I finished the book, but have no interest in reading another. The description of how the head would explode after being shot was humorous, and repeated throughout the book, including the odd eye ball flying across the scene. I was unable to suspend disbelief when this battle hardened ex-special forces soldier digs an old bullet out of his leg, chambers it and then fires it into the head of the cannibal? That’s not how bullets operate and indicated a major lack of knowledge.
I was also unable to suspend belief that only after arriving at the wall surrounding London did the hero realize he didn’t know where the girl was that he’d been sent to rescue. The coincidence that he would just happen to find her on the other side of the wall stretched my imagination a little to far.
The apocalypse has been going on for months, yet vehicles seemed to have gas, buildings seemed to have power and food seemed readily available also stretched my imagination a little too far.
The story was weak, as was the character development. I struggled to finish the book.

Zombies is definitely not a genre that I have EVER read. I have exactly negative zero interest in zombies or anything remotely having to do with it. But I have become such a HUGE fan of Mr. Wood that I decided to give it a chance. And I am so glad I did!!!! For this story to be about the undead, it's the human element that really drives the story. You really can feel the pain of Gus; the confusion of Sadie and the naïveté of Donny. I have to say that the true mark of an author's talent is their ability to make a fan become engrossed in a story despite the genre and Mr. Woods has proved he is one of the best there is!!!!!
I enjoyed this book because it had a few added twists than some of the other apocalypse stories I've read. There were some funny parts too. I won't spoil it so won't elaborate on it. I gave it 4 stars because I felt like it was dragging near the end and their dialect was annoying. The word arse was getting on my nerves. Some of the characters that were left in charge were nuts. It's sad this may be what we're stuck with in a real apocalypse. But I will say that ole Bill got what he deserved. While I couldn't wait for this to end, I will be reading part 2. It's actually a good story.
I really enjoyed almost everything about this story. The characters were really good and it has a good story line. The author made me really care about the people. He doesn't know enough about guns and bullets though and needs to study up in that department a bit. Other than that good job.
It started out great and ended the same. It was packed full zombie killing action. We also see different type of zombie/Hunan as we follow gus and Donny during their journey on a mission.
I love zombies . Another reason I love this book is because my sister's name is Stacey her ex is Donny and their daughters name is Sadie I thought it was neat to see those names in a zombie book.
Reminded me a little of the Walking Dead and The Girl With All the Gifts. It was good and will look forward to reading the second book for the conclusion.
I was getting bored with the same zombie story until I picked this book to read.Thank you for restoring my faith in a good and different way of zombies in this book
