The Last Riders #10

Rider’s Revenge

Rate this book
Revenge is a seven-letter word that isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s a word for those who have been wronged.

Jo Turner has been waiting five, long years to finally turn revenge into vengeance. Using Rider, the pretty-faced manwhore, is simply the price she is willing to pay to satiate her desire for revenge. Little does she know, she makes herself a target from the one thing Rider has sworn to give his life to protect—The Last Riders.

When you wake the soldier, be prepared for the consequences.
Rider is going to teach her a hard lesson: revenge is a double-edged sword … and it always cuts both ways.

Same old troupe. I’m done with Jamie begley books. Weak pathetic women and man whore men. When she can write a strong women and a man that respects women a bit more I may read her books again.

And by strong women. I don’t mean someone who is rude and swears. I mean someone that has self respect and doesn’t bow down and let the hero’s get away with things and then wants to live or be bff with all the women the hero has slept with.

4 STARS

I liked it but wasn't inlove with Jo and Rider's story. It's just MEH. Nothing really mind blowing or gut wrenching scenes... uhm.. oh wait there is.. the epilogue 3 but let's talk about that later.

description

Anyways, eventho I wasn't inlove with the story, it still a good one. I'm a huge fan of The Last Riders Series, so I feel kinda connected to each one of them. I'm happy that our big man-hoe-happy-go-lucky Rider finally found his own woman! If you've read the other books, you pretty much know what you're gonna get here but what surprised me is that, I really got to know the real Rider.

Everything is okay, I'm not even offended about how much of a manhoe Rider was but.. what bug the crap out of me is that there is ZERO chemistry between Rider and Jo!

description

Rider and Jo? They kinda don't make sense together and don't even get me started regarding Rider's feelings to Jo. Around 70ish % in the story he said he didn't love her but then when Jo confronted him about it, all of a sudden he changed his mind and figured he does love her? Everything went way too fast towards the end that it wasn't convincing at all. :/

Anyways, so let's talk about THAT epilogue 3. I'm a little torn about it, because I PREFER MY CHARACTERS TO HAVE A HEA. but again, as I said- I'm torn about it because part of me didn't want to read that far but at the same time, I think we needed that epilogue 3. As I mention before, I didn't believe Jo and Rider together as a couple but after reading that, I felt a confirmation that they were really inlove.. does that make any sense? haha!

description

I wasn't planning on reviewing this book, figured I'll just rate it but after reading the epilogue 3.. I'm so pissed I need to vent a little bit! hehe! Anyways, I'm giving this a 4 stars and I'm being more than generous! Despite my rant, I love this author and dreading the day this series will truly end.

After waiting and really looking forward to Rider’s story I can’t believe I’m giving it 1 star. If I were to list all the things I didn’t like about this book it would take me all day. But here’s a few of the most important ones. For the first half of the book Rider is having loads of sex with the women at the clubhouse and even more of the women in town. I’m not sure how Jo fell for his shit. There’s no romance, no chemistry, Rider and Jo don’t get together till more than halfway through the book. Even then Rider is just using her as he wants a family like his married brothers in the Last Riders. As for Jo she started out quite a strong character, but that didn’t last. Quite honestly Rider went from being one of my favourite characters from this series to one of my least favourite. As to the plot WTF is my only comment.

I am SO disappointed with this book. We've known Rider since the first book. I was looking forward to his story so much. With his attitude towards women and his views on relationships, it would take a strong woman to knock him on his ass so he didn't know what hit him. Sadly that didn't happen. Love didn't knock him on his ass. He just wanted a woman that loved him so he could have what the others had. The majority of the book he didn't even love Jo. Then we get a couple of chapters at the end when he did (which I totally missed when that happened). Not for one moment did I think I was reading Rider's story from The Last Riders. It just wasn't him. He was nothing like he was in the other books. Even Jo shocked me with her meek and mouse like personality. What a WASTED opportunity. I'm sad to say that this will be one I will miss when I do a re-read.

Trash like the entire series. This series is not for strong minded women who have self respect and a sense of self worth.

These stories are all about cheating assholes who can't keep their dicks out of other women, and the women they claim are spineless brainless doormats who put up with every bit of crap these losers throw in the face PLUS all the thousands of other women they've slept with in their face repeatedly.

This series is not for women who think for themselves or have any intelligence. CLEARLY!

Just look at what is being preached in these stories - absolute garbage!

Le sigh.
I was SO excited about this book. Rider has been one of my favorite LR, for his laid-back, shit eating grin attitude. I guess when we met Jo, she seemed like the perfect woman to bring him down a peg or two and I built up my expectations on that.
This book left me very confused. It seems like the very first chapter - or prologue - was written a while ago and kept even though the rest of the book doesn't make much sense with it. And that's how I felt throughout the book, actually. Like a change of course had taken place but no one had bothered to go back and make the story fit with the new direction.
I didn't feel Rider fall in love with Jo. I felt it on her part, because yes, he was quite devoted but we know he was manipulating her to have a family which again... why did he change his mind so quickly??? It was completely all of a sudden and was like "oh yeah I don't want a biker chick, I want a pure chick and she'll do." Pretty sure if Jewell had told him she'd have remained faithful, he would have gone with her and... I dunno, I like feelig like the girl is special and not just "she'll do".
I think the reason why it also felt that way was that... even the sex scenes were weird. Unless I'm mistaken we don't read Rider climaxing. OK it seems weird when I write it but... nothing in the way he has sex with Jo makes it seems like it's different for him, unlike we had with almost every other LR. I even thought he didn't orgasm on purpose or something at some point o_O.
And while we're talking about sex one of my main WTF moment was their first time. I'm not a romantic gal, honestly. I don't expect canope bed and flowers, especially not in biker romances. But here we have a h who has been violently gang raped when she was fifteen and has vowed men and sex out of her life ever since (what, ten years?). Closed off, almost friendless, no kiss, no date, no boyfriend, NADA. And I understand, because the experience was so traumatic so I wasn't annoyed by that at all, it made sense with her temper too. But then.. all of a sudden those ten years or so of sexual repression and trauma... poof forgotten so she can get it from behind in the garage. O_O
O_O
Nothing is even mentionned about the issues that made her the woman she is when we meet her in the story. Not a moment of doubt, fear, which would seem... completely and utterly normal. I try not to compare with other books but the difference was so obvious with the other girls' first time. It was mechanical (ironic since they did it in a garage).
The whole plot was way too complicated. I believe the Curt part should have been plenty enough without adding Aly. The blurb seems weird compared to the plot too is all I'm gonna say. When I first found out the title Rider's Revenge, I thought right away he would try to get revenge for Jo and yes I'm not wrong but it's such a detail that falls into nothing that I'm... scratching my head. There were also a few mistakes... since when is Winter's nickname Shy girl? It's always been pretty girl.

The two stars are for the side characters (even though even that left me unsatisfied... not enough boy messing with each other, or I don't know but something was missing). Shade was quite fun. I liked the banter between Jo and Rider, especially the talk where she says his penis is smaller. It felt real and I loved the fact that for once a writer actually goes there to explain that no, they don't all have the same gigantic penis, some obviously have to be bigger and smaller, male ego be damned XD
Also enjoyed the fact that Jo was a tomboy and the guy obsessed with the food ends up with the girl who can't cook for life, but shares his love of everything with an engine.
Also I always felt like Rider would be the one who doesn't want to share but I wish it had been milked a little more instead of him snapping that one time. Like him gradually realizing he didn't want to share her, I think it would have gone A LONG way for me to see the feelings growing in him (something as I noted I found seriously lacking).

PS: I'm confused about timeline... how did he manage to become an engineer, go to the NAVY (wasn't he a seal too? You don't become a navy seal in three months, do you? O_O), start the LR and have lived in Treepoint for quite a while now and he is only 34.

In short: like the previous book, it didn't work for me. But I'm clearly in the minority, so it might work for you ;)

Wow! Finally! A Last Rider with no sharing of the heroine, no ninja finger or wayward tongue ever made contact with the heroine’s body! And damn! The epilogue made me teary-eyed. 3 stars for those details! Like what?!! So damn bittersweet.

As usual, this book has scenes with ow before Rider and Jo have their first date but after Rider bid on Jo during the auction, he wasn’t with anyone else again.

This book is pretty long and got some usual twists and turns. There’s some angst especially with Rider’s sexual past. I wanted to give this book 5 stars but I just could not stomach the following:

1.) Rider has a threesome with Ember and Jewell and he alternated f*cking them with the same condom! Rider needs a full decontamination, honestly I would have appreciated some talk about getting tested and cleared before he and Jo start having sex. Rider was just too much of a manwhore

2.) Rider was technically still married to someone else and he only told Jo towards the end. Rider’s 2nd ex-wife is a terrorist who betrayed him and she was severely disabled due to a bomb that she carried and lost their baby (she was pregnant I think). He still brought her to the US and did not divorce her because of the lame ass reason that he gave her his oath. Duh, she’s a terrorist who betrayed you!!! Rider eventually married Jo after some years (assuming that the ex died) but I really did not like this background of his past. The heroine deserved to be his first priority and have primary claim to his everything!!

If the reader can get past or suspend disbelief regarding Rider’s past actions, I think the reader can enjoy the relationship progress. Jo really made Rider wait.

Rider didn’t want to share Jo at all with anyone. This was tackled in a rather funny way (as someone who read all of the Last Riders’ books). He got so enraged by the idea of Jo wanting to have sex with the others.

I started this review with 5 stars but after going through the pros and cons and details that I liked/disliked. I’m downgrading it to 4 stars. Still a very good Last Rider’s book.

Holy crap! I hate you Jamie Begley. HATE. YOU.

I was going to give this two stars because Rider is/was so manipulative and this was a mega-downer. But the epilogue! The fricking epilogue.

He is vain and arrogant and has all women dropping their panties just by looking at them. There is a woman for each day of the week and more women in the club. In each place he has a waitress or a clerk for a quick fuck inside a bathroom or back room.
Women are only a source of pleasure and never intend to compromise.
Club members are fed up with getting Rider in their homes stealing their wives' attention and eating their food. They take an opportunity as matchmakers for Rider to get involved with Jo. Shade is the diabolical and manipulative mind behind, but Rider discovers everything but decides to get into the game.
Rider begins to feel envious of the family that the married members are forming and grows a desire to have the same as them.
He likes the chase and Jo presents himself as an ideal target.
She presents a challenge to him and becomes an irresistible prey and difficult to catch.
I confess I had conflicting feelings about the story.
The author added to the story several cliches that together cause a lot of drama and have been written so many times.
We have a heroine traumatized by rape back to town because her father passed away and left her full of debt and a failed business. The rapists are still free and still threatening Jo. She works hard and has no time or energy for anything else.
Our hero is attracted to her but she does not give the time of day to him. He has many women easily and does not want to spend energy or time chasing a woman if she is difficult. But each time he feels more attracted, after all she is a challenge.
Two failed marriages and betrayal by the women he chose left him with trust issues.
I think he uses the two women who broke his heart as an excuse not to move on.
I think that if Jewell had promised him fidelity and children he would have stayed with her and would not even have worked hard to find another woman. When he asks her this and she can not compromise her fate is sealed.
Jewell turned out to be a Bliss second edition and a real bitch. In fact, I never liked her. She wanted to be the queen bee and an old lady but keeping their lifestyle. But Rider wants a exclusive relationship, something she can not and does not want to compromise.
I enjoyed the participation of the club members and I look forward to learning more about Gavin. The wives had great scenes and marked the presence. Shade is still great and his scenes were awesome.
I think Rider's jealous and possessive side was the coolest one because he did not agree to share Jo and reacted violently when suggested.
The story was good but I expected a lot more. I was a bit disappointed but overall I recommend it to the fans who follow the series.

The first time she had met the handsome biker, he had expected her to fall for him as if he were God’s gift to women. The second time, he had thought she was interested in women.

“Won’t ever happen. Why settle for one woman when I can do them all?”

Half of the fun was the chase. Once that was over, half the fun was gone.

“He’ll share Jo. Rider will never fall in love with a woman the way you and Shade have done.”

When the Reaper killed, he only shared with the devil.

==>He fucks all the women in town ... Jo does not take two steps without bumping into a fuck buddy of Rider.<==
“You’re both consenting adults. What I’m becoming mad about is that it’s taking Carly seven minutes to fry an egg, and you thinking I want to talk to you.”

As Jewell and Ember began kissing each other, his fingers went to Ember’s pussy as he continued fucking Jewell.

==>How disgusting the fluid exchange between him and the two women. He should bathe in bleach and run to be tested for STD.<==
taking his cock out of Jewell then sliding it into Ember. He gave her several hard strokes before he pulled out then plunged back into Jewell. He alternated fucking each woman until his skin shone in sweat.

His cock always took precedence over what everyone else wanted. It was a fault of his character, and he saw no reason to change it. That’s why he was single and available to any woman at any time.

As much as Jo intrigued him—the hard rise in his jeans testified to that fact—it wasn’t enough to have him beating down her door or chasing her tow truck.

Don’t try to fool me, little boy. I see exactly who you are.” Mag wheeled her chair closer. “You’re out for yourself, and you don’t give a damn about anyone else.”

“I’m not afraid of Jo.” “She’s not a dumb whore...

He shrugged. “I don’t want Jo.”

You haven’t got the good sense God gave you to lick a postage stamp.

“I can go a night without sex, but why would I want to? I’m living every man’s dream—a different woman every day, a job I love, and a great place to rest my head at night, especially if I have a couple of women keeping me company.”

Mercury’s tits swayed in his vision as she walked toward him, reaching for him. “I was going to ask if you needed a break, but I can see you don’t.” He groaned when she cupped the hard-on he was planning on drilling into her cunt.

Twice he had been lied to by women whom he had believed loved him, and it had nearly cost numerous lives. He had no intention of falling for lies from a woman again.

==>He keeps mentioning the other women all the time<==
“A couple of women from the club like to shop there. They ask me to go along to give my opinion. Pleasure is one of my favorite perfumes.”

==>Another club whore (aka club member) falls in love and is causing problems. It reminded me of Bliss (walking vagina).<==
“Jewell, nothing is going to change our friendship. You know that, right?” “I remember Razer telling me the same thing.”
He hadn’t answered her call earlier in the day because he thought Jo had been trying to break their date. That Jewell was responsible for their date taking a detour was something he would have to talk to Jewell about when he got home.

==>His fucking schedule is full and besides the women in town he has the women of the club.<==
“Wednesday sounds better. You have a date with Aly tomorrow night, and you always go out with Carly on Monday nights. Tuesdays are reserved for Claire. I wouldn’t want to step on her toes. She’s the only cashier at the gas station

==>He continues to defend the bitch<==“Jewell doesn’t carry tales.” “She must not carry messages either. Night, Rider.”

Jewell shook her head. “She’ll know, but I can see you’re determined to find that out for yourself. I’ll be waiting when she divorces your ass.” “I’m not chasing Jo to put a ring on her finger.

Creating an intimacy between them was the key to making her fall in love with him and would put him in the position he needed to achieve his goals.

“Jo, this is Delara … my wife.”
Rider didn’t want to think the woman he had loved so deeply was in any pain or knew what was going on around her, trapped in the shell that remained.
“I loved her,” he acknowledged. “She was carrying my child, Jo. How could I not trust her?”

“I’m sorry. I never cheated on you with my body, but I did with my actions. If you take me back, I swear I’ll never let another woman buy me presents, or buy my favorite cereal, or give me extra french fries.”

“No, you made an oath. I never expected you to marry me anyway.”

There’s so much more to Rider than the reader would ever know from the previous stories. Yeah, there have been hints here and there. But I still wasn’t expecting the roller coaster ride of a story. And he definitely met his match in Jo. I loved it. Well, except for the epilogue. After they have their HEA I’m done. I don’t want to read about them when they’re at their end. It takes away from the HEA in my opinion.

Before reading:

When finished reading....

Sooo... I loved this book; it's a 'Last Riders' book, right? However... I didn't feel te love between Rider and Jo.... and that made this book - however feel-good it was - a little disappointing. I loved that all the other characters were part of the story as well, I loved the unconditional friendship and the brotherhood. I just never had a feeling Jo and Rider were made for each other. Never felt it... not in any of the scenes and on top of that, the few sex scenes were 'not-hot'... no chemistry whatsoever! The Aly & Curt-drama was rushed and very unsatisfying! {Afgeraffeld... en kwam uit het niets; sloeg eigenlijk helemaal nergens op!} The last epilogue almost hit me as hard as Shade and Lily's one!
So... just a 4 star read, which is *not* what I'd expected..... I really expected so much more!
While writing this review, I realize I'm actually very disappointed!! I'm thinking... isn't 4 stars even too much in comparison with Shade & Lily en Killyama & Train's books??

I was so looking forward to Rider's story but man, what a crushing disappointment this book was. There just wasn't anything that made it feel special or different to me. Just the shock of learning Rider was actually married twice. Didn't really expect that from this hardcore manslut. But the rest was the the same old shit. Hero who spends half the book fucking OW's in such lovely descriptive details that it rivals h's scene. Bleh! I'm sure that's something that's not going to change EVER with this series. And I don't even expect it to. But still, it doesn't make it any easier reading how much these heroes reveled in screwing the same clubs ho's. Over and over. Hell even their scenes seemed much steamier than those with the heroines. Which is just all kinds of fucked up. I know these men aren't angels and the promiscuity comes with the territory but...really? Getting pretty sick and tired of it. Why not dedicate all those pages in developing the relationship between the main characters. Instead of demonstrating H's sexual prowess and having him spread his seed around. Literally and metaphorically.

Aside from all the exchanging of bodily fluids and usual orgies, I also wasn't too impressed with how Rider's and Jo romance played out. It was just utterly lacking and I was expecting more. What a waste, especially given the length of the book. Rider spent majority of time getting his dick wet with others that once he finally hooked up with Jo, I just felt underwhelmed. And not wholly convinced of their love. Well, more of his love for her actually. Felt like Rider selected Jo more out of need than truly wanting her. Because everyone was coupling up, and Jo was just the likely choice. His love for her came out of nowhere at nearly 80% of this book? As for Jo. Whatever happened to the strong, fierce tomboy who doesn't take his shit? Ugh, I had such high hope for her character. Really thought she'd be the one to give Rider a run for his money. Unfortunately, like her predecessors, she fell victim to the club's wild lifestyle and the hero's ways too. And became a watered down version of herself.

The only bright side was that Rider was unwilling to share Jo as the other heroes like to do. That was a pleasant surprise. I hope in the next book Rider doesn't change his mind. I will blow a gasket if that happens. Still reeling from Train's book. Can't believe Cash still shared Rach with Train... even after getting married. Lost a bit of respect there. Especially in Rachel. I know it's all consenting but let's keep some things sacred and without a third party, eh?

Very slow going on the 'romance' side of things. Due to the men in these books always having sex with other women in the club house I always find it hard to believe they actually truly fall in love with the heroine and that was the case again in this story.

There are other spin off series connected to this series, so if you haven't read all of those like I haven't, then some things mentioned can be confusing.

I quite liked Jo at first but then of course she becomes the weak, doormat heroine putting up with what her man had been like with all the other women but in this story she also comes face to face with a woman from Rider's past and I didn't like how she dealt with it. Then when she faces the truth about how Razer feels about her it didn't take long for her to forgive him then she mentions in one of the three epilogues how she had already decided to forgive him before he even came to ask her forgiveness? Doormat!

I did not like epilogue 3. Some people may like to read of things like that but I don't but I suppose the author wanted to convince us of their forever and ever love?

It's a long time since a book has kept my interest from cover to cover so that's why 3 stars but it actually had a lot of things that didn't make sense or weren't explained properly and some ridiculous plot devices..Aly!

Also the sex scenes were a lot tamer than in the other books and I never felt much connection between Rider and Jo either romantically or sexually. Rider seemed to have more of a sexual connection with the two women he has sex with in the club house at the beginning of the book! Jo didn't seem to have much of a problem with his sexual escapades. Even when she found out he had been involved in sex scenes with most of the other wives she wasn't that bothered!

It just seemed like Rider had decided he wanted a wife and kids like the other Last Rider's have and he picked Jo as she was the same kind of doormat woman the others had chosen! The author tried to explain through Rider's past why he couldn't love another woman or why he would never marry but those explanations were rushed and not explained properly then suddenly it's the three epilogues and we're told they married with no explanation of why Rider had changed his mind about his reason or what happened to the 'reason'. I'm being cryptic so as not to spoiler too much.

"I'd have to be a little nutty to love you."

I can't believe it but I'm so disappointed. I was expecting Rider's book to be as good as Cash's book. Such a letdown!

There are so many things I was unhappy with. But the most important as a romance lover was that the romance felt completely flat to me. There is no great gesture, groveling, or even a clear declaration of love from Rider to Jo which I could believe.

If you are a fan of this series like I am, you know these guys aren't into monogamy until they meet their one true love (for the most part). I was so excited about Rider finally meeting his match. Someone who can bring him down a peg and make him fight for her love. What I got, was a doormat of a heroine who let him do whatever he wanted. The synopsis says this book is about her revenge but halfway through the book, she gives up.

Saying that I still like some parts of the book. The banter between Jo and Rider, the "shadiness" from Shade who enjoys manipulating his buddies, Jo discussing who she wants her other Last Rider to be, Lily discussing her love of cowboys, Killyama in every scene. The epilogues were also all great. The last one, of course, bittersweet, just like Shade's book was for me. I won't lie. I teared up while reading it. Regardless of the good parts, they were not enough to save this book as a whole for this reader.

Anyway, I'm still invested in this series and I'll read the next book. I hope it is Gavin's turn. The guy deserves a great woman.

I had not planned to read another book from this series after the last 2. But I wanted to discover Rider’s past.

I was enjoying the book until the part when we discover Rider’s 1st wife is still alive and not dead as he had told Jo. I was disappointed in Rider’s excuse to stay married because of the vows he made to the 1st wife.

The rape/murder/Aly plot was rushed and just did not make sense.

I made it! This started out so fun listening to these crazy audiobooks on a road trip laughing with my girlfriends and sometimes raging over these biker’s shenanigans, but then it became a chore to finish. It’s very formulaic and I just got so tired of the same crap different biker, then she started crossing the storyline over to other series, and it became a nightmare. As someone with OCD, this is why I am VERY hesitant of starting long series because it’s VERY hard once I get committed to force myself to uncommit ... even if I’m unhappy and not loving it anymore.

Things got super shitty when she went over to the Biker Bitches series because I really disliked those and even shittier when Gavin was introduced because his story was a MAMMOTH to get through. But thankfully I was able to skip a large chunk of those by having others give me the spoilers. TG because there’s no way I could’ve read Bliss or Jewell’s books… the anxiety would’ve been worth it! (which honestly still sucks because the spoilers I received sort of ruined this series good vibes for 2 of my fav couples for me

**This does follow Crazy Bitch I think and you’ll be lost if you start without reading it because it starts with Lucky almost dying.

But I digress… Rider was a bit a of a snoozefest for me. In a nutshell here’s the book….

Bottom Line- I found this disappointing. Rider has been the happy go lucky/mega-manho member, but it was hinted last book that he was much more complicated and like Shrek had layers. So, I was hoping he would meet a special gal that would throw him on his ass, and the commitment phobe would go down hard, but for most of the book, I felt like he had one foot out the door. There was nothing really special about Jo; she acted tough, but when it came down to it, she was just as wimpy as all the other h’s, especially when it came to dealing with Jewell. The storyline was confusing, the chemistry was lacking, (I did like that he didn’t want to share though), and the action was over quickly. And I sort of hated that they couldn’t totally get a HEA because he felt some loyalty to a traitor, what was up with that? I also don’t like how she’s trying to go deep with these epilogues, these are trashy biker romances, I don’t need a Nicholas Sparks epilogue.

Escape into My Reads Book Blog

This review wasn't easy to write I'm sad to say, so apologies in advance…

Rider was never on my top list of loved Last Rider men. His man whore ways and go to partner in Bliss kept him distant from me as a reader. It wasn’t until I actually read Lucky’s book that my opinion of him changed. The guy who was such a player, jokester and only thought about food came across as sensitive, caring, thoughtful, and totally loveable. When JB paired Rider up with Jo I was absolutely ecstatic because she was the perfect girl for him, and JB proved that in Rider’s Revenge. When it came down to Rider that was a completely different matter.

Let’s talk about the cover for Rider’s Revenge; whilst the cover is hot with the sexy abs, the stache was not. Rider’s character trait had never been described as him having a stache, so it was very difficult for me to connect to this cover and it actually dampened my excitement for the release. I like there to be continuity in the books I read.

I’ll start with what I enjoyed/loved about this book - Jo! Jo is one of my top female characters in the Last Rider series, after Killyama and Rachel. Jo was such a kickass, feisty, confident, had mad car driving skills and was unafraid to get under the bonnet. I loved the banter between Rider and Jo. Their chemistry was in abundance and I soaked up these scenes along with seeing Rider being romantic and looking after Jo. I also loved that we got to see a relaxed side to Shade, the small Killyama part, and finally getting some payback with the Last Rider men, yeah Jo rocks! One thing never missing from JB’s books is her sense of humour, and I loved it in the pages of Rider’s Revenge.

Now what I disliked about this book; the opening scene after the prologue was too much too soon for me to digest. I wasn’t expecting that at all and had to skim bits. The heat factor in Rider’s Revenge was on the way low compared to the previous Last Rider books. It seemed his sexy times with the club women were hotter than with Jo. I was dying to see Dom Rider in action as JB had said he was a bigger Dom than Shade, so when no such scenes actually materialised I was hugely disappointed. There were a few lines were Rider showed his Dom side but not enough for me to dispel that Rider was an actual Dom. Shade still owns that title. The club is supposed to be all about safe sex and one scene at the beginning threw that out the window. I loved the hate relationship between Jo and Rider, so the quick change of man whore to a one woman guy was hard for me to believe. Rider’s actions to me did not prove he loved Jo, she was always placed second. When it came to learning of his past it just confirmed how much he used his past as an excuse to not love Jo. I was mad at him for wanting to keep his oath for the hurt he suffered, but then he wanted to go as far to kill a club woman for her actions against Jo. Nope didn’t work for me, not gud Rider! I was so excited to learn about Rider, fall deeper for him and love his book, but I came away loving Shade more in this than Rider, go figure. I didn’t feel like we got to see the Real Rider, nor could I pinpoint when Rider was gone for Jo. There was so much potential in the plot that could have been explored, but it just didn’t go there. I felt like Jo suffered the worse to get her hea with Rider, with it being in bits and pieces and made even worse for me to stomach with the third epilogue.

Also the title of the book and its blurb did not leave me feeling it matched what I read. I felt like I had so many unanswered questions like; who won Jessie at the auction? What was Carl’s role? Etc. I also didn’t feel there was continuity in other parts, like when Razer said he was going to get back at Rider in the prologue, but then in Rider’s Revenge his input was completely missing. To add to this, there were also issues of inconsistencies and poor editing with Winter being called Shy Girl instead of Pretty Girl, to Jo’s mum being engaged one minute to remarried, and from it being Razer’s suv to Rider’s suv etc.

Now I absolutely love JB and the Last Rider series, but Rider’s book was disappointing and disheartening to read. With this book being long it had so much potential with the plot to have gone deeper in directions, and make it an amazing five star read, but it failed to do that for me. I was left numb and depressed after I finished reading it, and like I was still waiting for my food to be served…

So hard to rate- over the years my interest has changed or things I let slide have changed. I don’t like my hero with others after meeting the heroine.
So with that being said I still wanted to read this book. I use to rate books just for liking the end result but not anymore.
Do I like my hero’s with ow’s after meeting heroine? No
Do I like to actually read a sex scene with hero and ow? No

Don’t read this book if you feel the same way about your hero.

Rider was not just with one woman the day he ran into Jo at the cafe but two more at the club.
I guess the positive is once he bid on Jo at the auction he wasn’t with anyone else and let’s face it he had pussy available 24/7 so he could have.
I could not be with a biker that sleeps around so freely. I know to each their own but it’s the after you find the one that bothers me. Them always looking in the eyes of someone you fucked on the couch, on the table, in the gym, in your bed, in the shower, and etc.
I’m not sure why Rider felt loyalty to his traitor of a wife. He should have divorced her. He could have continued care for her but get divorced.
I didn’t feel that his feelings for the h were as strong as previous hero’s. Don’t read epilogue 3 unless you want to cry like in Shades epilogue. I’m hoping to get books with Moon and Gavin.

Something that always throws me off in this series is the steamy and detailed parts when the hero is having sex with other women. I should be used to it considering it happens in every book of this series but I can’t because I don’t like it. Tbh if I have to read about the hero having sex with other women all the time I would also like reading about the heroine having sex, or at least having a hot makeout session , with another guy.

Blog, please check it out! I have more reviews on there and on this site too!

Here why I have this book 3 stars:

1) plot holes
2) Rider as a character was mysterious full of depth while everyone else fell short, but when it came to wrapping up Rider's complicated issues as a character it goes from 100% thought out to 80% of that thought being left out the door.
3) length. There's no way around it. This book was really long. I understood it's length at times but otherwise I felt moment that could have been extra scenes added at the back of the book rather than be kept into the main story.

Word of advice: don't read the last epilogue if you don't want this image of this book ruined in your mind. If you're mad once you read it after I warned you not to, don't be mad sis. I told ya.

Overall, it was a decent read since her past few releases haven't sparked my interest anymore as the first few series did. I love the side characters when they are side characters since for some reason once the spot light is on a couple from book 6 and above everything falls apart for me. This means that how the couple come to be and how their relationship works because similar in the setup and turbulence each couple faces is eerily similar in almost if not all the books. I love Jo. Yes she's a copy cut out of the troubled young girl who comes from a broken family and trusted the wrong people at the wrong time. She had moments that made me love her and reminded me a subtle and subdued version of Killyama.

Plot holes. The villains, for me, was an issue in the story that got resolved so quickly and easily without fully explaining in detail how each villain was ended in their plot line. We can boil it down to greed and money? Yes? But for some reason Jaime makes me want to think of the situation as more complicated than it actually is. If she's a genius for that or stupid. The verdict is still undecided on that question. The way the villains were resolved to the debt issue to Rider being with Jo. It felt so constructed like almost too manipulated that as a reader I didn't want to see these thread so easily in the book. I wanted to get lost in the story, but I could not achieve this state of mind. This is why I ask the question if Jaime is smart or unable to write mysteries effectively or not? My guess is... not.

The book length. It was long. Over 500 pages with three. 3. Epilogues with the third epilogue being cute, but also sad. The romance was slow burning for most of the book. It was only towards chapter 43 where I felt like some portion of the book was incorrectly edited out because we go from extreme to another compared to the slow pace of book before chapters 40 and beyond. It felt as if Jaime felt bored and wanted to end it quickly. She had me hooked until that pointed. Then it was as if lost her inspiration and interest and the book was no longer that great nor worthwhile. This is why I gave this book 3 stars out 5. I liked it. Didn't love it because she has better books out there. Jaime take a break or something. Release when you're ready not because you need another paycheck girl.

OMG I'm crying here like a baby after finishing. The ending was bittersweet. I hated it. I loved it. Jamie is killing me with these epilogues. Warning. Don't... And I mean DO NOT read them before starting. It will ruin everything! So just don't.

Jo was fabulous! I love that girl. She was sweet, tender-hearted, but she had a spine of steel too. She was such a strong character. Jo didn't disappointed me. I love that girl. And Jo was exactly what Rider needed.

Rider... Wow. I saw him in new light. In previous books you're given a hints about his true self. But believe me you have no clue. Absolutely none. While I wanted to shake him a couple times, he was amazing. Despite being conceited manipulating SOB. I loved him. He has a beautiful soul. I never had a fav until I read Trains book. But now... Rider just squeezed into my heart next to Train.

Very disappointed. Not at all as sexy or interesting as first books.
I wouldn't have thought it was same author. Both Rider and Jo were wushu washy
And things took a religious turn.
I hope there is another version coming out.

I cannot say that I fully enjoyed the book due to a few keys elements. Their feelings jumped too much, and the ending of him dying way early was Bs. And I am not a Grammer Nazi my any means (as you all know) but there were a lot in this book.

Hero (Rider): 34yrs old
Plot: 4/5
Grovel: a little
Cheating: technically yes
HEA: the epilogues made the story for me!
Triggers: h was gang raped, in detail descriptions of H with other women

Average score: 4/5

Best Line: “What you’re seeing is love, Rider”

A good love story between a sweet manwhore and a loyal tomboy

Random Ramblings:

•Ick!!
•Please make me like Rider because he is turning me off so much

•I would have blamed her father
•They were quite sweet together
•OMG! She said he had a smaller dick…and she was being genuine! I love the real talk

•I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting that
•So…confused…is he married or not???

Overall Feeling:

That ending…

As always, I'm not really sure what to think of this book. I love Jamie's style of writing, and as usual, I couldn't put the book down once I started reading, but I'm not so happy about the characters and their motivations. As I expected for one of Jamie's books, nothing is really what it appears, and the main female character ended up being a martyr, and getting hurt by the Hero's actions, something that I hate about her books, by the way.

This wasn't as bad as other books in the series in the sense that, even if he was using her, at least he wasn't abusive about it, but still, the whole situation and how their relationship came to life felt too weird, not to talk about the hypocrisy of Rider, that after sleeping with every woman who crossed his path, doesn't want anyone to even look at Jo and is feeling all protective.

My main problem with this is how they came to love each other, it didn't make sense, it felt forced and kind of unrealistic.
