kindle-melting, but this is so much more than a swoon-worthy story.

While each novel in the series is a standalone, they are all interconnected (to perfection) and I cannot recommend one without encouraging you to read the rest! Eagerly anticipating the next!

This was a great book. I am really enjoying the interconnecting series and I can't wait for Playing Tough. Kaylee and Dawson were great together. These two meet again when Kaylee is at a low and Dawson is there for her. These two are able to fall hard and fast with an HEA but not with some drama, kidnapping, lots of steam, truths and secrets are revealed, and a lot time coming redemption. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for Meri and Tony's book.

Playing Rough is book four of the Tainted Love series and is Kaylee and Dawson's journey of love. Kaylee's life takes some crazy turns after her parents die, she finds out she's adopted and that her birth father is in prison. I loved the way the author brought Kaylee and Dawson together and how they knew each other in high school. This second chance/small town romance has an interesting storyline packed with family drama, danger, suspense, steam, and unexpected turns that made this a great read. I enjoyed this latest book in the Playing series. Kaylee and Dawson were so well matched. That fact that Dawson had a crush on her n high school added to the connection they have. Kaylee meets Dawson again when she visits her biological father in prison seeking answers to questions she has of who her parents were. Dawson works in the prison. Very will written book with a great HEA.

I absolutely loved the first person point of view of the story. Dawson's point of view was amazing, very funny at times-especially at the beginning. This was a real drama that began unfolding right away. I couldn't stop reading.

So it turns out that Salvadore was Daryl’s handler Lev who had gone undercover himself for too long and ended up switching sides. Also find out that he has a daughter he never knew about, she didn’t know either till recently. The moment her identity is made her life could be in danger, trouble starting the moment she turns up outside the prison that is currently holding him.

It’s not every day you find out you are adopted but for Kaylee everything seemed to come at her at once. First her parents died in a car crash, then she found the adoption papers and figured out exactly who her father was – a very bad man currently held in prison awaiting trial. Talk about a shock and not being able to think clearly. The fact she gets in her car and drives to the prison at night demanding to be let in sums that up. Not her best idea but it did bring Dawson out in a patrol car. Blast from the past for both of them when they recognise each other. She used to tutor him for maths and had a bit of a crush on him at the time, she just didn’t realise the feelings were mutual. Reminiscing aside he needs to get her some place warm and after finding out she doesn’t have anywhere to stay you knew his place would be on the cards. Not hard to ask or say yes to as both like what they see with how they have changed.

Sexual tension is there from the moment they meet right back to his place. Let’s just say it doesn’t take much to boil over and consume them both with need. So feels like a bucket of cold water is thrown on them when Tony, Daryl’s partner, comes knocking. He knows that Kaylee turned up at the prison but more importantly that they need to keep her safe and hidden because if any of Lev’s enemies got wind he has a daughter she would be danger. Bit late for that then!

Tony is just as funny this time round, but does have a knack for knocking at the wrong times. He sees more than you think and is a really good detective. Comes up with a plan so Kaylee can meet her father. They need info out of Lev to bring down a child exploitation ring but he wants to know what he gets in return. Finding out he has a daughter and could meet her might just make him talk. Might also put her right into dangers path. Looks like Dawson is going to need to stay close, not like either of them mind.

Great chemistry between them that gets reawakened even after so much time apart and as soon as they are in each other’s lives again nothing was going to pull them apart. I like that all the books stories overlap with each other, connecting everyone in different ways. On to the last in the series, Kaylee’s friend Meri is a right laugh and has a knack for getting Tony a little frustrated, chemistry brewing no matter the age difference, their story is going to be good.

I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review.

Wonderful second chance romance !!

This story is gripping, has some funny parts, drama, some action and high running emotions.
The chemistry is sizzling between very protective Dawson and troubled Kaylee.

Great standalone, but reading precedent books in the series gives it an even better understanding.

This is my review of a free copy of the book.

This series has been entertaining to read so far. They are standalone novels but is so much better if you are able to read in order as there are bits and pieces of current and previous characters. I can't help but feel bad for Kaylee as she finds out that her biological father is actual a bad guy in prison, and with how she found out. The only good thing is that she gets to reconnect with Dawson as they used to know each other in school. Their chemistry is steamy hot and sizzling, and he will do all he can to protect her.

I received a free advanced review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest opinion.
