Sometimes you have to get completely lost to find your way back home. After being kicked out at 17, Emily McLoughlin moved to Boston and never looked back. She survived by adopting a sarcastic and aloof demeanor where sex, drugs, and rock & roll soon became her lifestyle. It wasn’t until Emily found out that her little sister was in the hospital with cancer that she knew she needed to find her way home. By now, her mother and sister had moved from Massachusetts to the backwoods of Maine.
With its cast of eclectic characters, the nearly forgotten town of Pine Ridge provides the backdrop for Emily’s journey of forgiveness and healing. The old adage -Don’t judge a book by its cover was never more true than when the jaded, dressed-all-in-black-girl from Boston arrived in moose and Moxie country. This simple, heartfelt, and at times, humorous story is not only an ode to small-town Maine but to small-town America as well.

Jody Clark has written another amazing story along with his co-writer Jessie Taylor! The Wild Irish Rose is a touching story about caring for one another, accepting differences and not judging a book by its cover. It is also about resilience, overcoming obstacles and being able to move on.
As a Mainer, from a very small town, I can truly say that Jody captures the feel of the rural communities found here in Maine and he also captures the people found in those small towns. Several characters remind me of people I know and love. Awesome job Jody Clark! I highly recommend this book!

I have read the book a second time and loved it even more! If you have not read this book, you need too! I give it 5 stars, 5 thumbs up, or whatever designates a great book to you!!

It’s been a while since a book made me cry....

This was a simple but very realistic and emotional story about family and relationships. I got very attached to some of the characters, and found myself rooting for them and hoping that at every page turn they’d be happier, open to each other. It’s raw and very relatable. Also loved the setting in Maine and Boston since it’s home to me.

Jody Clark does it again with his beautiful story telling in this book. I feel like I was at Corbins General Store with Emily, could smell the woods as she ventured out with Danny and felt the palpable fear when she went to see Lily. Phenomenal story!! You've gotta read it!! You won't be disappointed.

This story was real. Life talks to our souls and hearts all the time. The hard part is listening with your heart and mind wide open. It's not a trick, just part of being human. Thanks again Jody for taking me on a nice walk in the Maine countryside.
