As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

It was just a lot of fun! Great memories from the first couple arcs of the series. And what the heck is up with Nami?? She seems so nice! And so normal! Whaaaa?

Mit diesem ArtBook präsentiert Eichiiro Oda ganz wunderbare Zeichnungen rund um die Piratenbande aus One Piece. Dabei greift er auf verschiedene Szenen zurück, die aber immer wieder etwas mit der Thematik Piraterie oder Schiffahrt oder Ruffys Lieblingsbeschäftigung, dem Essen, zu tun haben. Neben der Strohhutbande sieht man hier immer wieder bekannte Nebencharaktere, die die Truppe bisher bei ihren Abenteuern begleitet haben. Da es sich bei dem ArtBook um ein älteres Werk handelt, kann man anhand des Fortschritts der Charaktere erkennen, in welchen Storybereich dieses Artbook einzuordnen ist. Viele, die die Mangas gelesen haben, werden hier auch einige der Cover aus den jeweiligen Kapiteln der ca. 1. 25 Bände erkennen. Mir persönlich gefällt das ArtBook richtig gut und ich denke, dass es für Freunde der Reihe und auch Hobbyzeichner ein ganz aufschlussreiches Werk ist.

Los Color Walk son unos volúmenes donde aparecen los Color Spread ilustrados de One Piece. Así como comentarios de Oda sobre qué le llevó a dibujar esas ilustraciones. Eso último para mí ha sido muy interesante.
Así como bocetos de One Piece, algunos han evolucionado y han entrado a formar parte de la obra, otros se quedaron en el tintero. Algunos los sabía y otros no. Pero como fan ha sido muy interesante.
La última parte es una entrevista de Oda con Akira Toriyama, autor de Dragon Ball. Ha sido una gran oportunidad para conocer más de la infancia de Oda, sus opiniones sobre el manga o el dibujo, lo que debe hacer un artista... También ver a Oda fangirleando con Akira Toriyama sobre Dragon Ball, para qué engañarnos.
Muy recomendable si te gusta One Piece.

The original art style of oda has its charms it may not be good as his current art style. At least his old art style fit the charm of the first part of one piece. I really loved this art style.

A must have collection for any One Piece hardcore fans. The book's quality is superb, the arts are unforgettable. Not to mention the monochrome talk between Oda and Toriyama sensei. What can you ask more from an Art Book?
