Mystery, history, romance and more…

Alison Stuart writes historical romances and short stories set in England and Australia and across different periods of history. She is best known for THE POSTMISTRESS and THE GOLDMINER'S SISTER, stories set in the Victorian goldfields in the 1870s.
She also writes historical mysteries as A.M. Stuart and her popular Harriet Gordon mystery series is set in Singapore in 1910.
She lives in Melbourne, Australia with her husband and a geriatric cat. In a past life Alison worked as a lawyer across a variety of disciplines including the military and emergency services. She has lived in Africa and Singapore and, when circumstances permit, travels extensively - all for research of course!

(This writer is NOT the Alison Stuart who also writes as Kate Tremayne and authored Fateful Shadows, Sin No More, Barefoot Angel, Innocence Betrayed or Loyalty Defiled.)

[ Skimmed/Skipped Scenes/Chapters ] No.
[ Reread Past Scenes For Fun ] No.
[ Reread Past Scenes Cause My Memory Sucks To Clear Confusion ] No.

Other thoughts I'm throwing in:
A sweet short story that is complete without dragging things out via headache-inducing drama. Okay there is a little of drama, but the length makes it an enjoyable mini drama. (If the story had continued after the ending I would have gotten bored.) Despite the length, there was enough to make me feel sad. (Tears but no nose blowing.)

So disappointed, it had the promise of being an incredible story. It ended so suddenly I felt robbed of getting to know the character's that have been introduced and really understanding the events that transpired to bring both their lives to their present status. If felt short.

I expected it to be short, however i expected there to be more than a couple of lines of dialogue between the two main characters. To oversimplify it, to me it was hi, how are you? Horrible and you? The end. It started off with potential but the ending was too abrupt for me.

Short story

In a few words the author told a whole story. Excerpt included reads like an actual period piece. Enjoyed those 15 minutes.

A poignant short story, filled with nostalgia and an unforgettable bond. The story plays out almost too quickly, but is satisfying.

Even though this is only 26 pages long, it shows that time does not get in the way of love. Hannah was forced to marry a not so nice guy, forsaking a young Frenchman she rescued from shipwreck.
