In Need of a Knight: Lady Aldora Adamson has the weight of the world on her shoulders. In need of a respectable husband to save her family from ruin, she sets her sights on the Marquess of St. James... The only problem? Aldora didn’t anticipate the sparks that would fly when she meets the marquess’ younger, scandalous brother.
For Love of the Duke: After the tragic death of his wife, Jasper, the 8th Duke of Bainbridge buried himself away in the dark cold walls of his home, Castle Blackwood. When he’s coaxed out of his self-imposed exile to attend the amusements of the Frost Fair, his life is irrevocably changed by his fateful meeting with Lady Katherine Adamson.
More Than a Duke: Armed with the heart of a duke pendant, fabled to land the wearer a duke’s heart, Lady Anne Adamson decides to enlist the aid of the notorious Harry, 6th Earl of Stanhope. A scoundrel with a scandalous past, he is the last gentleman she'd ever wed...however, his reputation marks him the perfect man to school her in the art of seduction...
The Love of a Rogue: Jilted by her betrothed, Lady Imogen Moore is done with love. Never again wanting to experience the pain of a broken heart, she’s resolved to make a match with a polite, staid gentleman. All her best plans however, are upended when she meets her best friend’s roguish brother, Lord Alex Edgerton.
USA TODAY Bestselling author CHRISTI CALDWELL blames Judith McNaught's "Whitney, My Love!" for luring her into the world of historical romance. While sitting in her graduate school apartment at the University of Connecticut, Christi decided to set aside her notes and pick up her laptop to try her hand at romance. She believes the most perfect heroes and heroines have imperfections, and she rather enjoys torturing them before crafting them a well deserved happily ever after!
Christi makes her home in Charlotte, North Carolina where she spends her time writing her own enchanting historical romances, and baking surprisingly good cakes (almost 2 years in lockdown will do that) with her courageous son and twin daughters, each who with their daily antics provides limitless source material.
IN NEED OF A KNIGHT (prequel novella) I absolutely adored the first Christi Caldwell book I read The Scoundrel's Honor and was hoping for that same magic from this box set. Sadly, this prequel novella fell immensely short, and I am now left wondering if I just happened to stumble upon Christi's one-hit-wonder book. Though I didn't completely despise this novella--I really loved Michael's character and his perseverance to create his own life and success after everyone in his life discarded him so quickly. Aldora's selflessness and determination despite the hole her father left her family in was also admirable. But despite my love for these characters, I found the storyline itself to be lackluster. There was passion and plenty of angst surrounding their impossible love story, but I was left feeling unsatisfied and unimpressed, nevermind that the story was wholly clean and ultimately forgettable. 3 stars
[Even though I'm calling this one a dnf, I'm still rating it 3 stars based on the novella I read. I think I will continue to read Christi, just not this bundle as I've enjoyed other books by her.]
What’s better than a Christi Caldwell book ? Answer is a box set containing Four of her best novels . With Rogues, Rakes, Earls and so much more , you can’t go wrong with this . Enjoy!
Giving a high grade for the enticing book covers, this exceptional author's wit and written word gently tugs at our emotions in that love conquers all obstacles no matter the flaws. The magic of the gypsy's heart pendant was evident in the charisma of the gentlemen, who gave up their old lives of philandering or challenging society's acceptance when their respective ladies bestowed them with their kissable lips.
The daughters of the late Earl of Wakefield are pressed to find husbands of their own choosing since their mother wants insurance with a marriage of one of her daughters to Bertrand Ekstrom the lecherous cousin next in line for the earldom following their young brother Benedict.
Will their mother Adamson be successful in her goal of a spare to the earldom and if she is, which daughter would it likely be?
I've had this bundle on my e-reader for a couple of years. I had read the first two books and gave them 5 star reviews. I just finished the last two in the set and they are each 4 star reads.
I liked Christi Caldwell's writing style and her character development. Each book shared similarities, but each also had enough differences to keep me interested in the outcome.
All in all each book in this bundle is tender with smile-worthy endings.
Content alert: The first three books contain descriptive sexual intimacy. All four books contain both secular and religious expletives, as well as sexual innuendos and passionate kissing.
Sadly, this bundle is no longer available on Amazon.
The premise is absurd, a cheap necklace used as a device linking these stories, but the author focuses more on the protagonists than on the necklace. Each story proceeds along a predictable plot to a predictable enough; however, the journey through each goes pleasantly. I encountered a handful of errors in each, nothing so egregious as to stick in the mind, except for the author's apparent confusion regarding British aristocratic titling convention.
Most stories are related, in that they involve characters introduced in previous stories. All are tales of strong women, looking for love and security. Most have overbearing and controlling parents, whose influence they must overcome. Most deal with rogues, and young innocent women. I enjoyed these stories very much. The authors have an ability to draw you into the story
I found this collection of books quite annoying. To me, the stories didn’t seem very different to one another. I started finding the possessive men very irritating. Even worse, throughout book 3 (More Than A Duke), the author continuously uses the word mercurial (which means changeable) instead of (I assume) mercenary. This is just the worst of a number of basic language errors. Clearly a better proof reader/editor is needed!
Christi Caldwell can write a good story. She has researched well the ways and language of the period she portrays. Her plots are interchangeable, however, and her ignorance of the rules of grammar are an irritation. Get a Thesaurus and an editor!! I hope that you will continue to improve as an author.
The stories are good and some are entirely too long, however, my problem with Christi Caldwell is that she uses the Lord's name in vain and that is a major turn off for me and I don't finish the book. She should NOT even use that at all.
Christi Caldwell has written a book wonderful set of books about four women's lives and the trials they face. These books are full of surprising twists and turns that capture the readers attention from start to finish. I cannot wait to read the next one.
Good light hearted bundle of romance to read relaxing on holiday. Some reflection on the cruelty of one's peers and parents and how this shape our perceptions of ourselves
Four great books with well written characters! I enjoy all this authors books. I read the books in order but each is a stand alone but the consistent order allows the ready to know more about the characters.
I read the first 3 books in this bundle and enjoyed them. The first 3 books (which are actually a prequel and then books 1 and 2) follow the stories of 3 sisters. As the 4th book follows a different person, i have decided not to read it at this stage. May return to it at a later date.
I enjoy Caldwell’s books but this bundle was rather tedious. The book, For Love of a Duke, was the only 5 star. Loved Jasper and Katherine! The other three books were too similar. Each hero had a tragic past and each heroine doubted their love before eventually leading to the same outcomes.
Only read #4 for the first time. Enjoyed it! Two people who easily could have felt resentful because of their treatment by others chose to look for something positive and find love in the world.
