I’m not a big fan of this book

This story had a very slow build up. Once Clara found out she was “Chosen”, the majority of the book was her training to use her powers for a fight that happens in the last few pages of the book. Then there is a cliffhanger at the end. If the boring training could have been pared down to a chapter or two, there would be no need for book 2.

Summary:

Received for an honest review.

Between being physically and verbally abused at school to the neglect from her foster parents, the only happy part in Clara's life is her best friend Adam. The unwavering support was the only good thing in Clara's life before Jay transferred to their school. Jay could have ruled the school, but his choose to be Clara's friend seemed to be the start of a change in her life. As it got closer to Clara's birthday things went from bad to worse when first she was brutally assaulted in her home by bullies from school, then no one at school even remembered who she was to her being hunted and killing her Foster parents and that was just the beginning. It seems that there is more to Clara and everyone except for her are in on the secret, including Adam and Jay. That is just the beginning of this intricate story about good versus evil with Clara as the turning point of the plot. The ending is just the beginning as the fight has just begun.

Chosen is a well written book by Lauren Chow. This book is a young adult paranormal story that really drew me in at the very first page. The plot was imaginative and captivating. It had a great pace that followed along beautifully gluing me to the pages. I really had a difficult time putting this book down. The plot was very well thought through and left on a huge cliff hanger, so I really hope the next one will come out soon so I can find out what happens next.

Clara, oh sweet Clara. She is an adorable character and you can't help but love her. The author did an excellent job developing her character. And yes it may be oh so obvious to all of us how she feels about Jay and vice versa, but let's face we have all either been there or had that friend who were just as oblivious about it as she is. I really found that the author captivated it rather realistically on how a young adult is often locked up in their own head and feelings and can't see the the obvious. Clara is fortunate to have her best friend Adam who is a stand up friend, one every teen should have growing up, especially the ones that may not be part of the "in crowd"! Jay is just the perfect match for Clara and couldn't be sweeter yet strong if you tried. There are lots of other great characters in this book that really make up for a great mix.

As I said the book left you with a huge cliff hanger and lots of questions, so I for one can't wait for the next one to come out so I can find out what happens next!

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

It is a good read, even though it is a bit choppy at times. It has a clever plot and well developed characters although I am hoping they are fleshed out a little more in the sequel.

I enjoyed the relationship between Clara and Adam with their own ways of talking in codes and understanding of each other.

I liked the explanation behind the war between darkness and light as well as the explanation of magic. It was original and fun and it slowly answers your questions about what is occurring throughout the story.

Ended on a cliffhangers and I am looking forward to the next book.

This is on of the best books I've reading so far! I even felt burst of pains sometimes. Now that I've got to the end I have to know what happens next. But Damm that last chapter left me with my mouth dropped open especially since I was holding back tears. It was really cool seeing her grow as a person and I loved that it didn't drown on. If I have any problem with it it that we her and Jay didn't have more moments 😣 but seriously it's an awesome book.😄😄 I would recommend this.

A wattpad creation my son wanted to read so I previewed it first.
Cant believe I finished it. Pure Knock off of Harry Potter and Twilight- Except more Cringey, juvenile, illigical, squealy, gossipy, and uninteresting.
I dont want to discourage new writers, especially young ones. So I will say perhaps the author may have more succes as she matures and improves in creating original content without clichés, instalove, and randomness? More thought and continuity.

I thought Clara was quite awesome! She had some self esteem issue; which is understandable given her background. Once Clara was old enough to get away from her toxic foster family, she really blossomed! I do wish the book was longer, but it only makes me crave more! If you like paranormal, this is for you! I can't wait to read the next installment!

A remarkable book for a young writer, and promises well for further books. I found the plot and characters engaging, and I think young adults would really favour this story, which has many captivating elements. Written style needs careful editing, but that will come with experience. Good ending, which whets the appetite for a sequel.

It was a quick, fun read. Not a lot of world building and it follows your usual YA 'chosen one' plot, where the two main characters are ignorant to each other's feelings. Did end on a cliff hanger. Wished there was more of the magical elements revealed or explained.

OMG!

This book is fantastic! I loved all the characters and the story was very believable. Then at the very end "it says to be continued!!!" . This book was written in 2017 and we're getting close to the end of 2019! And there are no other books from this author!!
